Properties / Re: We are experts in building contruction, tilings, interlocking etc(New Pix by assetstrap(m): 11:18pm On Jan 16, 2012
I have to say i'm very impressed with the plastering of walls and paving. The pictures show good workmanship which is lacking in naija so well done sir.
Politics / Re: Soldiers Shoot To Disperse 'occupy' Protesters In Lagos by assetstrap(m): 6:29pm On Jan 16, 2012
Can i just quickly say that @umechuna or whatever he calls himself and those of his ilk are purely Simpletons, period. Its quite disconcerting to hear the glee in some of the comments with regards to soldiers patroling Lagos streets. If these nincompoops had a brain between them they would realise Lagos is a melting pot representative of Nigeria, and that those people protesting in Lagos consists of different tribes and classes of people and not just Yorubas.
Politics / Re: Fashola Ask Jonathan To Withdraw Troops From Lagos Streets – Full Speech by assetstrap(m): 3:35pm On Jan 16, 2012
The difference btw sending out Police and sending out the Army is massive. Sending out army sends out the wrong signals period.
Politics / Re: Pat Utomi Live On Channels Tv by assetstrap(m): 3:09pm On Jan 13, 2012
As someone mentioned earlier Pat Utomi has raised his head above the parapet several times thinking he had the ear of the youths and the enlightened only for them to turn their noses up at him. We know the guy makes sense he has business acumen and administrative skills at a high level and yet we don't give him a chance, its just incredulous how our brains function in Naija, i just don't get it. At this stage we need leaders who know what they are doing to come to the fore and take control with the support of the people.
Politics / Re: Where Is The Defence Minister? by assetstrap(m): 9:44pm On Dec 29, 2011
You know what, i can understand Goodluck compensating Haliru with a ministerial post but for crying out loud ministry of defence one of the most sensitive positions in government. FEEDIFEE naWA O!!!!
Politics / Re: Where Is The Defence Minister? by assetstrap(m): 3:47pm On Dec 29, 2011
But seriously guys the ministers of both the Interior and Defence have hardly uttered a word or been seen!!! Is the Police not supposed to be under the ministry of the Interior and likewise the Army under the Defence ministry? I tire o!!
Politics / Re: Gov. Fashola Made A Laughing Stock Of Lagos In Canada by assetstrap(m): 7:09pm On Dec 27, 2011
Peeps r getting hung up on the USED aspect period
Politics / Re: Gov. Fashola Made A Laughing Stock Of Lagos In Canada by assetstrap(m): 11:16pm On Dec 26, 2011
For crying out loud, the LASG is trying to improve transportation in Lagos by introducing trains, refurbished trains that would have undergone full engineering checks and upgraded and people r complaining. incredible!!! How much can ordinary lagosians afford to pay for brand new trains. Give me a fukkin break!!!
Politics / Re: Is It Not Time To Totally Purge The Army Off Core-northerners? by assetstrap(m): 10:44pm On Dec 26, 2011
I have read most of the posts and i have to agree with @houvest, he seems to have a good grasp of what the situation is. @beafs proposal we all know it is an extreme move, but the underlying fact is that the core North controls the army full stop. Anything to change the dynamics is very welcome to the wellbeing of Nigeria and there are several ways that can done, some of which have been put forward. From my own little understanding i think the North is telling Goodluck that they are in control and he knows this. To rule over a country like naija you have to have BALLS, large ones, you have to be smart and surround yourself with die hard loyalists. Goodluck knows who is behind BH the question is does he have the backing to go after these animals, is he ready for the fallout that will inevitably follow. Goodlucks heart is not really in it and so for this reason he will not move against the real power brokers in the north and so we are left with broken lives of disposable people. BTW i think @houvest knows more than what he advocates, please tell us what really is going on!!
Career / Re: Which Profession Do You Think Has Been Failing In Its Role In Nigeria? by assetstrap(m): 8:26pm On Dec 22, 2011
This is a brilliant topic. A lot of peeps have mentioned engineers and i tend to agree. Yes poor governance and corruption doesn't help but i still think there should be a significant number of credible Nigerian engineering firms operating to a high standard but clearly this is not the case. Also our technicians in construction of houses are not up to scratch as someone mentioned earlier. It is common place in naija to come across a house with a huge price tag only to find shoddy finishing in practically every aspect. A friend of mine who built a house in Lagos sometime back had to bring some Polish guys from london to do the finishing after seeing the botched job done previously.  I guess what i'm getting at is that standards of training/teaching of whatever sphere are dropping like a stone in our country.
Religion / Re: Why So Much Attention On Bishop Oyedepo And Pastor Adeboye On Nairaland by assetstrap(m): 10:48pm On Dec 21, 2011
@Cicero go siddon somewhere a beg
Politics / Re: Jonathan And Sambo To Buy 2 Bullet Proof Cars @ 280 Million Naira!. by assetstrap(m): 10:28pm On Dec 21, 2011
