https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/cafe.jpg If you’re a coffee lover, chances are you might have been told at some point in time that maybe having too many cups of coffee a day is bad for your health. Presumably, this is due to the caffeine in the coffee that some believe might not be good for your heart, but as it turns out, the limit to the number of coffees we can safely drink a day is a lot higher than you think. According to a recent study that was part-funded by the British Heart Foundation, it seems that drinking up to 25 cups of coffee a day is safe for your heart. They found that drinking that much coffee was no worse for your arteries than drinking less than a cup a day. We’re not sure if this is a license to drink an insane number of cups of coffee a day, but if you’re the type that drinks more than a cup a day, it looks like you’re in the clear. The study involved separating the participants into three groups, one of which drank less than a cup a day, the other group drank between 1-3 cups a day, and the third group which had up to 25 cups a day. They were then tested by undergoing MRI heart scans and infrared pulse wave tests. According to Dr Kenneth Fung, one of the researchers from the Queen Mary University of London, he said; Despite the huge popularity of coffee worldwide, different reports could put people off from enjoying it. Whilst we can’t prove a causal link in this study, our research indicates coffee isn’t as bad for the arteries as previous studies would suggest. So coffee lovers, don’t fret, you can go for as much as 25 cups daily. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Webp.net-compress-image-2.jpg According to the United Nation, it is estimated that the overall population of Nigeria (which is currently about 198million) will more than double by the end of 2050, that’s more than twice the current poverty index in the country. But thanks to tech, this population time bomb can either be defused or at least delayed. Here are 4 of the ingenious ways to defuse the impending population time bomb in Nigeria: Sex Doll Legalisation https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/sex-doll.jpg Enforcing the use of sex dolls by the Nigerian Government (a tough act in a religious country like ours) should satisfy the sexual cravings of Nigerian men (mostly the pervs) which could go a long way in stemming our rapid population growth rate. Cheap Video Games https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/games-min.jpg One major hobby that guys and in men in general love the most after sex is video games. But major game consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One don’t come cheap. Subsidising these consoles will keep the mind preoccupied and the “other room” empty. The Fourth Industrial Revolution https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/robotss.jpg The 4th Industrial Revolution – wherein the world is swamped with driverless cars, robot factory workers, 5G and AI – is for real. Massive investment in these Nexgen technologies by the government could curb population growth by limiting physical intimacy between two healthy heterogeneous couples. A Mini Snap https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/thanos-snap-min.jpg This might sound morbid and genocidal but the Thanos model could come in handy (all pun intended). The government could create/purchase the Gauntlet and randomly and dispassionately snap half of Nigeria’s population out of existence. This is surely the fastest way to cut the ever-increasing population growth. We could always snap them back into existence (the Hulk style) at a convenient date. NB: This is by no mean a serious list but a satirical look at the dangerously increasing population growth in Nigeria. Check out www.askifa.ng for the best in Technology news in Nigeria |
https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Micron1TB-inPhoneTray-1024x684.jpg Do you ever feel the need to have more storage on your mobile device than your notebook? There are plenty of microSD cards that can make that happen currently but the storage capacity of these cards is only set to grow. However, both Micron and Western Digital’s SanDisk have launched new microSD cards at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona that boasts 1 terabyte of storage. It wasn’t long ago when Samsung boasted about putting 1 terabyte of storage in your pocket through a combination of 512GB internal storage on the Galaxy Note 9 and its support for 512GB microSD cards. Samsung has now launched a variant of the Galaxy S10+ with 1TB of internal storage six months after unveiling the Galaxy Note 9. Western Digital claims that the SanDisk UHS-I microSDXC card boasts 160MB/s read speed and 90MB/s write speed. Micron’s figures come in at 100MB/s read and 95MB/s write. It goes without saying that both of these cards are going to cost a pretty penny. SanDisk is going to start selling its card from April for $449.99 (N191,000). It also has a new 512GB card in the same line for $199.99 (N73,000). Micron hasn’t confirmed the price as yet for its UHS-I microSDXC card but it does mention that the card will be out in the second half of this year. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Nigeria_Elections_2007-1062x598-660x400.jpg The Nigerian elections are finally here! In a couple of days, Nigerians would be hitting their respective polling booths to vote for the new president. However, outside the politicking, there are a bunch of things to consider on the day in question – movement will be restricted between 8 am to 5 pm, businesses will be shut down and if you are going to cast your vote, you might have to contend with boredom as well. All things considered, here are a few things you should consider in no particular order as you make plans for the elections: Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) Imagine queuing up for several hours to cast your vote, only to get to your turn and you find out you left your voters’ card back at home. Annoying right? So, to avoid stories that touch the heart, it is best to have your card readily available because, without it, you won’t be allowed to cast your vote. Smartphone If you sometimes leave the house without your smartphone, it is essential you don’t make such a decision when you are leaving home for your polling booth. For obvious reasons of communication, listening to music, catching up on current news, reading journals and e-books – your smartphone is going to be an important part of your voting process. However, having your smartphone with you is important, ensuring you have enough airtime and data bundle is “importanter”. Earphone For those of you who will be voting for the first time, it is worthy to note that they will be a lot of hearsays at your respective polling booths, which in turn can make you have a change of heart when you are about to cast your vote. Therefore, it is very crucial to have your earphones with you so you can block out them-says while you wait to cast your vote Water Bottle As non-essential as it may seem to most who do not make hydration a priority, water does rejuvenate, re-energize and prevent you from hunger pangs. Given the fact that businesses will be shutdown and the long queues that will most likely be experienced at some polling booths, don’t forget to carry water. Power Bank Regardless of whether you will be actively politicking or not, power banks are an essential part of our lives. However, on election day, your devices will be needing a fair bit of extra juice. Between trying to keep in touch with people and current news updates, taking and sharing photos, binging social media or some form of entertainment that is reliant on your device to while away time, the power bank is a very crucial device you definitely will be needing. Foldable Chair Being extra is absolutely not illegal. You can move with your chair in the queue while others envy your comfort. Though it might sound a little exhausting having to move it every ten minutes but it is better than standing for hours. Your knees and legs will thank you afterwards. Umbrella For those of you who have undergone the compulsory one-year national youth service (NYSC), the line “under the sun or in the rain” in the NYSC anthem will definitely ring a bell in your head. Following the downpour recently experienced in different parts of the country and the ever scorching sun, you will be forgiven if you leave home with an umbrella. Fanny Pack Given that businesses will be shut down and hunger pangs can hit you at any time on the queue, a fanny pack will help you carry a variety of snacks of your choice, which is better than having to buy what is available. It can also be used to secure your personal belongings so you wouldn’t have to blame yourself for participating in the election process if you lose anything at the end of it all. Patience It is common knowledge that “patience is a virtue”, so if want to successfully exercise your civic right, you must be patient enough to withstand the tantrums that will be thrown at you by co-voters, louts (agberos), security personnel and the INEC officials. Did I miss out anything? Let us know in the comments. HAPPY VOTING!!! SOURCE >>> https://www.askifa.ng/election-day-starter-pack-nine-things-you-should-carry-to-the-polling-booth/ |
https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/QuadrigaCX.jpg QuadrigaCX, a Canadian cryptocurrency exchange, finds itself in a dilemma after the death of its 30-year-old founder Gerald Cotten. The founder was the only person who had the passwords to the exchange’s cold storage. This means that about $190 million in client holdings that the exchange has may be gone forever. Cotten had died unexpectedly in India in December and his widow Jennifer Robertson has said in a sworn affidavit that the exchange owes almost $190 million to its customers in both cryptocurrency and fiat money. The exchange has now filed for creditor protection as it can’t access the funds which were kept in cold storage for safekeeping. It only has access to a much smaller amount that was kept in a hot wallet for use in transfers. No business records have been left behind by the deceased. His widow does have Cotten’s laptop in her possession but she doesn’t have the password. A technical expert was hired by the exchange to bypass the encryption but that didn’t help either. The affidavit mentions that Cotten held the “sole responsibility for handling the funds and coins,” so no passwords for the cold storage were shared with the team and as such, they’re helpless now. However, some have voiced concerns that perhaps the death in India has been faked as part of an elaborate exit scam to take off with clients’ holdings, but the court filings made by Robertson include a death certificate and the government has confirmed that a Canadian had died in India, but it did not provide the specifics due to privacy laws. That being said, in the event that the company fails to recover user funds, Robertson said in the affidavit that the firm would consider selling the business to reimburse users with the acquisition capital. The exchange has received several offers already. SOURCE >>> https://www.askifa.ng/canadas-biggest-bitcoin-exchange-could-lose-190m-in-crypto-after-founders-death/ |
