By Uduak ASSAM Jnr. The Paramount Ruler of Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, His Royal Majesty, Owong Prof. Effiong Bassey Archianga (JP), has reacted to a recent news story alleging that he was dead, describing such news as completely shocking, ill-intentioned and libellous. Prof. Archianga speaking through a press release said the offensive allegation of death against him was published by Mr Manfred A. Ekpe on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at about 6:46 a.m. on Newsni9ja.com, a social media platform with the caption, "The death of HRM Edidem Effiong Archianga of Ibeno is a great loss to Ekid." The royal father said the article by the news purveyor was ridden with false and outrageous stories such as "he manipulated his identity and supposedly dumped his original ancestry thus: "Edidem Effiong Archianga, who is the son of Etebi in Esit Eket LGA and whose biological father's compound and gravesite is at Etebi, but who chose to turn over himself to Ibeno and fight his people...” The press release, entitled False/Libellous publication by Mr Manfred A. Ekpe against HRM Owong Prof. Effiong Bassey Archianga: Demand for Apology” was signed by his legal adviser, Barr Diamond Akpanika and his Senior Personal Assistant, Chief Okon Udofia Okon, UNA-1. Accordingly, the paramount ruler in the statement called on the news purveyor, “Mr Manfred A. Ekpe to retract the false publication and tender unreserved apologies” within seven (7) days or face prosecution. The release stated, “The Palace of His Royal Majesty, Owong Prof. Effiong Bassey Archianga (JP), the Paramount Ruler of Ibeno Local Government Area, has been made aware of the libellous, false, defamatory and extremely mischievous publication made and widely circulated by one Mr Manfred A. Ekpe on social media about the person of our most revered Paramount Ruler. “Precisely, on Wednesday, 10th May 2023, Mr Manfred A. Ekpe published at about 6:46 a.m. on Newsni9ja.com, a social media platform that has over one thousand members, that His Royal Majesty, Owong Prof. Effiong Bassey Archianga was dead. In an article ridden with false and outrageous stories and captioned, "The death of HRM Edidem Effiong Archianga of Ibeno is a great loss to Ekid", Mr Manfred A. Ekpe wrote that the Monarch was an 'Etebi son whose father's compound and gravesite is in Etebi'. “The story went on to narrate how the Royal Father manipulated his identity and supposedly dumped his original ancestry thus: "Edidem Effiong Archianga, who is the son of Etebi in Esit Eket LGA, and whose biological father's compound and gravesite is at Etebi, but who chose to turn over himself to Ibeno and fight his people, is a great loss to Ekid. His true name is Effiong Bassey Anyanga, but changed "Anyanga" to "Archianga" when he crossed over to Ibeno in the 1980s." “Mr Manfred A. Ekpe went further to say that: "Edidem Archianga chose Iwuoachang village in Ibeno as his village of origin but fraudulently obtained a certificate of recognition as village head of Okposo village in Esit Eket LGA of Akoiyak. This was the extent of fraud that was going on as related to Akoiyak. When Chief Eshiet Okutinyang, an Ibeno man, was Commissioner for Local and Chieftaincy Affairs under Gov. Attah, he simply plucked certificates of recognition for any Ibeno person as village heads of typical Ekid villages in Akoiyak." He condemned the attitude of Mr Manfred A. Ekpe, for spending most of his days "reeling out several funny, sensational, fictitious, unsubstantiated and unverified stories which sometimes are calculated to and are capable of creating disaffection in the already volatile environment.” “The esteemed Palace of His Royal Majesty would have continued to ignore this errant busybody, but, to allow him to toy with a matter as serious as an announcement of the death of the most respected Royal Father, would amount to levity. The Paramount ruler said that he is alive and that he is from Okposo 1 in Ibeno Local Government Area and not from Etebi or any village in Eket or Esit Eket Local Government Areas and does not have “any affinity or consanguinity with anyone or any family in Eket or Esit Eket Local Government Areas.” He debunked that there are no Eket or Esit Eket village or villages anywhere in Ibeno stating, “The people of Eket and Esit Eket know this truth, but they have continuously told and repeated the extremely laughable story about ownership of lands in Ibeno without saying how they came by the ownership or even where they came from to own these lands. One is still at a loss how these stories satisfy the Ekids, if not, perhaps, to hide their lack of true knowledge of their history, or, even the denial of same.”

