PoliticsZulum Directs Urban Board To Unseal NNPP’s Office, Calls It ‘Wrong Timing’ by AtorKelly(op): 9:24pm On Aug 27, 2022
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Friday directed the Borno State Urban Development Board to immediately unseal Maiduguri headquarters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, describing the board’s decision as “wrong timing”.

Zulum’s spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau, confirmed in a statement issued on Friday, that the Governor became aware of the board’s action and has directed that it should be reversed saying, “no matter the justification, the timing is wrong”.

“The good people of Borno State are well aware that in the last three years, the Borno State Urban Development Board has been carrying out series of reforms which included sealing of some buildings operated by individuals, corporate bodies like Banks and even some government institutions which issues contravened laws relating to non compliance with Maiduguri’s town planning procedures.

“The Governor became aware that the board sealed an office operated by the NNPP.

“Although the board claimed to have acted in the same regard in acted against other offices, by sealing the NNPP’s headquarters for wrongful conversion of residential area for office purpose, Governor Zulum regards the board’s action as that of wrong timing.

“Zulum believes that no matter the justification, the board’s decision is bound to be given political interpretation and which could heat up the polity and cause needless distractions.

“For that reason, Governor Zulum had already directed that the board should suspend its own rule on this particular instance bordering on the NNPP.

“The Governor believes that reversing the decision is in the overall public interest for peace.

“Governor Zulum believes that all political parties should be free to lawfully operate and citizens should be free to associate with political parties of their choices without hindrances.

“Zulum also advised authorities dealing with issues that could involve political parties to consider the need to invite stakeholders of all existing parties for consultations and to jointly agree on conducts that should align with existing state laws and without undermining the freedom and independence of all political parties to operate in Borno State”. Gusau was quoted in the statement.

A Police Sergeant, Haruna Yusuf, has disclosed how he stole a rifle from a mosque in the police station and sold it to a disc jockey.

Yusuf, who was paraded with six other persons, suspected to be cultists, said he sold the English Berretta pistol at the sum of N47,000 to the DJ, who was said to be an amourer for the cult group in Omu-Aran, Kwara state.

He adds, “I am traffic warden serving in Kwara state. I was on a special duty when I was arrested on November 30, 2021 by a team from IRT. I was arrested with regards to a missing fire arm. SportsRe: Ronaldo Replaces Messi As Highest-Paid Footballer In Forbes Ranking by AtorKelly(m): 7:13am On Sep 23, 2021
aluyapreston:
Na today.

This was exactly how Forbes rated Ronaldo to be the first football to earn an accumulated billion dollars over his career.

At the end we found out that just three years of Messi salary from 2018 to 2021 ($600+ million) was more than Ronaldo total Networth of $500+ million dollars.

So we clearly know who the bigger man is. I won't be shocked if Messi is a billionaire sef because if you earn more than half a billion in Three years then you must have earned thrice that figure in 18 years.

Ronaldo can keep declaring its assets while Messi keep mum on his. Messi is like Putin of Russia. will always smile because when others talk about money he knows he is the boss.

From the breakdown sef, Messi earns higher in football than RONALDO and has maintained that gap since 2009. It was even closer this time as he only beat Ronaldo with 5 million pounds.

Some of you guys knows nothing about financial permutations, you just open your mouth and say whatever comes out of it..

Do you use salaries to compute networth? Does your salary determine your networth?

You that is typing this, how much is your salary and what is your networth?

If you don't know the difference between networth and salaries, then keep quiet.

'It's a disgrace' - Pellegrini rips into La Liga for having the 'most dives' and being the slowest league in Europe

Peter McVitie
21 Aug 202121:10 UTC +01:00

The Betis boss says coaches, players and referees must make an effort to restore the Spanish top flight's reputation

Manuel Pellegrini has labelled La Liga a "disgrace" for being too slow and says they must do more to cut out the time-wasting and diving.

The Chilean coach saw his Real Betis team held to a 1-1 draw by Cadiz in their league clash on Friday.

Pellegrini was disappointed his side could not find the winner against such defensive opponents and feels the Spanish top flight is being held back by teams that disrupt the flow of matches.

What has been said?
Pellegrini launched into a tirade in his post-match press conference, telling reporters: "We have to make an effort between referees, coaches and players so that La Liga is not this shame because in the referees' meeting they told us that it is the slowest league in Europe.

"People want to watch a show, and we're not giving it to them. The most time-wasting, the most dives, it's a disgrace.

"There is a show that we have to take care of. People pay a ticket for something."

What next for Betis?
Pellegrini's team have two points from as many matches so far in La Liga.

But a huge test awaits his side next week as they host Real Madrid at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

The Verdiblancos have a respectable record against the capital club, though, having won two and drawn one of their last six meetings.

CultureDeji Of Akureland Abolishes ‘eze Ndigbo Title’, Installs New Lgbo Leader by AtorKelly(op): 9:10pm On Aug 14, 2021
August 14, 2021
Five years after the paramount traditional ruler, the Deji of Akure land, Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi abolished the Eze Ndigbo title, a new Igbo leader for the Igbo community in the Akure Kingdom, Chief Umenweke Titus has been installed.

Recall that the Igbo community had been without a traditionally recognized leader since the removal of the then leader, Mr Gregory Iloehika and the subsequent placement of ban on the title of Eze Ndigbo in 2016 by Oba Aladelusi.

Oba Aladetoyinbo who had earlier approved the appointment of Chief Umenweke Titus about a year ago finally performed the traditional installation of the new Igbo leader at a ceremony held at the Ojukoto’s court of the Deji’s Palace.

While performing the rite on the new Igbo leader, the Asamo of Akure Kingdom, High Chief Rotimi Olusanya urged the new leader to continue to toe the path of honour and integrity which he is known for.

Olusanya urged him to lead the Igbo community rightly and ensure that there is a cordial relationship between them and the Akure people.

He charged him to ensure that there is a continued mutually beneficial relationship between the Igbo community and her host.

