owobokiri: Are the Hausas comfortable with the undiluted fulani cultural/political/religious domination of the Hausas which came into place after the fulani decimation and annihilation of Hausa kingdoms hundreds of years back? I ask this question because apart from fronting a constant frown, the Hausas sem to have accepted fulani lordship as a perpetual reality from God. Am I wrong ma'am?I believe the conquest happened some 100 years ago and some kingdoms revolted against it. As a result of inter marriage, religion and common culture both parties are okay with the status quo. And I believe both parties have dominated each other. For example, the hausa language and culture is more dominant than Fulani in most northern states |
topelouis: Front page ko, front page ni!it might not get to Frontpage because majority of people prefer ethnic and religious bashing topics. Unfortunately I dont subscribe to that |
Hello Everyone I hope we are all doing well and for our muslim brothers and sisters RAMADAN MUBARAK. May God Fulfill all our heart desires and grant Nigeria ever lasting peace, Amen! For a very long time I have not commented on nairaland because I find this forum foiling disunity and further driving a wedge between our regions and religions. I thought Nairaland was a place where all Nigerians regardless of Region, ethnicity, religion and political affiliation, would exchange ideas, build lasting relationships and further cement our very fragile unity. As a Nigerian, I should be proud to refer any non-nigerian to this forum but I cant because all we do is blame each other. I also have noticed that theres alot of negativity when it comes to issues concerning the North. The North especially the Hausa/ Fulanis are presently being stigmatized and all efforts to humiliate by the sections of the country. Am a Nigerian who is from the North but also has blood links with the South so I try my best to be neutral and from comments on this forum I understand there are many misconception about the North and the people especially (Hausa/ Fulani). I believe in every place and in every religion there are bad eggs and I believe we have more of good than bad in Nigeria. Having said all that , I am here to answer and clear some misconceptions about the North. I employ us to engage in healthy conversation. Decorum and civility should be in our discussion. I don't have the monopoly over knowledge so I will appreciate if some of my sisters and brothers help in answering some of the questions. Always remember that we only have Nigeria and a troubled nation can never give birth to a peaceful nation. One Nigeria is what we have, so my people lets make our diversity our strength. PLEASE NO ETHNIC OR RELIGIOUS BASHING. |

POPE II: Praying for the day you guys will not receive anything. This is a united Nigeria and if any section is aggrieved the right thing to do is to channel the problem through the president. Pope give you some history lesson. Before the white man came we had our educational system and we could write. The writing was influenced by Islam and it's called Ajami (check the old naira note). The only reason why you have more educated southerners is because the missionaries conquered you by sea. That's why you have high number of "western educated" people. The north had structures b4 d white man came. The 1st uni in the world is in timbuktu which was influenced by Islam has been our trade route for hundreds of years. The issue of polio vaccines Hmmm. Our ppl are rejecting it for the following reasons: 1. Our children have been used as lab rats by pharmaceutical industries without proper compensation. This has been going on for years so most ppl don't trust this things down here. Most of them don't fight back and all they say is MUN BAR MA ALLAH or HAKA ALLAH YAso 2. Our ppl know that there is deliberate attempt by world super powers to curtail population boom through sterilization. So do you blame after all ths |
UDbester: Why would the north develop? Is it when they use the small allocation given to them to build mosques or maddressas in every corner of thier livingroom? To a sane person, what does that mean?In your mind u think we use government money to build mosque and madrassas. U r funny ooo. C blatant lie abeg. Pls your proof shikenan |
nextdoor84: Kwankwazo is a fool...let him present his MR competent and lets meet at the polling boot. Am so sorry for you guys from the north..you guys might just end up like northern cameroon!! Better be wise!! When you ruled us for 35 years what the hell can you show for it in southern Nigera..HahHahaa! I dey laugh! I still dey laugh and south will become southern sudan |
POPE II: Malam you will rule your cows and goats not any nigerian. So come here and shine our shoes, you this useless abokiMy dearest friend am disappointed in your comment. Smh! Useless aboki indeed. What has aboki done to you? Even a blind man knows Jona is weak and incompetent. U can evidently c it in his policies 70 per cent car tariff without Things In order, ethnic politics, marginalization of other ethnic groups, vindictive politics and the list goes on Go to Kano and see what kwankoso has done. |
