Let me start by saying thanks for this. But let me correct some things you wrote up there.

1. All Lagos State governors built roads.

2. Lagos State still has a poor transport system till today. It's the only state in Nigeria where you can spend 20 straight hours in traffic.

3. BRT busses didn't come to life until Fashola. That's why it was popularly known as "Babatunde Raji Transport"

4. Tax system in lagos is exploitative. Thanks to Tinubu. The amount of informal tax collected in Lagos if remitted to rte government would greatly improve Lagos. But again very difficult for that to happen. Thanks to Tinubu.

5. Did you say power? Power has been under the Exclusive list only till this year.

6. Again, for those of us who have liver in other states apart from Lagos, the Agbero system is something that should never have happened.

And let me finally say this, the Agbero system has promoted illiteracy, hooliganism and given riches and power to non-state actors. To scrap that system now will take God Almighty's intervention.

Tinubu's didn't do much in Lagos (I wouldn't say he didn't do anything cause he did) but not much. The "modern" Lagos you're seeing today even though hyped is a work of combination of Jakande, the colonial masters, the military regime, Ambode, and Fashola.

I say this firsthand.

Before Tinubu became governor, Lagos had a poor transport system, power housing to contain population explosion, a poor tax system to benefit from the presence of many companies and industries in the former capital.




Tinubu came in, drew up a plan. Kicked off the Bus rapid transit (BRT), brought some sanity to the tax system, using the court to go after big tax defaulters (increasing Lagos state IGR significantly), conceived the waste disposal system...




Tinubu also built roads.

There is very little to nothing to differentiate these men.




But there are enough characteristics with which to compare them.





The three are politicians. Whether they be Nigerians or Americans or Europeans, politicians are hard to trust. That is why voting is a gamble. There is no proof that your preferred politician is morally better than mine.



The three of them are businessmen who have thrived in an economy that easily impoverishes the common man. While Tinubu and Atiku mostly provide services, Obi imports goods into our country, contributing to the fall in value of our Naira.




The three of them have had their time in government. That is, they have antecedents. While Tinubu conceived a modern Lagos city to compete with the rest of the high flying modern cities, Obi saved state money in companies in which he had huge stakes (a subtle crime which could earn you a death sentence in China). Atiku was chairman of the privatization program under OBJ and El Rufai exposed how he and his boss (Obasanjo) mismanaged the program, killing our education system.




The three of them have faced allegations of corrupt practices. But they are all allegations, and because corrupt practices are often hard to investigate due to the large-scale syndicate activities that shade it, it is hard to tell who is the most corrupt of the three politicians.




How some Nigerians concluded that Obi is the least corrupt is beyond me. How did they reach this supposed fact?

Obi who worked for Abacha, Obi who imports heavily, Obi whose only achievement is saving money when he should be spending them on meaningful projects is certainly not a new breed. He has been around with the old goons. Pretending like he is different from the rest is just a charade which has fooled many Nigerians.

GEJ and Buhari too gave an appearance of being frugal, but go check their feeding budget when they were presidents. Have you seen Buhari's sitting room in Daura? Very ordinary, but look at what the man puts on, from his wristwatches to his shoes. He appears frugal on certain material things, but not on all material things.




There is just something off about Obi for me. A frugal man who has choice properties in a notorious tax haven. During his time as governor, workers groaned and accused him of insensitivity.

Look at Fashola saying that a serious government would fix power in 6 months. When he had the opportunity to do it, he failed woefully.




Buhari came in, swearing to crush corruption. After a few months, he started wishing he was still a military man with the absolute power to rule through decrees.




Nigerian politics will humble you. If you like, bring Abraham Lincoln to head Nigeria, he won't achieve anything.





We need a change of many things for our country to start working again.





We need a new, people-oriented constitution with a political system that drives governors to work harder and for states to compete against each other in terms of development and resource use.





We should try the regionalism we practised in the 1960s, with some additions to address current challenges.





One thing I would like to see is states having more items to legislate on. For example, states should be able to generate power for the national grid.





Obi, the smooth talker, does not know all these things. He will get there and start complaining.

As long as we are humans, voting behaviour will always be emotional.

He is humble. He knows statistics. He is a master strategist.




No one talks about antecedents. No one talks about manifestoes. No one talks about relevant issues that they make.

Yes, how does creating jobs help the currency of an economy that produces almost nothing?



Will job creation make the naira more attractive even to the employed?



The currency value is shored up by demands and citizen confidence.




Why does very few people want the naira? That is the question. Why does it seem like everyone wants to save in dollars? That is because we all have zero confidence in the naira, and this also affects its value.




But the major issue is that we produce very little, giving the naira little chance to compete in the international market.




Investing in necessary infrastructure for raising production and exportation (infrastructure like power and oil refining) will raise the value of the naira.





If you create jobs without improving power, we will still lag behind in service delivery.

So, how does borrowing to create jobs help the naira?


Obi was always confused, which was why I knew he was himself a calamity waiting to happen.




Infrastructures, especially necessary ones, are way more important for managing inflation than jobs.




Build good roads, and food would be transported quickly, reaching the market quicker and cheaper.





When the roads are bad, goods take longer to reach their destination, and the cost of petrol spread across a 3-day journey would of course be regarded as higher than that of a day, even if it is not really the case.




Infrastructure is very important. Necessary infrastructures like electricity infrastructure, good road system are some of the features of a developed country.

Nobody is talking about that very dark girl.