The paramount ruler while speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Michael Adeyeye said the Monarch had to wait for almost six years after the occupant of the office was removed due to his insubordination and disrespect to the exalted stool of the Akure Monarchy.

He said the essence of waiting was to ensure that the Igbo community present a consensus candidate that will be acceptable to them.

Adeyeye also added that the palace took time to do an adequate check on the background and antecedents of the new leader before finally installing him to give direction to the Igbo community.

Oba Aladetoyinbo described the Igbos as an integral part of the Akure Kingdom. We have inter-married, we share businesses together among other things. It is pertinent to say without any iota of doubt that the Igbo have been very instrumental and contributed in no small measure to the success story of the economic viability of Akure land.

The Monarch who also described them as industrious said I am very sure that my first wife is an Igbo woman. This will further tell you the bond and the respect I have for the Igbo people.

While responding after taking his oath of allegiance, the new Igbo leader, Chief Umenweke Titus said he was highly elated that his people found him worthy to be recommended to the Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom as their Leader.

” l am equally grateful to Oba Aladetoyinbo for the confidence he reposed in him and I promise to ensure that henceforth, there will be a great bond of unity between the Igbo and the Akure people.

“We are one, we have our houses, businesses and families here. Therefore we are an inseparable part of the Akure community, he said.

Chief Umenweke Titus who took his oath in Akure dialect to the admiration of the people said he had lived in Akure for over fifty years and that all his children speak the dialect and have all their friends here.

“I want to say without fear of contradiction that I am an Akure man with Igbo blood.

The installation was personally witnessed by the Deji of Akure Kingdom, The Akapinsa of Ipinsa, Akure Senior High Chiefs, High Chiefs, Chiefs and eminent sons and daughters of the Akure Kingdom as well as members of the Igbo community and other Heads of non-indigenes Associations.

SportsFifa Bans Former Caf President Hayatou For Flouting ‘ethics Code’ by AtorKelly(op): 5:53am On Aug 04, 2021
The world football ruling body has found the seasoned Cameroonian football administrator guilty.

Fifa has handed former Caf president Issa Hayatou a one-year ban from all football-related activities.

Hayatou, 74, was found guilty for getting involved in the Lagardere Sports deal over the media and marketing rights of competitions organised by Caf while he was president of the African football ruling body.

Aside from the ban, the Cameroonian was hit with a fine of thirty thousand Swiss Franc (CHF 30,000).

According to the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee, the former interim Fifa boss breached article 15 (Duty of Loyalty) of the Fifa Code of Ethics.

“The investigation into Mr Hayatou’s conduct in his position as Caf president concerned his involvement in the negotiation, conclusion and signature of the memorandum of understanding and contractual agreement for the commercialisation of media and marketing rights of competitions organised by Caf with the company Lagardere Sports between 2014 and 2017,” a statement from Fifa website read.

“Based on information gathered by the investigatory chamber, Mr Hayatou had breached his duty of loyalty in his position as Caf president, by entering, in the name and on behalf of the confederation, into an anti-competitive agreement with Lagardere Sport which was detrimental and caused significant damage to Caf (both financially, in the amount of EGP 200 million, as well as to its reputation).

“Consequently, the adjudicatory chamber found that Mr Hayatou had breached article 15 of the current edition of the Fifa Code of Ethics and sanctioned him with a ban from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at both national and international level (administrative, sports or any other) for one year.”

This sanction takes effect from August 3 and that means that he will not be involved in January's Africa Cup of Nations that will be held in his homeland.

In June, Fifa also handed the former vice-president of the Caf, Constant Omari, a one-year ban from all football-related activities.

He was found guilty of receiving aid from Lagardere during discussions between Caf and the French media outfit.

Omar was claimed to have pocketed over 66,000 Euro (US$80,000), and Fifa has requested he returns these as part of his punishment.

SportsDONE DEAL: Ahmed Musa Joins Kano Pillars by AtorKelly(op): 5:40am On Apr 14, 2021
Ahmed Musa: Former Leicester City star rejoins Kano Pillars

The Super Eagles captain is back at the Sani Abacha Stadium for the remainder of the season after leaving the Saudi Arabia Pro League

Ex-Leicester City, CSKA Moscow and Nigeria international Ahmed Musa has rejoined Kano Pillars for a second stint, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

Musa has been a free agent since parting ways with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr on October last year.

And at 28 he has returned to the Sani Abacha Stadium after agreeing on a short-time contract with the Nigeria Professional Football League outfit.

“Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has sensationally returned to Kano Pillars FC for the remainder of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season (NPFL),” a statement from the Kano Pillars website read.

“Musa previously played for the Pride of Kano in 2009 where he ended the season as the top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League with 18 goals before moving to VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands.”

According to Kano Pillars, they agreed to the deal after ‘due consultations’ with the player and the League Management Company ‘who stand as a mediator to the deal’.

To this effect, Musa joins his boyhood club as an elite player of the league until the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

After completing all necessary documentation, the Super Eagles captain would be unveiled by the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje before the start of the league’s second stanza.

Musa began his European expedition at Eredivisie side VVV Venlo and his impressive performance in the Dutch side saw him sign for Russian topflight side CSKA Moscow.

Having won three Premier League titles, one Russian Cup and two Russia Super Cups with the Horses in his four-year spell, he joined Leicester City on July 8, 2016, for a club record of £16.6 million at that time.

Following his inability to tie down a regular place at the King Power Stadium, he was sent back to CSKA Moscow on loan, before teaming up with Al Nassr in 2018 on a permanent deal.

The Asian outfit beat several European clubs to the signing of the speedy forward who impressed at the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia with two goals in three matches.

His presence would serve as a big boost for Sai Masu Gida who are in the race to emerge as Nigerian league champions for the fifth time. They are second in the NPFL log after accruing 36 points from 19 matches played so far.