..Says Selection Of New Village Head Will Be Lawfully Done Posted by UDUAK ASSAM The Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village Council in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has again dispelled misinformation that the community has selected a new village head to succeed their late monarch. The Village has also maintained that there is no leadership crisis or tussle concerning the selection of a new Village Head to assume the reigns of leadership since the passage of the Late Eteidung Linus Etim Essien, who joined his ancestors and was laid to rest on Friday, December 23, 2022. In a statement on Monday, May 1, 2023, the Village Council said a recent news publication alleging "Village Head tussle" in the community was completely false, misleading and a figment of imagination of the writers, as such do not exist. The statement signed by the Chairman of the Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village Council, Comrade Morris Silas Bassey; Secretary, Elder Domingo B. Etim and the President of the Youth Council of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village, Hon. Otuekong Emem Asikpo, maintained that the leadership of the community remains intact and has not been dissolved as erroneously claimed by the faceless concerned persons in news reports. The statement read, "We are very law abiding in Ekpri Nsukara Offot. We are yet to select a new Village Head and when it is done, it will follow the due process of the law. "In our earlier meeting convened on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Palace of the Late Village Head, Eteidung Linus Etim Essien at No. 93 Ekpri Nsukara Offot Road, it was clearly resolved that the selection of a new village head should be set aside until further notice. "That decision at that time was wisely taken as it could have amounted to dancing on the grave of the Late Eteidung Linus Etim Essien to select a new village head just few days after his burial on Friday, December 23, 2022. "Interestingly, the Ekpri Nsukara Offot Community has been holding several meetings at the instance of the Village Council presided over by the Chairman, Comrade Morris Silas Bassey; Secretary, Elder Domingo B. Etim and the President of the Youth Council, Hon. Otuekong Emem Asikpo with the full attendance of stakeholders, including family heads, men, women and youths. "Such is the only forum that a matter as crucial as that of the selection/election of a new Village Head can be discussed or new officers for the Village Council carried out, as the case may be. "However, we have never done so yet. The insinuations therefore that a new Village Head was selected or that the leadership of the Village Council as currently constituted, which oversees all affairs of the Village was dissolved are completely untrue and should be discarded. The Community maintained that "Since the demise of the Village Head, the Council Village has kept all activities in the village open and carried out its conducts transparently and also informs the Offot Ukwa Clan Council and the Paramount Ruler of its meetings, decisions and actions." "It is therefore preposterous for any person or group of persons to insinuate that there is a tussle in the community about village headship," the statement added. The village council said it was totally false and misleading for anybody or group of persons, no matter how highly placed in the community to attempt to lay claims to the throne or parade anyone as having been so selected when no such decision has ever been taken. The community assured that it will follow laid down procedures usually adopted for the selection of a new Village Head and anyone so chosen will be accorded the usual traditional rites before his formal proclamation and presentation to the community; Offot Ukwa Clan Council of Chiefs; Uyo Traditional Rulers Council and Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs respectively. The Council warned those involved in such nefarious acts of misinforming the public to refrain forthwith or else will be appropriately sanctioned and handed over to the law enforcement agencies for perpetuating acts likely to cause breach of peace, unity and tranquillity in village and beyond

- As Stakeholders Urged to Respect Pastor Umo Eno - Warned against Kangaroo Zoning Arrangement, Selfish Imposition, Nepotism By Uduak ASSAM. The stakeholders' meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibeskpo Asutan LGA held Wednesday ended in fiasco and without resolution on a sinister zoning arrangement for the party in the forthcoming Local Government elections. The meeting which took place at the party's secretariat, Nung Udoe, was attended by all serving and former political office holders. Circular for the meeting as sighted by our reporter, was signed by the Chapter Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Mbosowo Essien, who is also the Personal Assistant to Rt Hon Aniekan Uko, the representative of the area in the State House of Assembly, had invited all stakeholders who are still members of PDP in Ibesikpo Asutan for the meeting. However, the only agenda was zoning of political positions for the forthcoming Local Government election. The meeting which was slated for 11am, our reporter observed commenced