PoliticsSSS Probes Sheriff Over Alleged Boko Haram Sponsorship by argon500(op): 5:32pm On Sep 05, 2014
The Department of State Security, said it had summoned a former governor of Borno State, Modu Sheriff, for interrogation over his alleged sponsorship of Boko Haram.
The service stated that it had quizzed Sheriff twice in connection with his alleged involvement with the sect, adding that investigation was ongoing into various aspects of the allegations by the Australian negotiator, Stephen Davies, who named the former governor as one of the financial backers of the sect.
The Deputy Director, DSS Public Relations, Marilyn Ogar, said this on Friday in Abuja while parading the co-mastermind of the Nyanya blast, Sadiq Ogwuche, along with other suspects, Ahmed Abubakar, Muhammad Ishaq, Yau Saidu, Anas Isah and Adamu Yusuf.
Ogar dismissed allegations by Davies that a former Chief of Army Staff, Azubuike Ihejirika, was one of the sponsors of the sect.
She stated that it was “uncharitable for Nigerians to reward someone who laid down his life, to associate him with the sponsorship of the sect.”
Ogar said, “Sheriff has been invited twice and he has been invited again (over his alleged sponsorship of Boko Haram). Investigation is ongoing to review every aspect of Davies allegations.”
The DSS spokeswoman said contrary to claims by Davies that the CBN official who handled the funding of Boko Haram, is an uncle to three of those arrested in connection with the Nyanya bombings, none of the six suspects in the agency’s custody was related to another by blood.
“In other words, none is a cousin or nephew to any other and only two suspects namely Yau Saidu and Anas Isah have ever lived together at the makeshift clinic called ‘Kishi Clinic’ operated by Rufai Tsiga, a co-mastermind of the bomb blast who is still at large,” she explained.
She added that further interrogation of suspects indicated that none lived with or has any relationship with any staff of the CBN, noting that the clarification was necessary to correct the erroneous impression in the media.
Ogar denied that the DSS was the source of the information credited to Davis, describing him as “a self-styled and self-appointed negotiator.”
Ogwuche, who was repatriated to Nigeria from Sudan, denied being a member of Boko Haram in an interview with journalists, stressing that he had no hand in the Nyanya bombings as he was in Sudan at the time of the incident.
The suspect, however, admitted to have donated N30,000 to widows of Boko Haram members through Tsiga, who had been declared wanted for his roles in the Nyanya blast.
Asked why he deserted the Army, he stated that he did it in order to go and study Arabic in Sudan even as he admitted receiving lectures and taking demonstrations with a Jihadist group in Britain before he came back to Nigeria.
He said, “I am not a member of Boko Haram and I don’t know anything about the Nyanya blast. I deny it because I was studying in Sudan when the incident happened.”
Saidu, a boy to the co-mastermind of the blast, however, identified Ogwuche as a regular visitor to Tsiga ‘clinic’ where the plot to bomb Nyanya was hatched.

A yoruba adage says " An artist that is singing rubbish, he also listens to himself" .

Never let all these corrupt politicians deceives you. APC, PDP, APGA or whatever, they are all the same cabal of people holding us on ransom.

Does it mean the people behind boko haram are more powerful than the government?

Whether state government or federal government, which of them have you benefited from?

If you have an opportunity to have stepped outside Nigeria, then you will know that our politicians are ruler/dictator not a leader..

3 years ago, the total electricity generated in Nigeria is not up to what ordinary Heathrow Airport used.. So what are we talking about?

A friend of mine who has been living in Kenya for the past 1 years + said he never experience light off and we call ourself giant of Africa Ant

And moreover, are you the new spoke person for the government cos I am wondering why you are defending them.

M0GIDI: You expected boko haram to reveal to an Australian their chief sponsor abi? You really think they're that stupid, for example how many Alkaieda members did you think would've named Bin Laden as their leader?

Let me say their sponsors name starts with B and ends with I.

Government did not denied Dr Davis when he never mention any name.. Why now?

What took them so long to respond to Dr Davis involvement with negotiating with Boko haram?

Does it mean we shouldn't expect any trial of the people mentioned?