I am very surprise that everyone on this tread is talking about and attributing the problem to President Buhari.. No one is talking about the Governors!... The Governors must have pushed the FG to go the route of money printing...
Obaseki is talking about an alternative means of revenue... Has any governor in Nigeria ever sourced for an alternative revenue stream?... All they are interested in is going to Abuja and share money...

The states budgets are all tailored toward the money coming from Abuja... No Governor in Nigeria is giving details of or properly accounting for their Internal Revenue.

We need to return to regional government.

PoliticsConstitutional Review: Reps Refuse To Adopt 2014 National Conference Report by AtorKelly(op): 5:47am On Feb 11, 2021
ON FEBRUARY 10, 202110:19 PMIN
By Levinus Nwabughiogu-Abuja

House of Representatives yesterday stepped a motion to obtain the report of the 2014 National Conference with the aim of incorporating it in the ongoing constitutional amendment process of the national assembly.

The motion moved by the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Toby Okechukwu had made reference to the over 600 recommendations of the conference which he said were far-reaching.

He said that the reports of the 2014 National Conference and the report of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Committee on True Federalism chaired by Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-rufai will benefit the National Assembly in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

Moving motion, he said “The House is aware that the Federal Government of Nigeria instituted the National Conference on March 17, 2014 where about 492 delegates drawn from various segments, interest and professional groups of the Nigerian society brainstormed on how to build Nigeria into a more cohesive, viable, prosperous union.

“Aware that the Conference, made over 600 recommendations cutting across public service; devolution of powers and political restructuring; national security; trade and investment; energy; public finance and revenue generation; social welfare; politics and governance; electoral reforms, among others.

“Also aware that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) set up a Committee on True Federalism in August 2017 pursuant to Article 7 of the APC Constitution, the foreword to the APC Manifesto entitled “Our Vision for a New Nigeria” (page 3, paragraph 2), the party’s “Honest Contract with Nigerians” (page 7 of the APC Manifesto), its “Commitment to Restore Good Governance” (page 29 of the APC Manifesto), and the party’s promise on to build “a Government You Can Trust” (page 37 of the APC Manifesto), with a combined effect to engender national unity and stability, true federalism, good governance, and national development.

Mindful of the fact that this House, as well as the Senate, set up respective Committees on Constitution Amendment;

“Equally mindful that Section 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria vests in the National Assembly the powers to make laws for the peace, order, and good government of the Federation.”

But hardly had Okechukwu finished moving the motion when the Deputy Speaker of the House, Ahmed Idris Wase countered the motion, saying it was procedurally wrong.

He said that the Committee had sent out a notice, requesting inputs by way of memoranda from Nigerians.

According to him, it was incumbent on owners of the documents to submit them to the Committee if they considered them important.

At this juncture, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila who noted the input by the Deputy Speaker asked Okechukwu if he was contented with the intervention even though the prayer of the motion was commendable.

In his reaction, Okechukwu agreed to withdraw it but promoted a caveat that the documents should be made available to the committee in the course of the Committee’s sitting.

Speaking to Journalists afterwards, Okechukwu insisted that he would ensure the document was obtained at the committee level.

He reasoned that the speaker must have agreed to step it down with the hope that it was the responsibility of the committee to obtain the documents.

He said” The motion for me is additional and persuasive authority for us to have that literature dialogue by reputable Nigerians and if we are truly the representative of the people we ought to have the documents. There isn’t anything in that conference report that cannot address the mileage, challenges we are facing in our union.

“From revenue generation to devolution of power to state police and so on. We are strongly believing that the state of our union is not strong and that having that work that has been addressed and dealt with by reputable Nigerians. We need to have that body of literature and input by Nigerians.

“As the deputy speaker believes that what we are looking for in Sokoto is in our shokoto, which means we have the responsibility of having the report. So if he has taken that obligation then it’s his responsibility to make sure it’s part of what we address in the constitution review. That document has become a document of the presidency and it should be made an official document of the parliament.

“The Speaker stepped it down because he was believing that the deputy speaker advise suffices. I was of a different view that we should have the motion. But the speaker in his wisdom was of the view that the deputy speaker whose responsibility is to get those documents, if he has obligated himself to have those documents nothing is wrong with it, then we can have it through him. I will interrogate that at committee level if he doesn’t.”

Also speaking to Journalists, the Leader of the House, Ado Doguwa said there was no opposition to the motion by Okechukwu but that it was procedurally wrong to ask the House to specifically call for the documents.

He added that the motion was unnecessary as the committee had already been mandated to do its work.

“I don’t think there was anything against the motion of Deputy Minority Leader, Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu. What actually happened was that we all agreed that he was offering a very good piece of advice. What he was offering was something you can really believe is essential in the El-rufai APC report and the 2014 national conference report. These are essentially historic documents that may be very much of help to the constitutional review process at the moment. All we were saying is that the procedure on which he came up was quite unconventional.

“For a Committee like the Constitution Review Committee which was already out there working and has also made itself available for all the agencies, institutions, civil society organizations, the media and every other Nigerian, has been given the opportunity to come up by the normal memoranda submission to the process. So, you don’t expect any instrumentality of the House by way of motion or resolution to further entrench that mandate already given to the committee. We felt it was superfluous, not necessary but the piece of advice he offered was noted.

“The Chairman of the Committee was there and myself being the deputy Chairman was there. We have taken it as a very good observation and we will definitely get it used in the process of the constitutional review. But it needed not to be presented by way of motion or seeking the resolution of the House before any other person is asked to do what is expected naturally expected to do. Do you expect us to pass a motion before a civil society organization now comes up with its own civic responsibility? Do you expect us to pass a motion before a political party knows that they are expected to submit a memorandum to a Constitutional review committee? Basically, no.

“The motion was unnecessary but coming up with a very good piece of advice which he would have ordinarily submitted at the committee level to which he’s a member. But nobody argued against him. It was not against him as a member. Nobody also argued the idea in the context of the motion he raised. But the procedure was wrong and we should not be misled”, he said.

