This Japanese team is actually terrible. I never see Kagawa for this game.

If they were the ones who got that 3rd minute red card they would be 5 - 0 down right now. Mtcheew

This game will probably end in a draw if Japan don't score another goal before half time.

Despite their numerical advantage they are inviting pressure on their back line. And Colombia have some deadly men upfront.

The love for football in most South American countries is maddening.

I heard that the killers of that Redeemed pastor in Abuja sone time last year, have been released.

Same as the killers of the Deeper Life pastor's wife.

But now that the shoe is on the other leg, there's no mercy right?

All hail the religion of peace. One day you guys will get your 'rewards' for these blatant acts of wickedness and oppression... And it wouldn't be easy for y'all.

Sanchez stay at Arsenal, you say No.

Oya go Man City where you will win things and play under the best coach, you say No.

Play for Utd the way you play for Arsenal. Problem.

Now they want to take away your No. 7 jersey and probably start leaving you on the bench.

Well, you followed money and you are getting it in truckloads -- so no need to blow your fuse if your Jersey number is snagged. Just wait till the end of every week to kiss that fat check.

I prefer that you've a functioning brain (intellect and wisdom) and impeccable character. If you have FINE face and big jugs join, then it is finished.

Sad thing is that most very pretty ladies are proper air heads. Perhaps they think the world should grovel at their feet because they're beautiful.

The only African country that will get outta their group.

They are a bit like the Ghanaian team of 2010: Rugged defense (that Hegazi guy is a beast), they defend really well as a team, they don't cough up many chances.

They have that one creative force, Salah. Ghana had Prince Boateng.

The only thing they like is a decent striker upfront like Gyan. So the onus rests on the shoulders of Mo Salah. Ironically, Ramos 'battered' that shoulder a few weeks back.

Why Super Eagles always does this to me I can't say. They bring my hopes up, only to later bring it crashing down.

What went wrong today are the same problems virtually every African team have against European & South American oppositions:

Better preparations than us.

Better players all round.

Better footballing brain etc.

The advantage we used to have over them was physicality and searing pace. But even they have caught up with us on those counts.

Did you see the Icelandic players today? They will kick this crop of Eagles off the park very comfortably

The Ghanaian team of 2010 did so well because they combined physicality with pace and defended as a team (something Egypt did well). Then they had a creative force in Kevin Boateng and a decent striker in Gyan.

If you watched today, we couldn't even muster clear cut chances. Mehn, I am just frustrated. That's honestly the last Nigerian game I'll watch at this tournament. We gat a looooooong way to go.

P.S. Etebo is a BALLER. I only really realized that today.

Mandzukic is playing as a target man and doing a terrific job of it. What is Ighalo playing as?

Mehn, I tire for our style of play.

We can't press them properly from the front even while losing?

Well, let's hope they come with their usual secibe half ginger.

This is just sooooo stupid.

True football fans adore these two players that we've had the privilege if watching week in, week out. Appreciate the geniuses that they are. Enjoy the moments that they give and stop being nagging fan girls trying to out do the other on who is better.

It's too much work and too childish.

And they are also specialists at crosses.

I fear for our Eagles because they're suspect at defending crosses.

See the countries that didn't vote them from Africa. They all have useless national teams that haven't been to the WC in a while. So they can't really be bothered.

Why did RSA refuse to vote for Morroco, though? Bad belle or what? This here is one of the major reasons Africa lags behind every other continent.

Make una ready. You people will be waking up by 2AM to watch WC games in 2026. By that time I would have become a citizen of Canada cool

A big game, this.

The midfield battle will determine where this goes.

Trying to cut the supply to Messi should be the strategy.

I hope Sampaoli makes the mistake of playing a four man midfield like he did against Croatia. Get Ndidi and Etebo to hassle and harry old man Mascherano in that midfield, and they could be in trouble again.

And more importantly, we should try our best to tackle with sense inside the D-box. Those guys will try to draw fouls from us seeing we've conceded two PKs already in two games.

Rooting for the Eagles.

Sports / Re: Nigeria Vs Iceland : World Cup (2 - 0) On 22nd June 2018 by Arsenalholic(m): 10:27pm On Jun 13, 2018
Two things that are very glaring in this current Eagles set up:

1. Inability to defend set pieces properly (na this problem make me tire for Arsenal under Arsene. W). Against England, Serbia, & Czech we conceded from set plays or crosses into the box. So why the f*ck are they not working on this?

With tall players in that defense like Balogun and Troost, we should be imposing at set plays, but the opposite is the case. It frustrates the hell outta moi.

Iceland are a mean bunch when it comes to crosses and set pieces. As a matter of fact, it's their ace move. That spells a lot of trouble for the Eagles. Unless we limit their opportunities to fling crosses and even long throws into the box.

2. We are not creating many chances: Another big problem that was glaring even during the friendlies. Who is our most creative player? Is it Mikel, Moses or Iwobi?

We can't even say.

Each team possesses a clear-cut creator-in-chief. But not Nigeria.

Moses is looking to pick up that role but his crosses are too wayward and Ighalo isn't even imposing in the air so no point sending those crosses in.

Iwobi would have been the best choice because he has immense control in tight spaces, has pace, can beat a man comfortably and more importantly can pick a key pass.

But the problem is that he can't do all that playing from the wings. I watched him play for Arsenal against Crystal Palace on January 1st 2017. He played in that '10' role in the absence of Mr. Ozil. And boy was he good!

We saw against England that the dude is more comfortable dictating play from the midfield.

However, Rorh won't let him take that role for Nigeria because of a certain Mikel Obi. These days Mikel doesn't create anything. So why not send him to the base of midfield alongside Ndidi?

Actually, I wouldn't drop Etebo for him. I'd prefer a midfield trio of Iwobi, Etebo and Ndidi (this midfield trio has vritually everything you need). Then up front I'll have Moses, Ighalo and Iheanacho (on the right) as my forward line.

I don't see Grenot Rorh having the balls to make these calls, though. And so I see us struggling badly against Iceland.

However, I still hope they find a way to win because it's what we all want. #SoarSuperEagles.

Observations:

1. Defense is suspect asf. A real leader needed in there. Look shaky on set pieces

2. Uzoho is a better keeper than all our current options (apart from Enyeama) -- decisive, vocal, confident and decent goal keeping skills. Especially when it comes to plucking out the ball in the air.

3. Victor Moses comes here to think he is Messi -- doesn't track back as much as he does at Chelsea. Wants to take every set piece (which he is terrible at doing). Mikel Obi used to have decent crossing skills why not let him take them... Or even Iwobi?

4. We need to be more threatening at set pieces. We have tall players. Miss the days we had the likes of "headmaster" Yobo.

5. The midfield is a lot more solid with Ndidi in there.

6. Does Orion Ighalo understand what the offside rule is?

There's a lot of work to be done. I hope the boys up the tempo during the mundial.
