Na wa for Lagos o! I did drop box last month in Abuja and it took exactly 2 weeks. mizGene: |
I said I think you should. You will probably have to explain the inconsistency with your previous application (Why you answered no to the sibling/relative question). Marymag101: |
Her case isn't the same. She has a sister in the US and answered no when asked. Not the same at all. awumen: |
I think you should and then get ready to answer questions as to why you filled "no" in the first place. Marymag101: |
There's no rule that says you have to stay with your sibling. The question is do you have one. You can answer honestly and then put where and with whom you are actually staying as contact person and address. She didn't need her sister's address. Ebalu953: |
Finally! Happy for u yinksob002: |
Yaaay! TWoods is back. I have missed your bluntness. TWoods: |

[quote author=Kazeemakeem post=78012035]All these repetitive questions are so annoying!! I applied for my second US visa in 2017 ( for my first application I was still in school and my parents got some agent that filled total nonsense, ofcourse I was refused). I knew I wanted to visit the US and wasn't sure about the procedure. I started by checking out their website and reading up on the requirements and then I discovered the Nairaland US visit threads and read all of them, 1, 2 and 3. I applied for my visa with all the information I gathered and it was successful. Now I understand about asking specific questions, but when I see "i want to travel, how do I go about it?" Or "my sister sent me an invitation letter" etc it does my head in! That's why they say if you want to hide information from a black man, put it in a book. Read, people! PLEASE!!! |
I guess Abuja is faster then. I applied on 9th April and picked up my passport on the 26th. Factoring in the Easter holiday I'll say it took exactly 2 weeks. ysteph: |
Dammilekan:I haven't said anything about bad energy. I am simply saying that it is very easy to lose confidence about your chances for a visa when you read about all the negative outcomes. Besides, submitting your passport via drop box does not guarantee you a visa, you could still be denied or called in for an interview. We've been reading the stories. |
I'm one of the "silent readers". I know the purpose of this group is to help with the visa process and that's a good thing but for some reason anytime I apply for a visa I come on the group and freak myself out with all the denial stories. Anyways I applied for drop box on the 9th of April, was too scared to track because of the "221g" section i'd been reading about. I got an email yesterday 25th April that my passport had been collected from the embassy, went to pick up my passport today 26th and thankfully I got the visa. Note to self: Stay away from nairaland after applying for your visas and avoid heart palpitations. |
Ndkings1:I've never submitted pay slips cos my office doesn't issue them. I use my salary bank statement which has my office name and salary. I just highlight each payment with a pen to draw the ECO's attention to it. |
opomulero:I presented 3 and I got my visa. 1 salary and 2 savings. |
Oshey9999:Am I the only one that buys my ticket in January/February even when I don't have a visa? Tickets are so much cheaper beginning of the year. Has worked for me so far sha. |
Macdon4ryl:I just explained that the deposit was a repayment of a loan to me. It was by a cheque in my name. |
Macdon4ryl:For what? |
Just picked up my passport with my visa granted. Time-line Submitted Application - 8 May Biometrics - 31st May Application Transferred to UKVI - 31st May Application Currently being prepared for consideration - 9 June Application Ready for Collection - 21 June I didn't receive any decision made email, just the ready for collection. I had deposited N781,000 into my savings account in April which made me nervous but I explained the source in a cover letter. This isn't my 1st UK visa. I'm single and female. My application was submitted in Abj. Exactly 15 working days. |
Hi Guys I am a little worried and I need some advise. I applied for my UK visa last week Thursday and I think I might have left out a crucial document. Let me explain. I want to spend my annual leave in the UK this year. I went to school in Scotland and my 2 year family visit visa expired last year. I also have a US visa which expires next year. Other countries I have visited are India, Qatar, Uae and Ghana. I have a brother who is a permanent resident in the UK. He sent me an invitation letter, mortgage payment, 3 months bank statement, 6 months payslips, and his resident permit card. I did not submit his data page and that has me worried. I am hoping that will not be a reason for a refusal. Another problem is that I paid a cheque of N781,000 into my savings account on 26 April. Now this account has never gone below 1.4 million. It was repayment of a loan to me which I explained in a brief cover letter. I submitted my application with 2.5m in one of my savings accounts, 815k in the other (this account I never withdraw from because of the interest payments which i highlighted with a pen) and finally my salary account which had a balance of about 50k. I transfer money from my salary account to my savings account immediately I am paid every month. My salary account has my Lawfirm's name on my statement and when I make my monthly transfers I use the description ("January savings" etc. I highlighted all these payments with a pen.I also submitted my Pension statement which is currently worth 2.2m and my cscs share statement with shares worth 1.3m. I earn N337,044.53 monthly, after deductions. So I guess what I want to know is 1. Will the fact that I did not submit my brother's data page affect my application and 2. The deposit of N781,000 paid into my account on 26 April. What do you guys think? @Justwise and co please help! |
I will be travelling to Houston next month for a holiday during my annual leave. I just read a post about someone being sent back because the address he filled in his ds-160 was different from what he filled on arrival. Now my issue is I will be staying with my sister who just bought a house and will be moving this Friday. This means the address I will fill on arrival will be different from what I filled in my ds-160 although it's the same zipcode. I am a little nervous. What do u guys think? P.s. it's my first time in the US. |
Hi everyone Been a silent observer. Went for my U.S. interview in Abuja on Tuesday. I read through parts 1 and 2 and the Niv thread with the vo' s This is my transcript: Vo: Can I have ur passport? Me: Sure Vo: What are you going to do in Houston? Me: It will be my annual leave in July, want to spend it with my sister and her kids. Vo: What do u do? Me: I'm a lawyer with a law firm Bleep and on the side I run a company with my mum. Vo: which one brings in the income? Me: My law firm Vo: Where have u travelled to? Me: UK for school and holiday, India, Dubai, Qatar and Ghana Vo: Tell me about ur trip to the UK? Me: Which one? Vo: Anyone Me: I did my masters at the Bleep and studied Bleep Vo: Are u going to receive medical treatment? Me: Definitely not Vo: Are u pregnant? Me: No! Vo: This paper will tell u how to pick up ur visa. This is my second US visa application. The first was in 2007, I was still in Uni and to be frank didn't even go through the application before my interview. I'm female and single. Vo never asked. Interview was Tuesday morning by 8, recieved an email to pick up my passport Wednesday evening. Super fast! Just be honest and clear in ur replies. Oh and my sister is a U.S. citizen. Shared my transcript because I would like to dispel 2 rumours. One is that single people don't get visas and the other is if u have a sibling who is a citizen u won't get a visa. Going through the threads gave me ideas of likely questions and helped me to prepare so I'm grateful to whoever started it and all the contributors. |

etc. I highlighted all these payments with a pen.
