Travel / Nigerian Made Boats That Lagos Government Wants To Buy (Photos) by AutoReportNG: 9:56am On Nov 14, 2019
Lagos State government has assured local boat builders of patronage, not only to strengthen the economy but to enhance interest in water transportation and decongest the roads in line with the vision of making water transportation one of the best alternatives to road travel.

The Managing Director, Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY), Mr. Abdoulbaq Ladi-Balogun gave the assurance during an inspection tour of two major boat factories, V-Craft and Sierra Craft, in Lagos State on Monday.

He affirmed the government's commitment to efficient water transportation system, saying LAGFERRY has been mandated to identify and patronise local builders who have the capacity to build and adhere strictly to international standard practises.

“We want to build an eco-system and ensure everybody is carried along in achieving the multi-modal transportation initiative of the present administration to decongest the roads, so any manufacturer that meets our criteria will be patronised. We want to encourage local investors, particularly those that have an interest in water transportation to patronise the manufacturers of these boats”, he stated.

While disclosing the State government's intention to roll out commercial ferry services in the next couple of weeks, Ladi-Balogun assured Lagosians of a new experience in water transportation driven by the latest technology and built on safety, reliability, efficient services, comfort and value for money.

Responding, the Managing Director, Sierra Craft, Mr Olusegun Jaji expressed delight at the interest of the State government in developing local water transportation, especially with assurances to local builders that they would enjoy government patronage, expressing his delight at this administration’s commitment to improving and increasing water transportation.

He asserted his company's capability of producing and delivering world-class boats of international standard as required by the State government, maintaining that industry players are also ready to key into the vision of the present administration to improve water transportation as a means of decongesting the heavy traffic situation on Lagos roads.

I think some people are blowing this out of proportion. What is wrong in reducing the cost of government. The real question is what is Osinbajo (a vice president) doing with 80+ aids! Is it national assembly!
I understand that Mr Buhari (he's not my president) is undermining the VP but if we want to put sentiment aside and look at this critically, having 85 aids is too much for one man!
I know it's none of my business since they are not paying them directly from my account but anything to take food off the tables of some pot belly thieves will always look good to me!

The fact is, they people blowing this out of proportion are the Sacked aids. They are seeking public sympathy using Osinbajo as a tool.

Well, according to VPs office most of these aides are not paid from the FG account, they are funded and paid by donors which means FG do not pay them or are they on their government payroll... I will send the link when I see it

Politics / Presidency Confirms Sacking Of Osinbajo’s Aides by AutoReportNG: 4:04pm On Nov 08, 2019
BUHARI, OSINBAJO WILL, TOGETHER, SCRIPT A GLORIOUS FUTURE FOR NIGERIA

The Presidency wishes to confirm that there is, on-going, an unprecedented overhaul of the nation’s seat of government, arising from which a number of political appointments have either been revoked or not renewed in the Second Term.

The exercise, which has been ordered by the President, is to streamline decision-making, cut down multiple authorities and reduce the cost of administration.

It is also an appropriate response to the general perception that the Presidency has an oversized and bloated workforce which acts as a drag on efficiency.

As may have been noticed by discerning members of the public, a number of political appointees among the few that served in the office of the President were not returned for the Second Term.

The office of the Vice President, His Excellency Yemi Osinbajo has, in compliance with the directive of the President, equally been shed of a number of such appointees.

In carrying out these exercises, the overriding objective is to save taxpayer money and deliver needed service to the public. As far as the President is concerned, there is no scope for an excuse for administration after getting a huge mandate to run the country for four more years.

In the light of this, the Presidency wishes to strongly deny rumours of a rift between President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The relationship between the two leaders remains excellent and trusting. Together, they will script a glorious future for the nation.

The media reports of a soured relationship are originating from the minds and mouths of mischief makers, who are desperate for entertaining stories from the Aso Rock Villa with which to titillate the public. This ulterior motive is the basis of the wrong interpretation given to the recent exercise in the Presidency.

There has been a streamlining of staff going on for a while. The President has always had fewer staff than the Vice President, and there were always plans to reduce the number of staff at the Villa.

The streamlining was not personal or targeted to undermine the Vice President's office, as the so-called insider sources quoted by the media appear to make it seem.

The President is in absolute control of his government. The media should stop attributing non-existent powers to some people. There cannot be anyone too powerful for President Buhari to control.

Nigerians are an amazing set of people you can ever see, work or even predict! Predict their next line of thought and you will be disappointed. A rare type of car was spotted around Surulere axis in Lagos State. Surulere is an urban area which has close boundaries with areas like Mile 2, Eric Moore among others.

The car was spotted all be wrapped up in a green carpet rug. Someone said maybe the owner is tired of Danfo guys and the way they scratch his cars so he decided to think a way that will leave his car scratch-free and maintain his car.

With innovation like this one, he won't have to worry about car paint, less cleaning, spraying and lots more.

These are photos of the car as the owner was seen cruising around the city of Lagos as obtained by AutoReportNG.com

MrBrownJay1:

there is a HUGE difference between trains and metros...the comfort aspect is first and foremost. you wont stand in a train for 3 hrs like you would in a metro.. secondly, only metros have so many doors in their carriages. trains have one in the front and one in the back.

then they should show us the REAL picture of what is being brought from China (or POST NO PICTURES), instead of these useless BS metro cars with no damn seat and so many doors!

all the pics are false... none of these are TRAINS!

