DubaiLandLord: US has federal lands too, resources there in are administered by the FG alone. get your facts right. US FG can close any border in the US without the approval of states 1963 republican constitution was not agreed the way you said it, infact it is 90% carryover of the British independence constitution of 1960, the only change was the paradigm shift from parliamentary to presidential systems of government, every other thing remained the same, yet it caused serious problems till it was abolished in 1966, infact that disaster was the shortest constitution Nigeria has ever had, why will you want to go back to it? read more on this subject pls. 3 Likes |

DubaiLandLord: There have been just 3 referendums in the History of UK over 300yrs that means Scotland got a deal of a lifetime in 2016. Eritrea did not gain independence through the gun in as much as they fought a battle of independence, the later was ratified by a UN supervised referendum, read about the Eritrean independence referendum. They managed to win that war because USSR ceased support for Ethiopia. speaking of independence through the gun, Anzawad republic defeated the government of Mali in a battle of independence, UNSC refused to recognize the new government but the defeated one, all the countries mobilized including Nigeria to flush them out. Taiwan defeated China in their independence battle but the league of nations refused to recognize it, the point here is that defeating Nigeria is not a guarantee Biafra will come, if Ecowas, AU & UN doesn't recognize your victory, you just wasted your time. South Sudan didnt get independence through the barrel, after their never ending wars, the country became official with a UN supervised referendum because the war naturally divided the country, after the new country was born, they returned to war for other reasons, of what use was the independence? As an igbo person, it is better to start the struggle at the international level than disturbing Nigeria locally Kanu doesn't know what he is doing. he is putting the cart before the horse. Get international support, get military allies, then you come home to fight, Ojukwu made the same mistake right? France started helping Ojukwu late in the war. my 2 cents 4 Likes 1 Share |

You don't even want me to take you on the economic challenges of the 80's, I have known since I joined this forum that Nigeria has the highest number of individuals saying what they have no clue about especially in public, thats embarrassing. 2 Likes |

[quote author=nemesis8u post=74336987] Erdogan is trying to expand his countries borders as a first step towards re-establishing the old ottoman empire , a caliphate. It will open the Pandora's box . Im not sure if you are aware the former Ottoman empire stretched to North Africa, how on earth can Erdogan restore it? What you said is not a fact but petty speculation.
Turkey is in Euro asia, Erdogan already has the Bosphorus does it make sense fighting for what he already has? Turkey has the Armenia and Georgian land corridors, Syria makes no real difference in that regards, besides, what makes you think Erdogan will be crazy to compete with the Russian energy monopoly in Europe? Thats a suicide mission. Another speculation. As for Afghanistan , Pakistan wants it to be under its control via Taliban because of the strategic depth it offers them. Pakistan geographically has zero depth only around 700 kms from ind... border , which puts their military at risk from Ind.... assaults , nowhere to retreat their planes and other assets from Ind.... artillery , missile , airborne strikes. Explain why the same Pakistan is building a border wall on the same corridor you claim they want to control? Read https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/pakistan-building-fence-along-border-afghanistan-n873291 Again you are speculating absent facts. Also the validity of Durand line , international border seperating Pakistan and Afghanistan has expired , thereby opening FATA , and wazaristan to be reclaimed back by Afghanistan Irrelevant. Pakistan are building fence along fata and wazaristan border with Afghanistan not to stop terrorists but in a effort to counter possible Afghanistan claim to their territories. Again you are speculating without facts read again why they are building the wall. https://www.voanews.com/a/pakistan-builds-afghan-border-fence/4077234.html The territory has been in dispute for a long time, the issue is why are they building the fence? nobody is contesting whether or not the border is in dispute. Also from where does taliban gets its weapons and ammo resupply ? Read my previous post to understanding, you will definitely come across where I explained how the Taliban got help. Haqqani founding father and mentor is isi , do you want a list of their leaders inside Pakistan ? Some r inside paramilitary / military residential complexes which cant be targeted even by US drones . US is primarily accusing the ISI of negligence viz her inability to stem the flow of supplies through the border, if you read with understanding, you would have deduced with common sense that for supplies to move from point A to B, the actors are on both sides of the divide, dont read to argue, read to understand.
You make some funny comments, who controlled Afghan in the 80's after the Mujahedeens ousted USSR? . Erdogan like every other regional power iinfluence one group or the other in Syria, Obama worked with Takfri fighters and FSA, Trump worked with the Kurds, Iran Hezbollah, so is Qatar & Russia, so whoever Erdogan is supporting is immaterial, the point I made up there if you read to understanding is that the fall out of any blow out from Turkey's support group is more of Turkey's problem than the US. Hence the US decision to let Turkey run things. Why do you thinks Europeans don't prosecute terrorists returning back from Syria Iraq etc ? Personal opinion not facts, Benjamin Herman radicalized by Isis returnees in prison was jailed later killed, Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud returnee jailed, the only issue is getting evidence of their individual acts stalling their prosecution. Your leaverage opinion is mere speculation. USA withdrawing / cutting down troops should not be compared to withdrawing from the war perse. They r simply maneuvering to draw certain countries to the same trap ( quagmire ) into which they ended up in the first place. Apparently, you didn't bother to read where I said the US wants to hand it over to regional powers at the receiving end of the threat they pose. I know the post was pretty long, doesn't mean you won't read it properly if you are interested. 1 Like |