PoliticsDefeating Boko Haram, Others Still Long Road Ahead – Jonathan by argon500(op): 6:51pm On Sep 02, 2014
President Goodluck Jonathan said on Tuesday that the hope of defeating the fundamentalist Islamic sect, Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in Africa is still a long way ahead.
He spoke in Nairobi, Kenya at the opening ceremony of the 455th African Union Peace and Security Council meeting at the Level of Heads of State and Government.
He lamented the worsening insurgent activities of Boko Haram, al-Shabaab and the Lord Resistance Army in parts of Africa while he also commended the past efforts of African leaders to tackle insurgency in the continent.
He said, “While both member states and the Commission deserve to be commended for their commitment and efforts, nonetheless, much remains to be done.
“The atrocities that continue to be committed by the terrorist groups active in the Sahelo-Saharan region, Boko Haram, the LRA, al- Shabaab and other terrorist groups, bear testimony to the long road ahead of us.”
The meeting which was with the theme, ‘terrorism and violent extremism in Africa,’ held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Nairobi, Kenya.
President Jonathan, who also read the speech of the Chairman of the African Union, Ould Aziz, at the occasion, called on African countries to fulfill their earlier commitments to joint action against terrorism in the areas of legal measures, border control and exchange of intelligence.
Though the president identified the roles of social issues like unemployment and poverty in the worsening security problem in the continent, while proffering solution to the menace, he called for enhanced concerted efforts of African leaders in order to defeat the terrorist groups.
He also reiterated the need for the African leaders to deploy the legal and political instruments already at their disposal to tackle insurgency in the continent.
He said, “The first solution relates to the need for enhanced cooperation among member states and between the continent and the rest of the international community.
“Indeed the problem we are confronting is global in nature. Terrorist and organised crime syndicate operate in networks that can only be defeated through concerted action and cooperation. The African Union and its various instruments and mechanisms provide the framework within which we should combine our efforts and pull together our scarce resources.
“The second point pertains to the need for action-oriented approach. We are now well equipped in terms of legal, political and normative instruments. The tasks ahead of us is to ensure their effective implementation.
“The countries concerned should take the steps required to become parties to the relevant African and international instruments. We should as member states fulfill our commitments and obligations, particularly with respect to legal measures, border control, exchange of intelligence and other related measures.”
Earlier, the Chairperson of the Council, Idriss Debby of Chad assured that the Council would do everything possible to end terror in the continent.
On his part, the host President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, called on African leaders to provide the funds needed to fight terrorism to complement external supports from outside Africa.
The meeting was still on as of the time of filing this report.

TV/MoviesBig Brother Africa Postponed After Fire Outbreak In House by argon500(op): 6:18pm On Sep 02, 2014
Big Brother Africa Hotshots which was supposed to begin this Sunday 7th September has been postponed indefinitely after a fire incident at the BBA House in Jo'burg, South Africa. Below is a press release from M-Net.

"M-Net and Endemol SA advise that due to a devastating fire at the Big Brother house on 2 September 2014, Big Brother Hotshots will not launch this Sunday (7 September) as scheduled. The cause of the fire at this stage is unknown and investigations will commence as soon as it is safe to do so."

At this stage, M-Net and Endemol are urgently looking for an alternative Big Brother house in which to film the production, however as this production has highly technical infrastructure, camera and edit requirements an alternative is not immediately available. Every effort will be made to find a solution as quickly as possible to ensure that Africa’s biggest reality show will continue. - See more at:

PoliticsNigeria Lacks Visionary Leadership -atiku by argon500(op): 10:01am On Sep 02, 2014
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said lack of resources is not responsible for Nigeria’s relative under-development, and blamed visionless leadership for the sorry state of the country.
Speaking in Owerri as Chairman, at the Governors Progressive Governance Lecture Series, organised by the All Progressives Congress, he said Nigeria has the resources, but needed “leadership, vision and determination to make things work.”
In his speech, which was sent to journalists in Abuja on Monday, he said the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria has brought to the fore Nigeria’s emergency management response strategies.
According to him, the arrival of the fatal disease calls for urgent need for adequate investments in healthcare, infrastructure and service delivery across the country.
Addressing the inconsistency between Nigeria’s resources and its performance, Abubakar said the statistics were disturbing and that the outbreak of Ebola had only exposed the underbelly of our healthcare system.
Despite Nigeria’s vast resources and human capital, he regretted that the doctor-to-patient ratio in Nigeria still stands at 1 to 6,400 which he said is far below the WHO standard of 1 to 600.
He also lamented that at 50 per cent access to improved water source and 35 per cent adequate sanitation for Nigerians, the country is among the lowest in the world.
On infant and maternal mortality rate of 74 and 630 respectively, the former Vice President said the figures put Nigeria among the worst.
According to him, health is not a privilege, but a right which “every citizen in a modern society is entitled to.”
He explained that security and healthcare are critical areas posing urgent and grave challenges to Nigeria.
He said emphasis on healthcare education is no less important, and that it is embarrassing that in the 21st century Nigerians would be resorting to crude solution of “soaking ourselves in salty water to fight the virulent Ebola virus.”
The former Vice President also lamented the fact that “highly qualified and experienced medical professionals who were trained at public expense but chose to practice abroad.”
He said there should be creative solutions to deal with this situation of investing heavily in healthcare professionals who end up serving abroad.
He explained that in a federal system, states should introduce policies that would attract doctors to serve their needs.
He said, “There is no justification for workers everywhere in the country to earn the same salaries.”