at 3:10pm, with the chapter chairman; Pastor Uwem Etim, announcing its indefinite suspension, an order which came from the party's hierarchy at the State level. Among those billed to attend included the State Commissioner for Finance; Mr. Linus Nkan, member representing Ibesikpo Asutan in the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aniekan Uko, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emmanuel Obot and Chairman of the Council, Mrs. Akon Michael, who our reporter gathered, had in the previous night (Tuesday), held a nocturnal meeting at Amity Hotel, Uyo, to rehearse their script for the stakeholders meeting. Others invited for stakeholders Wednesday meeting were: the former member of the State House of Assembly, Hon Eyakeno Etukudoh, aides of the Governor who are natives of the area, serving Councillors, party officers and all other serving and former political office holders from Ibesikpo Asutan Our reporter learnt that, full scale trouble, uproar and brouhaha were averted with the calling off of the meeting due to the sinister plan of the political leaders of the area to read an already prepared list which had names of those they surreptitiously handpicked and written at Amity Hotel, for various positions in the forthcoming Local Government elections. The order from the party's hierarchy at the State level, which instructed Ibesikpo Asutan leaders to shelve every discussion pertaining to the local government polls at the moment, that the leader of the party in the State will give direction at the appointed time, was seen as lifesaving. However, a leaked document obtained from the Chapter chairman revealed that the Local Government chairmanship position of the area was to be given to one mechanic, Hon. Effiong Okon Akpan popularly called 'Udo Imo' who served in 1999 as a councilor with the incumbent House of Assembly Member, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, while Mrs. Rosemary Emmanuel Obot, wife of the former House of Representatives member, was penciled down for the position of the Vice Chairman. The document also revealed that Lady Emem Otonsek, the incumbent State Women Leader, Uyo Senatorial District of the PDP, was to serve in the next Local Government Council as the Secretary, while the name of the former House of Assembly member, Hon. Eyakeno Etukudo, appeared on the list for the position of the State party officer. However, some elders in the area while making their way out of the venue expressed shock and displeasure over the desperation and selfishness of the political leaders who almost forced their cronies on the entire people of Ibesikpo Asutan for the forthcoming Council polls. Highlighting that never in the history of the area, such desperate recklessness ever happened, the elders said it was a high degree of affront and demeaning to the office of the governor and Pastor Umo Eno, whose administration will conduct the next Local Government elections. "The best thing our political leaders ought to have done in the first place would have been to gather all stakeholders who are still in PDP and thank them for having put their lives on the line before and during the elections and working tenaciously for the victory of the party and how most importantly, how to give maximum support to Pastor Umo Eno. "The world can now see clearly that either our political leaders; Commissioner Linus Nkan, Chapter chairman; Uwem Etim, Council Chairman; Akon Michael, Emman Obot and others have no iota of respect for the incoming Governor, Pastor Uno Eno or they are not interested whether Ibesikpo Asutan supports his government. If not, why would they abandon the dream we all fought for and be chasing shadows?" One of the elders asked rhetorically. They noted that even though Ibesikpo bloc is to produce the next Council Chairman, there are at least three wards that lay claims to the chairmanship slot. They are: Ibesikpo 1, 4 and 5. As a sign of respect and to accord the incoming Governor due regard, the elders opined that all status quo should be maintained even as they kicked against heating up the polity to enable Pastor Umo Eno's administration to have a smooth take-off. Meanwhile, one of the principal officers in the Ibesikpo Asutan Legislative Council who did not want his name mentioned for fear of attack, reasoned that, if the zoning meeting was to be a sincere and honest arrangement, like how such meetings used to be under the political leadership of Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, all interests, yearnings, aspirations and developments would have been considered. He thanked the party's leadership at the State level for the timeous order which has aborted the clandestine plans of a few political leaders who were bent on coercing stooge and their cronies on the people, saying the evil plan might have either resulted in an uproar or truncate the existing peace in the area. Our reporter observed that the development has indeed, installed a paradigm shift in the area, where all interest will be carried along in the 'season' of reward, especially members of the party who worked assiduously for the success of the Umo Eno project, and not allowing a few political leaders to use the forthcoming Local Government positions and settle those in their payrolls.

