Education / Major Reasons Many Students Fail To Graduate With Good Grades by aulmatro: 12:59pm On May 02, 2017
There are many reasons students in the various higher institutions of learning end up graduating with poor grades. However, observations have shown that often than not the reasons these students end up poorly are actually caused by the students. They knowingly or unknowingly plotted their own misfortune.

Based on personal observations, below are 5 major reasons students end up graduating with poor grades;

Starting Poorly: How well you begin a thing often tells how well you are going to end. This is particularly true if you desire an outstanding academic achievement in your higher education. A food number of first class students are those who were serious enough to put in the needed effort into their studies right from their first year in the school. They are not like those who will decide to use their first year in school to have "fun" and catch up with studies later. Such students usually end up realizing how difficult it is to truly catch up.

Misplaced Priorities/Poor Time Management: Many students give time and priorities to things that do not really matter and allow their studies and academic work to pile up unnecessarily.

To ensure an effective use of your time, you need to prioritize your daily activities. Being busy isn’t the same as being effective. Prioritizing and scheduling your daily activities creates a sense of responsibility and urgency. As a student, there’s need to organize and plan your daily activities in such a manner that you will have time for your studies on daily basis.

The fact remains that the major reason you are in school is to learn. Nothing else should occupy your time more than this. This does not mean you should not create time for other thongs. I am only saying that you shouldn't forget that your main priority for being in school is to learn.

Negative Influence: There is a saying that goes, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.” No matter where we find ourselves, the people we associate with will often determine the height of our possibilities. Achieving success is much easier when you are surrounded by the right people.

The truth is you are going to meet the good, the bad and the ugly while on campus. It is entirely up to to you who you choose as a friend. however, be mindful of the fact that whoever you choose as a friend will one way or the other determine your success.

Education / Why Admission Criteria Remain Unpredictable Even With The New JAMB Model by aulmatro: 12:28pm On Jul 06, 2016
Reactions and counter-reactions have been trailing the release of the new JAMB admission screening model, which is supposed to be a guideline for admitting students into tertiary institutions in the country.

What many do not know is that the admission process into Nigerian tertiary institutions has never been and will never be transparent or predictable as long as the current factors surrounding it remain.

What I mean is that even with the current JAMB admission model, you still cannot confidently tell if you are qualified or not qualified for admission this year.

Until the admission model becomes such that a candidate can confidently predict his or her admission before the admission list is released and it turns out so, then we still do not have a credible admission model.

What makes you even think that institutions will religiously follow this model without undue compromise? By the way, don’t mind my tone. I’m only trying to bare the situation in black and white.

JAMB has disclosed that institutions will only screen candidates sent to them by JAMB. The question is on what basis will JAMB determine the candidates to be sent to a particular institution? Don’t try to guess. The simple truth is that you don’t really know.

As long as factors like catchment area, educationally less developed States (ELDS), admission quota, and other subtle ones remain determinants of admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions, I don’t think the new JAMB admission model makes any substantive difference because at the end of the day you still won’t be able to determine or tell what factors qualified or disqualified you for admission as the case may be.

This has always been the situation in previous years, where by a candidate that scored above the required cut-off mark for a particular course is denied admission and another candidate that scored less is given admission into the same course. Do you think the new JAMB admission model will change any of that? No way! As long as the factors I mentioned earlier remain, nothing will change in that regard.

In most countries, tertiary institutions have their requirements, once you meet the requirements, your admission is as sure as death. It’s that simple. But you cannot say that about Nigeria. May be we will develop to that level with time when our institutions have developed the capacity to accommodate the teeming population of admission seekers yearly. But for now, the present reality remains.

If you are still wondering what I am driving at, let me spell it out; admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions as it stands is more like 50% effort and 50% game of luck.

So instead of breaking your head over what the new JAMB admission model means and does not mean, you should rather make sure you put in your own part of the 50% and then count on luck, influence or what my church folks will call divine favour to produce the other 50% for you.

The problem many have is the inability to find their own place in life. Some call it habitat, while others call it niche but it simply means that particular area where you operate easily, naturally and excellently. It refers to where you were wired to thrive, succeed, excel, flourish and prosper.

The most vulnerable spot on earth is where you were never meant to be. It could be in your career, business, ministry, marriage, geographic location, or a movement. Life becomes a lot easier when you are standing in your right place.

