Car Talk / Re: 4 Common Problems Honda Users In Nigeria Complain About by AshipaEk0: 8:14pm On Dec 15, 2020
adanny01:

A lower viscosity will cause the oil to heat. Secondly, you will notice the PS oil in the reservoir whirling with a possible hole at the center due to the suction of the PS pump. This would cause a little suction of air and then the oil starts foaming. The air causes the vanes in the pump to vibrate leading to the whining sound.

In summary, ATF is not suitable as power steering fluid, Engine oil will be better. such as Total 5w30 or 10w40 which has a closer viscosity to PSF. 5w20 will be worst than ATF.

Stumbled on this analysis. Please are you saying engine oil can be used for power steering?

I ask because I have a situation where I use DexIII ATF for my power steering and it's very inconsistent. Randomly goes soft and stiff (ish)

Once thought it was failing pump and rack and I've changed both but the symptoms persist.

It was also confirmed that those components were still ok when I changed them.

Upon further thought it does seem like the oil does this, and my pump is quite audible when turning the wheel when stationary

And where to buy?

The ones I'm seeing are really obviously poor quality. Very thin, few strands

@gazzuzz Vehicle just crossed 300,000 miles and is still on 5W30 full synthetic oil

But I've noticed that is starting to short oil, like 1 litre every 2,000 miles

Runs great. No codes, doesn't smoke on start or while running.

At what point should I consider changing oil weight? And to which weight? I'd like to use that engine for another year or two

Wow. 18 hours!!! Damn.

Any stop gap measures?

Probably cheaper/easier to get a used engine

Agriculture / Re: CBN Blocks Exportation Of Cocoa: 100,000 Tons Trapped In Ports by AshipaEk0: 2:21pm On Nov 27, 2020
deenee:
Unfortunately, the government is not the problem, the exporters are to blame too. when you want to import machinery CBN give them dollars at official rate all in a bid to encourage more exports from the cocoa producers. However, when they export, they will refuse to return export proceeds through the official channel and route the proceeds to the black market. If they have nothing to hide, they should document and process the declaration form before exporting.

Did you read the article?

Read it again. You will see the part where they mentioned they don't have issues with it but the documentation takes 40+ days to process

This is agric produce by the way.......

Meanwhile, if your economic policies are so bad that people find it makes more sense to not keep their income in your country, is the problem the people?

You think economics works via patriotism to incurring business losses due to foolish policies and hostile business environment?

Issuance of dud cheque is a criminal offence that can only be sanctioned by the court. The banks are not empowered by any law to do so. Any such deductions on such grounds is illegal and an invitation to litigation.

How is the country wicked for this?

Shouldn't a dud cheque or a failed transaction come with charges or a penalty? What of the charges incurred by those two processed it? Who will pay?

If you don't have enough balance in your account, don't issue a standing order or direct debit, or cancel the one you have issued.

It is irresponsible to issue or sustain a direct debit on unfunded accounts. It's also criminal if it's for a service that you have already enjoyed.

On this one, I don't see why Nigeria is a wicked country as you have said unless you're willing to educate me on it.

How is not having enough balance in your account to support your own instruction not intentional?

Do you know the implications of this for the provider of the service you have enjoyed?

Why can't you cancel the instruction if you don't have enough money?

so i should pay 5k fine because i was left with 5,745 in my expense account due to various bank charges when my monthly showmax debit is 6k

something that happens now and i pay when i get income for expenses.
