Crime / Fani-kayode: Murder Of Alex Badeh – What An Insider Told Me by asorock01: 10:41pm On Dec 19, 2018
Fani-Kayode: Murder of Alex Badeh – What an insider told me

Fani-Kayode

The sad and brutal assasination of the former Chief of Defence Staff and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, a day after President Buhari’s birthday, is a despicable and cowardly act.

Not only was he an officer and a gentleman but he was also a profoundly good man who was criminalised, humiliated and treated in a malicious and unacceptable manner by a vicious, malevolent and evil government that had targetted him for villification and destruction right from the start.

Despite the fact that he was subjected to a well-orchestrated and relentless degree of persecution from the Buhari administration, he remained a believer in Nigeria and a heroic, courageous and unrelenting critic of tyranny, injustice and ethnic and religious subjugation till the end.

He knew many of the Buhari government’s excesses and secrets, he worked quietly against them from behind the scenes and, by his numerous actions and interventions, he saved the lives of many of his Middle Belt people.

Those that were behind his assasination know who they are. They shall not escape justice and they will pay a terrible price for their wickedness. His assasination is a debt that will be repaid by God and the people no matter how long it takes.

In the fullness of time the Lord of Hosts and the Ancient of Days, in whose bosom he now resides, will avenge him.

These are still early days and the investigation is yet to commence but I do not accept the suggestion that some have already made that his murder was a random and isolated event. That is just too convenient a conclusion to come to and it seeks to cover the tracks of the masterninds of this heinous and ungodly crime. In any case many questions need to be answered.

For example, how come a former Chief of Defence Staff and a former Chief of Air Staff did not have any military personnel or security details guarding and protecting him? This is especially so given the fact that it appears that he was on a long distance drive on a road which has has proved to be dangerous in the early hours of the evening.

Badeh was entitled to that level of protection by virtue of his position as a former Chief of Defence Staff. How come he was denied it? Who withdrew his men? Who wanted him to be alone with just his driver on that journey? Who wanted him dead?

There are many other questions which we shall ask at the appropiate time. And one day we shall get the answers.

Meanwhile, I add my voice to those who have called for an independent and public commission of enquiry into this courageous and noble soul’s brutal assasination.

With his murder it is clear that, under Buhari, ours is a nation of not just ethnic and religious cleansing but also a nation of political cleansing.

Adamawa state, the Middle Belt, Christendom and indeed the whole of Nigeria has lost a great man who though maligned, demonised and misrepresented by his numerous and powerful detractors, still had so much to offer our nation. May his beautiful and precious soul rest in peace.

Permit me to conclude this contribution with the following aside. Given this sad event, if anyone still believes that President Buhari will conduct a free and fair election and, after losing, hand over power quietly and go back to Daura without a fight next year, that person is gravely mistaken and painfully naive.

Those that believe this have still not fully understood the nature of the beast that we are dealing with. What they fail to appreciate is that it is not about Buhari alone but about who and what he represents. And those that he represents are not ready to relinquish power and lose all the ground that they have regained over the last three years and six months.

Consider the following words which were sent to me by an insider who wishes to remain anonymous.

“Air Chief Alex Badeh the former Chief of Defence Staff who called the Nigerian President, Mohammadu Buhari a “religious bigot” to his face was assasinated yesterday after he had threatened to expose the government over its involvement with Boko Haram prior to removing Jonathan. Just before he left office, he visited Maiduguri in a covet operation and ran into some top members of the current day government as they were coming out of a meeting with Boko Haram Commanders at the Nigerian Army underground Armory which was siezed by Boko Haram. He ordered his boys not to open fire but took pictures which he refused to hand over to the government when he was retired. He raised an alarm first week in November 2018 when 2 hooded men tried to break into his Asokoro house but DSS played it down. He was assassinated in cold blood by unknown gun men one month later”.

I cannot confirm the veracity of some of these assertions but two things are self-evident. Firstly that he was indeed murdered on December 18th and secondly that there is a dimension to this matter that few are familiar with.

