I will love to know more about this cataluyans politicians that were imprisoned though. Cause the main man leading the cataluyans call for independence in 2017 was Carles Puigdemont. He fled to Belgium and an European arrest warrant was placed on his head.

He won re-election in cataluyan and I have not heard of any European country deporting him back to Spain to face any case of rebellion before the rebellion charges were eventually dropped by the Spanish government.

The over Sabi man for here talk say all cataluyans talk say all cataluyans leaders ended up in prison afterward, I hope you will tell me when Puigdemont was imprisoned.

See as the rubb!sh !diot dey even talk of USA.

If the USA is been run the way Nigeria is been run, there won't be peace in th USA.

Let's look at a state like Georgia that passed a law that states that if there are some certain types of intervention by the US federal government in the state, without getting the authorisation of the state, the constitution establishing the United States government would be considered nullified and the union would be dissolved.
Out of the 44 people that voted, 43 voted in favour of the law.

Over here, the Vegetable just woke up and close the border all over the country because he wants us to increase our agriculture production. A 25KG bag of rice is more than 50% of the national minimum wage.

Nothing meaningful will be achieved in this constitutional review the NA is doing.

If Oil is located in my backyard now, One idiot for Abuja go tell me say my land don become Government land. No American will accept such bullshit.

Even the Spanish and English give cataluyans and Scottish a lot of free hands. But over here, let's try regional or state police, IGP go start lamenting say we never ready. When actually we wan ready sef

There was a reason the founding fathers agreed to the constitution we were using before aguyi Ironsi came in, even in that constitution, military taking over was frowned upon, but the Nigerian Military took over. This constitution was made and agreed on by people that were representing the 3 geopolitical region of Nigeria. Not the one A General dey appoint people wey he like or the one done by GEJ were he was choosing people himself.

US has federal lands too, resources there in are administered by the FG alone. get your facts right.

US FG can close any border in the US without the approval of states

1963 republican constitution was not agreed the way you said it, infact it is 90% carryover of the British independence constitution of 1960, the only change was the paradigm shift from parliamentary to presidential systems of government, every other thing remained the same, yet it caused serious problems till it was abolished in 1966, infact that disaster was the shortest constitution Nigeria has ever had, why will you want to go back to it? read more on this subject pls.

Please stop been foolish on top my mention all the time you d0g. Where in my post did I mention the USA you piece of sh!t angry

Did the Scottish held referendum or not in the UK? Stop crying all over my mention all the t!me you p!g.

Are Scottish and Cataluyans been shot dead all over the UK and Spain?

I go talk A, your useless sef go dey talk B.
I no like make f00lish people dey quote me, if you choose to always quote my post upside down, I go just dey snub your foolish talks and just swipe pass it.

Under David Cameron, the Scottish were granted the opportunity to leave or stay in the UK.

Eritrea left Ethiopia through the use of the gun, South Sudan left Sudan through the use of the gun.

You're busy here talking about the US civil war as if your useless papa sef dey around when it was fought. Make US FG try claim oil wells located offshore in Texas as a FG Government resource make you see as e go end you dumbfvck!

ESN is now an armed group, Nnamdi Kanu told people to sit at home yesterday, and people sit at home, no state government institution functioned in the South East yesterday.

I go still blame Nnamdi Azikiwe for all this long talk though. If only he had agreed to a seccesion clause in the constitution, we won't be here today.

There have been just 3 referendums in the History of UK over 300yrs that means Scotland got a deal of a lifetime in 2016.
Eritrea did not gain independence through the gun in as much as they fought a battle of independence, the later was ratified by a UN supervised referendum, read about the Eritrean independence referendum. They managed to win that war because USSR ceased support for Ethiopia.
speaking of independence through the gun, Anzawad republic defeated the government of Mali in a battle of independence, UNSC refused to recognize the new government but the defeated one, all the countries mobilized including Nigeria to flush them out.

Taiwan defeated China in their independence battle but the league of nations refused to recognize it, the point here is that defeating Nigeria is not a guarantee Biafra will come, if Ecowas, AU & UN doesn't recognize your victory, you just wasted your time.