To be fair there is nothing wrong with the president getting a bullet proof car what is breaking my heart and watching @jensinmi's youtube video of jonathans convoy. The amount of cars is sickening, disturbing and scary, scary because this is the norm in Nigeria, where govt officials spend recklessly to the detriment of those they serve. SAD.
Politics / Re: What Does This Photo Tell You About Nigerian Roads? by assetstrap(m): 3:29pm On Dec 13, 2011
I've got to say even though @lasinoh is talking through its backside (coz i don't know whether its a guy/doll), the pictures don't lie. Most of the roads r hopeless and as someone mentioned earlier its criminal to think that we actually have LGA's in that country coz they ain't doing jack. Why is so difficult to build decent roads in naija, why!!!. I'll tell you why coz the people don't give a flying f**k whether they're ripped off or not, if they did they'll smash up the local councils and kick out the thugs who represent them as councilors, period.
Education / Re: Nigerian Wins Best Artificial Intelligence Research Award In Singapore by assetstrap(m): 5:35pm On Dec 12, 2011
This is a fantastic achievement and there r loads of other Nigerians doing themselves and us proud. Unfortunately our universities have become glorified community colleges in many cases. What the universities need to start doing is raising finance for their institutions by having fund raising dinners, invite the eminent former graduates to dig deep, have seminars etc. We can't wait on useless government to turn things around. Anyway kudos to d guy, its always heart-warming to naijas doing big things
Business / Re: What Resources Apart From Oil Contributes To 40% Of Our GDP? by assetstrap(m): 5:10pm On Dec 10, 2011
Pressure the government to provide good transportation i.e good road networks and rail and teaching some form of agriculture in schools
Politics / Re: Fashola Hands Over Fourth Maternal And Child Care Centre At Ajegunle. Pics: by assetstrap(m): 8:24pm On Dec 06, 2011
The opinions expressed about this topic has just shown us why we are lagging behind other countries and may continue to do so. I am no apologist 4 fashola but i give kudos where kudos is due. We, especially those of us in the diaspora (hate that word )should be encouraging him and urging him to continue to do more, but instead some people are here knocking his efforts, unbelievable!!! There was somebody actually trying to compare governor Orji of Abia state to what Fash is doing, i mean c'mon that person needs to be placed in a padded cell!!!
Governor Fashola is working hard to transform Lagos with the limited resources and the complexity of the huge population he has to deal with. For me i say Governor Fash well done, you still have a long way to go but i urge you to continue trying to give the good people of Lagos your best. God Bless
Travel / Re: Obudu Cattle Ranch, Calabar-picture Gallery by assetstrap(m): 12:14am On Dec 06, 2011
Guys obudu looks fantastic, i'd love to go there with my kids, but surely people can give us concrete upto date info in terms of accomodation,
things to do and so on. I know some peeps have been but can you give more detailed info as in your day to day activities, moving around the resort etc. Cheers On a more serious note what is imoke doing about getting a proper airport for that area. That place can generate amazing income for the state in terms of local and foreign tourism, building of hotels/ casinos. Listen if is marketed professionally and followed through Obudu will be mentioned in the same breath as other top destinations, but alas we still think small.
Health / Re: Why! Why! Why! Nigerian Hospital In A Big Disarray! by assetstrap(m): 2:50pm On Dec 02, 2011
'@OP you have raised very serious points not just about Nigerian hospitals but our health system period. In terms of the doctors and health workers is it that all the good professionals are in the diaspora or what? surely that can't be the case, i just think they have the 'Nigerian attitude' of nonchalance and can't be bothered, which is a damn shame. Also there seems to be a lot of mediocre doctors and health workers operating throughout the country. People r not given proper checks and discharged early leading to unnecessary loss of life. These r situations that should be looked at by the medical association if at all it exists. Tell me why all states cannot provide ambulances to reach accident spots on time thereby saving lives and yet some of them can pay millions to send people on pilgrimage to saudi arabia every year ( don't get me wrong nothing wrong with going on pilgrimage, but why should goverment pay for people to on pilgrimage!!! its bananas ). The issue of people not stopping to help is a sad one in our society and reflects badly on all of us myself included, but in saying that there are people out there that do stop and help and i give them all the respect coz naija is a place where do-gooders sometimes become victims. The health system in Nigeria has steadily declined over so many years and yet when i was coming up as a young 'un i remember hospitals like LUTH being very well funded and of good standard, but like i said that was back in the day.
Business / Re: FG Blames IBB's Administration For Our Economic Problems by assetstrap(m): 5:28pm On Nov 30, 2011
Abagworo:

Our problem is neither IBB nor GEJ nor OBJ. We have persistently refused to diversify our economy. How can we continue to depend on oil(a single commodity) to fend for our ever growing population?

That is why I always advocate for Amaechi(Rivers Governor). He is taking agriculture seriously but his hindrance remains the masses. We need to feed ourselves and export other commodities.

The Aba shoe industry is another economic miracle in the waiting. The Kano groundnuts, The Rivers,Imo and Abia palm zone. The Benin ,Sapele,Ughelli rubber zone. The Oyo,Ondo,Osun Cocoa belt.

Nigeria is blessed but we are blinded by oil.

My brother if a visionary leader says in the next 4 years of my term i am going to work towards making all those zones you mentioned return to what they were, what they should be and with a modern and efficient system, my goodness his name will be written in gold!!!! The knock on effects of those zones producing at full capacity will generate millions of jobs, loads of revenue, standard of living high, crime low etc. This is not rocket science!! @BIGDOO i feel you 100%, there are certain groups in this country who stole billions and still walk around freely living large and so the other scumbags coming up look at that scenario and say to themselves ' i can get away with it too'.
Politics / Re: Why Do Nigerian Leaders Have Inferiority Complex? by assetstrap(m): 7:32pm On Nov 28, 2011
@OP I think most right thinking Nigerians agree with you that we need to invest in our own as well as Africa and that doesn't mean we can't do business with western countries. Once you have visionary leaders who actually have a master plan for Nigeria to move forward and not deviate from it then bobs your uncle!. Its not rocket science, other countries have gone from mediocrity to super economies. There r people with immense talent in and out of Nigeria and if they r given the impression that their wealth of knowledge/experience will be genuinely required and those who want to set up factories and bring back a manufacturing base to this country are sure that they have a serious government behind them then the country will be turned around. WHERE R THE VISIONARY LEADERS IN NIGERIA, WHERE?
Food / Re: What Is The Tastiest Nigerian Delicacy by assetstrap(m): 4:03pm On Nov 25, 2011
Hi can anybody explain how afang soup is made, i had many years ago while i was in Jos chilling with my igbo guardians and i wolfed it down like i hadn't eaten for 3 days and kept asking 4 more !!!. Also those guys that eat dog meat r u 4 real ? WTF !!! with all the delicious mouth watering food on offer in naija you settle for dog meat, cmon now.
Politics / Re: Goodluck Jonathan Should Resign! by assetstrap(m): 11:14pm On Nov 07, 2011
Are u guys doing fantasy presidency or what?? Why r we talking about resignation in Naija!! cmon now lets be serious for a minute. Nigeria is burning literally and for whatever reason our presido dey siddon look what we need to find out is WHY. We need to put pressure on our so called Reps in the houses of assembly to ask the President why assh*les like bh can hold the country to ransome, abi make we beg OBJ to come sort d thing out?
Politics / Re: The Shame of a nation. Nigeria's Petroleum Minister Allison-Madueke !!! by assetstrap(m): 2:50pm On Nov 04, 2011
@Gbawe i'm still trying to figure out what this madueke woman brings to the table coz she has held 3 significant cabinet posts, and i'm still scratching my head. From what i gather it was status quo at the transport ministry and same at the ministry for mines and she definitely ain't making no shakes at the petroleum ministry, so the WTF!!!
Politics / Re: The Shame of a nation. Nigeria's Petroleum Minister Allison-Madueke !!! by assetstrap(m): 2:21pm On Nov 04, 2011
I think the question we need to ask ourselves is whether Nigeria as a country has reached that tipping point whereby any significant challenge by regular folks to the despicable misuse of funds will be a catalyst for root and branch transformation i.e complete change of the political landscape and dealing severely with the so called untouchables by giving them the 'Madoff treatment' at the very least. In anybody's book we have even passed the tipping point and yet Nigerians are still walking around in a daze not knowing what to do while the country collapses in on them. This is the sad reality.
Business / Re: Business Ideas In Nigeria by assetstrap(m): 10:35pm On Oct 17, 2011