Much of personal suffering is a product of not leading the life God has assigned us. If you find yourself struggling to make ends meet even after you have applied all the principles you know about success, there is great possibility that you are not in your right place in life. Romance / How To Build Trust In A Romantic Relationship by aulmatro: 5:50pm On May 27, 2015
People go into romantic relationships for various reasons. I think the main purpose of relationship is to complement the other person. It is more about what you can add than what you can get. If this is your idea of a relationship, then you need trust to make such a relationship work. The two people involved should put in the needed effort to earn each other trust. Don’t forget trust is the bedrock for building a strong and lasting relationship.

Here are 6 ways to build trust in a romantic relationship;

Be A True Confidant: There are certain things your partner may share with you that he/she does not want someone else to know about. Your partner expects you to keep such things just between the two of you. Also do not use those things as way of getting back at or attacking him or her anytime there’s argument between the two of you. These will only be seen as betrayal by your partner and nothing kills trust as fast as betrayal.....http://successflame.com/relationship/how-to-build-trust-in-a-romantic-relationship/

Family / How To Help Your Child Find The Right Career by aulmatro: 4:02pm On May 09, 2015
When it comes to finding the right career option for a child, parents have very important roles to play. I think what makes a career right is not just the salary but a sense of satisfaction that comes with it. Finding the right career then is majorly about figuring out the career that matches the specific qualities a child possesses.

Here are 5 things you should do to achieve that as a parent;

Let You Child Dream:As children began to experience life, they are likely going to start forming images of what they would love to do or become as adults. Your role as a parent is to create the right environment or exposure that can spur your child's creativity, expressiveness and imagination.

Ask your child what he or she would like to be as an adult. Ask significant questions that will reveal your child’s inner yearnings and desires. Don’t quickly disregard the answers...http://successflame.com/family-parenting/parenting-tips-5-things-your-child-needs-to-be-a-successful-adult/

Business / 8 Things That Can Stop You From Becoming Rich by aulmatro: 6:18pm On Apr 28, 2015
We all desire wealth and riches, however, being able to achieve this desire or not will greatly depend on what you do or fail to do. Financially successful people will tell you building wealth is not by accident. It is an accumulation of certain habits practiced over time. The Irony is that perpetual poverty is equally an accumulation of certain habits practiced over time. If you desire to be rich then you have to let go certain habits and orientations.

Here are 8 things you are doing that will likely stop you from becoming rich;

Wrong Attitude Towards Money: One of the things that can greatly hinder one’s success in anything is the wrong attitude. Today there are many ideas, beliefs and opinions that people have about money that are totally wrong. The fact is that your beliefs are your greatest limitations. What many believe about money is one thing that has kept them away from it. Some of these wrong ideas about money are;

• Money is the root of all evil.
• I'm not good with money, I just can’t keep it.
• Money is meant to be spent.
• More money creates more problems.
• Money is dirty.
• Only dishonest people get rich.
• The best way to wealth is to get a high paying job and work hard.
• Some are just destined to be poor.
• Money is for a selected few.

Your belief about money can either attract or repel it money depending on what you believe. The truth is that you cannot attract what your mind repels. To be rich you need to alter every wrong belief that you have about money. Clear your mind of such wrong beliefs. Think and talk abundance. When you are positive about money, it is attracted to you. Wealth does not begin with just what you do. It begins with what you think.

Jobs/Vacancies / 10 Things You Need To Do Just Before A Job Interview by aulmatro: 7:09pm On Apr 22, 2015
Every job seeker looks forward to getting an interview invitation. However, whether or not you get the job majorly depends on the outcome of the interview. And your success in any job interview depends on your preparation. Preparation includes taking care of the smallest but important details with regard to the interview. There are few important things that can be a huge determinant of your success in any job interview.

Here are 10 important things you need to do just before a job interview to increase your chances of getting the job;

Get the Relevant Details About Your Employer:
What are the objectives of the company? What does it produce or what service does it render? How was the organization doing last year, or this quarter? Who are their senior executives? When you get to know such information as these, it differentiates you from other candidates. It shows you have interest in the company and the idea of working with them.

Education / Why Students Fail To Graduate With Good Grades by aulmatro: 10:24am On Apr 17, 2015
There are many factors that can contribute to a student not graduating with good grade. Many of these factors may be beyond the control of the student.

However, from observation many students fail to graduate with good grades for reasons which can be traced directly to them. They knowingly or unknowingly plotted their own failure.

Here are 5 common ways many students jeopardize their chances of graduating with good grades;

Poor Start: It is said that the beginning of a thing matters. This is true if you aim to graduate with good grades. It has been observed that students who end up graduating with good grades are the ones that started putting the needed effort right from their first year.

Many think that they have plenty of time, so they use their first year to have “fun” only to realize how difficult it is to make up for what has been lost already.