In a swift reaction made available to Vanguard early hours of Tuesday, the BUA group has released details of what transpired at the CACOVID steering committee where the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele announced that CACOVID had been given the opportunity through the Afrexim Platform to access and pay for 1million doses, provided payment was made today or tomorrow – failure which the opportunity to get those doses next week may be lost.

According to BUA, after extensive deliberations, there was no agreement reached and despite members being offered the opportunity to donate funds towards procuring the doses, none offered.

“BUA then took it upon itself to offer to pay for the 1million doses at the agreed rate of US$3.45 per dose totaling US$3,450,000,000.00 which translates to 1.311billion Naira.

“The Chairman of BUA also requested through the CBN governor that the Naira equivalent be paid to the relevant account with CBN, and that CBN forward the dollar payment to Afrexim on CACOVID’s behalf.

BUA affirmed that the payment was made immediately after the meeting and transferred the money to the CBN in order to meet the deadline.

BUA noted with dismay that the actions of the CACOVID team only meant that “some members of CACOVID were not happy that BUA took this initiative in the interest of Nigeria and to ensure that the deadline was met to receive the 1 million doses of the vaccine next week.

“BUA did this gesture in good faith as it has done with its interventions throughout the pandemic,” it said.

It alarmed that “We will however like to state clearly that we are aware that a prominent member of CACOVID is not happy that BUA took the initiative to pay for the vaccines – fulfilling our pledge just as we said during the meeting.

“Now, they want to scuttle it by this action because they were unable to take the initiative.

“We find this release by CACOVID to be very petty and unbecoming of seemingly serious corporate citizens because it is tantamount to playing politics with the lives of Nigerians.

“This is no time for politics. It is time for us to come together to help Nigerians and it does not matter who is helping or paying.

“We stand ready to keep supporting and despite this petty action, we have decided to let the money remain in the CACOVID Account with the CBN pending when they are ready to utilize the funds for Nigerians to access the vaccines,” the statement reads

PoliticsWhy We’re Inaugurating Mega Political Party — Utomi, Na’Aba, Agbakoba, Moghalu by AtorKelly(op): 11:03pm On Feb 02, 2021
ON FEBRUARY 2, 20217:40 PMIN NEWS
By Henry Umoru, ABUJA
LEADERS of the National Consultative Front, NCF, a frontline political pressure group has given a gloomy picture of Nigeria, with a grim verdict that this House called Nigeria has fallen.

According to the group of Leaders who took a cursory look at all the aspects of Nigeria which include corruption, unemployment, weak institutions, cost of governance, marginalization of many critical interest groups and stakeholders, including the youth, women, rural people, among, Nigeria is in a state of despondency and is on the edge of total collapse, calling that all hands to be on deck as fast as quickly to save the country.

The group in a statement signed yesterday, titled, ” Open Memo: To all Nigerians Citizens of Conscience and Stakeholders, have resolved to inaugurate a new mega Political party next month, March to save Nigeria as well as mobilize for a new Peoples constitution for Nigeria as a basis for sponsoring credible candidates for the 2023 general and presidential elections.
The statement was signed by Prof. Pat Utomi, former Speaker, House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’abba; former President of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Olisa Agbakoba, SAN; Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed; and proof Kingsley Moghalu.

Others are Dr Obadiah Mailafia, Prof Mrs Remi Sonaiya, Comrade Issa Aremu; Prof Chidi Odinkalu; Chief Precious Elekima; Arch Ezekiel Nya-Etok; Dr Tanko Yunusa and Peter Ameh.
They have also charged the government to stop heightening what they described as anarchy and Civil strife in the Country by as a matter of urgency, adopt ranching and flushing out all criminal elements from Nigeria’s forests, including Sambisa.

The group said, “Since its formation in July 2020, the National Consultative Front, NCFront has come to terms with the fact that political power is crucial to the realization of its goals and objectives for a New prosperous Nigeria, so the Front will not hesitate to seek political power to lead and govern Nigeria as a credible alternative Peoples’ movement to the two dominant political parties and their cohorts in Nigeria, but not desperately or precipitately. To this extent, we wish to state that the NCFront will not be fixated on the power politics of 2023 but rather in first mobilising Nigerians for a brand new people’s Constitution that can enable Nigeria to work for all and be rid of corruption and self-aggrandizement in politics and in government.

“The point being made here is that the ideological plan of action for our Mega Political mass Movement, now to be launched, following due consideration of the second wave of Covid 19 pandemic, by the end of March 2021, is to, first and foremost, pursue Popular Democratic CONSTITUTIONAL REWORKING and REMAKING of NIGERIA to give the country a new constitutional template that will enable it to embrace a new legitimate political structure and national legal framework that can essentially make politics less juicy, attractive and corruptive but service-oriented and values-driven for mass prosperity.

“Therefore, the new Mass Political Movement shall be expected to immediately embark on a vigorous mobilisation for a new peoples constitution for Nigeria and it is after the struggle is won by the peoples of Nigeria that the movement in form of a credible alternative mega party to the APC and PDP, shall be expected to venture into the second phase of its agenda, which shall be to present and sponsor credible candidates for electoral power, as a mega movement party and mass ideological platform for pursuing the good governance and prosperity of Nigeria.

“In other words, our emergent mass movement shall be expected to first mobilize Nigerians home and abroad for a New Nigeria through the democratic constitutional restructuring of the country before venturing into electoral power politics and this shall be a sequel to the sealing of a democratic merger and fusion of all the credible political parties and groups within the fold of the Front, (taking a cue from the advice of former INEC Chair, Prof Attahiru Jega during our national consultation on internal party democracy last year) as one indivisible formidable alternative political bloc, when the time comes. In essence, what we shall be launching is an alternative political class and credible political leadership that can step forward to lead the country any time, even in the event of any emergency.

