In her speech, Tinubu, who is the wife of a former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, described APC as “an assurance of hope for Nigeria.’’

She said:“Without the genuine change and development being advocated by our great movement — APC, Nigeria risks further descent into the abyss of underdevelopment and backwardness.’’

On the bill seeking special status for Lagos, the senator said no effort would be spared to achieve it.

Tinubu disclosed that the three senators from Lagos had sponsored a bill seeking provision of financial grants to the state in the constitution, in recognition of its status as the nation’s economic hub.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tinubu distributed free November/December General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to 220 youths in the senatorial district.

She had earlier inaugurated the Post-Secondary School Scholarship Scheme, the Elderly Citizens Assistance Scheme and the Petty Traders Empowerment Capital Scheme as her constituency projects.

Gov. Babatunde Fashola’s wife, Abimbola; a former Minister of State for Defence, Chief Demola Seriki; and the State Chairman of ACN, Chief Henry Ajomole, were among dignitaries who graced the occasion.

Abagworo: Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, yesterday in Owerri, the state capital rescued a middle aged woman from being lynched when, under the cover of sit-at-home order issued by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MOSSOB), attempted to steal in her neighbourhood.

The unidentified woman rescued by the governor at the Christ Church Road, Owerri took advantage of the MOSSOB directive to shop-lift but unknown to her the shop owner was inside with some of her goods outside.

The shop owner however, did not know what was happening until a neighbour drew her attention by asking her whether the person carrying cartons of drinks from her shop had paid for them.

According to an eye witness, it was then that the shop owner, who had been sitting inside the shop out of fear for MOSSOB, then came out and raised the alarm, which drew the attention of the neighbours and passersby, who rushed to lynch the woman before Okorocha’s entourage arrived.

It was gathered that after narrating the story, the governor appealed to the shop owner and the mob to forgive the thief and instantly paid the woman whose shop was lifted the sum of N100,000 and offered to start a business for the thief.
