FamilyRe: Should I Go Back To School Or Focus On My Fruit Biz. by Atlanticfire: 6:14pm On Sep 02, 2022
MaryAye:
Thanks but I lost my parent few month back.
from the look of things, you are fending for yourself with no support or very little support currently.

You need to be careful with what you do with your life in the next few years.

You will need money to complete schooling. be clear where the money will come from before enrolling in school.
There is time for everything, when you were in school and your parent was alive, you should have concentrated on your studies instead of getting pregnant.

Right now you can still make progress, it will be harder, but it is possible.

1. Your choice of School of Nursing is a good choice, apply for the program and try to get the admission. if you get the admission then look for financial support before starting the program.
Do not enroll in a full time course unless you have someone who will support you financially during the duration of your study, either the parents of your child's father or members of your family will be the options to consider. If a potential future husband is in the picture, you can also solicite for his support. Do not be ashamed to ask for support, ask your inlaws and family members to support you.

2. If you are unable to get financial support then think of another course to study, something that you can enroll for that is either a part time program or an online program. A course that will give you the flexibility to study while working. But the nursing course is a really good option and will provide you with a stable income if you can complete it.

3. Continue with your fruit business even if you start schooling. Consider just buying the fruits in bulk from the villages and supplying to wholesellers in the city, you can also team up with others on this and share profit. You can be doing this periodically and during the holidays.
4. Do not get pregnant unless it is planned, surviving without support gets more difficult the larger the number of babies you have to cater for. Take active precaution to avoid being pregnant.
5. prioritise your schooling over that of your child for now. formal education started at 6 yrs old for the old generation of Nigerians, and they did not really lose much because of it. Focus on yourself, give the child to the father's parents or to a relative for sometime if possible.

BusinessRe: My Experience As A Google Ads Specialist In Nigeria by Atlanticfire: 12:12am On Sep 25, 2021
ojasweb:
As promised earlier on the thread, i will be sharing some of the commonest challenges Nigerians are facing when it comes to advertising on Google.

The first issue i have heard people complaining about almost all the time is inability to pay for ads or card declination.

Unlike Facebook, Google ads doesn't support Naira for making payment.

Get me right.

You can use your Naira master card to pay for Google ads, however they will never charge your card in Naira. Instead they will charge the the card in other supported currency that your Google ads account is using.

For example, if your Google ads account is UK own, they will charge your card in GBT instead of Naira. And because of this, the monthly CBN limit will affect your spending.

While this remains a main setback for people who are willing to spend more on advertising, the main issue is the card declination or inability to add a payment method.

I explained more about this in one of my training courses.
Can one not have a Nigerian google ads account and pay in naira?

My Job is to tweak your brain to start thinking in the right direction
While I appreciate majority of programmers getting into fiverr and other sites to get jobs, I believe you need to start repositioning yourselves for bigger roles. And I'll show you why and how.

Sure, you need to feed yourself and get life going, remember, Mr President said there is no job the Federal Government is providing. Gush! I still don't get it why Mr. President will come out so direct and say such, but it is the truth (The president does not know how to speak with wisdom). Furthermore, he said that FG cannot help you if you continue destroying what they are building. Well, I agree with Buhari in a sense, but he could do better. OK, let me help you here to explain what the old man wanted to say:

Government should be in the business of creating the right atmosphere for businesses to start and grow, and not creating jobs directly.

You heard me right. Lol. If you want to really understand my point, create a thread and ask Nigerians which job should you keep: Government jobs or Private companies jobs. Then, push it to the front page. You and I know the answers already. But listen to me, if the private sector is not attractive and secured enough for people to work, the economy of the nation will suffer. Government jobs are the last alternatives jobs we should consider except in public policy offices. When government pays more than the private sector as the case is in Nigeria, there is trouble. This is why the pressure is too much on the president and the governors to create jobs.

How do they create jobs out of nothing? Therefore, the structure must be there. Government should not be in the business of creating jobs, but in the business of creating good atmosphere for businesses to prosper. And this is where we are heading to presently in Nigeria. I really want to open your eyes why programmers should start thinking of tapping into these opportunities. I appreciate the small dollars you make from Fiverr or other remote jobs you get, but you can do better.

