'ifesi' and 'ify' are not independent names on their own and they don't hold any real meaning on their own that way. They're shortened form of different names that starts with 'ife-', mostly in Igbo language, there are some Yoruba names too that start like that but I don't know if they're ever shortened to 'ify'.

Amanda is a complete name on its own, it is not a shortened name, it is not an Igbo name. It is totally different. Calling someone whose name is Chimamanda, Amanda, is not shortening their names it is essentially giving them a totally different name because both do not relate to each other, do not have similar origin nor similar meanings.


That's all thr explanation I have, everything is self explanatory. I don't know why anyone is even thinking in that direction.

Amanda is a name on its own, Chimamanda is an Igbo name on its own and not an elongated form of Amanda. Don't butcher people's names just to serve whatever purpose you have.

Chimamanda is actually a better name than the Amanda you're trying to pin on her. Her name is not Amanda, there are lots of people who bear Chimamanda.

Chimamanda means 'My God would not fall' or 'My God would not fail'

Changing it to Amanda totally changes the meaning and the significance of the name.
