Thanks.

Newbie2024:
You’ll need a printout of the eVisa page showing your photo and details.

For my wife, we went with her share code and passport. We didn’t have that page printed out, so they asked us to log in to her UKVI account and show them the information there.

What is the step-by-step process for a Nigerian traveling to the UK for the first time using the digital e-Visa system, and what exactly should one expect when navigating MMIA in Lagos from check-in to departure? Are there particular documents I should have with me aside from my passport and flight tickets?

I will appreciate if anyone that has used the new e-visa can respond.

A situation where you want to renew the passports of children and you cannot use the app, what is the process like at the embassy?
Anyone with recent experience of renewing kids passports should please give me an update 🙏

Alapereketu:
Using the NIS Mobile App in the UK, passport renewal takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks after the old passport is received by the High Commission. The app enables contactless, home-based biometric enrollment, meaning you do not have to travel to London. The process is for citizens aged 18-60 with less than 6 months validity remaining. Key Details & Requirements
No Physical Visit: Biometrics (facial and fingerprint) are taken directly in the app, eliminating in-person visits to the London office.
Requirements:
National Identification Number (NIN).
Current passport (expiring within 6 months).
A smartphone with a good camera (Android is currently fully supported; iOS is in development).
Self-addressed courier envelope for returning the old passport and receiving the new one.
Cost: The cost involves the official passport fee (variable based on booklet size) and an additional £74.99 for the contactless biometric service.
Process: Install the "NIS Mobile" app, fill out the application, pay, perform contactless enrollment, and mail your current passport for cancellation

Good afternoon everyone, I’m Adeshina, a student of University of Hull who just got into the UK. I’m looking into settling down, so I’m kindly asking if there is anyone that can help🙏🏼 with information or guidance on how to get accommodation and a job. Looking forward to your kind responses. God bless you all.
If you are a Christian go to the Redeemed church along Beverley Road in Hull. Lots of Nigerians there that will help you with work and accommodation.

Thank you!

Please am applying for my mum and I intend using one month bank statement. It has a balance of £3203. There are period during the one month that the balance in statement was £250. Can I use the statement with the fluctuations in the balance and the fact it is a one month statement?
Thanks.
Decided to use 2 months bank statement and the visa was issued.

Thanks, I have more than 3 months payslips for both me and my wife.

giselle237:
Personally I would not do this.
Especially if you are a student or on psw. But this is just me.
If you want to give 1 month bank statement then give minimum of 3 months payslips. Again I won’t personally do this especially if your mom has no travel history. Shows struggle finances for both applicant and sponsor…

Thanks for the response much appreciated.

crackcrack:
This is not true. There is nowhere that UKVI or the Home Office has published a “standard requirement” for how many months your bank statement should be. People just go with six months because the immigration authorities of some other countries specifically ask for that. So it became a rule of thumb, so to speak.

Having read through many, many refusal letters, I am yet to see anyone where the ECO highlighted the length of the bank statement. It’s always the content of the statement that matters.

I'm only aware of Principality Building Society in that category.
And like their name, the APRC (for 95% LTDR) is around 7.3% or so.
Thanks! Their interest rate reflects their name. 😀

Hello,

Please is there any lender or broker that can get a mortgage for someone on a skilled worker visa with a 5% deposit? The property in question is not a new build and the broker that was approached is saying lender will not lend unless one has a 10% deposit.

Royal mail will deliver but it will take a month. The problem is on the Nigerian side. It gets to Nigeria in 2 days then delay will start. You need to go to the post office in the town to let them know you are expecting a package.
Funny thing is Royalmail would pay Nipost to use EMS speed post.

Chreze:
@kode12

How did you send your laptop to Nigeria, how long did it take and cost please?

I want to send one, thinking of using royal mail. I don’t want any cost on the receiver.

Anyone with an info can help please.

Thanks

Please, how true is this? A friend told me it is not necessary to get an International driver's license before traveling to the UK that the normal Nigeria driver's license is ok.
You don’t need an International driving license in the UK. Your Nigerian driving license covers you for a year. Police here since most international driving license from Nigeria as fake because there are different types.

I know of someone who had same experience 2 years ago. When their study visa was about expiring they didn’t have enough money to apply for PSW for the entire family, so husband and wife did theirs and left the kids visa to expire.
It was when the wife got cos that they applied and included the children with their expired visa and there was no issue. I don’t know if this was an isolated case anyway. If both parents are still legal hope dey.