Yet whatever we choose to believe or choose not to believe we must always remember the following: theirs is an ancient and hegemonic agenda and it is as real today as it was 58 years ago when we won our independence from the British.

First it was Rear Admiral Daniel Ikoli, the Fleet Commander of the Western Naval Command, who reports suggest was conducting an investigation into secret arms sales to Boko Haram, that was assasinated.

Then it was ex-Military Intelligence Chief and the former Director of Administration of Defence Headquarters, General Alkali, who was privy to a lot of damning information, that was assasinated.

Then it was the ex-Chief of Defence Staff under whose leadership Boko Haram was annihilated, Air Vice Marshall Alex Badeh, that has been assasinated.

All three of these worthy and noble warriors and sons of Nigeria were murdered in the last one year and all three had quite a story to tell about what was really going on in certain circles in our country! I urge our people to ponder on this and to think, think and think again!

The cabal is very much in control, the game is on and the next few months will be a rough ride. Yet no matter what comes our way one thing is clear: God is still on the throne and all power belongs to Him.

He rules in the affairs of men, He forges the destiny of nations and His counsel alone shall stand. Fasten your seat belts and let us see what will unfold.

The tweet read, “A lot of people hoped that I died during my ill health. It is real me… I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong. — President @MBuhari this evening in Kraków, Poland. His response to a question of him being cloned.”

It has always sadden me when I see children die by very preventable causes. These children died after the brigde they have been using to cross the River to school collapsed and they got drowned and I ask myself if African leaders even have common sense to rule over chickens. I always get immotional with such things. I shared these pictures. Our politicians always say there is no money so the poor have to suffer and die while they spend our money on unnecessary things. God help all. I m so sad

"Strike: ASUU Concludes Zonal Meetings, Keeps Mum Ahead Of NEC
2017/08/21 17:00:00independent.ng

Academic Staff Union of Universities

As members of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday concluded their zonal meeting to deliberate on the offers made by the Federal Government last Thursday in Abuja members have kept sealed lips on the outcome of the discussions.

It would be recalled that the national executive of the union had directed its members on Sunday to meet at zonal levels nationwide to discuss on the fresh offers by the Federal Government for acceptance or to continue with the strike.

INDEPENDENT gathered that the conduct of the meeting though generated a lot of heated arguments on the fresh proposals, it was, however, disclosed that agreements were reached.

Though outcome of the meeting in all the zones were not disclosed, Dr. Adelaja Odukoya, University of Lagos (UNILAG) ASUU chairman confirmed the meetings were held in all the zones nationwide.

According to him decisions reached, which were not for public consumption now, have been sent to the National Executive Council (NEC) for collation and decision, saying that the outcome of the exercise would guide the next direction of the strike.

Emphasising that the strike continues nationwide until the government and well-meaning Nigerians address issues facing public university education as it concerns all the issues raised by the union.

The Federal Government had during the meeting with the ASUU leadership in Abuja offered to pay N23 billion and a monthly payment of N1.5 billion pending the outcome of the forensic audit being carried out by the Ministry of Finance.

INDEPENDENT also gathered that the government had also yielded to other demands by the ASUU leadership led by its President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, Vice-President, Emmanuel Osodeke, a former union president, Dr. Dipo Fashina, and another member.

However, sources said part of the issues that generated heated arguments during the zonal meetings was the issue of the position of Dr. Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour’s rejection of the union’s demand for exemption of universities from the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