South Sudan didnt get independence through the barrel, after their never ending wars, the country became official with a UN supervised referendum because the war naturally divided the country, after the new country was born, they returned to war for other reasons, of what use was the independence?

As an igbo person, it is better to start the struggle at the international level than disturbing Nigeria locally Kanu doesn't know what he is doing.
he is putting the cart before the horse.
Get international support, get military allies, then you come home to fight, Ojukwu made the same mistake right? France started helping Ojukwu late in the war.

We hear. You came late to know the underlying matter. Perhaps you were a toddler then I guess or not even born in 1983/84 to get the point here save what you read or was told and that depending on who was doing the talking and recommending the textbook you read. The crux of contention is that Nigeria is in shambles.

In lay mans language a recession is when the economy is doing badly which means when there is economic decline in trade and industrial activity in a given period. For which I inferred that the current poor economic indices reflects same pattern and trends in the first coming of Muhammadu Buhari to power as Military Head of State and Head of the Supreme Military Council (SMC) - a small cabal of men same as today.

In all the years you indicated up there none warranted Nigerians to be queuing up for bread and milk something that happened under Muhammadu Buhari in the 80's and now got worse with suicides owing to the economic hardship in the land. I could go on to punch the numbers of his first rule after taking power and now after he took power in 2015 but only if you force me to and only the blind will deny the similarities.

The point I am making is simple and a little cognitive effort will help comprehend that leopards don't change their spots. So Buhari's inflexibility and stubbornness to listen to reason means there will be no dramatic change to the fortunes of the Nigerian people with him sitting in office as President & C-in-C in Aso Rock 2019.

The man himself confesses that he has no answers to the economy and his only response is to manage what is already there showing you the man is bereft of the idea that one reason one is elected to office is to create wealth. That is lost on him and his many town criers else no one in his sensible mind will vote him twice.

"Recession" is recession, "underelying matter" is what it is, I wont take your underlying matter analysis seriously when you mixed up the real dates of the recession, it doesn't show depth nor content.

You don't even want me to take you on the economic challenges of the 80's, I have known since I joined this forum that Nigeria has the highest number of individuals saying what they have no clue about especially in public, thats embarrassing.

A helicopter of the Nigerian Air Force deployed for attack in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents has gone missing in action, with fears that the aircraft had crashed at a yet-to-be-ascertained location.

The NAF confirmed the missing aircraft in a release around 10.30pm on Wednesday, noting that the helicopter was lost in combat while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno State.

Using a helicopter for close air support is not ideal, perhaps because the Tucanos are yet to arrive.

Tell us something new. Buhari's failure to heed sound economic advice all but made that recession a reality to the Nigerian people in 1983 something Shagari's stabilization program would have corrected. His intransigent approach to governance is the point here.
In economics the signals you send out makes or mars.

The recession history of Nigeria is a rule of thumb for every sound economist.
It goes as follows; 1987, 1991, 1995 and 2016.
Stop manufacturing recession in your head.

Its impossible to believe the rantings on this page without providing figures. Henry did. Pls can you support your argument with present day realities.

Information and disinformation are tools some of us work with for a living and mister your present love affair with the current government seems to blur your sights to the facts others see on ground.

Economists look at indices quarterly from different sectors of an economy to measure growth or inflation and project outcomes after performance in a given cycle. So I'd rather ask questions and if you can't answer them with proof then you are on what we call voodoo economics.

1. What was the inflation rate under President Goodluck Jonathan and what is it now?

2. What was the exchange rate to the dollar in 2015 and what is it now?

I have other questions but let's just do with what I call kitchen table economics no grammar. Answer me.

If you can not explain using economic indices why your inflation & exchange rates are higher now than last 4yrs then you shouldn't be here.
It will do you a lot of good looking at the national indices not your pocket.

Erdogan is trying to expand his countries borders as a first step towards re-establishing the old ottoman empire , a caliphate. It will open the Pandora's box .

Im not sure if you are aware the former Ottoman empire stretched to North Africa, how on earth can Erdogan restore it? What you said is not a fact but petty speculation.

