Politics › Re: Where Is The Ibaka Sea Port That Akpabio Promised? by aresa: 12:26am On Dec 14, 2014
Despite the yearly allocation of several billions of naira for the construction of a proposed greenfield deep seaport at Ibaka in Akwa Ibom State by both the State Government and the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) since 2011, the project has remained elusive, with no evidence of a port being built at the proposed site.

The project is missing in the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan and in the list of similar projects planned in partnership between the federal government and state government, with expectations of private investors collaborations, investigations by LEADERSHIP have revealed.

The Ibaka Deep Seaport, a project for which the federal ministry of transport, the NPA and the Akwa Ibom State Government have held several workshops and taken commendations at several events is also missing in a maritime and air transport report prepared by Steer Davies Gleave for the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) hosted by

The African Development Bank.

The study, which was carried out to assess the potential for enhanced private participation in the maritime and air transport sectors in Africa however identified the Lekki Deep Seaport measuring 970m of container berths, 320m dry bulk berth, 1-2 oil berths and located 60km east of Lagos.

The Badagry greefield port, Koko Port and Olokola Port were also listed with their capacity and promoters.

The water at Ibaka is said to have a natural draft of 11 metres, without dredging, making it a huge potential for possible deep seaport construction.

Akwa Ibom State has continued to budget for the port, which Governor Godswill Akpabio said would create employment for 100,000 Nigerians.

The NPA had also told LEADERSHIP in Uyo at the PCC meeting that the deep seaport would be completed in 2015.

When LEADERSHIP visited the proposed site of the deep seaport at Ibaka, there was nothing to show that a seaport was being planned at coastal community.

A lonely dilapidated narrow road, better described as a colonial road leads to Ibaka, from Oron. As early as 2011, the Akwa Ibom State Governor told a Nigeria Ports Consultative Council (PCC) meeting in Uyo that his government had concluded plans to dualise the road.

http://allafrica.com/stories/201312160580.html
Akpabio budgets billions every year for this invisible seaport.

1. Ibaka seaport is not in the FG gazette and there is zero FG budget for it.

Meaning the FG doesn't know anything about this seaport officially

2. Akpabio budgets billions for this bridge every year with not even bush clearing or fence erected.

Meaning Akpabio pockets free billions every year.

Toll or no toll, Lekki bridge was built by the people of Lagos

Lekki bridge and toll road belongs to the people of Lagos

Tolls collected by the people of Lagos state stays in Lagos state to fund similar projects in Lagos state to benefit the people of Lagos state..

On the other hand--

2nd NB belongs to JB for 30 years

Money collected from your men, women and children wont benefit your region because it goes straight to Germany

And after the 30 years, the bridge still won't belong to any of your states, it goes back to the people of Nigeria..

Basically, your region just paid tolls for 30 years to build that bridge for the rest of Nigeria even though you fund that bridge with your money and sweat...

According to history, the same north slaughtered tens of thousands of ibo people, but today, they are still the largest immigrants in the same North. So, are you trying to repeat what happened to your forefathers decades ago?

Buhari commanded the arrest and indefinite detention of pro democracy groups who dare talk about Nigeria's political future as far as he (Buhari) was still on the throne
GEJ violently suppressed subsidy fuel demonstrations and slaughtered 12 subsidy fuel protesters

GEJ is yet to account for our hundreds of missing school children

GEJ is yet to account for the dead unemployed youths he even scammed for bogus employement

Your vote is your power, together we will put to a stop Buhari's attempt to benefit from the institution he destroyed
Actually, GEJ destroyed our institutions from top to bottom.

The police is grossly, lawless, grossly incompetent, grossly corrupt and politically compromised. They don't even respect the other arms of government. the Nigerian police today is a lawless organization.

The SSS is a worthless political organization with zero capacity to defend and protect Nigerians. Their main responsibility and obligation is ti fight the opposition and engage in political battles instead of Boko Haram.

Weeks after raiding the APC's DATA office, they still can not tell Nigerians what crime was committed and what criminal evidence they obtained to justify their lawless and illegal actions.

The Nigerian military under jonathan is a toothless, poorly equipped and badly demoralized organization.

Under Jonathan, we've lost potions of Nigeria to terrorists.

We gave him a full country, but we are getting back a fractured and incomplete Nigerian territory.

You are entitled to your tribal and bigoted opinion, but definitely not to your own facts and Nigerian history..

GEJ has done a lot for us, example, Enugu airport, ongoing second Niger bridge, on going road project from head bridge Onitsha to enugu, esterblishment of Federal university in Ebonyi, Ongoing Enugu Aba Port harcourt road, Ebonyi rice processing mill, ferlizer plant in Abia and Anambra, Onitsha-owerri high-way was completed by GEJ, His renoveted Imo airport, supported our business men and women eg Innoson, so many of our people lost their life and rubbery attack on Lagos-Benin road before it's a different story now, these I can remember, not just our region he has done projects for our brothers also but because of the hatered they will never admit.

Have you asked yourself what the other governors in the region from Abia, to cross rivers, eboyin, enugu and anambra what they did with their taxes and allocations since they can not show us one single classroom they built since 1999?