Posted by Hillary Iheme, Port Harcourt Since the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914, the country has depended mainly on foreign contracting firms for its construction works and projects. In fact, in our Country, the bigger and more complex the project, the more reason it should go to a foreign company. Although foreign firms are still dominating construction in Nigeria, it is however soothing to see that some indigenous construction companies have carved a niche for themselves in the sector. Presently, one indigenous construction firm that is progressively taking the lead and raising the bar in the construction business is Fens Properties (Nigeria) Limited. Fens Properties, the brainchild of Mr. Michael Asuquo Udofia - a successful businessman who has built an empire in the Country's oil and gas sector through his Fens Oil (established in the 90s), hails from Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Incorporated and registered on 21st May 2009 with Registration Number 820156, Fens Properties Nigeria Limited prides itself on its track record of delivering topnotch projects with the same quality and performance obtainable from first-class foreign construction companies operating in the country. In over a decade of its existence, Fens Properties is best known in the industry for the quality of their jobs and the culture of excellence they exhibit which is rarely found among indigenous construction companies in Nigeria. Among the factors that distinguish the company as a top indigenous construction firm in the Country are their quality of delivery, attention to details and the professionalism of their project teams. Another distinguishing factor is that Fens is managed by a project management team, regardless of size or scale of work. So, whether it is a self-build or consultancy, the company's experienced project managers, site supervisors and construction managers are on-hand throughout the process to ensure that the project is completed safely, on-time, within budget and ultimately, to a high standard before handing over to the client. Scope of Services and Operations: Being a multi-service construction company, Fens Properties has completed several residential, industrial, commercial, institutional and infrastructure projects in the Country, the latest being an ultramodern Faculty of Arts storey building, completed with lecture halls and offices, the ongoing Faculty of Law building as well as a state-of-the-art Lecture theatre, all located at the Permanent site of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. What the Clients say: Because Fens Properties is synonymous with delivering top-notch jobs on record time, their clients have eulogized the company for maintaining a high level of quality and professionalism on all their projects. Attesting to the company’s competence, the Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo; Prof. Nyaudo Ndaeyo, during the recent inauguration of the gigantic Faculty of Arts building, lauded Fens Properties for the quality of its work in the campus. Unlike other contractors who either abandoned their jobs or had no financial strength to deliver on record time, the VC assured that Fens will enjoy the University's continuous partnership and support to deliver other buildings and infrastructure in the campus. On his part, the Director of Works in the University, eulogized the company for providing high quality services. He noted that all materials used by the company, their services and works were in accordance with the international best practices. He submitted that Fens Properties carried out laboratory tests before and during operations in first class laboratories to ensure compliance with the relevant specifications and laws. Analysts’ view: To analysts, the competence and professionalism demonstrated by Fens Properties clearly demonstrate the readiness of the indigenous contractors to make a bold statement on quality job deliver. They are further of the view that other organizations and corporate bodies should trust the company, as this will certainly go a long way in reducing youth unemployment and save the nation from capital flight. Conclusion: In view of the documented testimonials