“Again, although the ultimate aim of the NCFront is to win power to lead Nigeria, however, our various consultations and recent experiences have revealed also that without first replacing the existing warped corruptive military constitution of 1999, it may be fruitless and impolitic to engage in an electoral contest with moneybags and State captors, who have already amassed ill-gotten funds from governing the country, on the basis of money politics or highest bidder’s electoral merchandising but rather on ideology, principles, values and service to the Citizens and Electorate. So, we have resolved to mobilise Nigerians to first change the humongous and outrageous cost of contesting elections and winning electoral power in Nigeria through constitution reforms, which will also include electronic and diaspora voting, among others.

“Therefore, in the light of the ravaging Covid 19 pandemic and after due consultations, the leadership of NCFront, has decided to shift the formal launch of the planned mega mass movement, earlier scheduled to hold at the end of January 2021, now to 29th to 31st of March, 2021. This emergent movement of the people, as stated above, shall immediately after its inauguration, undertake two phases of interventions on its platform i.e to first agitate to get democratic constitution reform for the country and thereafter present credible candidates for the next elections in Nigeria. A two-prong approach to rescuing and leading our beloved country, Nigeria into stability and prosperity.

“Consequently, we shall immediately proceed to carefully work out a legal framework and procedure on how to strategically replace the self-contradictory 1999 constitution with a new legitimate people’s constitution without having to create a constitutional lacuna or pitfall for the country. In this regard, we may have to collaborate with some Eminent Jurists and Statesmen/women, among others, who have already provided substantial answers to that national constitutional question in their works on how to legitimately and legally repeal and replace 1999. However, the NCFront has also in the recent past canvased that the country can overcome possible constitutional quagmire in this regard by compelling the National Assembly, in their ongoing constitution review assignment, to amend sections 8 and 9 of the 1999 constitution; two sections, which presently take away sovereign powers over the Nigerian Constitution from the peoples and citizens of Nigeria and technically put it in the hands of their lawmakers rather than the Sovereign Peoples of Nigeria.

“Our position, therefore, is that the National Assembly, in their ongoing constitution amendment process, should without fail, provide for a Referendum clause in the two sections of the existing 1999 constitution, so as to enable Nigerian Citizens take full ownership of their Constitution as well as reclaim their inalienable constitutional Sovereignty over the country, as applicable in advanced democracies of the world.

“Finally, we wish to reiterate in unambiguous terms that we are not a group desperately out to acquire power at all cost. Therefore, we will not hesitate, if the political dynamism changes, to join hands with other similar ideological forces to create, collaborate, realign to endorse and adopt a credible alternative political party that shares our vision and objectives and passionate to give full vent and implementation to our vision, mission and programme for the redemption and prosperity of Nigeria.

On why they are troubled, the leaders said, “those who are in positions of authority do not really appreciate what leadership means. Instead of self-sacrifice for the advancement of the common good, they are enmeshed in acute narcissism, extreme self-love that leaves little or no resources to cater for the welfare of the people.

“Cost of governance and of winning elections and political power in Nigeria is outrageous and out of proportion with common sense. A comparison with prosperous countries reveals frightening relativities.

” Weak Institutions: Public service institutions have become a public disgrace in all ramifications. Nigerians go through daily pains to secure service from public institutions that have been set up to serve them. Again, when the boundaries of official conducts cannot be ascertained, people cannot anticipate the outcomes of transactions. That is the case of Nigeria right now. Whether it is the pensions of Retirees, Certificate of Occupancy and effectiveness of Land Registry in ensuring property rights, the report is negative and calls desperately for urgent sustainable change.

“Corruption: Nothing is more troubling to us than the cancer of corruption which has imperilled progress in Nigeria. Ironically, the current government rode to power on the mantra of war against corruption, yet, a simple observation of the same government today will reveal that corruption is much worse under its watch.

” Unemployment: The rate is alarmingly high and unacceptable. It creates the fertile ground for more criminality and insecurity as most Nigerians are already being subjected to. The government has shown little or no vision and creativity about job creation and the little effort to provide palliatives with government jobs and conditional cash transfers have been debased and squandered by nepotism and partisanship.

“Monumental loss of faith in the State and trust in Government is a phenomenon which leads to failure to cooperate with policy ideas. This trust deficit has led to serious political sabotage and dysfunctional governance of the country breeding socio-economic chaos and State collapse.

“Marginalisation of many critical interest groups and stakeholders, including the youth, women, rural people and ethnic nationality groups underscore the urgent imperative for justice, inclusion, equity, and fairness, such that the peoples of Nigeria can again own their country and feel patriotic.

“Nigeria’s decline into a criminal enterprise, failed State and poverty capital of the world, as both the Brookings Institution, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation studies indicated, poses a great danger to the future of all Nigerians and the entire black race as manifest in the helplessness and incapacitation of the Nigerian State in the heightening tension and civil strife foisted by the violent clashes between herders and farmers, making Nigerians resort self-help.”

On NCFront Action Plan, they said, “In view of the foregoing, NCF is flagging off national working committees on select thematic challenges of the country with a view to generating outcomes as way forward for the country. The committees will have a working brief based on terms of reference from the NCF Steering Committee.

“Constitution Drafting Committee:
Dr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), Fr. (Dr.) George Ehusani and Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed will co-chair a 60 member Constitution Drafting Committee from across the country and stakeholder’s groups to explore the provisions of the 1963 constitution, the 1979 Constitution, the 1989 constitution, the 1995 constitution, the reports and draft constitutions of the constitutional conferences under Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan as well as the proposed Peoples’ Constitution produced by PRONACO Peoples’ National Conference chaired by Chief Anthony Enahoro of blessed memory, among others in giving the Nigerian people a truly people’s draft constitution based on the principles of devolution of powers, political restructuring, and democratic ownership of government and the Nigerian State by the people.

“Youth Development Committee:
This committee will have 60% of its membership under the age of 40. They will be expected to identify how to extract a demographic dividend from our youth bulge and determine how to give the youth a voice in the affairs of the nation and ensure that this majority of our population does not have their human rights and property rights abused or appropriated by self-serving public authorities. We, as a People’s Front, recognise and respect the diversity and different circumstances of the different parts of our federation and the fact that while these differences make #EndSARS the issue in some parts, they make #End Banditry the issue in another part. However, it was crystal clear to us that all are united in pursuit of a better Nigeria that works for all.

