Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Unilorin Best Graduating Student Jobless After 6years by Aude(f): 8:18pm On Sep 18, 2015 |
kaeforum: 6years and counting, who knows what God has in store, may be He wants her to o into business, the real challenge in showin the world that your a graduate is to be creative, look for problems in the society and profer practical solutions to them , you will be rewarded thats a fact.
Nobody owes you a job, she has to try something and stop waiting for govt job, having hig grades is different from having practical skills and know how.
She needs a change of mindset , she should stop promoting her disability, its the reason why she hasnt gotten a job.
She should tell prospective employers about her strenght and abilities and stop asking for sympathy from people. I totally agree with you. She just expects everything to be handed to her. A lot of the people whom you see in the corporate world started from somewhere. They didn't graduate and then were handed cushy jobs immediately. What experience does she have that she expects to be given a job in a university? During this past couple of years how has she developed her skills? How many application forms has she filled and has she volunteered anywhere in order to gain practical experience. She should stop resting on her past laurels and realize that theoretical knowledge is different from practical experience. The job market is full of graduates most of them with masters degrees. The key is how do you differentiate yourself from the others? What do you have to bring to the table? |

nlfan: I'm a lady o, and I will not allow her take this attitude near my husband, I actually keep her far from the people in my life, I don't let her in I don't think that's the right way to handle your mom. You should let your husband know what's happening so that together you both can find a solution to the situation. Your mom must be at an age where she needs regular medical checkup and treatment. Take her to a specialist who will be able to run several tests to see may have caused the changes in your mom's behavior. |

@op: you should take your mother to an expert for medical checkup. She could be going through menopause and this may be affecting her. It could be something else but it is best you get her to undergo several medical tests. |

HaneefahRN: Sorry, I just had to comment on this. Why are people looking down on teaching so much? Why is teaching so underrated like it's not a very important profession? You make teachers sound like lesser people. Being a teacher doesn't mean you can't study and aim high. My mum is a maths teacher, has her masters with PhD is view and does part time lecturing, so why the subtle and outright bashing of the profession by some ladies, as if it's a despicable and lesser profession? I believe a woman should follow her passion whether single or married, we also came to this World to fulfil a purpose. Whether teaching, medicine, law, nursing, engineering, etc, go into any field that pleases you. All these men saying trading and other menial jobs, some won't even leave monthly allowance for the woman, nor care for her feeding and clothing. A man that wants his wife to be a teacher should marry one and not expect an accountant to become a primary sch teacher. Thank God women are wiser now, don't depend on any man o. But at the same time, manage your time well, your career should not affect your family. Proudly a nurse + fashion designer! I dont think the ladies were bashing the teaching profession. Just like you mentioned in your write up, they are against the men expecting their wives to change professions after marriage. My mom was a teacher and a very kind and loving person. She hardly ever raised her voice and was very slow to anger. I consider teaching to be a noble profession and not a career for everyone. You need to have a vocation for it. Due to this silly mentality that everyone can be a teacher, we have a lot of useless teachers in our society Teaching should be a regulated profession like it's the case in the West. |

@op: remember your job title is assistant manager and not manager. You have a technical background so obviously you would manage a lot of the operational stuff. You cannot in your right mind expect the owners to take an official car ftom your boss and hand it over to you! Also what kind of qualification do you have? I'm assuming that it's a diploma or certificate course. In the corporate world the few times you would see a degree holder being a subordinate to a diploma holder would be if the diploma-holder worked their way up the ladder. My advice to you is to keep on working hard, learn to work in a team, get more qualifications and who knows you may become a manager with all the perks that come with the position. |

It's so funny to see how men will justify asking a woman if she is a virgin and then turn around and vilify women who ask about their boyfriends' salaries. Both questions are very probing and should only be asked if the couple are intimate. A man should not walk up to a girl he barely knows and ask her if she is a virgin. In the same light, a woman should not ask a man she has just started dating how much he makes. These are topics that should come up when the couple are intimate and in a serious, committed relationship. |

Laitesmart: Why do ladies find it difficult to answer some questions the way it is? simple, straight and direct. Some ladies will flare up when guys ask them some certain questions using the anger as an excuse to avoid the question. Questions that on a good day are actually harmless.
These two questions are always headache for ladies and i dont know why. Maybe the ladies in the house can let us know. The questions are... 1. HOW OLD ARE YOU? 2. ARE YOU A VIRGIN It's called respecting boundaries. These are questions you shouldn't ask anybody unless you are intimate with them. I can switch it round and ask why do men find it difficult to state how much they make or what their account balance is. We Africans need to learn boundaries, it's not everything that you should ask. Familiarity breeds contempt. |