PoliticsAli Modu Sheriff: Me And Boko Haram. by argon500(op): 9:46am On Sep 02, 2014
**I was the one that made the law prohibiting Boko Haram in Borno.
**I was the first victim of Boko Haram in Borno State. In their first attack, they killed my brother, the same father and mother with me.
The Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff who was recently named to be among Boko Haram major sponsors and financier has voiced out his opinion and what he knows about the dreaded sect, he also denies the allegation levied against him by the Australian negotiator who indicted him along with former retired Army chief, Ikejirika as BH sponsors.
Sheriff said records of his activities as governor of Borno State showed that he was against the sect, adding that anybody who links him with Boko Haram must be insane.
His words: “The Boko Haram war as we know it today, started in 2002 in Yobe State. The first attack of Boko Haram was in 2002 in Kanama, from there they ran to Borno State. And in 2002, where was I? I wasn’t a governor. There was a sitting governor in Borno State, and there was Boko Haram. They ran away from Kanama and moved to Gwoza hill!
“But come to think of it, who is Mohammed Yusuf ( first leader of the group)? Yusuf had been in Maiduguri, doing his preaching and later taken to court by the Federal Government, and prosecuted in Abuja, ever before I became a governor. And who was the first casualty of Boko Haram in Borno State? It is me.
“I was the first victim of Boko Haram in Borno State. In their first attack, they killed my brother, the same father and mother with me. That was when they fought with the military in Borno.
“The first casualty was me. Then, they killed my cousin. They killed my candidate for governorship; they killed my party chairman. Two of them were direct relations of mine. Why did they do that? Because I made a law prohibiting Boko Haram in the domain of Borno State.
“The law said anybody practising or associated with what Boko Haram was doing, was banned by law from so doing, and if caught, will be prosecuted and jailed for 25 years”.
On the story by the Australian negotiator, Sheriff said he was shocked as the whole thing looked senseless and baseless.
His words: “The man that purportedly gave the interview said he was an Australian, who said he came to Nigeria, and spoke to Boko Haram. I thought that really, if he is a professional mediator or negotiator, or whatever he calls himself, his report would have been given to the security agencies of Nigeria.
That is number one. Number two, also, if at all he spoke to Boko Haram, before making his views public, he should have known that I have a right of reply.
He should have asked for my reaction or views on his findings, because I am a Nigerian, I am in Nigeria, I didn’t go anywhere. Number three, I was the governor of Borno State for eight years”.

PoliticsBoko Haram: Bama Under Attack, 70 Militants ‘killed’ by argon500(op): 5:54pm On Sep 01, 2014
About 70 members of the Boko Haram terrorists group were said to have been killed by soldiers during an attack on Bama in the early hours of Monday. The insurgents were on a mission to possibly attack and capture Bama but met a fierce resistance from troops of the Nigerian Army stationed on the outskirts of Bama. A top security official in Maiduguri confirmed the attack but did not give casualty figure or state which side suffered more damage. The security official, who did not want to be named as he was not officially cleared to speak, said, “We are still on top of the situation and GOC had assured a beef up of troops from Maiduguri.” But a local vigilante personnel, Abbas Gava, said his colleagues in Bama had informed him that over 70 members of the Boko Haram terrorists group died in the first attack that took place in the early hours of Monday. “They killed over 70 Boko Haram terrorists and injured about 30 of them,” he said. PREMIUM TIMES had gathered from reliable sources in the military that the terrorists had planned to move into Maiduguri from Bama before their mission was aborted. Meanwhile, authorities at the 7 Division of the Nigeria Army in Maiduguri have extended curfew in the city by two hours. The curfew usually commences from 9pm. The Division’s spokesperson, Sani Usman, who issued the statement, said the curfew now starts by 7pm to 6am. Details of the Boko Haram fight would be given later.