the company has accumulated from professionals and other highly reputable clients/organizations, it can be deduced that Fens Properties Nigeria Limited remains the numero-uno in the industry and can compete favourably with any foreign companies. Therefore this is the right time for States and Federal Government of Nigeria to give indigenous contractors like Fens Properties enough room to grow through constant patronage. The first political party on the ballot; ACCORD, Akwa Ibom State chapter, has become the first to officially congratulate the Senator-elect for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Chief (Dr) Godswill Obot Akpabio CON, in the Saturday's National Assembly election. Akpabio, according to the official result by INEC, contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he scored a total of 115,401 votes to defeat the candidate of the peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, who came a distant second after polling 69,838 votes. The former Minority Leader of the Senate, was declared winner of Saturday's election by Professor Anthony Udoh at INEC office in Ikot Ekpene. Reacting, the State's Chairman of ACCORD, Rt Hon Martins Ansa, while congratulating Senator Akpabio, on behalf of his party, said, the former Akwa Ibom governor's victory was an eloquent proof to all Akwa Ibomites that any candidate with good track record can defeat the ruling party in the State and that, PDP was not a religion as erroneously assume. “This victory has again affirmed the general acceptance of Senator GodsWill Akpabio by the entire people of the State. We knew this victory is possible, that was why ACCORD endorsed and declared Akpabio as our sole candidate alongside the Presidential candidate of APC; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. "On this note, I congratulate the good people of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district and most especially, members of ACCORD in the 10 local government areas of Akwa ibom North West Senatorial District, namely; Abak, Essien Udim, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Ikono, Ikot Ekpene, Ini, Obot, Oruk Anam and Ukanafun for voting massively for the Uncommon Transformer. Posted by Godspower UMEH - Lagos The ACCORD in Akwa Ibom State has denied a claim that it had endorsed the Uyo Senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Victoria Ibokette. The State Chairman of ACCORD, Rt Hon (Engr) Martins Ansa, who made the rebuttal at a news conference on Monday in Uyo, urged Akwa Ibom people in particular and the online community to disregard the claim. His words: "Our attention has been drawn to a malicious and misleading post made by one Princess Victoria Ibokette on Facebook, a supposed senatorial candidate of ADC, alleging that ACCORD has unanimously endorsed her. “It is appalling to think that we would abandon our candidate who is the best and settle for Ibokette, a woman that is not known in her ward. "We make bold to state that the only candidate known to the ACCORD who also has all it takes to win Saturday's election and give Akwa Ibom North East (Uyo) Senatorial District an effective and people-centric representation at the 10th National Assembly (Senate) is our standard bearer; Ime Hosanna Ndem. “By the grace of God and with the support of the good people of Uyo Senatorial District, our candidate being the most accessible and closet to the grassroots persons will win; the reason Victoria Ibokette is jittery and over worried. "We have received reliable intelligence that Victoria Ibokette is threatened by the growing popularity of ACCORD in Akwa Ibom and is planning to defect to the first political party on the ballot. While we are still contemplating our options to either accept her into our fold or not, we state emphatically that ACCORD will no more condone any further puerile or juvenile strategy to join our party through the back door” the party Chairman stated. Rt. Hon. Ansa used the occasion to call on the people to vote for candidates of ACCORD on Saturday as well as ACCORD's Governorship candidate, Engr. Emem Coffie on March 11, the only man he said will end extreme hunger in the State and create at least one Millionaire in every Akwa Ibom home.

