New York- Deeper Life Pastor Nabbed By FBI In Multimillion-dollar Mortgage Fraud The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed reports linking New York-based pastor and lawyer, Eric Abakporo, to “despicable” fraud: the theft of the life savings of an elderly African-American woman through deceit and lies. Eric Abakporo, a Deeper Life pastor and attorney, and a cohort, Latanya Pierce, were arrested for swindling the 78 year-old woman and stiffing a bank with a phony $1.8 million mortgage loan. And Jose Mourinho's quest to win a third Champions League trophy with a third different club will have to wait. |
So that is that then. Bayern Munich will host Chelsea in the Champions League final at the Allianz Arena next month. What a night of drama in Madrid |
If it is a Bayern vs Chelsea final, with all those absentees, I think the only plausible idea is to have a 5 a side match. |

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika, has identified sour civilian-military relationship as a major hindrance to the army’s effort to stop the insurgence of the dreaded Boko Haram Islamist sect. Ihejirika said the Army needs information to ascertain the sect’s centre of gravity. He said the task before the Army and other security agencies were premised on intelligence, which was largely dependent on information supplied by the civilian population, which were not easy to obtain. The Army Chief stated this at the closing of one-week capacity building workshop for Commanding Officers from 1 and 3 Divisions held in Kaduna at the weekend. Ihejirika said it was unfortunate that the same civilian population who expected the military to perform magic by wiping out the terrorists group at once was not ready to provide them with information. Represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Mechanized Division, Kaduna, Major General Garba Wahab, Ihejirika added that, “without those information, we cannot determine the centre of gravity of these guys, that is the unique problem we have. “This is why we are appealing to the public, because the essence of the whole thing we are doing is premise on information and intelligence. The same people who want us to come out and perform magic are not ready to give us information.“We have two ways of doing our job. It is either we go attrition or maneuvering. If we go attrition, the whole world we call us and say we have killed one million people in Bauchi and 1, 000 in so, so place. “If we go maneuvering, what we are looking for is the centre of gravity; what is that thing that makes this organization perform?” he said. He therefore tasked the participants (commanding officers) to embark in psychological operation in collaboration with the media and the entire citizenry to be able to obtain information that would aid them in the task of ensuring the safety of every Nigerian. “You must therefore go out of your various offices and socialize. I mean, you must go out and relate with people who matters, who will provide you with information to help you perform your job. These you must do, no matter how low or high the person is,” he said. While he reminded them that the task before them was that of terrorism, Ihejerika told the participants who were the commanding officers of the various military formations and troops in the North-east and North-west of the country to always be prepared and form alliances among themselves. “You must be prepared; prepare your personnel, prepare your material, prepare your doctrine; how you want to go about it. In addition, form up alliances; liaise with people. Nobody will come to you with any information. Nobody will come to you with anything; you must go out and look for it. “You must prevent what is undesirable if you are not to be disgraced or embarrassed. You must protect everything within your domain; civilians, military personnel, resources, materials and whatever. And at the same time, you must be ready to pursue the adversary, if you don’t, you will give the man the freedom of action,” the Army Chief warned. Ihejirika told the participants to accord importance to motivation of their soldiers to ensure the accomplishment of their mission, adding that, they were the eyes of the Nigerian Army in their respective domains. http://odili.net/news/source/2012/apr/15/501.html |

Spanish police said on Sunday they had smashed a Nigerian ring that smuggled cocaine and other drugs into Spain and the rest of Europe from Latin America and Africa, arresting 15 people, Agence France Presse reports. The group, based in the Madrid suburb of Alcala de Henares, use drug mules who injest pellets filled with drugs and avoid detection at airports, the police said in a statement. Police seized about 18 pounds of cocaine and 17,000 euros in cash as part of their investigation, which began in September 2011. The majority of those arrested were Nigerian citizens. Police carried out their first arrest as part of the operation in October 2011 at the airport at Palma de Majorca of a man who had swallowed 77 pellets of cocaine. Later that month police detained another man at the same airport who had swallowed 68 pellets of cocaine. "These people had been sent by the organisation to Madrid to collect cocaine from other members of the ring which based in Alcala de Henares. From there they would also send mules to South America and Africa to collect the drug," a police statement said. Spain's proximity to north Africa, a key source of hashish, and its close ties with its former colonies in Latin America, a major cocaine producing region, have made it a major gateway into Europe for drug traffickers. http://odili.net/news/source/2012/apr/9/817.html |