Christianity EtcWhat Does It Mean To Be A Born Again Christian? by argon500(op): 1:23pm On Aug 31, 2014
The classic passage from the Bible that answers this question is John 3:1-21. The Lord Jesus Christ is talking to Nicodemus, a prominent Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin (the ruling body of the Jews). Nicodemus had come to Jesus at night with some questions.

As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said, “‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.’ ‘How can a man be born when he is old?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, “You must be born again”’” (John 3:3-7).

The phrase "born again" literally means "born from above." Nicodemus had a real need. He needed a change of his heart—a spiritual transformation. New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes (2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 2:29; 3:9; 4:7; 5:1-4, 18). John 1:12, 13 indicates that being "born again" also carries the idea of "becoming children of God" through trust in the name of Jesus Christ.

The question logically comes, "Why does a person need to be born again?" The apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1 says, "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins" (NKJV). To the Romans he wrote, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Sinners are spiritually “dead”; when they receive spiritual life through faith in Christ, the Bible likens it to a rebirth. Only those who are born again have their sins forgiven and have a relationship with God.

How does that come to be? Ephesians 2:8-9 states, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." When one is saved, he/she has been born again, spiritually renewed, and is now a child of God by right of new birth. Trusting in Jesus Christ, the One who paid the penalty of sin when He died on the cross, is the means to be "born again." "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

If you have never trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, will you consider the prompting of the Holy Spirit as He speaks to your heart? You need to be born again. Will you pray the prayer of repentance and become a new creation in Christ today? "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God" (John 1:12-13).

If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and be born again, here is a sample prayer. Remember, saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. It is only trusting in Christ that can save you from sin. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your salvation. "God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness—the gift of eternal life! Amen!"

Have you made a decision for Christ because of what you have read here? If so, shared this post
Christianity EtcWho God Has Blessed by argon500(op): 1:15pm On Aug 31, 2014
We must first understand that everything we get from God comes through faith. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.” We get salvation by faith and we get everything else that belongs to us because we are born again children of God by faith. Once we are born again then it is up to us to allow our faith to grow and faith only grows one way. Faith only comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

We have supernatural healing, supernatural prosperity and a supernatural life here on this earth, we have been given the power to walk victorious and to have total victory over all the power of Satan. To walk in the blessings of God takes revelation knowledge and faith in the Word of God.

What God has blessed no man can curse. If we are born again children of God then God has placed His blessing upon us and no man can curse us. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
We will always have trials and temptations but that doesn’t stop us from being blessed. As long as we are on this earth we will have to walk by faith. We need to learn to walk in the blessings of God and we need to say what God says about us. He doesn’t take pleasure in our conversation when it goes against His Word. If we are blessed and we are then we need to say what God says about us.
Foreign AffairsMilitary Coup In Lesotho, Prime Minister In Hiding, Seeks Help From South Africa by argon500(op): 4:04pm On Aug 30, 2014
An attempted military coup took place in Lesotho Saturday, the country’s Prime Minister, Thomas Thabane, said in an interview aired by South African broadcaster eNCA.

The Lesotho government is seeking the assistance of the South African government and other neighboring states, Thabane said.

The Prime Minister said that since the Lesotho military was looking for him, he decided “to get out of the way,” and fled to an unknown location.

“In my political life, it was not the first time that I saw this kind of activity by the Lesotho army,” Thabane said. A lot of effort has been made to reform the military and to “make it a normal army that is subject to the civilian authority,” according to Thabane.

He told the broadcaster he would not resign.

Thabane became Prime Minister in 2012, when he formed the kingdom’s first coalition government, according to the CIA World Factbook. Elections are next due in 2017.

Lesotho, a landlocked enclave of South Africa, has a population of nearly 2 million and covers an area slightly smaller than the U.S. state of Maryland, according to the World Factbook.