It is almost impossible to use someone’s WiFi network without their password However, there are a number of applications that allow you to crack the WiFi network’s password so you can use the network even if you don’t know it. Here’s a list of some of the most popular pieces of WiFi network hacking software available. Some crack the password automatically. Note: some of these applications cost money, while some are free. Also most of this apps can only hack through androids, I can’t say specifically for iOS as it may be a little more taskful hacking through an iOS. CloudCracker(money) Instabridge(free) Reaver-WPSR(free) Androdumper(free) How do I use this app? Lets take Androdumper as an example. step 1; Go to your PlayStore and search for Androdumper>> then, download and install on your android phone https://pclaptopdownloads.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/playstore-downloading-androdumper.jpg step 2; Open the app and check the top right for the option ‘show all network’ ensure it is is on , so it can pick all nearby network. https://cdn.apkmonk.com/images/com.bigos.androdumpper.png Step 3; Try to connect to any of the networks available. In most cases, the app automatically connects to the network it finds most porous for easy accessibility. SOURCE >>> https://www.askifa.ng/how-to-bypass-wi-fi-encryption-on-android-smartphones/ |

The essential ingredient for the development of businesses in Nigeria and in most part of the world has proven to be the availability of funds and the aftermaths of managing the funds as they come. Well, that's not the case with Andela, Africa’s leading developer training ground for international export. The startup, which we think has outgrown the Startup phase has her offices in Lagos Nigeria, Nairobi Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and the United States. The company operates on an outsourcing module, which comes after six months of intensive training of Developers. Andela then outsources already seasoned developers and then bills its clients per worker and passes some of the revenues to the engineer as a salary. The rest is kept for running costs as well as recruiting and training new engineers. The tech firm was established in 2004 by Ian Carnevale, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Jeremy Johnson and Christina Sass and has continued to outsource developers to international firms across the globe. In 2017, Andela raised $40 million in Series C funding. The funding round was led by CRE Venture Capital, a South African Venture Capital firm, and backed by DBL Partners, Amplo, Salesforce Ventures, and TLcom Capital. in 2019, the Start-up has gone on a series D funding and has cashed in a whopping $ 100 million dollars fund, with Generation MI being its main investor. The reason for this investment due to the potential environmental benefits from lower commuting. “remote collaboration, and allowing people not to get on planes, obviously has carbon benefits, As of 2017, the investor had stocked in investment with over $18.5 billion in assets under management. Generation IM was founded in 2004, by former US Vice President Al Gore and one time Goldman Sachs Asset Management head David Blood. Funding History The reason I said earlier that Andela does not fit to be called a start-up is that the brand has successfully gone on a series of fundings and have been successful at growing and grooming its identity over the years. In 2015, Andela raised $14 million as series A funding. In 2015, the firm raised $24 million as series B funding. Spark Capital and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) were the lead investors in the first two funding rounds. What do you think about this News? https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/AndroidPIT-Google-assistant-9262-1170x658.jpg If you have been following the tech space for a while now, then you must have noticed that Google Assistant has slowly been creeping its way into various Google apps and services. However, one service that has eluded the digital assistant is the company’s navigation service. The company did announce last year that its mapping application would be getting support from Google Assistant, but it seems to have taken a bit longer than expected. Well, it is better late than never, right? For Google Maps users who are looking forward to integration with the digital assistant, you’ll be pleased to learn that the integration is rolling out to users as we speak. This will be available on both iOS and Android devices, although it appears that the Android version of the application will be richer in features due to the fact that Google also develops Android and the limitations that surround the iOS platform. However, for the most part, the integration with Google Maps means that users can now control navigation using their voice, respond to text messages with auto-punctuation being one of the features and control music. The rollout is currently in progress and if you don’t see it enabled for you yet, not to worry as it should eventually find its way to you. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/9Mobile.jpg According to a new report on Sahara Reporter, Teleology, Nigeria has pulled out of further participation with the brand which it paid for in October 2018. 9mobile originally Etisalat is the fourth of Nigeria’s mobile service providers, rebranded as a result of a syndicated loan of $1.2billion owed a consortium of 13 Nigerian banks. In the aftermath, its erstwhile technical partners Etisalat exited the business and requested that the use of the ‘Etisalat’ brand name by the company be discontinued forthwith. Based on reports on Sahara Reporters, the new owners of the telecommunication brand have become really uncomfortable with the progression and agreed on a business plan, since the takeover, most important of which is how it has been blocked from concluding a management services contract with the local joint venture, Teleology Nigeria Limited. Adrian Wood who is supposed to lead the team of Directors under the new management of the brand has been reported to have resigned from his duties due to these restrictions levelled on his brand. Further reports have shown that Teleology Holdings Ltd will be seeking to exit its shareholding in the local joint venture Teleology Nigeria Limited, which