vaxx2: for the first time ever in the history of oil exploration in Africa. an africa indigenous company will be exploring oil.....
Springfield Exploration and Production Limited (SEP), an Independent Ghanaian energy company drilling in Deepwater offshore Ghana, on Monday October 7th spudded its Afina-1x well in the West Cape Three Points Block 2.
This is the first time an independent energy company in Africa is accomplishing such a feat and places Springfield amongst known exploration companies, mostly foreign owned, who are currently either in production or exploration phase of operation in a Deepwater area.
At exactly 6.50 pm on Monday, the crew on board the Stena Forth Drillship officially commenced the campaign which is expected to run over a three-month period on the block believed to be highly prospective. It will test the Cenomanian potential to the East which already holds discovered resources.
In August, the company indicated that it will also drill another well, Oak-1x which is within an already discovered field in the Deep Water Tano Area.
The Stena Forth sailed to its current location on Friday, October 4th from Guyana and commenced operations almost immediately, confirming what Springfield officials had said previously about the company’s determination to seek an early production option through the government’s approval.
Speaking to a section of the media in an interview, Springfield’s Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Okyere said that the historic achievement chalked by his company was symbolic of what determination and perseverance could do for any individual or group of people.
He noted that from the very onset, there were many who doubted the ability of Springfield to go beyond obtaining the Block from the government, adding that even when the company brought in the world’s largest seismic vessel to Ghana to undertake research, there were ‘doubting Thomases’.
Mr Okyere expressed hope that Springfield’s successes offshore and the numerous experience it had gathered reaching this far, would become a lesson to other Ghanaian and African companies to learn from.
He used the opportunity to thank the Government of Ghana through the Ministries of Energy, Environment Science and Technology, Petroleum Commission, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), EXPLORCO, Springfield staff, individuals and organizations who have contributed to the great successes so far chalked by the company.
Asked about what he thought the outcome of the drilling operation would be, Mr. Okyere expressed confidence and hope that providence will smile on Ghanaians once again by having an indigenous company become a full player in the offshore business.
“That is our greatest hope and prayer, that this opens the doors for more Ghanaians to become significant players in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons,” he added.

samorobo: Sorry guys but what exactly is going on in Kenya..Why the consistent rise in unemployment despite the economy supposedly growing at 6%...I smell someone in the kitchen cooking some pilau and ugali...oh or is it nyomachoma
Seriously? Lagos a single city in Nigeria has a higher GDP & gdp per capita as well as economic growth rate than the entire colony of Kenya which honestly isn't much. This doesn't even factor in the numerous Mega Projects going on in Lagos.......
SUFFERInSMILIIN: Do not worry the pictures which I posted made the Nigerians go into cardiac arrest. I still have 210 pictures left this time taking with a high-powered camera this 210 pictures will buried the Nigerian people. They will not get up again I am waiting for the right moment to strike
You mean the same photos multiple people from different countries caught your @ss lying about multiple times? Yet you still here trying to claim a win from them?
samorobo: You are a fool..Lagos means Eko in Yoruba...this shows that you've never been to Lagos because Eko is written in almost every part of Lagos...most times you see the popular sentence written in Yoruba everywhere for instance"Eko oni baje oooo" meaning "Lagos will not spoil"
Know this today that Eko mean Lagos In Yoruba language
I'm shocked, Oil money is already being stolen in Ghana Oh my!! What a shame. Few years ago Mahama was bragging to the world, that Ghana will be accoutabe with oil money unlike Nigeria. A year later Corruption crept in.
I thought Ghana was supposed to be one of the least corrupt countries in the world so I'm told.
samorobo: Funny creatures... .....just sit down and watch them hype their country..
Examples
"OH ghaana has good roads everywhere"
"That place you are posting is not ghaana"
"Oh that is old pics those roads are all under construction"
"Oh our country is about the same size with UK and we both share one thing in common which is "having numerous world class city"(I can never forget the day Chris told me that thing. I almost believed but by the time I landed on YouTube my latter reaction was "yuck"
SUFFERInSMILIIN: When I visited Lagos I went to the average areas if I wanted to take bad pictures I would have gone to macuco the floating island slum. I hear in makoko they have their own currency which is not the naira
You never visited Lagos stfu already you've been exposed by to many people multiple times for your word to be worth anything. Stick to whispering sweet nonsense to gullable, weak minded Skinyans and emotionally unstable gaynaians.
SUFFERInSMILIIN: A lot of people these days do not take Google Images seriously because a lot of them are enhanced. The pictures which you find on Google Images is not really what is on the ground.
The Kenyans and Ghanaians have been displaying there unemployment and lifelessness. While almost all Nigerians and the Tanzanian are out livinlife or working and making money. Kenyans and Ghanaians have been on here for hours endlessly and desperately trying to convince themselves there superior. The Irony
There are empty houses everywhere in every country waiting to be bought nothing new. The difference between The Federal Republic of Nigeria and kenya colony is that those houses WILL be bought and when they are it will be by Native Nigerians. Try harder next time this was a weak attempt.
mtisTheQubit: are you trying to compare that floating thing to Kibera for real..Kibera got 24/7 electric an running water something even the greater lago slum cant have...