Secondary aim is to get Turkey into a position geographically which will allow them to excercise control of land route of oil and gas into Europe from the middle East. And thereby have Europe at their mercy.

Turkey is in Euro asia, Erdogan already has the Bosphorus does it make sense fighting for what he already has? Turkey has the Armenia and Georgian land corridors, Syria makes no real difference in that regards, besides, what makes you think Erdogan will be crazy to compete with the Russian energy monopoly in Europe?
Thats a suicide mission. Another speculation.

As for Afghanistan , Pakistan wants it to be under its control via Taliban because of the strategic depth it offers them. Pakistan geographically has zero depth only around 700 kms from ind... border , which puts their military at risk from Ind.... assaults , nowhere to retreat their planes and other assets from Ind.... artillery , missile , airborne strikes.

Explain why the same Pakistan is building a border wall on the same corridor you claim they want to control?
Read
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/pakistan-building-fence-along-border-afghanistan-n873291
Again you are speculating absent facts.

Also the validity of Durand line , international border seperating Pakistan and Afghanistan has expired , thereby opening FATA , and wazaristan to be reclaimed back by Afghanistan

Irrelevant.

Pakistan are building fence along fata and wazaristan border with Afghanistan not to stop terrorists but in a effort to counter possible Afghanistan claim to their territories.

Again you are speculating without facts read again why they are building the wall.
https://www.voanews.com/a/pakistan-builds-afghan-border-fence/4077234.html
The territory has been in dispute for a long time, the issue is why are they building the fence? nobody is contesting whether or not the border is in dispute.

Also from where does taliban gets its weapons and ammo resupply ?

How does Taliban manage to breach NATO tatics , unless people familiar with the tactics r coordinating the offensive.

Read my previous post to understanding, you will definitely come across where I explained how the Taliban got help.

Haqqani founding father and mentor is isi , do you want a list of their leaders inside Pakistan ? Some r inside paramilitary / military residential complexes which cant be targeted even by US drones .

If Taliban comes to power what will happen to the hardened terrorists , they will lay down their arms ? Or get a new cause to fight eg the Ind.... like in the 90s. And if any such thing happens war is guaranteed be it convention or nuclear.

US is primarily accusing the ISI of negligence viz her inability to stem the flow of supplies through the border, if you read with understanding, you would have deduced with common sense that for supplies to move from point A to B, the actors are on both sides of the divide, dont read to argue, read to understand.

Also if Afghanistan falls to Taliban whole central Asia will see a upsurge in terrorism , do you even know what is happening in the Central Asian countries bordering Afghanistan ?

You make some funny comments, who controlled Afghan in the 80's after the Mujahedeens ousted USSR?

and if Erdogan gets together his merry band of terrorists from the different groups and gains control of Syrian territories , over a period of time those areas will become a launch pad for terrorism all over middle East and Africa
.

Erdogan like every other regional power iinfluence one group or the other in Syria, Obama worked with Takfri fighters and FSA, Trump worked with the Kurds, Iran Hezbollah, so is Qatar & Russia, so whoever Erdogan is supporting is immaterial, the point I made up there if you read to understanding is that the fall out of any blow out from Turkey's support group is more of Turkey's problem than the US. Hence the US decision to let Turkey run things.

Why do you thinks Europeans don't prosecute terrorists returning back from Syria Iraq etc ?

Because they r a leverage to ensure their own safety as well as have the necessary assets / control incase they feel any country is ripe for any future Arab springs.

Personal opinion not facts, Benjamin Herman radicalized by Isis returnees in prison was jailed later killed, Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud returnee jailed, the only issue is getting evidence of their individual acts stalling their prosecution.
Your leaverage opinion is mere speculation.

USA withdrawing / cutting down troops should not be compared to withdrawing from the war perse. They r simply maneuvering to draw certain countries to the same trap ( quagmire ) into which they ended up in the first place.

Apparently, you didn't bother to read where I said the US wants to hand it over to regional powers at the receiving end of the threat they pose.
I know the post was pretty long, doesn't mean you won't read it properly if you are interested.

BIG LIES popping.

