Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has produced 17 first-class graduates in the November 2023 Nigerian Law School Bar Final Examinations.

The results of the examinations have just been released by the Council of Legal Education.

The university’s Director of Communications and Marketing , Dr Joshua Suleiman, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday.

The 17 of them are said to represent five per cent of the candidates from all Faculties of Law in Nigeria who sat for the examination.
The statement partly read, “In 2021, Babcock University produced 10 first-class graduates at the Nigerian Law School.

“That year, Babcock University law graduate, Mayowa Abiru, emerged overall, the best student in the Bar Examinations.

“Since 2019 till date, except in 2020, at least, one Babcock University graduate has won the BOSAN Scholar award.

“An elated President/Vice Chancellor, Prof Ademola Tayo, has sent his congratulatory messages to the students for their incredible feats.

“He noted that the achievements of the students underscored the significance of the teaching and learning approach at Babcock University and the commitment to shaping the human mind and society through impactful quality education and faculty.

“Prof Tayo equally congratulated the lecturers for their devotion to the training of the students at the University’s School of Law and Security Studies.”

The Minority Leader in the Nigerian Senate, Mr. Enyinnaya Abaribe has said that in a hypothetical referendum for Biafra, he would vote yes. He made the declaration in an interview with Rudolf Okonkwo of Irokopost TV. “I will vote for us to actually be on our own,” he said. “I think we are being dragged down by all the different things that weigh Nigeria down.”

The senator representing Abia-South Constituency in the Senate, however, warned that the Nigerian constitution does not have a provision for a referendum. “Which means, if you want a referendum, you have to go outside the constitution,” he continued. “Jettisoning the 1999 constitution requires having a meeting of all the different groups in Nigeria and having them agree to set that constitution aside and have a conference to agree on a new thing.” He said those who are benefiting from the current structure would always ignore that suggestion.

Mr. Abaribe challenged different Biafran groups to come together under one umbrella to avoid dissipating energy needed to focus and get to a particular position. “While we look for getting out of Nigeria, we should also, at this time, use the resources that we have to be able to make our homeland a better place for us,” he insisted. “Because if we are not doing anything with the resources that we already have, what is the guarantee that going into Biafra will give us a better frame of mind?”

Two Republican senators are asking President Trump to protect Christians facing ongoing brutal persecution from Islamic groups in Nigeria.

Iowa senators Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley recently sent him a letter, asking the president to consider deploying a special envoy to help end the Christian genocide in Nigeria.

In their letter, the senators point to 40,000 Nigerian deaths tied to the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.

Along with other Islamic militants known as the Fulani herdsmen, the Boko Haram has long threatened the lives of Christians in the West African country.

Two years ago during a meeting, President Trump asked Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to protect "innocent civilians of all faiths."

But Ernst and Grassley want more done to protect the lives of Christians.

As CBN News reported earlier this month, a report released by a Nigerian organization estimates around 620 Christians were killed in the African country by Islamic militants during the first five months of 2020 alone.

The International Society for Civil Liberties & Rule of Law (ISCLRL), an organization not aligned with the Nigerian government, released the report which also warned militant Fulani herdsmen and the Boko Haram have intensified their anti-Christian violence in the old Middle Belt and Northeast regions of the country with the burning or destroying of Christian centers of worship and learning. In addition, hundreds of homes have been destroyed.

The ISCLRL headed by Christian Emeka Umeagbalasi noted in its report no fewer than 620 defenseless Christians have been killed since the year began with no reprisal action taken by the government or the Nigerian military forces against the Fulani or the Boko Haram.

"The atrocities against Christians have gone unchecked and risen to alarming apogee with the country's security forces and concerned political actors looking the other way or colluding with the Jihadists," the report said.

The organization also estimated that more than 32,000 Christians have been killed there by Islamic militants since 2009.

The mainstream media in the US has remained largely silent as the Muslim terrorists' merciless killing of Nigerian Christians rages on.

Nigeria is ranked 12th on Open Doors' 2020 World Watch List of countries where Christians suffer the most persecution.

The Presidency has come under attack over its recent statement accusing the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of setting Nigeria against some of its allies, such as the US, UK and the European Union.

Garba Shehu in a statement on Sunday had warned Nigerians and the international community of the move it described as a most misleading campaign wherein IPOB uses false allegations of persecution of Christians against the Nigerian State.

The Presidency claimed that the campaign which had been receiving monthly funding of $85,000 USD since October 2019 had started gaining steam with some officials of the American government, including the Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.

The statement by the Presidency has since been met with controversial reactions from Nigerians.

Some took to their social media pages calling on the government to also channel such criticisms and allegations towards Miyetti Allah and Fulani herdsmen allegedly responsible for killings in Kaduna.

DAILY POST recalls that National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Abdullahi had announced that his organisation hats concluded arrangements to flag-off its own security outfit to be deployed across the country.

The Fulani leader said that Nigeria belongs to the Fulanis and they will rule forever.

Nnamdi Kanu’s Parent’s Burial: IPOB leader sets trap for Army, issues fresh threats to Gen.Buratai

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has ordered the installation of a Closed-Circuit Television, CCTV, camera in his family compound in Afaraukwu, Abia State, ahead of his parents’ burial.


Kanu explained that the installation of the CCTV cameras would monitor the activities of the Nigerian Army during the burial ceremony of his parents on Friday.

The IPOB leader, who spoke during his latest live broadcast on Radio Biafra threatened to kill the children of the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai if any IPOB member was injured during the burial ceremony.


According to Kanu: “We have fixed cameras everywhere. I need evidence to show to the world when they (Nigerian Army) come to my father’s compound to kill on the day of the funeral.

“CCTV cameras are everywhere in my father’s compound, the zoo Army should know we will be watching all their activities on that day. I am warning them, if any IPOB member is killed, we will retaliate. I will kill all their children and submit myself for arrest.

“If anything happens to any IPOB member on the 14th of February all your children will be killed. If they kill anybody in my father’s compound on the 14th of February, all the children of the Army commanders will be killed.


“All of you including Buratai, all your children will be killed. Every police commissioner, commanders, give me the addresses, I am giving you an order, get me their names. I will kill them if they kill anybody in my home town on the 14th of February, leave us alone, we are not armed.

“If you come to my parents’ funeral and shoot, we will kill all your children, if you like go and hide them in Saudi Arabia, we will find them and kill all your children. You will know what it means to buy a casket, your names will be wiped out. I will submit myself for arrest after we kill them.”