will be required to change its name. The development may further compound the woes of the struggling 9mobile operation. In a pre-disconnection notice advertised by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)) on December 18, HIS, the infrastructure services provider which host majority of 9mobile’s base stations, was granted permission to disconnect 9mobile and other debtor telecom operators within a 10-day ultimatum, ostensibly on account of 9mobile’s indebtedness. Should this disconnection take place, subscribers on 9mobile’s network would have been effectively shut out completely from the telecommunications network and would be unable to make or receive calls. However, if the new investment fails then it might sadly happen that 9mobile might not see the light of its new mobile market in the teaming Nigerian population. Innovation is an inevitable role in technology, aside from the fact that it happens so rapidly, it usually leaves the world in a fascinated state at its every stage. Just so that you get to know about something that has come into existence almost unnoticeable. Here is a list of eight mind-blowing techs that never existed a decade ago; 1. Instagram https://studybreaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/instagram.jpg Nothing typifies the technological strides of the past decade quite like the photo-sharing app Instagram, though some might argue that selfie-loving Instagrammers are a stride back on the evolutionary scale. Introduced in 2010 for Apple, and two years later for Android, Instagram (IG for those in the know) has hundreds of millions of monthly users who share some 95 million photos (and videos) a day. Since 2010, IGers have uploaded more than 40 Billion pictures so far since its beginning. 2. Bitcoin https://bitcoinist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/shutterstock_1018654609.jpg The Cryptocurrency. Was anything even called a cryptocurrency in 2008? — However, the internet money currency made its debut a little less than a decade ago, and the sort-of electronic cash has slowly made its way into the hearts and virtual wallets of enough people, evidently, that by the end of 2017 more than $24 Billion dollars’ worth of Bitcoin was out there. We’re not sure what good it is if, just for a for-instance, McDonald’s doesn’t take it. But word on the crypto street is that Joe at Uber aswell as other commercial outlets might be willing to accept it sooner than later. 3. Uber https://nationaldailyng.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Uber-Taxi.jpg Sure, 10 years ago, it was easy enough to find a ride to, say, the airport. It was called getting a taxi. But in 2008, you couldn’t hail a cab with a few taps on your smartphone. And, back then, it wasn’t just some Joe waiting at the curb and ushering you into his Accord. It was a cabby who probably had an attitude. You had to pay cash, too, and leave a tip. Uber, with its slick app and an interconnected fleet of Joe-owned cars, put the brakes on all that non-impoverish attitude. (Well, the tips are back) right now other startup companies such as Taxify are trying hard to replicate the app. 4. Tesla (Electric Auto car) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3f/Tesla_roadster_2020_prototype.jpg Elon Musk probably was probably not the first to ever think of making Auto-mobile move on electricity. However, he dreamt of building impossibly cool and fast cars 40 years ago as a boy in South Africa. But it wasn’t until 2008 that he launched the Tesla Roadster, an all-electric vehicle that has forever changed the car industry. The Roadster was followed by other futuristic-looking Teslas, and now every car maker on a grateful Earth is racing toward an all-electric future. The company is a leader in autonomous driving tech, too. Hold onto your seats in the next decade. 5. The iPad (Tablet) https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/BestBuy_US/images/products/9080/9080057cv11d.jpg The iPhone, the first true techno-gadget crush for millions of Americans, as well as around the world, is way old. It was introduced all the way back in 2007. But it was just in the last decade (2010) that Apple shook up the doo-dad world when it gave us the iPhone on steroids: the iPad. It’s a tablet computer that put the power of a desktop machine right onto the living room couch (and in the car). It wasn’t the first tablet among many other, but it made the biggest impact. Sales have fallen some, victim of ever-smarter smartphones. But the iPad lives. Apple sold 10.3 million of them in the third quarter of 2017 alone and of course still very much available for sales in the tech market. however, before a decade ago, this simplified gadget is likely to make no sense at all. 6. Spotify https://dancingastronaut.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Screen-Shot-2017-08-02-at-3.34.49-PM.png Another newcomer that owes its life to the internet, like many of tech companies is Spotify. The Music App is the music streaming choice of some 140 million users a month, who build and swap playlists from a library containing some 30 million songs (the Obama White House was famous for its playlists). The company launched in late 2008, Spotify is free, if you don’t mind a few ads here and there. Or, if you want to ditch the ads, it’s $9.99 a month. You can download tracks, too, to listen to offline. It’s basically a gigantic jukebox, for you old folks, that you listen to on your smartphone. Spotify among many other music App never existed a decade ago and its left a significant impact in the tech world already. 