@op: does your wife work and does she contribute to the upkeep of the home? If she doesn't, then tell her we are now in the 21st century and women do contribute to maintain the household. Too many African men die before their time because they take on a lot of responsibility. I'm certain that while you guys were dating she never paid for any of your outings or even bought you a present. If a person is tight-fisted during courtship, they won't change after marriage. I would always advise men that before they marry they should see if their partners would support them when times are hard. No one knows the future and marriage is a partnership. |

Gaborone: SonofEl, your last post was a good read.
But then, I'm worried by your use of words: "put her in her place.. ", " humbled her"... what's all that about? And it raises a welter of questions.
Are you sure that's not the 'breaking' I was talking about earlier? Why can't a man meet a rich intelligent woman, and just flow with her, and not make any attempts to make her feel like her wealth and intelligence is something she should be apologizing for? Why cant he just hear the opposing view of his medical student of a girlfriend, without interpreting it to mean she is trying to supersede him because he read food and nutrition? W hy cant he just enjoy an intelligent discuss with her, without interpreting it to mean she is 'showing herself'. Why can't her just befriend and love her, give her a chance to let him know who she really is, before judging her as proud and insubordinate?
Why does he have to 'humble' her? What does that even mean? Well said Gaborone. I concur 100% with you. |

babygirlfl: Did I read it right? Are we talking about Oga dishing food that is in front of him?
It seems the wife is a housewife. I don't see the man asking the wife to dish food that is already served if she too was getting ready for work at the same time. It does not make Oga right but at least he will have an excuse.
From the fb replies, it is clear most women don't pamper their husband because they love and adore him but because they are scared another woman will take their place. Yet the said men still jump from one woman to another claiming men are polygamous. Just how these women live their life like that beats me. So sad. I agree with you 100%. Some women treat their husbands nicely not out of love but just because they don't want another woman to take their place. |

D most annoying thing is dat wen u hear dis men sayin teaching teaching everwhere ,you would think they hav very good jobs sef that can provide for dia familys everyday needs...
I pity for the fathers who spent so much on dia daughters not knowing they ar planning to be teachers and chewing gum sellers... Why cudnt they be kind enof as to tel d old man not to waste his money as they won't be needing all d Msc's to sell groceries.
On the other hand ..maybe na nemesis sef because the fathers too must hav turned somone elses Chartered accountant daughter to a crayfish seller.
Now I understand why som men don't even bother sending dia daughters to school but focus on dia male children.
But wait oo. Where are d men dat always talk about a woman(married or not) being very successful in her chosen career so as not to b a liablity to her husband? Those men who praise rich women...and talk down on women that ar not there yet but want a rich man.. I noticed they ar not present here...or mayb they ar d same people shoutin teachers everywhere sef....confused people! Hahaha girl you are the best. I admire women like you. I am so happy that there are African women out there who reason the way you do. |

Toks2008: Lol! are you surprised that at 40 I'm still unmarried? I was actually in a scam affair that lasted for 12years which broke up two years ago so don't blame an innocent guy who found himself with the wrong lady from age 26 to 38.
So thats it in a nut shell. Can you elaborate more on why you consider your last relationship to have been a scam affair? Why I am asking is you were with the girl for 12years and you didn't get married to her. What held you back? I know of a relationship where the girl walked away after five years because among other things the guy showed no signs of wanting to commit to her. If you ask the guy why they broke up he will say the girl wasn't sincere, whereas the girl maintains she pulled the plug on the relationship because she felt if he couldn't commit to her then it meant he was looking for something more. I have always found it interesting the way females and males have a different opinion of why things ended. |

Because if you've started working, u'll know that some job descriptions dont allow u to "leave" ur company and go out in search of food, or anything.... During working hours. Far from it. I am in my thirties. I have been working for well over 10 years in all kinds of roles. I have never worked in Nigeria because I am not Nigerian. Everybody is entitled to a break. I know in Africa people like exploiting others but for someone like the op who seems to be in a senior position it seems weird that he cannot leave the company's premises. Maybe it is time HR departments started doing what they were created for and start ensuring that the employees are treated fairly and know their rights. What do people do if they don't bring food from home? How do you expect a person to be productive if they are not allowed some freedom? Well that is my rant over. Maybe it is time we Africans learnt how to treat each other. |