Take the Risk
Guys and ladies, take the risk. Fine, you have a contract job which is keeping you going, this is great. Instead of getting more contract jobs, look into the bigger picture and see if you can start something of your own. There are two approaches:

1. You work for peanuts here and there, and you continue doing this for the rest of your life.

2. You work for peanuts here, and you try doing something huge there. Of course, the chances of startups being successful is low, but it shouldn't stop you from trying. You have just pivoted yourself above option 1 above. And you have repositioned yourself. What you cannot remove from this is the experience you have gained. And by the way, option 1 will not make you more comfortable than option 2. You are still on the same level financially. My point is that while keeping your "hustling contracting" jobs, get into the bigger picture by taking the bigger risk.

So, we will talk about the structure Government is putting place you can tap from in my next post. These points I am making should start making you to think bigger and more positively.

CrimeRe: Could It Be My Account Was Used For Scam??? by Atlanticfire: 10:09pm On May 23, 2021
lecoeur:
So I met this guy on telegram and we got going, he introduced me to one group like that where he sells Fake logs and said I should work with him.
I do chat him up frequently and just yesterday he came requesting for my account details that he wants to bless me. I'm a student, really broke in fact I haven't eaten properly for like 2 days straight honestly (Crypto did me sh*t) so I didn't hesitate in sending my details, shortly I got credit alert of #14k.
I informed him of the alert and he told me to give him any amount I wish to give him out of the money, at this point I became confused and was like howhuh
I just blocked him immediately and deleted our chat, right now I feel bad cos obviously he's a scammer and truly I pity the person that may have been scammed as I've been overthinking considering the trauma this person may be going through.
Is there anything I can do?
I haven't taken anything out of the money yet.

Modified....
I went to the bank and they keep telling me to come back, I will be going with my uncle hopefully on Monday.
Thanks smiley everyone for your contributions, I'll update once everything is sorted out.
Do not go to the bank, send email to their customer care stating the issues and your concerns and tell them your request.

That way your interaction with the bank on the issue will be well documented.

Tomorrow if EFCC or the police start giving you trouble about the transaction you will have something to show that you did what is expected of you and returned the money, even if the bank refuse to return the money, it will at least be on record that you requested for the money to be returned.

If the money is proceed of fraud, returning the money does not exonerate you from being prosecuted as the person that committed the fraud. Once the owner of the money report that his money was stolen and transferred to your account, EFCC or Nigeria Police can arrest you and parade you that they have caught another cyber criminal. They will convict you on social media and take you to court just to increase the number of cases they have in court and get more government subvention.

Don't tell your husband, it will only bring problems to the family.

You need to examine yourself and your conduct. What gave your inlaw the impression that you can have an illicit affair with him? He does not think that you are a straight forward wife, the question is why?

Anyway, just tell your inlaw no, and mean it. Threaten to tell your husband of he brings up the subject again.

PoliticsRe: NDDC Invites President Buhari To Commission 29 KM Ogba-Nembe Road by Atlanticfire: 1:08pm On Aug 04, 2020
Nice one. That road has been in construction for close to 8 years. It is good that it is finally completed.

Majority of NDDC projects are executed before being paid. The corruption is in how the contracts are awarded and how the contractor is paid at the end of the project.

You need to part with 10-13% of the contract sum in some cases before you can get the contract from senators who are normally given the contracts then you will have to pay another 10% of the contract sum for you to be eligible for payment after completion of the project.

These lack of due process discourages genuine contractors.

But at the end of the day, the projects gets done for the amount paid by NDDC.

Enough of all these negative news about NDDC, the corruption runs through all government agencies and ministries in Nigeria, there is no special reason to single out NDDC except there are some bad motive for the whole exercise.

What we need is due process in the award of contracts, there should be open and online tendering process for each contract and there should be a clear payment mechanism in place after contract execution.

Is there any government agency in Nigeria where this is being done today? Why is the case of the NDDC special?

How many billionaire farmers in Nigeria can you name that made their billions through farming.

I don't blame you, if the police had done their job and locked you up for your criminal militant activities, you would not have had the opportunity to come online to insult people.