Politics2015: Sule Lamido’s Entry Rattles Presidency, PDP by argon500(op): 1:06pm On Aug 30, 2014
SUBTLE trouble is brewing at the Presidency over the last-minute decision of Jigawa State Governor, Dr. Sule Lamido, to challenge President Goodluck Jonathan in next year’s presidential election.
The two-term governor’s decision is said to have rattled President Jonathan and the party, which had long concluded that the race would be a straight fight between the president and others from the opposition parties.
In fact, given its internal permutations, the PDP believes that Jonathan would have a smooth sail to the election, as no other candidate would be able to challenge him and get victory at its planned national convention, which some see as a mere formality for the incumbent to be crowned.

However, Saturday Vanguard gathered from very reliable Presidential sources that there is apprehension in the Presidency following the confirmation of Lamido’s plans.
One of the sources said that the Presidency and the PDP had initially dismissed the rumoured ambition of the governor with the hope that it was mere speculation that would fizzle out with time.
A reliable source said that based on the information that Lamido had concluded plans to run for the presidency, Jonathan immediately summoned him to the Presidential Villa to clear the air on the issue.
One of the sources said that Jonathan was shell shocked when Lamido stormed the Villa recently and told the President openly that he was keen on running in the next polls.
“At that point, the President was shocked to hear from Lamido that his presidential ambition should not be seen as mere rumour, as he had made up his mind to run against him,” a presidential source said.
“The way Lamido spoke with the President showed that he was not ready to back down from the race and the way he spoke about the matter was a bit unsettling to Mr. President, who had all along regarded him as one of the governors, who could not move against him,” the source explained.
Lamido was said to have told the President that he had made up his mind to contest against him in the next polls despite a deliberate attempt by forces opposed to his ambition to frame him and his children up.
The governor, it was learnt, told the President that he was upset by the frequent embarrassment of his children by some agencies of government over allegations that one of them passed through an airport without declaring $40,000 in his possession.
He is said to have also drawn the president’s attention to the fact that there was a deliberate attempt by government agencies to tarnish his family’s image all in a bid to make him drop his presidential ambition but that he was not ready to back out of the race.
The action of the governor is said to have angered the Presidency, which promptly reported him to the National leadership of the PDP and asked it to call him to order.
It was learnt that Lamido was emboldened to go for the top job by some of his governor friends and prominent Nigerian leaders, who are uncomfortable with the way things are going in the land.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is a friend and father figure to Lamido.
Almost at the same time early in the month, documents began to fly about that Lamido received gratification of N1.3 billion from two contractors, who had completed two projects valued at N13 billion.
Although an EFCC agent admitted last night that the agency had been investigating the Lamido family for a long time, he denied that the information on the N1.3 billion bribe allegation was instigated by the Presidency.
“Let me tell you that since we arrested Lamido’s son at the airport over non-declaration of $40,000, our operatives have been investigating the family’s account and it is not at the instance of the Presidency as some people are alleging,” the EFCC official said.
But confronted yesterday to confirm or deny his rumoured ambition, Lamido declined to make a categorical statement on the matter.
The governor however foreclosed the possibility of going to the Senate as is the practice of most of his outgoing colleagues.
According to him, the atmosphere for him to become president is not yet there, adding that it is better for him to seek a higher office than to go the legislature to make laws after implementing laws passed by others for eight years.

PoliticsThey Killed My Sons, Now They Want My Life – Sheikh Zakzaky by argon500(op): 11:35am On Aug 29, 2014
Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, has disclosed alleged plan by the Nigerian security agents to orchestrate his death.
Sheik Zakzaky, who spoke at the end of a weekly Tafsir held at the Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah, Zaria, on Wednesday, said he had uncovered a plot to unleash further violence on the forthcoming fortieth day prayer session for members of the movement recently killed by soldiers in Zaria, scheduled for Wednesday.
According to Sheik Zakzaky, the government still wanted to shed more innocent blood
“The fact is that they have killed three of my sons; specifically, they still want more; it is my life they are after now at all costs.
“These days, we pass by pre-planned security ambushes whenever we went to or come back from Hussainiyyah. On Monday, they ignited a false flag chaos at one filling station with the full intention to shoot. We don’t know why they stationed soldiers there. They are still there since after the incident occurred.
“The government has its own “Shia” among the security, whom they use to ignite and instigate chaos. They were told to be on red alert, as they were going to be attacked,” he said.
According to the Sheik, “A group of snipers in suits, headed by one professional sniper called Nyam, was on standby. Nyam and his team were seen passing along Hussainiyyah to where they were lodged. They were specially brought here to kill.”
He further alleged that the sole aim of the authorities was to cause chaos and anarchy in the country, not minding the consequences.
“We have information that they planned to detonate bombs during the fortieth day prayer congregation. They have also produced many red and black flags with Ya Husain inscription. The flags are there in the barracks right now. It is possible they will unleash an offensive, then place a flag there and attribute it to Shi’a. They may also use the flags to infiltrate the fortieth day prayer session, and be part of it.
“We also learnt that they are going to receive a delivery of dangerous weapons that would be used for the first time on us,” Sheik Zakzaky told his congregation.