“Committee on the Economy:
The committee will use the ideas of Latent Comparative Advantage to identify endowments and resources in the six geopolitical zones and suggest a path to competitiveness on the value-chains of each of those endowments that can make each zone independently prosperous. It will construct linkages that will provide synergies for those sources of independent endowment value-chains that can make Nigeria a top ten player in the economic prosperity league of the world. Our idea is also to treat local governments as Economic Development Areas and increase their economy as against their political value, to the extent that education, primary healthcare, and production clusters can be synchronized and coordinated by highly experienced Councillors like retired top executives from enterprise, professionals and civil servants as well as academics and security agency top brass in their retirements.

“Political Party Reform:
This committee shall undertake the tasks of reviewing the problems of internal party democracy as well as the purpose, ideology and modus vivendi for political parties in Nigeria, as these subjects are critical to the current stifling of the emergence of quality political leadership in the country. In this regard, the NCFront is committed to a production-oriented and value-driven form of government based on compassion for the socially disadvantaged but directing efforts towards equalization of opportunity and bringing the majority into a people’s capitalism of SME owners, as NCF has committed itself into forging a coalition between the rural farmers, NEPU-type of artisans, the administrative class, and the centre-left intellectuals. We believe this is the coalition that will bring productivity, prosperity and social harmony to Nigeria.

NCF, therefore, aspires to become a Movement of the Centre-left progressives with conservative values built around the dignity of the human person, liberty, human solidarity and the principle of subsidiarity. An ideology proceeding therefrom will shape our new movement manifesto and political culture in Nigeria going forward.

“Policing: This is a committee to be charged with making policing local, with collaboration between traditional policing and community policing, but one in which human and property rights issues are escalated to states and federal levels.

“Foreign Policy: A committee to ensure that Africa is the centre-piece of Nigeria’s foreign policy as expressed in support of ACFTA Agreement across borders and the respect for all Africans in which democracy is not abused by seat-tight leaders.

“Health Care & Education: This committee will interrogate constitutional appropriation or responsibility for healthcare and education, as we are more inclined to move both health care and Education to the concurrent list with Primary health care situated in local government, Secondary health care in the state and Tertiary care made concurrent for both state and federal governments. For the present worrisome state of Nigeria is largely the result of poor investment in the education and well being of the youth and in social infrastructure and the awful management of our Health and Education Sectors.

“National Unity and Equity:
This a committee to dissect how we lost the ability to reflect on the delicate balancing of sensitivities and interests in a multiple nationality federation such as Nigeria. Even when in the First Republic, the politics of precarious balancing was attributed to the governmental policy of Former Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa.
NCFront, therefore, remains committed to creating a new political class and leadership sensitive to this national balancing as well as the culture of ensuring equity and sensitivity to traditional interests, while building up unifying national ethos. For instance, rather than recommend the controversial grazing reserves/RUGA for Herders across the country, the government will do well by adopting and encouraging modern Ranches for cattle rearing in Nigeria to stop pervasive violent clashes between farmers and herders and also to be able to isolate criminal elements, who are though without cattle, operate under the guise of cattle pastoralism to take over Nigeria’s Forests and Bushes to inflict banditry harm and extortion on unsuspecting innocent citizens, a situation, which today has pushed our beloved country to the precipice of another civil war.”

A 20-year-old lady, Fatima Usman has accused her father of having sexual intercourse with her in Owo, Ondo state.

Fatima in a viral video gave the name of her father as Usman Momoh Sani, a worker in a tertiary institution in the state.

In the two minutes 10 seconds viral video, Fatima alleged that her father had been sleeping with her for long.

“Whenever I refused to have sex with my father he would send her out of the house in the midnight.

“My father has been sleeping with me for a very long, and whenever I refused he would send me out of the room.

“If I say I will voice out, he would be threatening to kill me.

“He would bring out a knife and show me that if I tell anybody he would kill me.”

“My mother did not bother to check on me whether I slept in the room or not.

“Anytime my father sent me out, and I slept outside, my mother would have slept off, she did not know what was happening.”

Fatima called on the government to help him get justice.

However, in another viral video, a man who claimed to be an in-law to Fatima’s father confirmed the incident and said the family had intervened in the matter.

He said; “When we heard about the matter, we came to their house and Fatima’s father confessed to the commission of the act but pleaded that it was the devil that pushed him.

“So we took the matter to our village in Delta State and the family said he had committed sacrilege.

“So he was asked to bring some items as atonement for the incestuous act and he provided those items, which include tubers of yam, goat, local gin among others.

“After that, the elders in the village warned the girl not to return to her father’s house that she should be staying with me.”

He confirmed that the matter was reported at a police station in the town and Momoh was arrested, interrogated and later granted bail.

Police spokesperson in the state, Tee-Leo Ikoro, claimed ignorance of the incident when contacted for comment.
CrimeCourt Orders Adamawa ‘witches’ To Heal Three-year-old Girl by AtorKelly(op): 7:49pm On Jan 28, 2021

CrimeAgbor Gas Explosion: 4 Dead, Over 11 Hospitalised by AtorKelly(op): 7:08am On Jan 24, 2021
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, on Saturday confirmed that four persons died and no fewer than 11 hospitalised from burns following an explosion in a gas plant at Agbor on Friday.

The governor disclosed this to newsmen after visiting the plant, destroyed property and families of victims of the incident

He described the fire disaster as an unfortunate incident and announced that the State Government would pick the bill for medical treatment of the victims.

He said that the surviving patients were referred to a specialised centre for the treatment of burns at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for further treatment because of the high degree of burns they sustained.

“It was an unfortunate fire incident involving a gas station where the tanker was trying to discharge gas.

“We have visited the place and the victims and we have seen the extent of damage caused by the inferno.

“We lost four persons, three children and a woman.

“After my visit to the two families that lost their dear ones, I also visited the Central Hospital at Agbor where they were initially rushed to with varying degree of burns ranging from 80 to 90 per cent.