I keep saying the median IQ in Nigeria is low that is why people pass on FALSEHOOD like a relay race.. They told you Buhari caused recession twice and you just brainlessly repeated it.
What is a "recession" and what does the word "cause" mean?. A recession is three quarters of negative GDP growth and it is usually not caused by the administration voted in to solve the problem.

2014 recession cause = PDP (Goodluck Jonathan)

Buhari caused no recession in 1983.
NPN caused the recession of 1983.
No knowledgeable person is denying it. We were saddled with short term debt by NPN looters and suddenly oil price came down to $9 a barrel. Banks were not honouring our L/Cs. One NPN minister (Umaru Dikko) was responsible for bringing imported rice into Nigeria in a value equal to the entire foreign exchange earnings for 6 months.

All petroleum exporting countries felt the shock of oil price crash . The situation that caused 1983 economic recession for Nigeria was the same as in we saw in 2014 - an import dependent economy, a weak and stupid President in power, looting by members of the ruling party and BOOM.. poverty.

1983 recession cause = NPN (Shehu Shagari)

Nigeria has an economy dependent on one international product. That is the problem.
We know Buhari has improved AGRO exports by 300% and is bringing down rice imports.
What will also help is massive INFRASTRUCTURE construction being done that will not only improve internal economic efficiency but also bring service sector jobs. Railways, their terminals and connecting transportation is a good example of service sector jobs. The great danger us that technology is wiping out jobs globally. All jobs are under threat.
If you want to solve Nigeria's problem, do public infrastructure and get a lot of small holders doing farming.

Atiku and his crooked/scared shitless team (They are all owing banks or have EFCC cases) don't just have a clue.

If I build a factory today, it will take 10 times LESS manpower than three years ago. Technology is wiping out jobs fast.Jobs are dying. Jobs are dying. Jobs are dying. Get your heads screwed on right.

For you office bound, semi idle, non innovative urban dwelling middle class, your problems are many and it is NOT Buhari.
You need paradigm shift.
Artificial Iintelligence is here and your job will disappear. Not may dusappear, WILL DISAPPEAR.
It is not an insidious threat. It will suddenly happen and the global billionaires pouring money into the Industry 4.0 technologies, AI, et.c don't give a damn that you were too weak to feed yourselves under PDP or run your scrappy refineries.

THERE IS A LARGER, MORE OMINOUS GLOBAL CONTEXT THAT WILL DEVELOP BETWEEN 2021 UPWARDS.

I see nothing in PDP manifesto about re-skilling, about small holder agric, small holder AGRO processing, renewable energy. They want to repeat the mistake of 2010 in 2019. It will hurt.

Everybody use your head. We are already seeing that tradesmen - auto mechanics, electricians and plumbers are doing better than office-based, fixed income pen pushers who can no longer steal money due to Buhari reforms but from 2021, even that your job is going.

A courageous, truth seeking person eill see that all Buhari is doing is setting the economy on a sound footing with some temporary hardship. He himself has admitted that there is hardship. My addition to that is whoever taught you there is progress without hardship has destroyed your life.

There was no recession in Nigeria in 1983

i wouldn't agree more!......but my point is....we're only eliminating BHTs, not the ideology that's the problem

There was a period Alqaeda was bold enough to strike on American soil, has that happened again? Do you think the Alqaeda ideology has died? Did the Americans negotiate? Your logic is pitiable, to even think of negotiating with radicals to the extent of conceding territories to them? Are you ok?

If you do that, Nigeria will become a hub for cladestine lunatics, its just a matter of time before foreign powers will use Nigeria as a weapons testing ground, if in doubt ask Somalia.
do you sincerely believe you can coexist with extremists under any circumstances? Where in the world has that happened to think it will work, can you live in a country where you are constantly woken up by US or Nato drone strikes because you chose to coexist with terror? do you think the global powers will give a fvck about you after you have made such asinine decision, ask Abbottabad residents how well they fared on the eve of operation neptune spear.