Two governors from the [PDP] - Liyel Imoke of Cross River and Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta States - and Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom State by himself, came to me in Abuja, appealing to me to intervene in the situation of the Governors’ Forum, particularly in the disagreement within the PDP governors. Akpabio said starkly in his frank and outspoken manner: “We have messed up and don’t leave us alone. For me, I don’t want to go to jail and my children are too young. I will report our meeting to the President.” Nobody, including President Jonathan, would like to go to jail, and he knew he could, depending on how things turned out or failed to shape from then on.

I have always seen the Governors’ Forum as a type of trade union as they behave that way most of the time. [Jonathan] told the story of how Obong Atta was relieved of his position as chairman and Lucky Igbinedion was enthroned by less than fifty percent of the governors, and of how Bukola Saraki manoeuvred the Forum to serve his presidential ambition.
So these clowns see JAIL in their future? lmao grin
Politics › Re: OBJ On President Jonathan's Character: by aresa(op): 11:46pm On Dec 12, 2014
[b]I was in Sierra Leone on the day Boko Haram [bombed] the UN building in Abuja. As soon as I returned to Nigeria I called the inspector-general of police to hear his views on the issue. I was not impressed with his explanation. I also talked to the then national security adviser and his explanation was substantially blank. I went to Jonathan, the president, on the same issue. His reaction, and his view that Boko Haram were ‘a bunch of riffraffs’ left me even colder.

The one incident that overtly and graphically exposed the ineptitude, ineffectiveness, inefficiency, carelessness, cluelessness, callousness, insensitivity and selfishness of Goodluck Jonathan was the abduction of about 276 school girls from Chibok in Borno State by Boko Haram. The reaction and attitude of our president and his household was non-belief, to the extent that 18 days passed before he grudgingly concede to accept the reality of the abduction. If serious action had been taken within 48 hours, the story could have been different.

I was not surprised that the president went dancing twenty-four hours after the Nyanya explosion that took seventy-five lives. I also found believable the statement allegedly credited to the president after both the Nyanya explosion and the Chibok school girls abduction to the effect that since some people in the North had said that they would make Nigerian ungovernable, they could keep on killing and abducting each other.

If these girls are not released, it will be a big dent on the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan, and a dark blot on Nigeria’s reputation and history; and, for years and indeed decades, Nigeria will continue to live with the agony and memory of the action and inaction of leadership regarding the Chibok school girls. But what is more, a bad precedent would have been created; Boko Haram has tasted blood and will always want more… Who knows, another group of terrorists might have learned from Boko Haram. This time it is Chibok; next time it could be Ibogun or Otueke.[/b]

Politics › OBJ On President Jonathan's Character: by aresa(op): 11:32pm On Dec 12, 2014
On President Jonathan's character:

Jonathan is lacking in broad vision, knowledge, confidence, understanding, concentration, capacity, sense of security, courage, moral and ethical principles, character and passion to move the nation forward on a fast trajectory. Although he might wish to do well, he does not know how nor does he have the capacity to. To compound his problem he has not surrounded himself with aides sufficiently imbued with the qualities and abilities to help him out. Most of them are greedy hangers-on or hungry lacklustre characters interested only in their mouths and their pockets

President Jonathan can still make amends to save himself, many of his associates in government, his government, and the nation. If, in the end, he fails he will have no one but himself to blame. He has great opportunities, many of which only come once in a lifetime; and if he misses them it will only be due to his inadequacy, myopia, personal interest and self-aggrandisement, lack of sagacity, wisdom. I hope he can and will avoid having any cause for regret.

The longest period that I have met one-on-one with the president was for one hour and ten minutes. That whole time, the president talked about nothing that was in the interest of Nigeria; instead he kept pointing out his supposed enemies and various matters that would not serve his interests. I could not stop myself from blurting out: “Mr. President, no Nigerian should be your enemy. You have to rule over all of them whether or not they like you. Please, you have to be like rain falling on good and bad people alike.”

An elder statesman who formed a close relationship with President Jonathan very early in his presidency came to the conclusion, after six months, that the president has not got what it takes to lead. It was the same elder statesman who reportedly tried to jolt the president into action by telling him that there were five presidents in Nigeria, and these were his wife the first lady, Deziani, Oduah, Ngozi and the president himself, and that he was the weakest of the five.

Just yesterday a CNN Analyst Christian Purefoy was insulted black and blue by Nairaland APC e Warriors because of his honest opinion about the acceptability of Buhari's candidature as APC's flag bearer. To them anyone that speaks against Buhari is a paid agent of Goodluck Jonathan. However, facts emerging from the just concluded APC Presidential primaries suggest that the CNN analyst was right after all. It was discovered that out of a total of 7250 accredited delegates to the primaries, 1,206 of them choose to stay away. Their actions could be interpreted as a clear case of rejection of Buhari's candidature.
On the other hand, a person like Buhari, whom the APC consider as the best Presidential material was expected to clear as much as 70% of the votes to boost his acceptability as the best candidate APC got to offer, but instead he cleared just 57.2% of the total votes cast. This is a clear message that all is not well within the APC.
If Buhari could struggle to get 57.2% to emerge as APC presidential flag bearer, then he has a very slim chance of winning the Presidential elections come 2015.
The analyst was right.