Power is the backbone of industrialisation and for now we do not have stable power so I wonder how this policy will work. I believe the govt is very broke and by increasing tariffs, they will have more funds for 2015. OP don't worry I don't think this policy will be effected as 2015 is round the corner and Jona needs our support. So the last thing he will do is make us suffer more |
Adadio: I was full of admiration when I visited the home of a retired Nigerian Army General from Abia, and saw first hand the microcosmIs it General Nwachukwu (we call him Umar in katsina |
ypepe: Baby mama abeg no kill me!I totally disagree with the highlighted statement. Thank God am a northerner and a muslim so I know what happens in our societies. I am opportune to live in a multicultural environment and from what I deduce the reverse is the case. most of us are happy and polygamy isn't the end of the world. Islam or not African men are polygamous in nature and it's practised all over the continent even by followers of none abrahamic religions. Successa/happiness has nothing with a region, tribe, society bt its solely depends on individual personalities. Do not judge by a small number of ppl you knw who live in miserable marriages in the north. For example, my igbo neighbor isn't dat lucky, he beats her up mercilessly, calls her ashawo ryt infront of the gateman and this is the same woman that pays skul fees for all their kids (4nos) and pays rent too, so dear is it fair for me to say most igbo women live in unhappy marriages |
sagitarius: My office is responsible for monitoring those who get awarded the YouWin grant, and trust me, there's no chopping there. You'll be closely monitored 2 ensure you carry out what you've applied for. The overall objective of YouWin is to create jobs through entrepreneurship so as to reduce dependence on white collar jobs. Extra allowances are paid 2 ensure strict compliance and so it's difficult for anyone 2 compromise. Those who are yet 2 apply but have good business proposals should go ahead and apply. If u need help, u could holla at me too at no cost at all. Cheers everyoneHello! I need to ask you a few questions in private if it's okay with you. I would be happy if you provide me with your email address. Please, how fair is Youwin because my neighbor told me not to submit early As some biz plans are switched and given to ppl with the right connections @ the Youwin office. I also have a frnd who told me that she was asked to split with some insiders if she wanted to win. Are the awards based on geopolitical zones for example they will award 10 grants in each state. Awaiting your answers please |
oluxy: What u guys don't understand about d chairman is this; in Hausa man, women don't be in position to control rather to be slave and be instructed. Women don't talk when they talk.I totally disagree with you. Am a Hausa woman and what you said is false. It has nothing to do with tribe or religion but a rather a personal thing. Moreover most men are like that. |
TechWalker007: You are right only that the people actually playing the tribal and religious card is the North. It has been that way since inception of Nigeria.Do you live in the north? Probably not. Not all you see on paper is true. Is north the only part of the country that he needs to appease, NO. are state projects now federal projects? If akpabio is performing does it mean is jonathan, NO. I disagree with the stmt that he has done more for the North than other parts of the country. But if u hv proof of his performance in the north pls list them I would be happy to check out projects in katsina, kano, kaduna, sokoto, zamfara and kebbi |
POPE II: Well you said igbo join Christians to attack muslimsPresently, there are no ethnic/religious killings in the north except the military crackdown on BH in the south east. However, innocent people are also affected especially young male adults. Remember that in times of war and love none is fair. So all groups, muslims and xtians in the north are guilty of the same crime. As for what kwankwaaso did in Kano, I can't comment since am not resident . However, a friend of mine told me that alcohol was banned in certain parts of kano and businesses found selling alcohol in those areas were punished. |