Your suggestion has a replica in Lebanon where the Lebanese government sought political compromise ( in your words) with Hezbolla, at first they grabbed Southern Lebanon, in 2006 they struck Israel from there, what happened next,? the whole of Lebanon was embroiled into a full blow war with a regional power, ask Lebanon what happened to their economy and way of life for that mistake, today, Hezbollah has taken over the Lebanese parliament, the prime minister answers to Hezbollah first before the central government, it didn't end there, with their Iranian alliance, they are exporting fighters to Syria, now imagine if Syria was strong enough, Syria has every legal right to declare war on Hezbollah, Lebanon by extension.
As a matter of fact, no Lebanese dares contest election against a Hezbollah candidate, if you think about it, you are dead the next morning and there is absolutely nothing the central government can do to help you, they are practically a sitting duck government.

If you give ISWAP a political solution in the NE, its just a matter of time, they will fvck with Cameroon or Chad, what do you think will be the French response and how will Nigeria fare by extension? your suggestion is evil.

Your logic on why the US decided to leave Afghanistan and Iraq is hugely misinformed.
Whatever is left of ISIS is more a Turkish problem than a US problem, the US presence has made it difficult for Turkey to act the way it should considering that the Kurdish US allies are equally Turkish enemies based on their affiliation with the PKK.
All the US needs is a deal with Turkey to protect the Kurds, if the US wants or they could base their actions on the defiance of the Kurds for the referendum that nearly truncated the war against ISIL leave them to their fate with Turkey.

In Afghanistan, just like Turkey, Pakistan wants to act but US presence won't allow them, the new resurgence of the Afghan Taliban is a direct consequence of the cross border assistance they are getting from the Haqqani rebels, with the US aids sanction on Pakistan in place and a new leadership in place, Pakistan is willing to build that border wall and conduct air strikes on the Haqqani rebels in and out of Afghanistan. So the US has just modified their foreign policy to allow the regional powers take care of their regional problems.

As a contingency plan, the US is considering foisting on both countries (Iraq & Afghanistan ) pro west leaders to protect their interests so their military presence will no longer be necessary.

Back home, Trump the braggadocio wants to give the impression he was the dude that wrapped up those operations that exposed over 7k troops to score a political re-election point, thats the part that didn't go down well with Jim mattis that led to his resignation.

Nigeria just needs to show seriousness, most Nigerians don't even know we are at war, both the political and military top brass should do just that, it won't kill the ideology however it will degrade the insurgence to the point they pose no real threat to anyone, over time, they will fizzle out or hold their peace, thats where Nigeria is screwing up.

Since the US and France have been helping Chad, Niger and Cameroon with intelligence, ISWAP barely attacks them like they do us, what does that tell you? The ideology died? Hell no!! But the consequences of insurgency is replied with the fear of God, the later is what Nigeria is not doing because of lack of seriousness.

When the president asks the National Assembly for money for the military, an !diot in Agbada aka Senator will say no, they want it for elections, thats the unseriousness im talking about, or when the Tucano was paid for from the ECA, the same agbada !diots strated an impeachment probe, or the president that ring fenced his ears with service chiefs that can't tell him the truth. Im sure someone like Burantai will be hailing him sai baba in security council meetings when men are dying in the field, remove these bottle necks then see how ISIS will relocate their Ideology to Somalia.

Politics / Re: 2019 Budget Is Built On A Very Shaky Foundation – Atiku Mock Buhari by Aura2(f): 6:11pm On Dec 23, 2018
babecode:

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says the proposed budget of the Muhammadu Buhari administration for 2019 is built on a ‘shaky foundation’.

“The proposed budget as presented is fundamentally flawed,” said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “It deliberately ignores and fails to address current realities and pretends, as Mr President asserts, ‘we are on the right direction.”

He added, “On the contrary, the 2019 budget is built on a very shaky foundation and makes very generous, often wild and untenable assumptions which pose significant risks to its implementation.”

The former vice president believes it will be a disservice to the nation if the “fundamental flaws” are ignored.

He accused the Presidency of filling the budget proposal with several inaccurate claims and making attempts to hide its failure to improve the welfare and living standards of Nigerians.