lebuhsi: There was a period Alqaeda was bold enough to strike on American soil, has that happened again? Do you think the Alqaeda ideology has died? Did the Americans negotiate? Your logic is pitiable, to even think of negotiating with radicals to the extent of conceding territories to them? Are you ok? If you do that, Nigeria will become a hub for cladestine lunatics, its just a matter of time before foreign powers will use Nigeria as a weapons testing ground, if in doubt ask Somalia. do you sincerely believe you can coexist with extremists under any circumstances? Where in the world has that happened to think it will work, can you live in a country where you are constantly woken up by US or Nato drone strikes because you chose to coexist with terror? do you think the global powers will give a fvck about you after you have made such asinine decision, ask Abbottabad residents how well they fared on the eve of operation neptune spear. Your suggestion has a replica in Lebanon where the Lebanese government sought political compromise ( in your words) with Hezbolla, at first they grabbed Southern Lebanon, in 2006 they struck Israel from there, what happened next,? the whole of Lebanon was embroiled into a full blow war with a regional power, ask Lebanon what happened to their economy and way of life for that mistake, today, Hezbollah has taken over the Lebanese parliament, the prime minister answers to Hezbollah first before the central government, it didn't end there, with their Iranian alliance, they are exporting fighters to Syria, now imagine if Syria was strong enough, Syria has every legal right to declare war on Hezbollah, Lebanon by extension. As a matter of fact, no Lebanese dares contest election against a Hezbollah candidate, if you think about it, you are dead the next morning and there is absolutely nothing the central government can do to help you, they are practically a sitting duck government. If you give ISWAP a political solution in the NE, its just a matter of time, they will fvck with Cameroon or Chad, what do you think will be the French response and how will Nigeria fare by extension? your suggestion is evil. Your logic on why the US decided to leave Afghanistan and Iraq is hugely misinformed. Whatever is left of ISIS is more a Turkish problem than a US problem, the US presence has made it difficult for Turkey to act the way it should considering that the Kurdish US allies are equally Turkish enemies based on their affiliation with the PKK. All the US needs is a deal with Turkey to protect the Kurds, if the US wants or they could base their actions on the defiance of the Kurds for the referendum that nearly truncated the war against ISIL leave them to their fate with Turkey. In Afghanistan, just like Turkey, Pakistan wants to act but US presence won't allow them, the new resurgence of the Afghan Taliban is a direct consequence of the cross border assistance they are getting from the Haqqani rebels, with the US aids sanction on Pakistan in place and a new leadership in place, Pakistan is willing to build that border wall and conduct air strikes on the Haqqani rebels in and out of Afghanistan. So the US has just modified their foreign policy to allow the regional powers take care of their regional problems. As a contingency plan, the US is considering foisting on both countries (Iraq & Afghanistan ) pro west leaders to protect their interests so their military presence will no longer be necessary. Back home, Trump the braggadocio wants to give the impression he was the dude that wrapped up those operations that exposed over 7k troops to score a political re-election point, thats the part that didn't go down well with Jim mattis that led to his resignation. Nigeria just needs to show seriousness, most Nigerians don't even know we are at war, both the political and military top brass should do just that, it won't kill the ideology however it will degrade the insurgence to the point they pose no real threat to anyone, over time, they will fizzle out or hold their peace, thats where Nigeria is screwing up. Since the US and France have been helping Chad, Niger and Cameroon with intelligence, ISWAP barely attacks them like they do us, what does that tell you? The ideology died? Hell no!! But the consequences of insurgency is replied with the fear of God, the later is what Nigeria is not doing because of lack of seriousness. When the president asks the National Assembly for money for the military, an !diot in Agbada aka Senator will say no, they want it for elections, thats the unseriousness im talking about, or when the Tucano was paid for from the ECA, the same agbada !diots strated an impeachment probe, or the president that ring fenced his ears with service chiefs that can't tell him the truth. Im sure someone like Burantai will be hailing him sai baba in security council meetings when men are dying in the field, remove these bottle necks then see how ISIS will relocate their Ideology to Somalia. 10 Likes |

I think one of these noise makers should try and declare a republic first, if they can withstand the heat, then others will learn from their experience, since the price of crude crashed, every governor is sponsoring miscreants to heat up the polity, does this senile group have a clue how much problems that 1963 constitution created for us?
