Morality is based on knowing there is a consequence for your action. People understand that it is morally wrong to kill people because they know there is a big consequence for doing that...

There will definitely be individuals who do evil or bad things, in as much as they did it irrespective of the justification, they are not proud or bold to of come out about what they have done, that's because, in their subconsciousness, they knew their action is morally wrong and their will be consequences should people find them out....

Every stronghold of discipline was broken the moment "Spare the rod and spoil the child" is construed to be violent...

Every stronghold of morality was destroyed the moment men and women are deceived about their roles in the home..The equality of the role of man to that of woman is the epitome of our decaying society

We are one hell of a group of people both at home and abroad and we don't seem to cherish any little success that has to do with Nigeria as a country, we are always quick to bring ours down. We celebrate bad news as if we are getting back at an ex-lover without understanding that there is no nation without the people. Good and bad are like white and black and there is no grey area when it comes to the actions of a group be it Boko-Haram, IPOB, ESN, OPC, MASSOB, Militants etc, we are to stand in unison to point out evil among us irrespective of our political, social, economical, ethnicity or religious affiliations

Security is everyone's job, reporting suspicious movements to the police or recognised local security outfits, and reporting petty crimes irrespective of relationships are some of the ways peace and tranquillity are achieved in some of those countries everyone wants to "Japa" to. The Nigeria Military is fighting battles on many fronts, there will be successful operations and there will be days they will lose men to our common enemies, this is a basic war scenario and it is morally stupid to celebrate losing our military men to these entities but downplay our military success by asking for video proof; Who in his right mind brings a phone to a war front to record events, if people have experienced rival cult clashes alone in their neighbourhood, they will have a snippet of what war situations are like

Truth be told, there is a large group of people that hold some form of resentment or another towards this country and every single of them is full of hatred but there is a saying that says " You will only understand your father when you become a father yourself" which means Old age brings common sense about the past but I am surprised how many of them are still stuck with the tales of anguish, pain, hatred and lies that have been passed down many generations ago to them...No person will be given a hoe, that won't pull sands to himself which means there is no way anyone will relay a story to you that won't project his/her self-image.

I celebrate my country irrespective of the challenges facing this nation and am especially grateful for one of the cheapest education I got from the country, which provided me with a basis to rob shoulders with those that paid fortunes to attain the same knowledge often earning more or equal to them.....

I don't know what makes us Nigerians purveyors of fake news or emotions-laden propaganda machines just to score some cheap social media relevance or validation which often doesn't correspond to our reality.

Nigeria can be in a very bad state at the moment, but not every news or social media post comes from a place of logic and the fact that people won't take some time to apply basic logic to a post or it suits their emotional ideological craving, then it's validated as truth and that makes me wonder at what point does human brain begin to think in bytes

Many possibilities make this to be false
1. The credit screenshot may be true but that must have been a result of direct debit deductions. Co-operative loans are quite common among teachers

2. The credit screenshot may be fake and generated using some apps like that

But common sense shows that this will be a total fake credit screenshot because there would have been uproar all this while the teachers are receiving stipends like this should it be true...Irrespective of how a government is popular with his people, there will always be opposition snooping around his failures and they won't resist making them known to the media or public
Crime / Re: Policeman Threatens Rufai Oseni Wth Gun. Broadcaster Says He Will Call Governor by Arelyn: 2:30pm On Aug 02, 2022
The facts are obvious and we shouldn't try to appropriate blame unduly because of our knowledge of either "Mr Rufai" being a reputable journalist or members of the Nigerian police force notorious for all manners of uncivilized policing methods...

The facts are...

1. Mr Rufai was caught using a BRT lane which was purposely designated for Buses and being a journalist and not an ambulance driver or military or para-military official on emergency duty, it is illegal for him to drive through the BRT lane

2. He was stopped by men of the Nigerian police force, they notified him of violating the law and an argument ensued

3. The argument led to either one or more officers attempting to draw his/their riffle on him after he probably had resisted arrest or admitted he was wrong and played the popular big man card.."I will call the Governor" or other common lines " Do you know who I am" " I will call your boss" " I will deal with you" etc

This is obviously what is wrong with our society as a nation, our integrity only lasts until we are not being watched. Mr Rufai is a proponent of due process, and corruption-free journalism but here we have him violating one of the basic and simple laws which shows we are all cut from the same fabric of corruption, nepotism, tribalism, religious dogmatism, civil disobedience etc. except for the few that are consciously trying not to be an average NIGERIAN.

