Please, I want to service my car RX350 2011 for the first time since I bought it, my mechanic is recommending Mobil XHP 20W-50 instead of synthetic oil, he said since the engine has accumulated milage, (approx 100K) that the synthetic is not good for the engine.
Appreciate advice from senior members

use only recommended oil Please. For RX350, i think it is 0W20. please check your filler cap or user manual to confirm.

With over 190m people in naija, we are bound to have a large number of "almost mental" people. sane enough not to stand and wander the streets, but crazy enough to post rubbish online.

I have thought a bit for a solution. these are my findings.

1. if you ban the account permanently, he/she will simply create another (done in 2 mins or less)
2. IP ban - He/she is most-likely on mobile and will just move to the next cellular mast and will be assigned a new IP.
3. MOD that pushes content to front page to be vigilant until at least 2 pages of discussions have been reached: This will be very difficult in practice and not solve the issue but rather reduce the time those images are up.
4. Tie down account registrations to email addresses. if an account is banned, the email used to register is automatically banned too - This could be effective but the idiot can just keep creating new email addresses to get new accounts. (how many can he/she create? as much as his/her madness leads him/her).

I think an effective solution may be to revamp the Nairaland registration system - after account creation, you have to wait 48 hours (or more) to be able to make a post. this will frustrate the fool but cannot guarantee complete deterrence.
Combine this with email ban, and then we start getting somewhere, and after a while he/she may give up. Nairaland mods however will not like this method. it is bad for traffic and that is their priority.

After all said, this person may be very well sane and doing this to lure unsuspecting users to click his "links". which for sure are phishing sites to hack your information and account details. Honestly, this one cannot be stopped o.

Donc.... we are back where we started. no foreseeable permanent solution.

Personally, i do not believe EV's pollute more than the conventional cars. Ofcourse there are significant levels of pollution in producing batteries and other parts of the car. However, I do feel the main problem with EV's will come when they get old and we need to dispose off batteries. the environmental impact will be significant

Omo, i drove a 2013 for nearly 2 years with only having to change speed sensor once.. As i sell the car, the car never remained the same. i come dey feel bad for the guy i sell am to. .
But my 2008 camry v6, the guy i sell am to dey still call me till today dey thank me.

Good question. I got mine practically new and may not have battery issues for the next 7 years minimum (touch wood). I have seen 2008 hybrid RX still performing well with all original systems. The batteries are designed for up to 10 years life and even when the battery is weak, the only disadvantage is your fuel bill increases slightly. .

If you do get one, just avoid any kazeem from even hearing the sound of your car, much more seeing or touching the car. A quick example, the ac compressor is completely different from the norm and operates even when the engine is not running. Imagine kazeem trying to fix that.
Do your research, take good care of the car and you'll be fine.

if you are talking about the hybrid generator failure, Toyota has had good experience building hybrids since they started with the Prius. So i'll bet they can only get better. and these failures must be very rare. (again, touch wood )

I already have it lol. cant change now. It's a European model, so fuel economy is top on their list. Plus, it still comes with a 3.5 litre v6 engine, while sporting a hybrid system. Best of both worlds i believe.

My eye still dey that 2011 GS for everyday any waka use

I currently drive one now and I can say it’s a sweet ride, better than my Es 330. Cost of maintenance is really not much except u Dey drive anyhow com go bash the car, if you are a careful driver and you use recommended oil trust me bro you won’t have any ish with this ride, mine is 6months old now on naija soil and the only thing I have changed on that car is engine oil. Buy that car you won’t regret it and also, that car Dey run oo.. so careful as u Dey fire! For fuel consumption it’s ok by me cos I bliv “the bigger the engine, the higher the fuel consumption” it’s not a corolla so don’t complain.
The car also comes with cool features like
Cold/heated seat
Bluetooth
Awesome sound system
The leather quality is awesome
Rev cam
Parking sensors
And lot more.. e many abeg! Lol
Handling is great and it drives smooth
I’m going for RX 350 fSport soon, but u see this my GS, will always be in my garage

the car has been my dream car for as long as i've known Lexus is a great brand i.e. since 2008.
I have the 2018 RX450h fsports executive ..
I will surely get a 2010/11 GS 350 as a run around car. fingers crossed,
