Oyinlomobambam: Can you give him 20years to rule Nigerians for better results? I disagree with this as 8 years is plenty enough for him to lead and at least set things in place to start turning things round. He then needs to do what he did in Lagos state to surround himself with the right people and annoint the right successor to build on his structure. Anything more than 8 years is too much and becoming a dictatorship. Granted we have a totally useless opposition presently and he could get away with it, we still need him to leave after 8 years. |

"Aṣewo sọ nu, jaguda wa lọ" Doesn't translate well literarily to English but I will try my best. It means an Ashawo went missing and an area boy went to look for her. Basically means no sad loss to society (or nothing to see here) that both are not around but I think you have to be a Yoruba speaker to understand the full context. |

FreeStuffsNG: 2026 World Cup: Nigeria’s hopes revived by DR Congo players’ ineligibility claims
Anthony Nlebem
December 15, 2025
Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have reportedly been reignited following claims that DR Congo may be expelled from the competition for fielding ineligible players.
In November, DR Congo defeated the Super Eagles on penalties to secure Africa’s ticket to the Intercontinental Playoffs for a place at the 2026 World Cup.
However, reports suggest they could face sanctions from FIFA ahead of the playoffs, expected to take place in March 2026.
According to the reports, six DR Congo players who switched nationality allegedly failed to complete the required eligibility process. It is claimed they did not formally renounce their previous citizenships, a key requirement given that DR Congo does not recognise dual nationality.
Further allegations state that several players who featured in the playoff match were over the age of 21, yet still held passports from other countries, rendering them ineligible under FIFA regulations.
“The chances of the petition against DR Congo succeeding are even stronger than when South Africa were docked three points and three goals for fielding an ineligible player against Lesotho,” SCORENigeria quoted.
“A petition has been submitted against DR Congo concerning the eligibility of several players who featured in the World Cup Playoffs in Morocco.
“There is still hope for the Super Eagles, provided the Intercontinental Playoffs in Mexico have not been played.”
https://businessday.ng/sports/article/2026-world-cup-nigerias-hopes-revived-by-dr-congo-players-ineligibility-claims/ We need to stop this nonsense, we lost fair and square to them, they deserve to be in the qualifiers ahead of us. No back door entry needed. I know FIFA are desperate for us to qualify because as Nigerians, especially those living in the US, we will spend a lot during the tournament. Good luck to Congo, hopefully theyake it and do themselves proud. |

fabolouz1: etim esin was so good that he was enfant terrible to opposing defenders. That phrase ''...he was alleged to be better than j.j okocha...'' is a false narrative because he was and there is nothing allegedly there , for someone to be compared to diego maradona then you know what that means. The people who shot him were allegedly sponsored by his adversaries in the super eagles and it is on record that he became the first nigerian player to buy a brand new car. Youthful exuberance and stubbornness actually cut short his promising career. It is not on record that he was the first Nigerian player to buy a brand new car. He was at Flash flamengo's and got a car as part of a signing on deal, same as a lot of footballers back then and others got before him. He didn't earn that much compared to other players before his career was truncated. There was no adversary sponsoring his being shot, he skipped camp and was shot by armed robbers escaping from them on his way back to camp from a nightclub. Stop spinning false narratives. Etim lived a reckless life and wasn't fortunate enough to get away with it though he did well not completely wrecking it. |

DanielJones: It is just co-incidental that the person you wrote about is my uncle. Half of what you wrote about him is not true.... For instance, Uncle Etim Esin is not living quietly in Akwa Ibom state. He now lives in Lekki (quietly in his house there). He also has houses in Surulere and other parts of lagos... While the write-up about the armed robbers' incident is just 70% correct, the incident about rape is false. You need to understand his perspective. He did not rape anyone, I spoke with him about this incident myself, and the narrative he gave is quite different - it was a case of frame up. Uncle Etim John Esin that I know in person is not regretting anything... I can tell you that for free.
I know that we have several Ex-Super Eagles players on this platform too, probably reading this post. We need to celebrate our heroes. My uncle is a Living Legend, let's celebrate him while he is still alive. I do think he regrets having to cut his career short in Europe mainly because of his involvement with the girl who was actually underage. Etim was on a trajectory that would have taken him to Serie A which was the best league in the world at that time. For me, a wasted talent and I hope the NFF are able to use him to talk to younger upcoming players about his predicament so they can avoid it. Also, he went into deep depression at some point and had a battle with hard drugs. Glad he is clean now. |

That is why he is familiar with Nigeria.

A very useless and confused presidency..
Government of Islamic terrorists and bandits kidnappers. I am genuinely interested, whose mandate did he run away with? You say he rigged, why didn't you give Peter Obi's lawyers your proof to use at the Tribunal? It is because of people like you that opposition is dead in this country, you claim things about past events that are not true instead of using that energy to strategise for the future. It is people like you that have caused Peter Obi to go from third place, and potentially having a realistic shot at being president, to now looking for a party to get their ticket. |