The police officer as well failed in his duty of educating a lawbreaker on reasons not to act similarly in the future and then applying the documented sanction be it a fine or arrest

We have a very l.....o....n.....g way to go to make Nigeria close to what is obtainable in those country everyone wants to "Japa" to and I challenge everyone to do at least one thing today that is better than the way they did it yesterday...It can be as little as refusing to drop sachet bags on the road, take it to your house and bin it

I know I might sound like a fool to some hardened Nigeria, but I am in a system where basic civic duties work and there is a punishment for violating basic laws and you will peacefully change if you are in the same system

I stopped at the bolded since it seems you don't kniow that is already available to them, the problem is the bank charges and the interest rate which is controlled by the inflation rate.
Whichever way you look at it, it has to be well handled else it will plunge our financial institutions into crises. Banks used to do it before but I don't know about now, they used to give their staff loans and deduct from their salaries. IBTC bank used to give loans to individuals with a verifiable and reliable means of income. I don't know if they still do it now., the challenge is ability to pay

Thankfully, you and I agree there is a possibility and I know it was there many years back but the banks are their for profit as they are privately owned, so their interest rates are high... I know of these not for profit organisations such as the building societies and credit unions in UK and Ireland established by individuals bonded by similar interest and partly subsidized by Government to ensure the delivery of these credit facilities at a competitive rate better than that of the bank's rate...We have cooperative societies in Nigeria that are doing exactly the same thing but they are only member funded and they provide credit facility like mortgages and the likes

In those economies you mentioned.. What is their unemployment rate?
Secondly what is their minimum wage?

Do you know that 85 percent of Nigerians living inside Nigeria don't even have addresses?

These loan apps that every are complaining of howfar with them? Are they not shutting down?

You don't seem to understand the nation you are from..

Even the guys who loaned funds last year will have to forfeit almost half of their funds due to devastating devaluation..

I understand your point and relate with your database and address system inadequacy but my submission is entirely focused on Government using credit facilities to reduce the rate of corruption.Government is largely the biggest employer of labour at the present moment, there is nothing wrong in the Government creating a credit facility for those it employs to allow them attain their luxuries as they will be made to pay means-tested amount from their salaries...

Often time what causes people indulging in corruption is the bulk cash system that we operate..You need cash to buy land, you need cash to buy phone etc but if their is a credit system where you can access Government money which you pay back at a means-tested( suitable and convenient) rate, individuals can attain their luxuries...It will be difficult for people in the private sector or unemployed to do this but when theirs is a trusted system on ground, people will key into it..

The things you listed their are so sweet and talk God you said in a developed economy, Nigeria is an underdeveloped country, making loans available for civil servants shouldn't be their priority.

In growth models, there are stages of Economic growth, Nigeria have not reached that stage. What we need now is loans for SMEs and other manufacturers that will boost the economy and create more Jobs, when we leave the stage of take off to stage of mass consumption, then we can talk about credit facilities for civil servants.

Ever heard of "Onward cooperative society" before?.....it was only through their credit scheme, my mum was able to afford a basic 3bedroom house while in active service as a "Teacher"....

Government is still the largest employer of labour in our country today, a credit facility where repayment can be deducted from source( salary) will allow almost everyone to escape the poverty line....You will bear me witness that one of the largest expenditure of an average Nigerian is rental cost, a credit scheme like a mortgage often provide you shelter at a much lower rate that the rent you would have paid for the same building at the same location. It's a win-win situation, you get a roof above your head and Government recoup their profit as interest over a long period of time depending on your means-tested capacity to draw down...

Moreover, my submission was to show how corruption can be fought with credit facilities...A Government worker who can attain a house, a car and still afford to meet his other needs as a result of credit facilities will have little or no reason to indulge in corruption. Most working class people here, don't have more than a house, two family cars and their life to manage and I tell you what, nobody actually need more than that.....

We have all these in Nigeria, the problem is ability to pay back and when the interest rate is low, government officials give it out to themselves by proxy.

The first thing we need in this country is accountability, active database, accessibility and the right leaders, intelligent and enterprising leader than he is ready to embrace new ways of going things

We have them but they are limited to only the big sharks that can afford to pay the excessive interest rate..Accountability is the number one problem but If these measures are targeted at those who receive their salary straight from Government coffers, we will be putting a large amount of people on their path to financial freedom and a good amount of those people won't see the need to indulge in any morally or ethically wrong venture to put a roof above their heads, that way some amount of corrupt practices will be shelved, which was what Tinubu was trying to say in that short clip

Dust your sociology and psychology textbooks and read. It's no miracle. That's how the developed countries emerged.