“I see the rhetoric of ‘inclusive, diversified and sustainable growth’ as no more than an amplification of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government’s renewed propaganda to hoodwink the citizens into believing that there is ‘light at the end of the tunnel,” Atiku alleged.

According to him, the economy has yet to recover from the 2016/2017 recession as it remains “severely stressed, extremely fragile and vulnerable to external shocks.”

The PDP candidate said the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth declined from 2.11 per cent in 2017 to 1.9 per cent in Q1, and to 1.5 per cent in Q2 of 2018.

He, however, noted an increase of 0.3 per cent to 1.8 per cent in Q3 of 2018.

“In reality, Mr President should expect no less. It is a fact that under his watch and resulting from his actions or inactions, investor confidence in the economy has waned like never before in Nigeria’s history,” Atiku alleged.

He added, “Nigeria remains an uncompetitive economy as demonstrated by the recent World Economic Forum (WEF), Global Competitiveness Index which positions Nigeria as 115th of 140 Countries.

“The Report shows that Nigeria has moved three places down, contrary to Mr President’s claim that ‘we are moving in the right direction’. Nigeria remains one of the most difficult places to do business as evidenced by the massive outflows of capital in recent times.”

On the way forward, the former vice president called for an alternative to the government’s budget proposal.

The country, according to him, needs a government which understands how to run the economy in order to get it working again.

Atiku stressed that his administration has the capacity and experience Nigeria needed to get on the right path.

He said, “For the avoidance of doubt, an Atiku Presidency, come 2019, will present to Nigerians a people’s budget that will prioritise and focus on the twin challenges of unemployment and poverty.”

“Nigeria’s high rates of unemployment, poverty and inequality represent both a significant distortion in the economic system and a lost opportunity for critical national development and could potentially threaten social stability.”

Most times concessions are made in the form of ;
1) staying of the tempo of operations
2) cash
3) prisoner exchange

Now what bites me is how we can't track this people after their dropoff to wherever they hide. Perhaps they are quite mobile, viruses tend to adapt

Bendel Republic? Now I know the outcome of their meeting with that misguided Kanu. He has finally dragged them into the dreamland.

After Ankio Briggs visit to Kanu, she started singing Niger delta republic and now this? who knows, there is a stake that is about to go round, i only pity their supporters who will be met with fire and fury in the worlds of DT

I think one of these noise makers should try and declare a republic first, if they can withstand the heat, then others will learn from their experience, since the price of crude crashed, every governor is sponsoring miscreants to heat up the polity, does this senile group have a clue how much problems that 1963 constitution created for us?
Once the politicians are looking for money, they are bereft of logical reasoning, which country in the world practises true federalism?

Long Overdue.

This Country will regain its lost path of fulfilment and economic dominance once we have healthy competition among regions/states other than all waiting for the insufficient allocation from FG to loot.

God bless Nigeria!

At what point did you buy this nonsense from politicians? A state that cant compete with federal allocations cant in resource control.
Politicians are selling the usual "try us and see" rhetoric.

lightblazingnow:
For over two weeks now most parts of River State have been flooded with residents fleeing their homes and offices for the fear of overflowing waters. From the information gathered, the water keep rising everyday..

This morning at Eneka town off lovers road, Rumuowha district, a motorist was spotted washing his car right in the middle of the water..

Nigeria shall, all things are possible with them.. I took these pictures this morning..

And I want this news spread to the attention of the River State government to come to rescue of its people.. because people are suffering. Imagine you vacating your home and belongings to only God knows place. Becoming a burden to someone who isn't expecting you...

Please Nairaland do the needful and help the helpless River's residents who are hopeless and frightened by the ever rising waters

Take a look please

Please do the needful..

Governor Wike please come to our rescue please ooo
Thanks

Eneka where the Ikwerre man sells streets and drainages. You know, I never knew that why there are street closes in PH a lot is because people sell streets, grin, something that is unfathomable in most parts of the country, sell a street?

Tell me that job in this country which you can leave for three months and not get sacked. And mind you, we voted for Buhari as the president not Osinbajo as the Acting president.

How long is a Maternity leave in Government establishments?
