Gandollaar: You should understand life is turn by turn. Yesterday, Tinubu was in opposition. Today he's in the ruling party calling the shots. I'm yet to see a northerner who won election and paid him homage first before buhari. So everyone has their interest in different places.
But are you suggesting that this new law should exempt Tinubu because he has become very influential in APC politics?
Btw, don't pitch Lyon against the cabal just yet with this your post biko. Sorry dear. Even Lawan the Senate president paid Tinubu homage. Sorry about that. Lawan is number what in Nigeria? |

nairavsdollars: By Temidayo Akinsuyi
A former Minister of Transport, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against manipulating the rerun elections in states where last Saturday’s governorship elections were declared inconclusive.
Babatope particularly warned the electoral body against manipulating the election in Kano state which he described as a ‘political tinderbox’.
INEC had Monday night declared the governorship election held in Kano State inconclusive.
The election was declared inconclusive by the State Returning Officer, Prof B. B. Shehu, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi.
Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate had more votes than the incumbent state governor Dr Abdullahi Ganduje with a slim margin of 26,655 votes. Yusuf polled 1,014,474 votes, while Ganduje got 987,810.
With 2,211,520 accredited voters, 172 polling units were cancelled making a total of 100,873 votes cancelled and 49,761 rejected votes.
Speaking in a chat with INDEPENDENT, Babatope said rigging election in Kano may be dangerous for Nigeria’s peace and stability, adding that any negative occurrence here will also affect Africa and the rest of the world.
He said: “I pray that INEC does not rig the rerun elections, especially in Kano state. If they do, they will be endangering the peace, unity and cohesion of Nigeria.
“There are many issues intertwined in the Kano election that requires caution. From all said and done, Nigeria is still our country and definitely, a United Nigeria is good for Nigerians, Africa and the world.
“Kano is a political tinderbox and if they tamper with it, then they would have murdered peace in Nigeria and that will be very dangerous,” he said. https://www.independent.ng/rigging-kano-election-may-set-nigeria-on-fire-babatope-tells-inec/ He forgot to mention the remaining votes that made it inconclusive. |

naijapikin04: As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issues Certificate of Return to senators-elect and House of Representative-elect today (Thursday), Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, on Wednesday asked a Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, to restrain the commission from issuing certificate to Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
It would be recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, through his campaign coordinator, Ukpai Ukairo, had in a two separate petitions to the INEC dated February 24 and 25 respectively, asked the commission to order a rerun for Abia North senatorial election strictly in accordance with Section 33 (e) Rule 17 E (e) of the INEC law.
The lawmaker said the campaign organisation and indeed the entire people of Abia North “are however, at shock over the long silence of INEC over Abia North senatorial election even when there are precedence and evidences to right the wrong here and save the zone of imminent crisis.
“As a law abiding citizen, we have today filed a suit before a Federal High Court, Umuahia, Abia State, asking it to restrain INEC from issuing Certificate of Return to the APC candidate, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, in the said inconclusive election in Abia North.”
The lawmaker in the exparte motion filed by his lead counsel, Chief Ukpai Ukairo, is asking the court to stop the commission from recognising the APC candidate as duly elected.
Ohuabunwa, had earlier in a petition to the commission, insisted that it would amount to double standard for INEC to issue Certificate of Return to Kalu despite his petition, adding, “We are worried about the inability of the commission to make public pronouncement on the matter.
“This conspiracy of silence must end now. Abia North cannot be different. INEC has done it before (rerun) in some states and senatorial elections where the number of votes cancelled were higher than the marginal lead.
“It’s also important to note that the candidate of the APC for Abia North senatorial election, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, scored a total of 31,000 votes, while the PDP candidate, Senator Ohuabunwa, was alloted 21 ,000 votes.”

kidap: Timi Frank exposes another midnight meeting between Bubari, INEC boss, others
...Tells PDP govs, leaders not to celebrate yet
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank has revealed another midnight meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chief of Army Staff, and the acting Inspector General of Police among others.
Frank in a statement in Abuja, claimed that the meeting was called at the instance of the presidency on how to perfect victory for the ruling party in the six states already declared inconclusive by the INEC.
The President had earlier on Tuesday met behind closed door with some Northern govermors, which the purpose was not made known to the public.
Exposing the meeting through a press statement Wednesday in Abuja, the political activist said it is the third time that the INEC chairman and others were secretly meeting the president in the midnight.
Frank raised an alarm that the way APC allegedly stole the mandate freely given to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the Presidential election, "the electoral empire is out to repeat the same plot in the rescheduled rerun governorship elections in six states."
According to him, the latest meeting took place at the Glass House of the Presidential Villa, which started at about 1:30am and lasted for about an hour.
Frank claimed that the INEC boss arrived the Presidential Villa in the same Armoured BMW 7 series vehicle with the Chief of Army Staff, Buratai and later joined by other APC leaders.
"Our Eagle eye in the presidential Villa has exposed another secret meeting against Nigeria by the people we trusted with power. The latest meeting is meant to finalise strategies on how to rig the six states declared inconclusive for the ruling APC. These are states already won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by later declared inconclusive.
"I challenge the INEC chairman to deny and swear with the Holy Qur'an that he has not been meeting with the President. History will always remember the 2019 general elections and the role played by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, will never be forgotten in a hurry," Frank stated.
The Bayelsa-born activist, however, called on all the serving and elected governors, National Assembly leaders and other stakeholders of the PDP not to celebrate any victory yet untill the six states of Rivers, Sokoto, Bauchi, Kano, Adamawa and Plateau are declared for the party.
"The game plan is to adopt Osun template for the rerun elections. PDP leaders must speak out loudly against militarisation of these elections, the evil plot of the latest meeting should not be allowed to materialise because the APC government will do everything possible to rig these rerun elections," Frank said.
While calling on international community to continue to keep an eye on the electoral process in the country, Frank said the statements released by the EU and UK to condem the militarisation of last Saturday's governorship election have vindicated his earlier position.
"I also called on the Sultan of Sokoto, the Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar-ed Peace Committee - who have been keeping quiet in the face of injustice -and other leaders of thoughts to call the Buhari-led APC’s government to order.
Signed: Comrade Timi Frank Ex-APC deputy spokesman Abuja.