Midex88:
Hi All. Trust we are having a good weekend. a family friend whose visa/brp (husband and wife) is to expire by Oct 2024 just noticed that the brp of their baby girl expired in may 2024.

The recent discovery happened as there were about to apply for PSW for the family.

The family(church members) are presently worried about the child as they do not know the fate of their baby girl.

Will the application for PSW altogether with the child correct the issue?

Pls has anyone been in that position and what advise/step can they take to correct the issue.

Thanks All

When you make your free choice you, will pay the VAT that comes with that free choice. We all pay VAT for whatever lifestyle choice we want.
If you have the resources to send your kids to a private school you can also sacrifice and pay the VAT that comes with it. The entire noise is bring propelled by ring wing media journalist because most of them went to these schools or have children there.

Peerielass:
Wahalla no dey finish for this country! Once Labour succeeds with the VAT charge on private schools. Their next target will be grammar schools, they will be stripping them off that status and making them non-selective schools which is why we should all fight against this policy by not voting Labour. It’s private schools today, tomorrow it will be grammar schools turn. We are living in a free state and people should be allowed to make choices that suits them.

Do you normally let delivery men into your house when they have nothing to deliver and then allow them to sit down, get comfortable and then switch on the TV for them? I am afraid it's a fine, especially if they have video evidence but speak with a lawyer.
According to her she opened the door thinking it was a delivery guy, he introduced himself and said he has the right to come in and inspect the property. The lady in question was new in the country about 2 months then and was not aware and familiar with a lot of things.

Hello,

Please has any one had a court summons as a result of tv license even after explaining that you don’t need it? The funny thing was that tv licence guy got into the property by pretending to be a delivery person. The lady at home was scared and put on the tv for him. He concluded it was being used to watch tv. 4 months later she got a court summons. She intend to plead not guilty but confused on how to respond

Well thesame benefit is costing the government a lot and some councils are going bankrupt .They should get back to work and pay into the system, why is that hard for some of them to do?

Maybe I should just mind my African business.
It is not the benefit system that is bankrupting council or the government. Let the rich and the non-doms pay their fair share of tax. Let the government claw back all the fraudulent pay outs for PPEs. This is a target on the sick and disable. The Tories are out of touch.

My friend was in a similar situation in 2022, he applied for himself and the wife leaving the children out for their PSW.
The later got COS in 2023 and they applied to switch their visa and included the children and they didn’t have any issue. All visas were granted including the kids whose visas had already ran out. I don’t know if it’s they were just lucky.
Talk to immigration lawyer.

farnet:
Please people, has any of the below happened, and what are the implications?

Parents applied for Graduate visa and couldn't do so for the kids, all less than 6years old, because of fund.

Particular questions
1. Is there anyway it affects or will affect the parents visa?
2. In what specific ways does it affect the children?
3. What if the family doesn't have long term plan living here. Looking at moving elsewhere in near future. Does it matter or wouldn't it be a waste of scarce money ( let's say that have it) applying for children that won't be needing a brp for anything or right to work?

Hello,

Please can suggest any organization that does training for Salesforce Admin. Thanks.

Santa2:
Salesforce Admin is a very good route into Salesforce consulting. Lots of organisations are transitioning into Salesforce(even the NHS) so lots of opportunities. If you get good into the salesforce admin role, you can get remote roles. Salesforce Trailhead is a great way to learn salesforce for free regardless of the salesforce path one wants to go into.

Congratulations I remember your post
Maureen4sure:
@semmyk, @Santa2,

I had my graduation yesterday, and it was eventful. I would like to thank you personally, @semmyk, for making this happen.

When all hope was lost, you came through with your advice and the right step to take.

I'm sure you still remember my situation vividly, when I failed my modules and the school was going to award me a postgraduate diploma instead of an MSc.

I followed your advice and wrote to the vice chancellor of my school regarding my predicament and why I failed. Her office swung into action, and I was given the last chance 'Extenuating Circumstances’ .

I was asked to resubmit the failed module, and I passed.

Yesterday, I was awarded a Master of Science.

@semmyk, I prayed God would come through for you in whatever challenges you are going through, just like you came through for me. It will all come good soon.

My appreciation also goes to @Santa2 for your advice and kind words.

Thank you again and again.