It is expected that the outcome of the zonal meetings that will go through a rigorous scrutiny and extensive deliberations would be tabled before the NEC of the union for deliberations next week." - Strike: ASUU Concludes Zonal Meetings, Keeps Mum Ahead Of NEC http://tz.ucweb.com/8_1N7xI
Politics / What You Don't Know About FCT, The Capital City Of Nigeria! by asorock01: 10:35pm On Aug 16, 2017
Resettlement: FCT indigenes square up for fight.
What many people may not know is that there are at least nine indigenous tribes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), namely Amwamwa, Bassa, Egbira, Gade, Ganagana, Gbagyi, Gbari, Gwandara and Koro.
Last week, all of them converged at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, as one people with a common destiny in commemoration of this year’s International Day of Indigenous Peoples of the World.
The event, marked on August 9, witnessed various cultural displays from the respective groups and participants, mainly youths, joined the performing troupes, not minding whether it was their own group or not.
FCT natives used the occasion to show that even though tribe and tongue may differ, they stood united in brotherhood. This was well displayed when the contingent from Abaji, identified as Ebira Koto, took to the stage; before long, the whole arena went into a frenzy as the crowd joined in the dance.
When it was the turn of the Abawa (Ganagana), who are renowned for farming, the men, dressed in rags and wielding farm tools, especially hoes, machetes and cudgels, like the typical farmers they were, demonstrated their principal vocation.
A somewhat magical performance was put up by a man bearing two live tortoises who intermittently dipped the heads of the animals into his mouth. With a fire-eater accompanying him, the duo became the cynosure of all eyes as they thrilled the crowd.
The FCT natives also used the opportunity to present their plight as natives whose land has been converted to the nation’s capital.
Over 40 years after their land was designated Nigeria’s capital, the people still suffer culture shock occasioned by the development of the territory, which led to the removal of people from their ancestral homes and spiritual symbols such as Zuma Rock. Today, they still brood over seeing their ancestral land being referred to as no man’s land while battling with issues about adjusting to the new environment.
Prince Gbaiza, national coordinator, Greater Gbagyi Development Initiative of Nigeria (-DIN) had at a forum in Abuja recently, to agitate for the rights of FCT indigenes, emphasised that the issues must be redressed because, if the people are left with nothing, then the heritage of the Gbagyi man would go extinct.
The Esu of Kwali, Alhaji Nizazo Shaban III, in talking about the history of his people, also said their settlements have been destroyed by modernisation: “Sometimes, we call ourselves the missing tribes. If we do not work very hard, the Gbagyi of Abuja will disappear with time. Development will consume the Gbagyi people and we may not see them again.”
Similarly, assistant coordinator of FCT indigenes, Dalhatu Musa, told Daily Sun that it was the need to preserve their threatened identities that made them key into the global celebrations.
For him, it was a day of identity as they did not have any other place to call their own aside the FCT.
Their grouse with the government notwithstanding, he said, “We must appreciate God because we are alive; two, because we belong somewhere. There are people in refugee camps and they can’t celebrate because that is not where they belonged but have been relocated somewhere. But we find ourselves where our ancestors founded and left for us for about 600 years ago.”
Even though they are in their land, Musa added that their people were being treated as refugees: “It’s only in this part of the country that you sleep in your house and wake up the following day seeing somebody with a letter of allocation, that where you are living is his plot of land. And this person is coming from Sokoto, Lagos or other parts of Nigeria.”
He explained that the displacement of FCT indigenes from their land has affected their livelihood with attendant social problems.
Musa debunked government’s claim that the original inhabitants of the FCT were resettled, saying the Federal Government had been feeding people with lies regarding the issue.
According to the spokesman of FCT indigenes, “The wrong impression created out there is what we must correct here. The idea of FCT as capital city of Nigeria was to be that the city would be planned on virgin land. Remember the Aguda Panel was set up to note that there were people existing here; what would they do with them? Government was to resettle them elsewhere so that they would have the land left for development.
“All the names you hear in Abuja are settlements, Maitama, Asokoro, Kubwa, Jabi, Garki, Wuye and others. People have been here for ages and when government came, starting with the Shehu Shagari era, they noticed that the amount of money needed to do the resettlement was too much and they couldn’t afford it. So they started resettlement in staggered form, that’s why there is Karu and New Karu; Wuse and New Wuse.
“If you go back and check how it was carried out, you will find out that it was a caricature. They didn’t resettle the people of FCT. If they did, why do we still have the issue, would government resettle somebody and the person would still remain (on the land that) government wants to use? Why do we still have the Department of Resettlement in the FCDA?”
Asked the solution to the issue, he said the best option would be to integrate the original settlements into the Abuja master plan, since government lacked the resources to actually resettle the people: “We know that it is a whole lot of burden on government; so what is cheaper to do is integration. There is no wisdom in moving Nigerians from their base and bringing in other Nigerians.”
Various speakers at the occasion lamented the failure of government to treat the FCT as a state for them to have a ministerial slot. If not recognised as a state, they said a mayor should be appointed for the territory. In fact, Musa reasoned that his people had been long relegated to the background not minding their sacrifice for the nation. He indicated that the whole thing would soon come to a head. Even where there were court orders restraining government from tampering with their land, he alleged that the Department of Development Control had always moved in its bulldozers to dislodge the natives.
He said, “It’s getting to a point that we’ve been pushed to the wall and we will not continue taking it; for people to continue working in aberration to court orders and think because they have money or are super Nigerians, they can just go and dislodge people from their homes. The people will fight back through any other means; some people will lose their lives as a result of this.
“You don’t keep embarrassing harmless people who have continued to be peaceful for the peaceful co-existence of this country. People will not continue to keep quiet; if they have wood, machete, whatever they have at their disposal to fight back, they will fight back, because that is their last resort.
“A person pushed to the wall will fight back; he will bite you because that is the only means left.”
The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is observed on August 9 each year to promote and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population. This event also recognises the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make to improve world issues such as environmental protection.
Education / NYSC To Embark On Strike Action! by asorock01: 9:52pm On Aug 14, 2017
Just stumble over this post so I decided to post here. Don't how reliable is this information.