Do you understand the term "means-tested"....If you carefully read through my submission there was no where mentioned credit facility is available to every tom, dick and harry....We are talking about one of the ways to reduce corruption and credit facility is one of them

There is no need to submit yourself to moral and ethical scrutiny if you know there are legitimate easy way to attain your luxuries..If I want a new iPhone, I don't need to steal from people, scam people or involve myself in other morally destabilising ventures when I know there is a system in place where I can pay as little a means-tested amount over a period of time to achieve it

Where will you get the collateral from or don't you think that we have such in place, what of the interest as banks would want?

We have it in place but you have to be qualified to access it which most Nigerians are not qualified for.

You can't just give a loan to someone that cannot pay. My bank is even begging me to collect a loan which I turned down.
The inflation rate won't even allow lenders to give out loans too

There are unemployed people everywhere in the world and that's why credit facilities are means-tested. If you don't have the means to pay for it, you can't get it...

There are millions of Government workers who are unable to get a roof over their heads but earn enough to afford to contribute 30K to 50K every month to pay over a long period like 30-35years to have a house to themselves. Credit facilities will ensure they can buy whatever they can afford to pay over some time. It is so funny that people can use this facility to buy something as stupid as a Phone and repay over 12-36months depending on what they can afford to pay, that's why it is always means-tested and not collateral dependent as we presently have in Nigeria.

The unemployed will have to get a means to attain regular income, an okada driver, a bus driver etc will comfortably own home if credit systems are in place unlike the present situation where individuals need to raise a bulk amount to buy land, raise another to do foundation and the cycle goes on

Credit facilities such as Mortgages, Car loans, personal loans, Educational loans etc are certainly the way to go to attain luxury in most developed countries everyone wants to "Japa" to.....Availability of both soft loans and hard loans will reduce dependence on bulky cash transactions; a precursor for corruption) which means individuals only need to find a regular and steady means of paying back a predetermined amount then other secondary needs can be achieved with ease

You can try to deny it but a large number of Nigerians in the diaspora who have a house to themselves today or will buy in future can only achieve it through a mortgage and you don't need to be in the most glamorous of all jobs to own a home in most of these countries because individuals are means-tested before loans are handed to them and such loans are protected with different forms of insurance ( mortgage insurance, life assurance, income protection insurance etc.)

He has a genuine point and liberals like me love to hear alternative solutions to the status quo and not the normal shenanigans our politicians dish out to appeal to emotions. Reading through comments so far, I will suggest Economics should be made mandatory from secondary schools up to tertiary education while Basic Financial Education should be incorporated into every vocational training because it seems a large number of our people can't comprehend basic economic measures.

Most developed countries are operated with the mantra "Government has no business in business" and they either run a full-scale socialist system where taxes are made high or a Capitalist system; where tax generation is moderately set to low even though they may pretend to be a mixed economy. Member countries of the EU, Canada, and the UK are perfect examples of high tax systems where social welfare systems are possible while the United States is purely a Capitalist economy reason why tax is quite low and basic human needs as basic as healthcare are not provided, you pay your ass out to get health cover, though there is a social system in place but its too little to ensure survival

The mixed economy we run doesn't suit our corrupt nature.. people are either not too open to declaring their full assets or hiding under Government subsidies to wreck havoc on the economy. We need to pay the real value of commodities needed to finance our lifestyle then every one of us will be responsible financially

This is not directed to anyone who maybe passing through a difficult time at the present moment, but my concern is that we all complain about how expensive is it to live in Nigeria especially food items but the truth is that, there is an aggressive inflation rate going through every country in the world due to a combination of factors

We all need to start cultivating something either on a small scale or a large scale because hunger is the main concern of an average human being and most developed countries recognized that and why food is barely the cheapest you can get in these countries everyone want to "japa" to

What is our problem as a group of people? We indulge ourselves in extreme begrudgery even up to our National Government. Some people are so envious of development or good news about their own country, this is not stupidity it is bewitchment of the highest order.

I wrote a snippet of how someone close to me benefited from the FG anchors borrower programme yesterday without connection or any external input that goes to show the opportunities are there but we have a large population of intellectually lazy people that want those opportunities to drop at their doorstep without any effort.