Lack of Interest: For one reason or the other many students find themselves admitted to study a particular course they have no interest to study. Many of such students usually develop apathy for academic activities.

Some others take their academics with levity hoping they will change into a more preferable course one later (which may never happen). Only to wish they have been more serious later. Even if the course wasn’t what you opted for, take time to find out what the course is all about and its prospects. You never can tell, you may end up loving it more than your preferred course.

Religion / Awakening Your Spiritual Consciousness by aulmatro: 7:11pm On Apr 12, 2015
The life we live is spiritual. It will be therefore a flaw for anyone to go through live without spiritual consciousness.

Spiritual consciousness is living your life based on spiritual discernment, insight and revelation.
Have you ever stood on a long and straight road and stared at the distance far ahead of you? You will discover that the two rows of the track seem to eventually taper off and merge into one.

This phenomenon is what is referred to as optical illusion. This is responsible for the spiritual blindness and barrenness of many. They construct their lives based on the faulty testimony of their physical senses!

Why You Should Never Depend on Your Physical Senses

It has been proven that our senses can only perceive 3 dimensions; however there are limitless dimensions in the spiritual world to which you and I belong. When the Holy book says, “All things are possible,” it is not referring to our inadequate three dimensional thinking.

Our senses were never given for spiritual navigation and that’s why an uneducated fellow in the village can discover God while the erudite professor of philosophy cannot. That’s also why you can never “prove” God in a science. The witnesses of your physical eyes and ears will LIMIT your achievement and make your earthly journey miserable.

How Did We Come to Depend So much on Our Physical Senses?

Man was designed to daily receive revelation (knowledge beyond the senses) from his maker. In the Garden of Eden, man walked and talked with God. Before the fall of man, his spirit controls the other aspect (Body and Soul), until a time came when Adam the prime man went contrary to the instructions of his maker, he tampered with the “wrong stuff” and got his core make-up corrupted and went dead spiritually.
In compliance to the law of genesis (everything must bear after its own kind), he gave birth to spiritually dead Children. Since then, man started to depend much on their senses and as such became grossly limited in his perception.

Spark Up The Spirit

To become alive again, the human spirit requires “the spark of regeneration”. The un-regenerated heart remains dead, until the Life and Light giving power of the Holy Spirit floods it. This explains the Christian concept: “Born Again”. It is the resurrection of the spirit in man that was dead. One of the results of this experience is the ability to see or perceive beyond the senses (Though many “Christians” have little or no understanding about this). This is commonly referred to as revelation among the Christian folks.

Revelation is what happens when the Spirit reveals or teaches you a truth through “spiritual sense”. When such happens you just know that you know, even when there are no logical explanations or facts to back it up.

Are you a PRISONER of your senses?

The solution to your deepest problem does not always reside or spring from your physical senses and conscious mind. You’ll often have to dig beyond three dimensions and tap into revelation knowledge.

There are few qualities that can make you an exceptional employee . Your career growth and success will ultimately depend on whether or not you possess these qualities. Without these qualities you may never attain any remarkable growth in your career even if you have the skills and experience. These qualities are;

Passion: To perform well on your job, you need to love what you are doing. Employers can easily tell if you are passionate about what you do or not. This is the reason it pays to be involved in a job that you have passion for. When you love what you do, you’re sure to put in your best. Passionate people are also self-motivated which is one quality employers look out for in employees. A self-motivated person can take charge and act on his own initiative when the need arises.

Romance / How To Know If You Are In A Healthy Relationship by aulmatro: 6:36pm On Apr 09, 2015
Relationships are a necessary part of our existence. However, relationships can be healthy or unhealthy. Healthy relationships contribute to our overall well-being while an unhealthy relationship does the exact opposite. There are different things that point to whether a relationship is healthy or not. To tell if your relationship is healthy or not ask yourself these questions:

1. What does he/she bring out of me? The quality of your relationship revolves around what you become by it. How is the relationship impacting you? Note this is not about the other person forcing you to change who you already are. In a healthy relationship, you don’t feel forced to change who you are but rather inspired to make needed changes. In other words, it does not try to fix you but rather help you fix yourself. A true partner knows your weakness but shows you your strengths. Feels your fears, but fortifies your faith. Sees your anxieties, but frees your spirit. Recognizes your disability, but emphasizes your possibilities.

2. What does he/ she think of me? What your partner thinks of you really matters. It tells or determines the value he or she places in such a relationship. And we usually give quality attention and care to whatever we value. Does he/she see you as a plus in his/her life? Relationship works when it involves mutual contribution. If your partner does not...http://successflame.com/relationship/how-to-know-if-you-are-in-a-healthy-relationship/
