You obviously do not understand Niger delta dynamics. This same land grab by the Ijaws is rife all over coastal areas of the Niger delta and even beyond. They are marine normads, a few would come to your village and beg for land to build temporary shelters from where they can easily access areas rich in fish or mangrove trees (Ijaws sell mangrove trees for firewood). Twenty to thirty years down the line the small temporary shelter would have grown to an ijaw village with a population even more than the original owners of the land. Before you know it, they would change the name of the village and install a king. Voila, you have a new Ijaw village or town. You can see this same trend from delta to edo, to ondo and even lagos. ( Langbassa and maijidun in lagos are mainly Ijaw settlements).

Even in my village, which is about 45 minutes speed boat ride from Koko, we had these same problem. Ijaws claimed the village and tried changing the name. We were able to get back our lands through the law courts. We were able to present papers going back over 100years, while the Ijaw claimants had none. Intact we were able to prove the ijaws were rent paying tenants on our land.

If the itsekiris have all the papers proving ownership of okerenkoko or okerenghigho, they should take the matter to court.

Okumagba summed up the itsekiris by saying if you argue ownership of the moon with the itsekiri man in a law court, the itsekiri man will produce gazetted documents to prove that God sold the moon to him.

Itsekiris are land frauds, who go behind others to gazette others lands as theirs.

The ijaws knows that by now the itsekiris will have documents that they own all ijaws lands, the ijaws have simply armed themselves waiting for the itsekiri man that will physically go to an ijaw land and claim ownership.

If okerenkoko is itsekiri village, let the itsekiri man go there and build his house.