“They were immediately offered medical services even though they wouldn’t have been able to attend to them because of the extent of the burns so they have to transfer them to the Federal Medical Centre Asaba and the University of Benin Teaching Hospital with aid of ambulances provided by the State Government.

“I have directed the Commissioner for Health to make some deposits at the hospitals to enable them have full treatment,” he said.

The Governor said that complaints of inadequate medical care for the victims at the Agbor Central Hospital were misplaced, adding that most people who complained didn’t have an idea of what they were talking about.

“I have listened and heard the complaints. Haven listened to the Medical Director and the extent to which they went, obviously the patients had severe and extensive burns.

“Any burn that is above 30 per cent is a major burn and we are talking about 80 to 90 per cent burns here.

“So they needed to be moved to UBTH, a specialised centre for the treatment of burns. When you have such a degree of burns many hospitals will not accept them because the survival rate is low,” Okowa explained.

On siting of gas plants at residential areas, he said that he would liaise with the State House of Assembly to come up with a law regulating such investments.

“Obviously its a sad situation and we thank God that this one wasn’t close to a densely populated area otherwise the damage would have been more.

“I have just told the member representing Ika South Constituency, Hon. Festus Okoh, that I am going to meet with the House of Assembly to enact a law to that effect,” he stated.

Foreign AffairsUS Says ‘deeply Troubled’ By Reports Of Violence, Irregularities In Uganda Poll by AtorKelly(op): 8:09am On Jan 17, 2021
The US State Department said Saturday it is “deeply troubled” by reports of violence and irregularities surrounding Uganda’s presidential election, which saw Yoweri Museveni win a sixth term in office.

“The Ugandan people turned out to vote in multiparty national elections on January 14 despite an environment of intimidation and fear,” department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement.

“We are deeply troubled by the many credible reports of security force violence during the pre-election period and election irregularities during the polls,” she said.

Museveni extended his 35-year rule after an election which his main rival said was marred by fraud.

He was accused of crushing the opposition and media ahead of one of the most violent election campaigns in recent years, which saw the deaths of at least 54 people.

Ortagus called for “independent, credible, impartial and thorough investigations” into the reports of violence and fraud, and for those responsible to face justice.

She condemned attacks on political candidates, and said the State Department is “gravely concerned by harassment of and continued threats to civil society.”

Museveni won with 58.6 per cent of the vote, seeing off a stiff battle from former ragga singer Bobi Wine.

Wine was under heavy guard at his home on the outskirts of Kampala as the results were announced, with his party saying he was under “effective house arrest.”

The government said it was merely providing him with security.

SportsNapoli Officially Rename Home Ground Diego Armando Maradona Stadium by AtorKelly(op): 7:50pm On Dec 04, 2020
The San Paolo will see its name changed to honour the legendary figure, who passed away last week at the age of 60

The Naples city council has unanimously approved a resolution that will change the name of Napoli's home stadium from Stadio San Paolo to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The resolution was proposed by Naples mayor Luigi De Magistris only hours after the news that Maradona had passed away at age 60 last week.

Maradona is a revered figure in Naples after leading the city's club to two Serie A titles during his seven-year run with Napoli from 1984 to 1991.

"With his immense talent and his magic, he honoured the Napoli shirt for seven years, giving it two historical championships and other prestigious cups, and receiving in exchange from the whole city an eternal and unconditional love," a statement from the council read.

The statement also noted the connection the working-class city shared with Maradona, who was raised in poverty in his native Buenos Aires.

"Through the football victories of the Argentine champion, it was not only the Napoli team that won but the whole city, which fully identifies with him," it read.

"Always on the side of the weakest and the common people, Maradona fought the prejudices and discrimination that Neapolitans were still subjected to inside the stadiums, becoming the idol of the entire city."

Napoli had the chance to pay tribute to Maradona last week during their Europa League match at home against Rijeka. Captain Lorenzo Insigne laid a wreath before kick-off, while the Napoli team lined up in 'Maradona 10' shirts.

"He made such a big impact on this city and for everyone in the south of Italy. I want to be positive, and focus on my memories of a smiling man who loved football. It was tough to pull that shirt on. In some ways, it was always a dream, but not like this."

The final step in the stadium's name change will be the authorisation of the Prefect of the Province of Naples, which is expected to be a formality.
PoliticsShame On You, My Igbo People By Chioma Ugochukwu— Pennsylvania by AtorKelly(op): 8:42am On Nov 15, 2020
By Chioma Ugochukwu— Pennsylvania

I am home today nursing a torn muscle from my treadmill workouts and thought that I should comment on something that happened recently.

I noticed that a video was trending on Twitter a few days ago. It was a video of folks from a church in the Southeastern part of Nigeria holding a prayer walk for Donald Trump.

We saw reports earlier that another church in the region also held a parade for Trump. Those of you who follow me know that I have written about this strange phenomenon of Nigerians, particularly Igbos (my ethnic group), supporting and praying for Trump.

It started with the false meme that spread on social media that Trump supports Igbos (Biafrans). Some Igbos are pushing to secede from Nigeria due to their discontentment with the tensions between Christians in the North (Igbos are mostly Christians) and Muslims in the North.

Many of us Nigerians in the United States are dual citizens. We have often found it baffling that our brothers and sisters back home don’t seem to fully understand who Trump is.

Most of them truly believe that Trump is a devout Christian and some even call him a God-sent. Those of us who know Trump better find the claim to be ludicrous. Anyway, I have often tried not to be too critical of our folks back home, but seeing this video trending on Twitter and reading that Trump acknowledged it sent me over the edge.

While I understand that we are all entitled to our opinions, beliefs, and values, I find myself in a position of using my own voice to express my opinion and disdain for what I am seeing.

This is personal to me. I recognize that I am about to take a harsh tone here, but sometimes you’ve got to take a stand for your own values. I have no doubt in my mind that Trump does not give a damn about Igbos or Nigerians. In fact, he has blocked visas and family reunification programs for Nigerians.