PoliticsNANS Endorses President Goodluck Jonathan For Second Term by argon500(op): 11:26am On Aug 29, 2014
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Thursday endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan to run for a second term in office.
The President of NANS, Mr Yinka Gbadebo, who led the National Executive members of the association on a courtesy visit to the First Lady, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan, expressed their support at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The delegation, which passed a vote of confidence on Jonathan, also presented a certificate of credence to Dame Jonathan for her pursuit of peace and empowerment of women and the youth.
“As pragmatic and visionary Nigerians, we can see through the veil of distraction and boldly applaud the Goodluck administration for infrastructural and social transformation.
“We have unflinchingly determined to put all political detractors and evil geniuses to shame in 2015 by giving Mr President the singular and total support of all Nigerian students.
“As a united association, all students have been mandated to cast their votes for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to emerge victorious and continue the good works of transformation,’’ he said.
Gbadebo noted that in order to actualise this, NANS had floated the Nigerian Students Transformation Vanguard to champion this cause.
The NANS president commended Jonathan for his support to Nigerian students and youths by appointing six past NANS leaders in his administration.
According to him, the past leaders included the Ministers of Information and Education, Mr Labaran Maku and Alhaji Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, respectively.
Others are the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Kingsley Kuku, and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students and Youth matters, Mr Jude Imagwe.
Responding, Dame Jonathan while expressing her love and support for NANS, commended its leadership for consistent constructive engagement on national issues.
“Especially at this time when some Nigerians take advantage of every situation without concern for national security.
“This really shows that our youths are coming of age and that they can be relied upon in the task of nation building.
“Today, our youths in the tertiary institutions are hard-working and are hopeful of a better future for this country, in spite of our challenges,’’ the first lady said.
She urged them to continue in their constructive engagements on national issues and lend voices to positive moves in the interest of the nation.
“Your organisation should continue to champion the cause of peace in our nation as no nation progresses in an atmosphere of insecurity.
“As students, you cannot stay in school if there is no peace. Therefore do not allow anyone to use you as agents of destabilisation.
“You must resist the temptation of being used by politicians as thugs during elections.
“You should learn to be patriotic and not be a willing tool in the hands of those bent of sowing seeds of discord among our people,’’ she charged them.
She said “as mothers, we are praying for you because we love you, you are our future, our hope. You must therefore remember the children of whom you are and face your studies squarely’’. (NAN)

HealthDoctors Find 38-year-old Baby Skeleton Inside Woman's Body by argon500(op): 6:00pm On Aug 26, 2014
How are you feeling right now? Do you have a little stomach pain? In that case, you may want to get yourself to a doctor because you could have a 38-year-old baby skeleton camping out in your abdomen. Sixty-two-year-old Jyoti Kumar did.

Kumar, from central India, had an ectopic pregnancy when she was 24. Dr. Mohammad Yunus Shah told the Daily Mail, "She apparently knew that the baby had died and that she would need an operation, and we gathered she got scared at the prospect of surgery and so went away to her village without undergoing the operation." Shah and other doctors think Kumar's is the longest ectopic pregnancy ever recorded.

Kumar went to the doctor complaining of stomach pain recently. Here's what Shah and his team found when they operated:

Shah says the skeleton (obviously) matured beyond the fetus stage. The Mail reports:

The team of surgeons discovered a mass containing a matured skeleton encapsulated in a calcified sac. The mass was found between the uterus, the intestines and bladder, densely stuck to all the organs. "The amniotic fluid that protects the fetus might have been absorbed and the soft tissues liquefied over time with only a bag of bones with some fluid remaining," Shah said.

How's your stomach feeling now?

Mine was at the age of 17

It was so romantic, too. It was up in my room when my parents were gone, it was raining hard outside and the window was slightly opened right beside my bed.

He guided me down onto the bed and gently kissed me with the rain pouring in slightly and the wind blowing on us.

Too bad the actual kissing part wasn't that great, but the environment was movie-worthy.