Posted by Celestine Myke - PH. Since he kick-started his consultations ahead of the March 11 polls, the gubernatorial candidate of the ACCORD in Akwa Ibom State, Engr. (Dr.) Emem Coffie, has continued to soar with various endorsements from major power brokers, political heavyweights, highly revered institutions, groups and organisations in the State. In endorsing the Civil Structural Engineer, stakeholders in Akwa Ibom believe that Emem Coffie is the right person to lead the state given his experience, his transparency, respect for rules, entrepreneurial spirit and his massive success as a Management expert and real estate developer. The gale of endorsements for the ACCORD governorship candidate began on Friday as he paid homage to the Paramount Ruler of Oron Local Government Area, HRM Ovong (Surv.) Odiong Akan at his palace. The monarch, a Surveyor, who said the governorship candidate of ACCORD, had immense respect for the traditional institution and the royal fathers which necessitated his visit, called the traditional rulers in the palace to pray for his success. However, the tempo of support entered another gear when the governorship candidate arrived at the Paramount Ruler of Udung Uko LGA, HRM Offong (Hon.) Bassey Etim Edet (JP.) The monarch who received the campaign train of ACCORD gubernatorial candidate at his palace alongside a cross section Clan and village heads stated unequivocally that, "the time has come for the best to govern Akwa Ibom State." He noted that, until a leader showcases himself and throws hat in the ring, no one would know he exists. The royal father specifically lauded the candidate for his lofty plans for Akwa Ibom, especially, for his plan to make Ibaka deep seaport a reality and end incessant attacks by sea pirates in Oro Nation. The story was the same at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Mbo LGA; HRM Ogwong Okon A. Abang, who while receiving the campaign train of the ACCORD candidate, prayed God to install a governor who has the fear of God. He said, "if God is by your (Coffie) side, I believe you will do all that you've said for Akwa Ibom. If God can give us a listening governor who knows the problem of Oro, there will be a serious change... because there's so much tribalism and nepotism in the land and these things do not augur well." On their parts, Paramount Rulers of Urueoffong/Oruko and that of Okobo LGA; HRM Offong Effiong Matthew Unanaowo and HRM Ovong Ita Edet Okokon respectively, pledged their support and wished him success in the governorship election, assuring that all members of the two councils were happy with him and believe he would govern the state well. By coming to consult them, the Royal fathers stated it was a mark of respect to them as custodians of the culture and tradition. The monarchs prayed for Coffie's success in the March 11 governorship election. Coffie also received endorsement speeches from various youth groups who gathered at their respective areas to welcome their august visitor. They recounted the achievements of the ACCORD candidate as a leading entrepreneur and business innovator. Meanwhile, during the Friday's visit to the palace of the five Paramount Rulers of Oro Nation; Oron, Udung Uko, Mbo, Urueoffong/Oruko and Okobo, the ACCORD standard bearer, Engr Dr Emem Coffie, while addressing the Royal Fathers, informed about the mega rally of his party slated for Tuesday, 21st February in Oron LGA, saying he will further unearth his plans for the new Akwa Ibom to the people. Coffie who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Mercy Emem Coffie, Deputy Governorship candidate of ACCORD, Evang. (Dr.) Love Charles Archibong, State chairman of the party, Rt Hon (Engr) Martins Ansa, candidate of the party for Oron Federal constituency, Col. Edet Sampson, Retd, that of Ibesikpo Asutan state constituency, Mr. Aniekan Johnson, among other heavyweights of ACCORD in the State, promised to turn the entire Akwa Ibom from a high consumption state to one where production will take precedence as well as zero per cent in the state’s poverty index. Speaking extensively about the Ibaka deep seaport project, Coffie boasted, "What will make Ibaka deep seaport work I have it in my palm," taunting the current administration that, "no one gives what he does not have. He explained that, for the seaport to become a reality, certain politics must be played and lobby done with a State in the South West, which he said, controls projects of that nature. "Ibaka deep seaport is a Public private partnership project and I know investors outside the country that can come into this State and the project becomes a reality. I know what to do to start and complete the project under my tenure," he stressed Continuing, the governorship candidate said his administration will use raw materials from each local government area and build cottage industries according to what each area has, saying he will construct such industries across the 31 LGAs of the State. He said: " I have a model that industries will not be owned by the government but through a Public Private partnership (PPP) model. The only way to create money is to create avenues for people to work and during my administration, we will send hunger out of this State" In the area of making the youths of the State employers of labour, Coffie asked rhetorically, "our youths, are they skilled, are they employable? What I want to do is, every primary and secondary school will have a vocational training centre that will coach our children and after schooling and training at the same time, parents will know the areas our children are good at. Thereafter we send those qualified for industrial attachment. "The third thing I'll do is to chart all the land in Akwa Ibom to have value. There will be what I call, Akwa Ibom State Geographical Information System where all lands will have Certificates of occupancy. This will automatically skyrocket the prices of our lands and will be to our advantage," he stated amidst thunderous applause. Emem Coffie called on the people of the State to jettison money politics and support a candidate with genuine love to end hunger in the state, submitting that he is ready for service. "Akwa ibom people should take note that no godfather wants his successor to be greater than him because he (the godfather) wants to permanently reign. For me, I have decided that the Royal Fathers will be my political fathers because they are the closest to the people and well informed about the problems of their respective areas. " While pleading with the people not to mortgage another 8 years into the hands of those who do not mean well for the State, Coffie stressed that he is ready to serve and will govern the state with the fear of God.