POPE II: You fought for this one Nigeria starving and slaughtering innocent children now you want to leave? Mbanu . In one Nigeria we believe and stand you are not going anywhere. All I want is freedom , I want to b able to go to kano ,sokoto and have fun northern babes/queens , I want to do business without being called a khafir or nara/anara whatever that means , I want to travel all over the countries . I want to go to church in the North without being bombed . I don't hate Muslims or northerners I can't hate them as a Christian we don't know the word hate besides there are northern Christians . Why are you guys always points fingers at igbos ? Can you differentiate an igbo from a non igboNow you are talking . Pope 2 the states you listed are all safe. Kaduna is a volatile place during elections but I assure it safe. I hate it when my folks use such condescending words as if they hold the key to paradise mtswww. Am sorry for pointing fingers @ igbo but on this forum they seem to be the ones always attacking northerners (hausa's esp). As for having fun with the northerner queens Hmmm. My northern sisters especially hausa/fulani girls are very timid but there are a few open minded ones. You can also do business in the north, no wahala @ all. Again most southerners use the word aboki in a condescending way, it might be a reaction from my people. However, irrespective of our differences we are all wonderful and strong people to survive as a nation. |
POPE II: Is that why your people are closing our businesses up north? Destructing our livestock? Our places of worship/churches? Keep talking with both sides of your mouth Mrs Arewa queen, why is that we never hear from you when our people are being slaughtered like rams? Why is that we don't see northerners making human walls to protect christians from ethnic-religious attacks like your Arab masters do in Egypt with their non muslims?Pope 2 I expect a certain degree of decorum as we are two adults. I do not like your comment of cowards like you, I employ to please not generalize and withdraw your statement. I am not afraid of anything. Yes let's split and go our separate ways and lemme tell you biafra, republic of SS and republic of arewa will both suffer. The igbos aren't even united so my brother what are you saying. You keep screaming BH but the indigineous muslims of Borno and Yobe are the most affected. To be fair to you some of my brothers especially the unemployed ones aren't emulating the good religion of Islam. However, the issue of BH attacking xtians is overblown and not entirely true. Wallahi, 90 per cent of the casualties are indigineous muslims. Secondly, some of your Igbo brothers are also guilty of merging with other xtians to attack muslims. So pls, Igbos should playing victims because they are also guilty. Lastly, please continue hating muslims and northerners and I assure you heart attack will kill you before your time. |
Is sickening being on this forum. The kind of comments from my fellow nairalanders is pathetic. If is not muslim/christian bashing each other then yoruba and Igbo. Please, my sisters and brothers aren't we all tired. As a muslim and a northerner comments on nairaland can breed hatred in my heart but Subhanallah it won't happen. Please nairalanders; 1. Relate to people on their personality not their religion and tribe. 2. We are a multi_ethnic society and no tribe is more superior over other. 3. We are the leaders of tomorrow and hating ourselves won't make Nigeria a better place. We wouldn't want to ruin the country for the future generation. 4. Remember that a troubled nation can never give birth to 2 or more peaceful states. It has never happened and splitting the country won't solve our problems. Case study north and south sudan 5. for those calling for a division of our country Nigeria am sorry to tell you that "IT WILL NEVER SPLIT". 6. Finally, the Ogas @ d top do not think of religion/tribe in milking this country dry. Bottomline, we are our own enemies but there is hope. Nation building is a collective effort both muslims , xtians, traditional worshippers, hausa,Igbo, yoruba, berom, efik etc. Always remember that WE ARE NIGERIANS first before tribe and religion. LOVE YOU ALL |
4kmukina: They went on dia uthman danfodio islamisation mission to CAR witout informing Nigeria, now they are reaping d fruit of dia islamic expansion plan, they are begging Nigeria to send plane to rescue them. Miners ko jihadists ni. Them never see killing, are they now afraid of dieing to go nak 72 virgins akpako? Yeye dey smell. Please reanalyze your comment, read it and think it through, does it make sense to you. Must you give everything a religious/tribal color to it. Ain't you tired of breeding hatred for muslims in your heart. Where is your prove to show that they are jihadist? Nigerians are amazing wallahi. Well the earlier you realize that muslims cannot me exterminated in nigeria and the world the better for you and the earlier you realize that Nigeria is never gonna break up the better for you because it will save you from heartache. |

Kai ana sata kasarnan! With evidences springing up everyday of corruption we still have people screaming GEJ till 2019. |
