Politics / Re: Three Reasons Why Igbos Should Not Participate In Endsars Protest by ArmedRobber: 7:28am On Oct 10, 2020
gidgiddy:
I have often said it here on Nairaland that SARS is a state sponsored terrorist organisation and I stand by it. They have killed and brutalised many innocent people.

However, I think that we Igbos should not participate in the Endsars protest despite the fact that many Igbos have been the innocent victims of SARS.

1) Endsars is pointless. The government of Buhari, which we all know is more for Northern interests, will not end SARS. The extra-judicial killings, torture and brutality of SARS is mainly in the South of Nigeria, it hardly affects the North. SARS cannot be ended without Buhari's permission and if it is not affecting the North, why would he end it?

2) Even if SARS is ended or scrapped, will that really change any thing? The Police, Army, Navy, DSS and other armed forces will still be brutalising and killing innocent Nigerians daily just like SARS. Wether you end SARS or not, other arms of the armed forces will still be doing exactly what SARS is doing. The protest should not have been Endsars, it should have been 'end armed forces brutality and illegal killing'

3) Nigerians can be hypocrites. Many of those protesting Endsars are the same people who kept silent when different branches of the armed forces were shooting and killing unarmed IPOB protesters. Some of them are happy when they see unarmed innocent Biafran protesters killed, tortured, made to lay lay down in muddy water, dehumanised and detained. They dont care because its not their tribe or Region. They only remember that injustice is a bad thing when SARS is doing it to their people. They dont know that the injustice you support or ignore today may become the injustice that may be done to you tomorrow

I think that Igbos should not participate in Endsars protest for these reasons
end sarz within 48hours protest have gone international, now trending in usa,uk,canada south africa.
It shows you igbos re irrelevant in scheme of things.

Federal govt this is an injustice to ogun and lagos, they re recieving less than what they generate.
Ogun state should receive equivalent of what 4 South East states collect as allocation

It is injustice for Lagos and ogun to be recieving less than what that re generating.
Restructuring where states controls 75% while they remit 25% to federal purse is a way to go.

The index in Tuesday's report revealed that the IGR of Lagos State, put at N204 billion, is higher than that of at least 29 states put together.
ByKabiru Yusuf October 7, 2020 2 min read
The quartet of Lagos, Rivers, the FCT and Ogun State raked in a total internally generated revenue more than all other 33 states of the federation combined in the first half of 2020, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.

The NBS said the 36 states of the federation and federal capital territory generated N612.87 billion in the first half of 2020.

Of the total amount, the aforementioned states and the capital city earned N335 billion, equivalent to 54 per cent. Other states made a total of N277 billion (46 per cent).

The index in Tuesday’s report revealed that the IGR of Lagos State, put at N204 billion, is higher than that of at least 29 states put together, with only Rivers, FCT, Ogun, Delta, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, and Kano states as exceptions.

Rivers State comes a distant second with N65 billion.

Behind the top two are the FCT with N35 billion, Ogun State, N30 billion, Delta State, N23 billion, and Oyo State N17 billion.

Trailing them are Akwa Ibom with N17 billion, Kano, N16 billion. Kaduna and Edo are next with each earning N14 billion.

Sitting at the foot of the index are Benue states with N5 billion; Sokoto, N4 billion, about the same amount made by Taraba and Niger state.

Other poor internal revenue earners are Yobe state which generated N3.94 billion; Gombe with N3.78 billion; Adamawa, N3.75 billion; Ekiti, N3.2 billion. Jigawa State is the rock bottom IGR earner with N3 billion.

The report noted Internal revenues are generated by states through Pay-As-You-Earn Tax (PAYE), direct assessment, road taxes, other taxes and revenues from ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

The Report
Details of the NBS report said states internally generated revenue (IGR) totalled N612.87bn as compared to N693.91bn recorded in H1 2019, a reduction of about N81 billion.

This indicates a negative growth of -11.7% year on year, the bureau noted.

Similarly, in the Q2 2020, states and FCT IGR figure hit N259.73 bn compared to N353.14bn bn recorded in Q1 2020. This also indicates a negative growth of -26.5% from the first quarter.

According to the report, FCT, Lagos and Ogun are the only states that generated more revenue than their allocations from the federation account, an indication that a drop in oil prices, the nation’s lifeblood, would have a ripple effect on the other states.

Lagos and Ogun share the same border in South-West Nigeria.

Further breakdown of the report revealed that the net federation account (FAAC) in the first half of the year 2020 was put at N1.1 trillion, while the total revenue available to the states including the FCT was put at N1.73 trillion.

In 2019, apart from Lagos and Ogun, only the FCT generated more revenue than it did federal allocation too.

North central 14m

Amaechi like other APC Northern Governors and Chieftains are headed back to PDP ahead of 2023 when the disintegration of APC reaches it Climax.
They already have one leg inside APC and another leg in PDP, they all know the inevitable that there is no future for APC as Buhari tenure come to an end by 2023. The APC convention by this year to elect a new NWC will finally see some of the power blocs pull out.
They various political blocks like ACN, CPC, nPDP that formed APC are already perfecting their moves to stay relevant.
The likes of Saraki, Kwankwaso, Tambuwal and other nPDP members that have returned back to PDP, will facilitate PDP accepting him back.
The PDP NWC, NEC and BOT will have to do a very thorough job of intergrating Wike Faction, Amaechi faction and Magnus Abe faction into the politics structures of Rivers PDP.
ariara Tales by moonlight.
APC merger was built on Acn and cpc pillar, thats the reason why ameachi and el rufai can never be relevant outside their state.
APC lost Edo because osho disrespected the presidency after he agreed with buhari to allow obaseki to contest as a condition for his court case to be stopped.
Those that want APC to break dont have stake in it, acn had the highest state governors, and lawmakers followed by CPC .
Ameachi , fayemi, elrufai re waisting their timecheesy

PDP troubles will start next convention that will hold this December.
Power can only go to south if secondus position is zoned to North, but secondus and Atiku re desperately trying to retain his seat against majority of governors wish.
Didnt you read that south west pdp faction led by seyi makinde re anti secondus, south east governors too want to give presidency a shot.

Wait till pdp drama start, by then Apc will be the one to harvest their remaining organscheesy
