Career / Re: FG Rejects Plans By Multichoice To Sack Nigerian Workers by Areaboy2(m): 7:53am On Sep 01, 2020 |
This is a business at the end of the day. Welcome to capitalism. If they don't meet their profit margins, they simply go else where and more than a few staffs will be out of jobs. it is not enough to blanket prevent them, what is the govt doing to encourage them not to? 1 Like 1 Share |

serox2324: i think the guy above you has answered your question. Blown head gasket is usually the culprit. There could be other severe reasons oh. Pray it is only the gasket and since not much overheating experienced, the top cylinder may still be fine. Good luck 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: My Car Over Heats In Motion But Very Normal In Heavy Traffic by Areaboy2(m): 10:49am On Aug 20, 2020 |
9icetoo: Interesting perspective and you might be right afterall. Some cars do indeed have this bypass, but i doubt Toyota engines do (atleast not in the way we think). You may have had a bad thermostat that wasn't opening all the way and restricted flow. Not entirely shut completely. This is one angle i didn't consider in my initial post. Thanks OP, any update? |

Dont stress yourself with thermostat this, thermostat that. If your thermostat has a problem, and is stuck closed, you will have over heating whether stationary or at speed. I am fairly confident that your radiator is the problem. At low load (low rev in traffic) the radiator works fine. At higher load (higher rev on the move) radiator unable to keep up with the heat dissipation needed. Firstly, check to confirm that your fan is blowing in the right direction. It could just be blowing outwards and this counters/cancels the air rushing in while you are driving, thereby making the heat dissipation of the radiator insufficient. things will work fine when you are in traffic since the air from outside is low as you are on low speed. Secondly, if fan is blowing correctly, proceed to wash your radiator inside out. make sure the fins are free of debris and it is not heavily rusted inside. Replace with recommended coolant. Lastly, you might want to check to make sure your radiator was not "changed" at some point during life of the car. maybe an underrated unit was installed. As long as radiator is clean, coolant level is good and not losing fluid, water pump works fine, fans are blowing (in the right direction), thermostat not stuck closed, A car should not over heat. ps: I'm not an expert, just using small common sense. 4 Likes |

adesanyadotun: No o.. thats even worse.. something is surely wrong but now you need to scan it to find out. simple things like "door open", seatbelt not engaged. But usually, there is a second notification confirming what the warning is. |

Funny though i agree with OP. the competition some years back was between accord and camry, civic and corolla, city and yaris. Today, for every accord you see, you'll see 5 or more camry. Lets start with the basics. Babyboy and pencil light. which one do you see more? EOD and big for nothing, which one do you see more? OP indeed does have a point 4 Likes |

I agree with the above. Dont waste your time importing from the US. Good ones plenty for naija. Just do your research very well and make your choice. Online research with VIN Physical inspection of potential candidates above. Naturally, i will say go with mechanic, but that term has been abused so much that anyone with spanner is now a mechanic . research things to look out for and you can do this yourself. Test drive the car to your satisfaction Negotiate Pay Remember to look under for rust oh Also, don't let anyone pressure/rush you to make a commitment. only do so when you are completely satisfied. Remember, their only goal is to sell their car for the most profit. and your only goal is the get the best deal. Manage these two objectives well and you will be fine. Last point, as i always say, sometimes, quality costs more. Take your time happy searching 9 Likes |

wingmanIII: Come on.. he doesn't need something that expensive. Is he trying to start a diagnostics business? For personal use, dont go above 300USD. ideal sweet spot should be 150 sef. Anything more than that will have features you'll never use. Check konga or Jumia. Basically, dont spend more than 100k naira (this is even too much sef). Autel or Launch have products within that price range that will do all you can think of. 1 Like 1 Share |