Sunny_bobo: This is what happens when you have a man with Masters in Islamic studies heading the Central Bank.So because he's an economist you should limit the search of knowledge within that field. So what has he's masters got to do with managing the bank. If he only qualification in islamic studies then it would have been a problem but he's a seasoned economist. Please don't let bigotry lead your judgement of people |
Nawaooo! I don't know where to start from but labaran makus speech is full of lies. Jonathan is a democratic leader so I wonder why politicians play this regional game. As a democratic government no region should have preference over the other. Projects and development should be simultaneously executed all around the country. |
simpleseyi: Maku is right. One of the problems of the North is over-population because Northerners do not practice family planning. Jonathan has been helping to reduce the population of the North by creating Boko Haram (Gen. Patrick Owoye Azazi confirmed this) to kill, maim and destroy the over-blotted population. This is the best thing that could happen to the North, but the worst thing that have happen to them is having someone like Maku as their representative, it is really unfortunate.Spot On |
ejim blessing: I keep telling my friends that my husband is gonna be a very lucky man. It's not as if I'm not beautiful. In short I'm a very pleasant person- creative, expressive, a Poet, good height, an undergraduate of a reputable federal university( that's not under ASUU lol) , brilliant, tenacious, diplomatic, humorous, with gap tooth sef and a blessed upper region. Lol. I'm not advertizing myself here but why is it that people find it hard to believe that virgins( I mean pure virgins) still exist? Make una tell me why oMy dear am a woman like you and kudos to you for maintaining your purity. However, the state of your saexuality is entirely personal/private. Though you said you r not advertising yourself but your post signifies that. Lastly, I pray your spouse appreciates the sacrifice you've made by guarding your chastity, ameen |
MidasT: Yes, remove the religion, then u will experience a completly different northerners; honest, sincere, down to earth, etc. But the way they practice islam in the north is the problem. And ur elite are comfortable with it because it helps them further their selfish political ambition that does not benefit the masses. So Sunusi and the rest should speak up for social changes that does conflict with islam. Eg, the abolishment of the amajiri system. Not just Islam but the brand of religion we all practise in this country is different, Christianity included. Almajiri system has a long history abolishing it is not that easy. Its not a one day thing. Almajiranci is simply a system of education where parents send their children to learn quran and the religion of Islam. Students as far as Niger and Chad come to Nigeria to study. My father told me it wasn't this bad in the 60s , Almajiri would go to quranic schools and we'll as western school. The government of northern Nigeria @ that time enforced it and the welfare of people was properly taken care of (pre-oil times). However, with the population boom, porous borders, several military regimes there has been a laxity from the government. The government of Nigeria and the economy is to blame for this problem. If almajiranci was managed properly in the 50s and 60s why can't it be managed now. You will have to know our history before anything can be done but trust me it can't be abolished |
MidasT: Brother, some of us were born in the north, some lived there for years, some of us schooled there; there is not lie whatsoever in what we are saying. Some of us has experience the intolerance of ur people. U guys need to own up, and start changing.Well in life some of us have good and bad experiences with different tribes around the country and it is human to judge people based on the interactions you've had with them. Am happy with the comment you made. However, we are all not the same. Intolerance could be a personal thing but I assure a northerner is one of the most hospitable, honest and reliable person you could come across in Nigeria. And am a she not he ![]() |
nagoma: 1. Which part of the country has the largest number of armed robbers?Nagoma kayi mun daidai. Wulakancin na ake mana ya ishe mu. |
Hon. SuQ Ma'DIQ:Am not ignorant of the fact that there's poverty, ignorance and almajiranci. I just said their are so many misconceptions people of the south have about us. For example, from the comments I read on nairaland over 80 per cent are really very ignorant of the north.you don't have to make derogatory comment such as lack of vaccination and retards. I assume we all adults here. Some decorum pls |
ifebosco: have you been to the northI am from the north. Born and raised in it. Can you please tell me the problem with the north. What do you mean by the north is another thing. I am interested in clarifying some of the misconceptions people of our region |

the hole country has it´s challanges but the north is another thing,