NYSC embarks on two weeks warning strike.
The National Youth Service Corps members (NYSC) have
issued out a warning strike starting from 1st September to
14th September, 2017.
This is to implore the Federal Govt. of Nigeria to keep to it
promise of increasing the Corp members allowance (Allawee)
from #19800 to #49800, starting from August 2017.
As such it was agreed during the National Corpers Forum(NCF)
meeting held in Abuja, that if at the end of August, Corper's
allowance is not increased to #49800, NYSC will embark on a
two week warning strike.
During this period Corps members nationwide will adhere
strictly to the following:
1) That Corps members nationwide will not go near their PPA
or carry out their primary assignment in any form.
2) That all CDS activities will be suspended indefinitely.
3) That Corps members will not put on their khaki or anything
relating to NYSC kits.
4) That Corpers will no longer hid to the Clarion call.
Corps members nationwide are advice to adhere strictly to
this information and share it across until it get to the right
table. It is time they know that #19800 is nothing but 'feeding
allowances' to us.

I came across this on a Facebook page. Please share until an appropriate authority take action.
THIS IS A STATEMENT OF WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM FROM FATHER OF THE MISSING OFFICER. LIEUTENANT DAVOU MWANKON GYANG.
NAME: LT. DAVOU MWANKON GYANG
ARMY NUMBER :N/15741
UNIT:149 BATTALION OJO, BARRACKS LAGOS STATE.
RANK : LIEUTENANT
I Da. Price Gyang Mwankon of Turu Village Vwang District of Jos South Local Government of Plateau state. My son graduated from Nigerian Defense Academy on the 13th September, 2014 as a second Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army. He was posted to Lagos State, 149 Battalion Ojo Barracks. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2015 at the same Ojo Barrack 149 Battalion.
We have been communicating with him via phone, since February 2017, over 3 weeks we have have been trying to reach him and his number was not going through. I decided to go with one of his younger brother named GWONG GYANG MWANKON, to his office at 149 Ojo Barrack to visit him, on reaching the office on the 13th March, 2017, we met the adjutant, and we introduced ourselves to him and he told the Commanding Officer that we are around, then the Commanding Officer Lt Col Archibong (07069353889) came and directed us to his office.
I introduced myself to him as the father of Lt Davou Mwankon Gyang, he told us that Lt DM Gyang went for operation on 18th February, 2017 with five other soldiers (other rank) at Festac Village a few kilometers away from 149 Battalion Ojo Barracks, Lagos state.