Dateline Abuja, November 25, 2010. When an Iranian merchant, Azim Aghajani, was docked before a Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja on allegation that he attempted to smuggle 13 containers laden with rockets and other ammunition into the country, many Nigerians wondered what could have triggered such eerie transaction. They had to. Specifically, Aghajani, whose case was subsequently transferred to Lagos where his uncanny merchandise was intercepted by security agencies on October 25, 2010, was arraigned alongside three Nigerians, Ali Usman Abbas Jega, Aliyu Oroji Wamako and Muhammad Tukur Umar, who were said to be his co-conspirators - mind you, the three had names that bore resemblance to Nigeria's men of power and means and that may have been for effect (Jega – INEC boss is Attahiru Jega; Wamako - Magatarkda Wamako is governor of Sokoto State; and Tukur - Bamangar Tukur has just been installed as national chairman of PDP) Though it was whispered in some quarters that the goods were headed for Gambia and ought not to have berthed in Nigeria – if not for alleged over-zealousness on the part of security agencies patrolling our territorial waterways, the federal government which initiated the case against them, however, said the accused persons made attempts to conceal the content of the containers by lying that they were conveying building materials. Meantime, two years after that incident occurred, the State Security Service, SSS, and related agencies, are still battling to unravel the hidden fingers behind the seeming terrorist attacks by suspected members of the Jammatul Sunnah Walid Jihad, a.k.a Boko Haram. It would be recalled that even President Goodluck Jonathan had at a time, alleged that members of the dreaded terrorist sect has infiltrated his administration, an allegation that gave breath to an earlier boast by the group which said it has loyalists in all spheres of governance in the country. Consequently, it was not surprising when the SSS, on November 21, arrested a lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District, Mohammed Ali Ndume, after a self-confessed spokesman of the sect, Ali Sanda Umar Konduga, fingered him as one of their major financiers. His ongoing trial before Justice Gabriel Kolawole of a Federal High Court in Abuja has further provided more insight into the activities of the sect, though it has heightened tension within the corridors of powers following an affidavit that has subtly entangled the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, to the case. In a 24-paragraph affidavit he has deposed before the trial court, Ndume admitted having telephone exchanges with members of the sect, saying the VP was aware that such convivial relationship existed between him and the Boko Haram sect. The latest is the revelation which came from the SSS at a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided by Justice Adamu Bello, of how an alleged link-man between the Boko Haram Islamic sect and Al-Qaeda terrorist network, Mallam Mohammed Ashafa, was apprehended by the Pakistani government through the National intelligence Agency, NIA, and handed over to the federal government for prosecution. SSS made the disclosure on a day one of its retired investigative agents, Mr Bukar Tarha, testified as a witness of the federal government. Tarha told the court that Ashafa who is a 46-year old man of about 5.4 in height, while under interrogation, confessed his complicity in both national and international acts of terrorism, saying he facilitated exchange programs between Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram. The case got an added piquancy when the witness who said he retired from the SSS into private practice in 2008, revealed that the Resident Chief of Al-Qaeda network in West Africa, identified as Mallam Adnan Ibrahim, resides in Kano, a city that has witnessed unprecedented terrorist attacks in recent times. In the hierarchy of Al-Qaeda within the sub-Sahara, Ashafa is alleged to be the second in command to Mallam Ibrahim. In his testimony on Tuesday, the retired SSS agent, Tarha, disclosed that when he was head of the anti-terrorism department of the agency, Ashafa was kept under his custody between 2005 and 2006. He said there was a forwarding letter with a brief that Ashafa was intercepted at the Pakistani Airport in 2004 and subsequent search and investigation by the Pakistani authorities revealed that he was a member of Al-Qaeda and that he was sent to Pakistan by the Resident Chief of Al-Qaeda in West Africa, Mallam Ibrahim. He said the accused person was intercepted on his way back to Nigeria with CDs containing coded messages for the West African Chief of Al-Qaeda, saying, "Four months after I took over the schedules of the head of the anti-terrorism department, other suspects were also intercepted and handed over to the Nigerian government by the Libyan government. "Subsequent interrogation of the suspects revealed that it was Ashafa who took them for terrorism training in the Sahel Region", he added. Tarha said he interrogated Adnan Ibrahim in 2006 when he was intercepted by the Libyan authorities and Ibrahim confirmed to him that he sent Ashafa to Pakistan and Ashafa with another Nigerian terrorist identified as Yusuf Ahamed made him transport Nigerians for terrorism training in the Sahel Region. Ashafa is currently facing a five-count charge of receiving monetary payments from Talha and Na’deem (Al-Qaeda operatives) of the Tabliqh headquarters, Lahore, Pakistan, for recruiting and training terrorists. The alleged terrorist had earlier accused the SSS of unduly maltreating him in custody, saying he was kept in a dark underground cell for seven days. Justice Bello has adjourned further hearing on the case till May 9. http://odili.net/news/source/2012/apr/8/335.html |