EU considering buying Gas from Nigeria intimates an abundance of opportunities for individuals that can pitch their tent around the mechanism that will ensure the transaction becomes a success...Let's forget about what big-time politicians will make from it and think about how we can position ourselves around the system, there is no easy money anywhere in the world, people align themselves with the right crowd and that's how it is done in those developed countries everyone wants to "Japa" to

We need to stop making ourselves look like fools to the global community because of hatred, tribalism or religion because many countries have it worse than us e.g Venezuela, but you hardly hear about how the country with the largest oil reserves couldn't provide for its citizens with the proceeds from oil and gas because their citizens have since channelled their energy into palm oil production in the last 7-8 years

I guess one of the few things any reasonable Nigerian could see under PMB is that Corrupt act of Governmental officials is made popular and punished almost immediately that is not to absolve his administration of corrupt practices or praise him to be fighting corruption on all fronts as expected

Incidents like these went underground during GEJ era, and loads and loads of money were disbursed, stolen or aggregated under him with little to no recourse...Tales of how Deziani turned the Ministry of petroleum into her personal cash cow are still being unravelled after 7 years. We will probably not get to know about the DASUKI GATE scandal, or monetary allocation to GEJ cronies had it been his second term was successful. I was not surprised that the then First lady had her hands on major cashflow until she had to forfeit a lot to the Government after being tried while President GEJ was said to have been misquoted for saying "stealing is not corruption"

I have never been a direct beneficiary of any politician's corrupt practices or directed Government initiative even when it was obvious I was overly qualified for several scholarships, I was disqualified because I came from a non-oil producing state therefore whatever I am now, I am proud and grateful to the extremely subsidised education that was made available to the common man by the Government, so I have no allegiance to any politician and I am liberal enough to be logical than emotional when accessing each administration.

Reading through the comments shows how our collective cultural appreciation of "Good debts vs bad debts" as a nation often makes us fail to appreciate tiny bits of information that could have been beneficiary to us.

Granted, Government is largely made up of individuals that are known to be chronic fraudsters whose aim is to make the masses a potential permanent dupper, notwithstanding Government needs to borrow for capital expenditures especially in a country like ours

Loans are not in any way bad in as much as there is a profit attached to it's purpose. What we need as a Nation is actually to press for transparency of funds allocation and disbursement. The FOI bill gave us these powers but hardly have I heard or read about a strong advocacy group championing these courses to monitor Government spending rather we focus on the irrelevance of how much is being borrowed.

Everything from the government doesn't have to be false all the time, I know people who benefited from the Anchor borrower programme(ABP) initiated in 2015, One of them is now a big time Rice producer and employs close to 50 people at her rice mill in Ogbomosho...

The problem the black community faces abroad is that of cultural ideology influenced by our innate ego...Truth be told, we are shaped by our culture and influenced daily by our experience in life but the moment we allow our ego(emotion) to come in place of logic when applying ourselves to situations in life, issues like this are bound to happen

Let me start by saying there is a lot that can happen to an individual overseas that will translate to big reputational damage should such an individual apply his or her cultural ideology to it but because of the rules and regulations of the host country, they are not only normal but legally and socially acceptable.

Over time, black women have learnt the ropes within the legal system that they can manipulate to their favour which may be a result of a genuine desire to seek protection from a very "bad" man or just a selfish manipulative quest to dominate a relationship. These laws are possible because more campaigns seek to portray the female gender as an endangered species therefore more regulations are created to support women in these countries.

It is so surprising that "black women are the largest group with the highest divorce rate in the United States " even more than the white woman which doesn't reflect positivity in black women. It is not uncommon for this group of women to become largely illogical and emotions driven, the moment they attain similar or better economic status compared to their men except for those that remain rooted in their cultural ideology and principles of virtuous women

I wonder why these laws are there while statistics that "Asian women are the least to divorce their men" remains valid. I work in a team of 13 professionals and on nights out, questions bordering around divorce do come up, it's surprising that the Asian women in my team don't see divorce as an option but my black sisters don't just take the chill pill at all. An Asian colleague once said " when you have a broken toy, you fix it, you don't throw it away " that stuck with me for a while

My submission is not to support those groups of men that are full of themselves and won't mind treating their women badly, if a woman seeks protection from men like that it is understandable and justifiable but I have seen more women get their men in trouble with the authorities just for the sake of better social welfare package.