(Dr.) Emem Coffie, FNICE, COREN, FIMC, FICEN, FIMS, said they are all media hype. Hear him: “For 36 years since the State was created, Akwa Ibom does not any viable industry with all the money we get. “You hear of fantastic revenue and what we earn every month, the IGR is about N42 billion, derivatives are there, yet no much progress.” Coffie made the disclosure over the weekend, while receiving an award from the Yoruba Council Worldwide and its affiliate groups represented by the President, Mr Aare Hassan. He assured that when elected by the good people of Akwa Ibom on the March 11 polls, he will ensure social security for the residents of the state and also address unemployment, corruption and create a free and egalitarian society for all. Coffie said: “I am honoured and grateful for this award. I am happy to be associated with your group and I want to work with your ideology. “What I really want to do in Akwa Ibom is to start a system where you can have social security, it is a model that is workable . Coffie said that he would introduce a system where people would not be able to pilfer from the funds accruing to the state. He said: ”There is the need for an attitudinal change, a shift from the poverty mentality that makes people selfish to grab everything at the detriment of the society . “We really need to become God fearing, stop lip service; it’s time for the younger generation to begin to see things differently, everything about humanity is service.” Coffie called on Nigerians to shun religious and ethnic sentiments and work for the unity and progress of Nigeria . He said there was no need to run to other countries, rather youths should remain in Nigeria and make the system work just like in other climes . “No need to japa. You will only be a slave in another man’s land. “The best place to be is this country and you have to stay here and make it work; those people made sacrifices to make their own work,”he said . Mr Aare Hassan ,President, Yoruba Council Worldwide (YCW)said the council recognised the good works of Coffie and gave him the award for supporting and promoting development. Hassan said that Coffie’s display of high level capacity for development showed what he has in stock for the people of Akwa Ibom . He said: “It shows your heart of service and we are very much confident you will deliver as a governor . “We, the Yoruba council and our affiliated group worldwide acknowledge your worthy works and contributions towards the growth and development of people and nation building by extension. “You are a true democrat, keep up the good work, we appreciate your efforts.”

They are- (1) which of these four Akwa Ibom governorship candidates would you trust with your vote? (2) Which of them has the best programme for the state? (3) Which political party do you think would be best for Akwa Ibom State? (4) Which of the candidates do you consider sincerely love the State and would do everything possible to fulfill his promises? "Of the 92 percent of participants who said they have their PVCs and decided how to vote, 72 percent named Emem Coffie as their first choice. “Of those who are still unsure, 45 percent said the Abuja based Real Estate guru is their preferred candidate,” the independent researchers stated. On the methodology employed, the think tank said 23,973 people were surveyed in the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom from January 5 to February 5. “Respondents to the app-based poll were selected from quotas developed by age, gender and location across the State’s 31 LGAs. “Results were then weighted against the original quotas to ensure State-wide representation,” they added. Engr. Emem Coffie's leading points, according to the poll, emerged from the respondents’ view that he has never held any political office and has loads of integrity and one who can be trusted to deliver on his promise, indices on which some other candidates ranked low.