He has not spoken out against the issue of police brutality in Nigeria, which most of our Igbo folks are fighting against with the #EndSARS movement. Trump has also blocked the appointment of Nigerians to leadership positions within some international organizations.

So, if you are one of the Nigerians holding prayer vigils and parading for Trump, shame on you! You are actively praying for a man who is doing his best to make life harder for your brothers and sisters in the diaspora.

I have not seen a prayer walk from any of you for the various issues we’ve encountered. We’ve had mass shootings in the United States and none of you held parades or vigils to pray for our safety. You pray for Trump and shamelessly tell us that we need to return home if we find his policies unbearable.

Meanwhile, you are all too happy to receive the billions of dollars in remittances that we send to Nigeria every year. Your prayers for Trump are prayers against our welfare and the welfare of our children. So, shame on you!

I don’t comment too much on events happening in Nigeria and it’s not because I don’t care; it’s just that I left Nigeria decades ago, which means that I can no longer draw on my lived experience for commentary.

I can rely on research, but that means that I will miss some nuances because one’s lived experience will always trump what one can deduce from reading. Many of you Nigerians praying for Trump actually believe that reading memes and news articles make you experts on Trump and the American experience.

You see the things you hear on the 700 Club and TBN as non-partisan and true. You are often dismissive of your brothers and sisters in the United States who draw on their lived experience to form their opinion of Trump. It will be nice if you would give us the benefit of the doubt and acknowledge that we may know this guy better than you do.

Trump does not give a damn about you or any other African nation! Trump is not a Christian, so shame on you for believing otherwise! Shame on you for supporting someone who saw a black man sitting in his lobby as an eyesore.

Shame on you for professing to be Christians even as you support a conman who defrauds workers, sleeps with porn stars, separates children from their parents, denounces refugees fleeing war-torn locations, takes away food stamps from children, and who is actively working to take away health insurance from millions.

The Igbos pride themselves on being smart. Whatever caused you to parade for a man who is pushing the world toward anti-intellectualism? Were we not taught that God is love? What does your Bible say about lust, greed, wrath, envy, and pride? Are they still deadly sins or not?

We have a name for people who sympathize with their abusers. We need to see if this is a case of the Stockholm Syndrome or just another case of the regular, everyday colonial mentality.

I recognize that I am being tough here, but if you are willing to support a white supremacist who spends all day sowing division, then rest assured that I have no problem distancing myself from you and your values.

The Police in Lagos have smashed a syndicate which specialised in importing fake and banned drugs from Pakistan to Nigeria, and cleared at the ports as scrubbing brushes. Two suspects have been arrested.

In the container of ‘brushes’ were fake and contraband medicines, including antibiotics, cough syrup, abortion pills, among others, with most of them carrying the name of a popular pharmarceutical company.

Vanguard gathered that policemen attached to Area ‘B’ Command, Apapa, saw some persons offloading goods from a container into a truck inside a plaza at Apapa.

Suspecting something was amiss, the policemen demanded the bill of lading of the container with number SEGU 6326800 and Customs officers that ought to have escorted it to a bonded terminal. But the men at work could provide any.

The Area Commander, ACP Olasoji Akinbayo, was said to have instructed his men to impound the trucks with numbers plates KTU216XG and SNK700XV

The fake drugs

Searched, 997 cartons of CSD with codeine cough syrup with batch number CSDD-1903; 54 cartons of tramadol tablets; 58 cartons of 250mg ampiclox syrup with batch number YK2J; I5 cartons of 20g cicatrin (3895); two cartons of CAC1000 plus (TD7L) and a carton of 125mg of amoxil syrup (SM4X) were discovered.

Also discovered were 17 cartons of 10ml Zentel suspension (3M9T); nine cartons of 50ml Septran suspension with batch number 5M5W; a carton of 156.25mg augmentin (SA38); one carton (less two bottle) of 250ml Vitaglobin Syrub Iron plus Vitamins (782); 16 cartons of 10ml Mb Chlor Chloramphenicol USP (181); 23 cartons of 50ml Maxolan Metoclopramide HCI Syrup (UB4N); three cartons of Efrose Gynaecosid (P05) with NAFDAC registration number 04-4162; a carton of Stepsiril Comfort Original as well as 333 cartons of scrubbing brushes.

Vanguard reliably gathered that since the discovery fake drugs and subsequent arrest of the importer, Uchenna Oreator, and the clearing agent, Uche Nwankwo, several calls from high-ranking security and paramilitary personnel have been made to prevail on the Area Commander to release the suspects and goods.

During interrogation, Oreator admitted ownership of the recovered goods, adding that he bought them at cheaper rates from Pakistan. He further revealed that he declared the goods as brushes.

According to him, “I got them cheaper than what the manufacturers in Nigeria are selling them. I am sorry. I know that what I did was bad. It was my first time doing it.”

The Police, as gathered, had begun an investigation to ascertain how the goods were moved to a bonded terminal from the APMT Terminal, Apapa, and why there was no Customs officer to escort the container to the bonded terminal.

Vanguard gathered that the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, also ordered his men to investigate if duty was paid to the government and also to ascertain whether the container was diverted.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the fake drugs, said: “We have written Customs and NAFDAC.

“We are working with them on this case. Updates will be given later, as the investigation is still ongoing.”

Why was she paraded? Is provision of family planning a crime in Ogun State?
She was supposed to have requested for proper identification.. like Govt issues identity cards and marriage certificates to ascertain that the man that came with her was really her husband..
Family Planning procedures is meant for legally married couples.. An hospital can't just carry out family planning for anybody... That's is where she did wrong

I guess it's only the churches in Lagos and Ogun State that can heal Covid 19 patients?... Or it's the Covid 19 virus only spreading in Lagos and Ogun State?...
What about all the Churches that are currently opened all over the country? How many people have they healed?... Except Lagos and Ogun State, all other states have opened their places of worship, so why are healings not taking place in these churches?