I just want us, individuals, both at home and abroad to know that the more black families are destroyed, the more black children are not provided with the best opportunity to attain the optimum best for themselves as the statistics show that black children from broken homes are more likely not to turn out well in life...These are evident in most American movies, "blackness" is always characterised by broken homes, drugs, violence etc...The more reason the series "Power" gained more viewership than "Empire" even though they had a similar storyline of grass to grace but power depicts the appropriate narrative of a black man which millions of young black men can relate to the main character's experiences while it suits the narrative of how Hollywood wants to portray a black man

Before we try to judge them, it's good for everyone to have a proper understanding that they are not scammers or dubious individuals but in an attempt to grow their company, they allowed a huge amount of dollars to successfully go through, which means they earn more from the commission on those transactions

Ping Express is a money transfer app domiciled in the United States and operates Dollars to other currency financial transactions to other countries. It's mostly used by Immigrants abroad as a means to send money to their Original country be it Nigeria, Ghana etc.

There is a maximum financial transaction limit ( approx $10000) an individual can send at a go and not more than $300000 in a year...The issue is that most of these small Fintech companies provide you with the comfort of sending money home with little to no scrutiny for a small amount of service charge with better rates compared to the bug sharks; western union, Money gram, Ria etc who have built a system of financial bureaucracy strong enough to encourage individuals with a large cache of money

The moment an individual sends above $10000, your legal right as a fintech company is to withhold the transaction, request financial evidence of proof of funds from the client and notify FinCen immediately who checks the client's bank statements submitted and approves the Fintech company to process the transactions...I know this sounds like a lot but all these are built into the FinTech app and it's automated

What happened to Ping Express is that many of these transactions were processed within a short period without them notifying FinCEN, which can be done easily by deliberately corrupting the subroutine code without actually crashing the whole program.

FinCen works with a lot of Nigerian banks and they can track from which accounts the largest dollar transactions were made and that's where Ping Express was caught.

Having suffered from serious chronic insomnia due to work-time balance, I was reliant on sleeping pills to get 1-2 hours of decent sleep each night but the moment I discovered "Camomile Tea", I have been having decent 7-9 hours of sleep and my circadian rhythm returned to baseline after about a month

I don't know if you can get it in Nigeria but try to get her " Camomile Tea", and let her take 2bags each night. She may add honey or sweetener for taste.

It's a natural muscle relaxant so it has no side effects and it's very popular here for insomnia...

Politics / Re: God Will Judge Between Nigerian Christians, Tinubu – Ex-sgf, Lawal by Arelyn: 8:38am On Jul 18, 2022
Naturally, I don't like to make statements that can be misconstrued as support or alliance with any Nigerian politician because I don't trust any of them but where there is a lack of logic, emotions presides and I have not seen any decision made solely based on emotions succeed in anything, though it may be my anecdote experience...

Having said that, I wonder why there seem to be prominent places for Muslims and Christians both in our constitution and societal acceptance but no one identifies with those that practise traditional religions, they are either silenced or referred to as pagans that are destined for hell by the proponents of these two foreign religion.

Truth be told, the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket is nothing but a political move but people have other political parties to vote for should they feel the APC ticket belittles their ideology but I will like us to ask ourselves a critical question, which is "This religion I practise, how as it benefited me economically?"

Politics / Re: Osun Election: PDP’s Adeleke Wins, APC Kicks - Vanguard by Arelyn: 7:13am On Jul 17, 2022
This is a good showing of how popularity-based elections are won...Little difference between the two main political parties goes to show that OSUN is going to be a swing state during the next presidential election. Adeleke's performance in his first 100days will determine the direction of people's vote in the General election

Politics / Re: Pdp Wins Osun Governorship Election With 28,000 Votes by Arelyn: 6:39am On Jul 17, 2022
This is a keenly contested election and for anyone that understands data analysis, it goes to show that this is a personality-based vote and the difference does not show the dominance of one party over the other especially when the number of rejected votes is more than half of the difference

Congratulations to Senator Adeleke, I will advise him to make a direct impact on every resident of Osun( across the length and breadth of the state) because this result can flip suddenly should one region be neglected for the other especially IFE EAST...

Extrapolating this for the General election means that APC should count OSUN as one where they will probably share votes and not a state they will get the maximum from the population except Adeleke's business side of politics can be manipulated

The Presidential Election promises to be interesting as both APC and PDP will swing states away from each other..LP needs more grassroots orientation and political awareness, as this election and that of EKITI showed that we are not yet an issue-based electorate but popularity/emotion-based electorate.

In as much as their is truth in this, INEC participation in the primary elections of both parties nullifies their regulation of standard notification time before primaries.

Go and rest, do you even have electricity in your home in Nigeria to make a conclusive research work.

You are one of the people the book of proverbs 26: 4-5 and al-Hujuraat 49:11 warned me against...I wish you a good day Sir