We have adjusted the headline, the trains are for metros for the Abuja Light Rail and will run on the Abuja 12 stations

Thanks for your clarification

The ministry of transportation is a very important ministry that every government either state or federal hold dearly to its heart. Once the road and other forms of transportation are solved, be sure that problems of mobility have come to an end.

Some few days, the minister of transportation was at CRRC head office in China where he went to inspect the trains that will be used for the Lagos-Ibadan rail and the Abuja Light Rail. The rail are expected to ply the 12 statiojs in Abuja metropolis. AutoReportNG has it on a good note that trains meant for the Abuja metropolis are already on their way to Nigeria.

We got an exclusive overview of how these trains look like. The trains will be adorned in three colours, one is the green and white, the other is blue and white and the last colour will be orange and white (that is if the colours remain unchanged)

During the inspection, the minister was made to see different types of trains, models and how they work. The Abuja type of train is called DMU... A DMU train according to Wikipedia, A diesel multiple unit or DMU is a multiple-unit train powered by on-board diesel engines. A DMU requires no separate locomotive, as the engines are incorporated into one or more of the carriages. Diesel-powered single-unit railcars are also generally classed as DMUs. Diesel-powered units may be further classified by their transmission type: diesel-electric (DEMU), diesel-mechanical (DMMU) or diesel-hydraulic (DHMU).

A train composed of DMU cars scales well, as it allows extra passenger capacity to be added at the same time as motive power. It also permits passenger capacity to be matched to demand, and for trains to be split and joined en route. It is not necessary to match the power available to the size and weight of the train, as each unit is capable of moving itself. As units are added, the power available to move the train increases by the necessary amount. DMUs may have better acceleration capabilities, with more power-driven axles, making them more suitable for routes with frequent closely spaced stops, as compared with conventional locomotive and unpowered carriage setups.

Remember, the minister of transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi has given the contractor Nov 30th deadline for a test run to start from Ebute-Metta in Lagos to Ibadan.

AutoReportNG got some exclusive images of these trains and the company's video graphical presentation when they are going for a test run and trial at CRRC Dalian's Factory.

The trains are expected to arrive in Nigeria before December 2019. See the photos below...

Politics / Lagos-Ibadan Rail: Amaechi Inspects Site Of All Stations - Photos by AutoReportNG: 1:38pm On Oct 28, 2019
In as much as mobility, infrastructure and transportation are concerned in Nigeria, trust us to be your eyes and ears. The Lagos Ibadan Railway project is a massive project that lots can't wait to see the actualization, to some, it's a project that's taking too long to complete.

Some days back, we featured the Ibadan Axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Railway where we did a photo documentary of the railway from start to finish.

Tolu Ogunlesi, the special assistant to the President on New Media was on tour with Nigeria's minister of transportation, Mr Rotimi Ameachi where he inspected the ongoing construction at the Ebute-Metta axis. According to Tolu, the Ebute-Metta terminal will be the biggest of all the stations that are being constructed. For the records, there will be 10 Stations on the Lagos Ibadan Rail Line, across 3 States: Lagos, Ogun and Oyo. Below are the list of the stations across the 3 states...

- Apapa
- Lagos Main (Ebute Metta)
- Agege
- Agbado
- Kajola
- Papalanto
- Abeokuta
- Olodo
- Omi-Adio
- Ibadan Main (Moniya)
[Moniya will also be home to an Inland Container Terminal]

From Ebute-Metta, the team went to Agege where another station will be sited and currently undergoing construction. According to Rolu, earthworks ahead of track laying (The existing Tracks you can see belong to the old narrow-gauge line, which is also being rehabilitated in sections alongside the construction of the standard gauge line). One of the major challenges of the workers has to do with population and a preponderance of gas and water pipes, buildings, markets, etc. as culverts, underpasses, overpasses, etc all need to be constructed in built-up areas. A major undertaking and challenge for the CCECC team.

The minister of transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi was in China two weeks ago where we went to inspect and test the trains that the federal government bought for the Lagos-Ibadan Railway and the Abuja-Kaduna rails, also he was in Russia some few days back where he went to sign an MoU with his Russian counterpart for the Railway project in Nigeria. The minister of transportation is not resting on his oars in making sure that the CCECC deliver and they deliver using the world-class materials and expertise.

There is a section on the train where you can hold conference meeting and business talk while on board. There’s a nice-looking boardroom here on this Test Train. I wonder if this design will be available on the operational Trains - hold your board meeting en route to Ibadan, tour the City, and catch a return train to Lagos. All in a day’s work.

After the inspection from Agege and Iju, the team rode on to Kajola. According to Tolu, We are now at Kajola, in Ogun State. [There’ll be a Station here] On Nov 8, 2019, there will be a groundbreaking ceremony on this site for a Wagon Assembly Plant - in the first instance. Eventually, locomotives & coaches will be locally-manufactured here. The team went on to inspect the station at Kajola and see the level of work done as well...

After accessing all the stations, the minister of transportation while addressing the contractors said, I want (Free) Trial Runs for Lagos Ibadan Rail to start on the 30th of November, from Ebute Metta all the way to Ibadan. Also, all minor stations must also be completed by the end of November.

So far, the Lagos Ibadan Rail tracks have been laid between Kilometer 23 and Kilometer 157. The ongoing phase of the track laying is now between KM 4 (Ebute Metta) and KM 23. The most challenging bit, considering it’s within the Lagos metropolis. The weather has been a big challenge to the pace of work. Plenty rain, slowing down work. Also Lagos Traffic conditions.

Kajola Axis..