7. Virtual Reality https://s.aolcdn.com/hss/storage/midas/3a46d7cfdf368f98b6ffd7923db67c58/200264155/morpheus.jpg Oculus VR is the earliest originator of VR, it began in a garage in Irvine, California in June 2012. Then-19-year-old Palmer Luckey launched the company on Kickstarter, raising nearly $2.5 million for his virtual reality headset. After raising an additional $16 million in funding, Luckey however, sold Oculus to Facebook in 2014 for $2 Billion. In recent times there are over tens of companies that produce VR headset which never existed a decade ago. 8. Android OS https://image.slidesharecdn.com/androidos-121109041811-phpapp02/95/what-is-android-os-in-ppt-1-638.jpg?cb=1352434865 When Google founder Sergey Brin and engineering director Steve Horowitz debuted Google’s Android operating system in November 2007, they put to bed the rumors that Google was launching a “G Phone” (although nine years later, Google did just that with the launch of the pixel). “I’d like to introduce you to the Android platform,” Horowitz said. “This is a platform we hope will enable people to create thousands of G Phones.” These days, there are 2 billion active devices running Android software, which was never a thing about a decade ago. What do you think about this new Tecno Camon 11 pro Ad from Tecno Mobile? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0Si0HwNieE |
https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Tecno-Camon-11-et-Camon-11-PRO-fiche-technique-caract%C3%A9ristiques-et-prix-officiels.jpg IF YOUR’E A TECNO USER, HERE’S WHY YOU SHOULD GET THE LATEST TECNO CAMON PHONE. The Camon 11 Pro launched on Nov 19, 2018, and the phone has already promised wonderful camera capabilities. Ranging from its latest AI technology down to its sleek diamond design the phone is a huge jump for the TECNO company. Here are a few reasons why I think you should get the Camon 11 and Camon 11 Pro. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/images-tecno-camon-.png 1. IT IS CHEAP The retail price of the Camon 11 and 11 Pro were recommended at #49,500 and #76,000 respectively which is way cheaper than the number of upgrades that have been included on the phone. If you’re looking for a low budget phone with a wide range of capabilities including camera proficiency, you just found what you’re looking for. 2. IT ALLOWS FOR UNINSTALLATION OF SYSTEM APPLICATIONS Since the invention of smartphones, system applications have been known to be unmovable. They usually cannot be uninstalled or tampered with because they are essentially a part of the existence of the entire phone. TECNO’s new and improved invention, that script has been flipped. System applications can now be uninstalled in cases where they aren’t needed. 3. IT HAS 4 IN 1 AI TECHNOLOGY The phone has 4 in 1 technology that allows the camera to give flawless output. With the AI selfie, AI Bokeh, AI HDR and AI Beauty in conjunction with its 24MP AI Clear Selfie and 16MP+5MP dual Rear Camera the phone promises to give the best picture for your social media platform. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/TECNO-Mobile-Announces-CAMON-11-PRO-24MP-Clear-Selfie-Phone-with-AI-Technology-lailasnews-2-600x331.png 4. IT HAS FACIAL RECOGNITION For a phone so inexpensive this is a breakthrough for smartphone users and it would be unwise not to buy it. The phone requires facial recognition to unlock, unlike the other TECNO phones that require a password/passcode or fingerprint to unlock. For a phone so inexpensive this is a breakthrough for smartphone users and it would be unwise not to buy it. 5. IT IS SLEEK The Camon 11 and Camon 11 Pro is elegant, slim and sleek. The diamond design of the phone gives it a shiny and glassy look making it the perfect phone for your Instagram mirror selfie. This is totally different from TECNO’s usual design that might appear buff depending on user’s preference. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/CAMON-11-PRO.jpg Now if these reasons aren’t enough to convince you, then I’ll assume you’re not interested in cool stuff or you’re just greedy. Smirks. Finally, TECNO has promised to take one of the buyers of the Camon 11 Pro on a trip to Dubai and Seychelles. To get more information about participating in the challenge, check your IG for (tecnomobileng) and you’ll find it on their page. Are you still uninterested? Remember to buy your Camon 11 or Camon 11 Pro to qualify to win the challenge and of course to enjoy the amazing features of this amazing phone. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Tecnowin.jpg SOURCE >>> https://www.askifa.ng/5-reasons-why-tecno-camon-11-and-11-pro-should-be-your-next-smartphone/ |

https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/MTN-Smart.png The third most popular mobile phone OS is on its way to Nigeria and it’s coming through MTN initiative Since 2017, feature phone has taken back to its feet following the rise of the smartphone. If you ever enjoyed using one in the old times, then you wouldn’t mind having another one for at least, a second phone. To make this option a lot interesting, what about a feature phone with a smart OS like the ‘KaiOS’ that offers a touch of smart features just like you have it on your Android phones. While several consumer brands have been grappling to take advantage of this anomaly for the mass market. MTN, the South African based mobile network has decided not to sleep on the mater, hence, has promised to ship in new set of feature phones that will be carriers of the KaiOS, and guess what, the mobile phone would be sold for a very affordable rate, I mean ” Chinkini amount” as low as #8,976. Before now, the network brand has fought aggressively to ensure that more Africans are able to board the smartphone train, however, they might not have achieved a great result so far, and that’s one of the many reasons why they have opted for a second-hand option which is the feature phones with the KaiOS. This sudden shift in strategy from smartphone to feature phones is thanks, in no small part, to the rise of KaiOS, a relatively new mobile operating system (OS) that brings some of the best parts of the smartphone experience, 4G connectivity, virtual assistants, GPS, apps, to feature phones without compromising on the optimum cost and battery efficiency that has made them popular among low-income earners. No mean feat, this innovation has seen KaiOS silently become the world’s third most popular mobile OS, behind Android and iOS, in the space of barely a year since in it launched in 2017. While the KaiOS may sound really strange to some people, its believed to have overtaken Apple iOS is some locations like in India, to become the second most recognizable OS after AndroidOS. It’s no wonder that MTN is looking to replicate that success by being technically the first brand to bring KaiOS to Africa. It will not be attempting this alone. Hardware partnerships have already been sealed with Chinese companies like China Mobile and Unisoc to manufacture the phone’s hardware and chipset. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/iPhone-X-ttt-1170x753.jpg Do you also think Apple is not sure about its decision to quit the production of its previously launched iPhone X? Just about a few months after the Apple Big event, where the company announced to stop the production of its first ‘X series’, the iPhone X, the company seem to have been hit with confusion amidst the ongoing poor sales of its latest flagships, XS and XS Mas. Hence, the company has now announced a reaffirmation of the continuity of the iPhone X production. The move was alleged to be a result of an agreement made with Samsung to purchase a certain quantity of OLED screens. With this year’s OLED-equipped models failing to sell in the quantities needed to fulfill the terms of the deal, the report suggests that Apple is turning to last year’s model for a solution. Although, iPhone X is thought to be cheaper to produce than the XS or XS Max thanks to its age, which means components and manufacturing equipment is cheaper, according to a report. From the onset, legacy models have been reproduced according to demand in the market, but it was, however, a different case when it comes to the X model which presumably was stopped as a result of a newer flagship. The news comes amidst reports that Apple has cut production orders for all three of its new models of iPhone due to lower than expected demand. The cheaper iPhone XR is thought to be particularly struggling, as budget-conscious customers opt instead for last year’s iPhone 8, which continues to be available and is priced lower than this year’s budget model. It was a similar case with the company’s previous budget effort, the iPhone 5c, which saw its sales pick up the year after its original release as mainstream consumers caught on to its existence. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/FBOok.jpg Facebook has maintained its high standards over the year and it stands one of the biggest in the social media space The company headed by Mark Zuckerberg has seen quite a number of lawsuits during the outgoing year and that has never been a weakness for the though company who is still stocked in several other scandal-related lawsuits. The social media company released its community standard report earlier today and it revealed that the platform has lost over 1.5 billion users to the fake account. This huge loss is a tag to Facebook’s kick against fake news, spam, hate speech, and terrorist propaganda on its platform between the space of April and September of this same year. The social network got rid of 800 million fake accounts in Q2 2018 and 754 million fake accounts in Q3. Comparatively, the company eliminated 534 million accounts in Q1 2018. That should give you a sense of the scale of its spam problem. The company says that most of these accounts are part of commercially motivated spam attacks: These numbers are largely affected by external factors, such as cyber attacks that increase fake accounts on Facebook. Bad actors try to create fake accounts in large volumes automatically using scripts or bots, with the intent of spreading spam or conducting illicit activities such as scams. According to the social network, its algorithms to catch fake accounts before users reported them have improved significantly over time. Facebook claimed that 99.6 percent of the fake accounts its removed between April and September were detected by AI. The company also said that it removed 2.1 billion pieces of spam in the same period. In addition, to tackle the problem, Facebook still have bigger problems to solve. Some which include fake political ad among others. The company who still has persisting issues with Russian actors intent on meddling with US elections, although there are internal management conflicts surrounding the issue. In a separate post, Zuckerberg said that fake news and abuse of service is like crime in the society and it can be only controlled: Even then, there will always be issues. These are not problems you fix, but issues where you continually improve. Just as a free society will always have crime and our expectation of government is not to eliminate all crime but to effectively manage and reduce it, our community will also always face its share of abuse. In recent times, Facebook has ramped up its efforts to protect users from spreading misinformation. However, this year’s damning incidents, including major security lapses and Cambridge Analytica fiasco, have not helped the firm maintain or build trust. However Facebook has always remained a thriving company, and all of that doesn’t still appear as a weakness at all. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/S-foldable.jpg The South Korean company has teased the foldable phone for several weeks now, but now, the company has finally shown us what the device looks like Just days after Royole unveils their Foldable device, Samsung also unveiled the foldable device at an event yesterday. The brand calls its foldable technology the Infinity Flex Display, while it hosts a tablet size screen display when unfolded. The device can fit into pocket, purse and can be held in the hand while you move around, depending on what you want. Samsung demonstrated a foldable device during the event, although there was no conclusion on whether that would what we should expect or it’s just a template for the actual one, considering that the lightning was deemed in order to hide some of the features, although, with the help of camera, we were able to see what the device actually looks like. “There’s a device inside here,” said Justin Denison, SVP of mobile product marketing. “And it is stunning.” Denison showed a device that folded out into a tablet and backs up into a candy bar-like form factor. The device includes a cover display that acts as a phone and a main 7.3-inch tablet display when it unfolds. One of the interesting features of the device is the ability to multi-task, running up to three different apps simultaneously. While the product still looks very much like an unfinished business, Samsung says it will be able to start mass production of the Infinity Flex Display in a “matter of months,” according to Denison. Samsung isn’t saying exactly when we can expect to see more than just the concept device demonstrated on the stage. The new device will operate on Google’s Android System, an extension of partnership for the launch of the mobile device by next year. Google is providing guidance for developers to start using existing features that are built into Android to support these foldable displays. Other specs of the smartphone include a standard 420 PPI, which is not the highest out there, but perfectly fine. The resolution, when folded, is 840 x 1960, but 1536 x 2152 when unfolded. The aspect ratios, however, are the more interesting specs here. The folded, phone version of the Infinity Flex has a 4.58-inch display with an aspect ratio of 21:9, which would make it pretty much the tallest device on the market and probably not the greatest screen for game-playing, video viewing, or anything like that. The unfolded, tablet version is clearly the primary mode for those types of activities, as it has a more standard 4.2:3 aspect ratio and a screen size of 7.3 inches. All of the aforementioned specs were seen on a tweet by Shara Tibkan as seen below, While Samsung is not the only mobile brand working on releasing a foldable device, there is a prediction for a very competitive market in the nearest future, considering the likes of Huawei who teased to release its foldable device next year, LG also teased of a flexible OLED display screen,Lenovo, Oppo among various others. The smartphone is expected to hit the international market in a matter of months, although the company has not stated specifically when to expect the device. What do you think of the new device? do share with us in the comment section. SOURCE >>> https://www.askifa.ng/samsung-unwraps-its-foldable-smartphone/

https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/IMG-20181031-WA0003.jpg Nigeria Government frowns against social media abuse as it inclines, asking the law enforcement authorities to arrest anyone found guilty of such misconduct While there's been numerous campaign against cyber-bully and other social media hate activities, Nigeria Government has summoned enough courage to kick against such activities across the country. The Presidency has called for strict enforcement of the law by security agents to curb abuse of social media. Mrs. Lauretta Onochie, personal assistant to President on Social Media urged law enforcement agents to do their job, saying that they were failing in the discharge of job in apprehending people who use hate messages to divide the country. This was informed during an event at Abuja on Tuesday, where she informed that the reason why the inhuman act has eaten deeply into the society is that, law kicking against such act of misconduct has never been enforced by necessary enforcement authorities. She added that the country had the necessary laws to guide what was being published and spoken online, however, such law was not enforced as it was probably disregarded over the time. “Our laws are not being enforced; we must plead with the law enforcement agencies to look into this to help the president and the nation to stay together,’’ she said. While she speaks on during the event, she emphasizes that hate speech is capable of disintegrating the country, adding that if this happened, everybody would be a victim because the people would not have anywhere run to for succor, however, in a country where a singular act of misinformation is quite endangering, social media users must be very careful of what to put across the net, as it usually spread like a wildfire. Onochie also confirmed that social media has taken moral from many young youths who ordinarily will not to ask questions or raise their voices, given then voices as oppose cultural norms. “Many of our youths are raised by mothers and fathers who rebuke them when they ask a question…Now that they are on social media, they can air their opinions, but I must counsel them that whatsoever they say today they should make sure it is the truth.” she told “If you are lying in order to bring bloodshed on our nation, the blood would be on you and your generation,’’ she added while she spoke on. The SA noted that Nigerians should ensure that they must at all times ensure that whatever they said on social media must be the truth. Onochie advised them to always consult Google to be sure of their posts online if they found something that was not the truth. “If they are not the truth, it should not be shared, sharing it means you are breaking the law,’’ she said. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Block-ads-1170x659.jpg Pop-ups on your android device sometimes may seem like a necessary evil you can not do away with which is not a true fact While no pop-up blocking method is 100 percent foolproof, with the right security practices, you can keep most of the digital gnats away from you the next time you’re browsing the web on your Android phone. The method outlined below was tested on a few Android devices and it at least reduces the number of pop-ups in most cases while it totally set pop-ups off in some other devices. Anyways, you can follow the following steps below; 1. Open the Chrome, the default browser on Android. 2. Tap More (the three vertical dots) at the top-right of the screen. 3. Touch Settings. 4. Scroll down to Site settings. 5. Touch Pop-Ups to get to the slider that turns off pop-ups. 6. Touch the slider button again to disable the feature. If you want more aggressive pop-up or advertisement blocking, then you’ll need to go with a third-party browser. Unlike Chrome for the desktop, the mobile version of Chrome for Android currently does not work with any plugins. However, alternatives like Firefox and Samsung Internet do. One of the best offerings for this is Ghoster, which is a popular blocker and privacy-focused extension. On Android, it comes in the form of a full-blown browser that gives you visibility of the types of trackers that are on websites. How do you use the app? 1. Go to app store, download and install on your android https://joyofandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Ghostery-Browser-Download.png 2. Touch Block Popups in the settings Additionally, you can go to Ghostery > Tracker Blocking Options and then select Block Everything for the most aggressive blocking option. This will reduce the chance that you’ll see any pesky pop-ups that will ruin your mobile browsing experience. Competing browsers offer a similar function, but Ghostery has the most aggressive reputation at blocking nuisances like pop-ups. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/China-moon.jpg A particular city in China has decided to quit street light for an artificial moon that promises eight times brightness than the natural moonlight What will a city look light without street light, maybe a blackout? However, a City in China wants to rely on an artificial moon to lighten up its streets. Chengdu, in southwestern China, hopes to launch an “illumination satellite” to replace its street light before the end of 2020 which is quite different from the regular old moon. According to local media reports from Chengdu, the idea was presented earlier this month by Wu Chunfeng, chairman of the “take a deep breath” Chengdu Aerospace Science and Technology Microelectronics System Research Institute Co. There was only a little info given regarding the proposal, however, Wu said the “illumination satellite” would be eight times brighter than the actual moon, and it will be capable of lighting up an area as wide as 10 to 80 kilometers (6.2 to 50 miles), and that its exact lighting range could be controlled within a few dozen meters, according to a reliable source. Another report from Asia Times also informed that the illumination satellite would have a “highly reflective coating to reflect light from the sun with solar panel-like wings whose angles can be adjusted.” This follows a similar failed attempt back in 1999 when a Russian experiment to deploy a large mirror-like panel in space to function like the artificial moon but was not able to unfold properly in the space. Wu, however, informed reporters that the technology is now “mature” and will be launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in 2020. Although there was no specific date or time stated to carry out the activity that may likely be the first of its kind. https://www.askifa.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/google-plus.jpg A million daily active users on ‘Google+’ may require a new service Google+ is quitting operations for its consumers following a persisting data breach on its service Google+ may not have a huge number of entries as the search engine Google itself, but it records over 300 million active users in a month giving it a average usage of 1 million user per day. This is not that far away from twitter, which records over 328 million active users per month, although none can not be compared to the search domain Google that receives over 1 billion search per day or to Zuckerberg’s Facebook that records over 2.23 billion active users every month. You just might be like me, who really cares about Google about Google+ when there is Google to solve all my problems. Unfortunately, whether you’ve forgotten about it or not, if you have a Google+ account, your data may have been put at risk following a recent data breach. According to a publication by Google today, the company discovered a “bug” in one of its Google+ “People APIs” that exposed some private user data to third-party developers. The exposed data includes: occupations, genders, ages, and email addresses of many users, which are supposed to be private data. This breach was possible despite the user’s privacy settings. Google claims that it “discovered and immediately patched” the bug in March 2018, but the flaw has existed since 2015. Google says it has not found any evidence that developers were aware of the bug, so it’s unlikely that anyone abused it. However, the fact that this vulnerability existed for long even if it did not expose any particularly sensitive information , has raised a red flag. The shut down will be a gradual one rather than a force stop, it will come after a 10-month “wind-down” period, which ends next August. Enterprise users will continue to have access to the platform for the foreseeable future – Google says the social media website is better as an enterprise product, anyway. During the next 10 months, Google will provide consumers with “additional information” regarding ways they can download or migrate their data to other social media platforms if they so desire.
