Travel / More Photos Of Mooro Bridge In Kwara State Where Many Crawl To Pass by AutoReportNG: 1:24pm On Oct 02, 2019
When you thought you have seen the weirdest of all roads, you kept seeing more and more till you are dumbfounded and being to ask questions.

This is Moro bridge in Kwara State, you'll cross it on your way from Ilorin, Igbeti/Kishi. The bridge has come into the spotlight due to the untold hardships people go through on this bridge daily, not only that, its a dangerous place for road users who can only use this road to link to their various destination.

The contractor handling the project has left the site and dump the materials carelessly on the road, for people to pass through this road, they have to line up and crawl like little children else they risk being injured by the irons the contractors abandoned on the road or they fall into the ditch they dug.

According to the images and videos seen online, the situation of things on this road is sorrowful and something urgent needs to be done.

How did Moro Bridge degenerate into this death trap?

According to an investigation made by AutoReportNG, the bridge was collapsed around 2015 and after lots of outcries, the former state governor, Mr Ahmed Fatai decided to repair the road. According to the press release by the Kwara State Government of 8th Nov. 2016, it reads...

Kwara Begins Repair of Collapsed Moro Bridge

Following the release of funds by Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, the repair of the collapsed Moro Bridge on Ilorin-lgbeti highway has begun.

The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yayaha who made this known in Ilorin, noted that the steel and other materials purchased for the repair have been received.

He also disclosed that the State government had earlier in March this year intervened on the Ohan-bailey Bridge, also in Moro Local Government of the State.

The commissioner explained that although the two bridges are Federal Government facilities, the State Government decided to carry out intervention work on them in order to ease the hardship faced by road users and motorists.

While commending the Federal Government for its interventions on various roads within the State, Alhaji Yayaha urged the central government to reconstruct the two bridges as the lasting solution to preventing their future collapse.

He added that the reconstruction of the bridges will further boost the agricultural activities in the area and the state in general, particularly in easing the transportation of farm produce to commercial destinations.

The questions on our lips are, who is the contractor handling this project? Why did they stop? Did the government pay for this project? Who are those at helms of affairs? Is there follow-up? Why has there not been any tangible thing done after 3 years after this project has been awarded?

We bring to you pictures of when it really collapsed in 2016, pictures when its undergoing repairs and pictures when the contractors abandoned the project.

During Reconstruction As At 2018

While we await feedbacks from the ministry of works and Kwara State Government, AutoReportNG felt this is a national disater that needs urgent action, if not for anything, at least for our poor mothers and fathers who have to climb on those iron slabs, what if the fall, or what if they get pierced by those rods left carelessly on the bridge.

Dear Mr. President:

On behalf of the American people, I extend our warmest greetings and congratulate you on the 59th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence.

Car Talk / INNOSON IKENGA: Innoson To Unveil New Car Named After Dr Dozie Ikedife by AutoReportNG: 1:10pm On Sep 30, 2019
Innoson motors seem to be going the indigenous way of naming their vehicles after prominent Nigerians who have touched lives. The automobile company is set to release a brand new model to the public called INNOSON IKENGA which is currently undergoing finishing touch.

The INNOSON IKENGA is a beautiful Cross Over Vehicle in final stages of production at the Nnewi manufacturing company and it was named in honour of Dr Dozie Ikedife, Ikenga Nnewi.

It will be recalled that Innoson is a Nigerian automobile and bus manufacturing company. It was founded by Innocent Chukwuma and runs a plant in Nnewi in the state of Anambra. 70% of the car parts are produced locally, while the rest is sourced from Japan, China, and Germany.

These are some of the images of the vehicle at their plant in Nnewi.

Politics / Oyo Dry Port: Seyi Makinde Inspects Ongoing Construction At The Site - Photos by AutoReportNG: 1:24pm On Sep 27, 2019
Since the handing over of Oyo Dry Port to the Oyo State Government, little has been heard of this project. The project which costs about 35 billion naira has been rested for a while maybe this is due to change in power, we can't really say. The Oyo Dry Port was meant to be an inland port where all containers will be loaded thereby relieving the Lagos port which has become too full due to containers from owners

Oyo State Gov., Engr Seyi Makinde decided to see things for himself by inspecting the ongoing construction at this site. It will interest you to note that this place has been left untouched since the past administration. This place was handed to former gov., Ajimobi who signed on behalf of the state government and Mr Rotimi Ameachi who signed for the federal government respectively.

See photos of the inspection below...

Politics / FRSC Begins Test Transmission Of Its Radio Station, Unveils FRSC National Radio by AutoReportNG: 11:27am On Sep 27, 2019
Just as Lagos that has Africa's first traffic radio, the federal road safety commission seem to be toiling this line too. We can report that all is now set for the official test transmitting of the FRSC Radio.

The Zonal Commanding Officers the Federal Road Safety were taken around the facilities of the station in Abuja recently where they inspected the state of the art equipment being donated to them.

The FRSC Radio is the brainchild of the current Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, the transmitting equipment for the radio was provided by one of Nigeria's Banks as part of its support for the efforts of the lead agency to curb accidents on Nigerian roads.

No date has been fixed yet for the commissioning although the test transmitting will begin any moment from now.

It will be recalled that the NBC recently granted the FRSC the license for the station which will help in giving information, tips and traffic update to motorists in the city of Abuja.

Here are pictures from the inspection as obtained by AutoReportNG

The city of New York which is the venue 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly is currently under total locked down with heavy security. A total number of 196 head of states from different countries around the world are in New York including Nigeria's President, Pres. Muhammadu Buhari.

New York is the headquarter of the United Nations Assembly and yearly, it hosts heads of states to deliberate on issues affecting the world and map out a strategic solution through dialogue, networking and also using the opportunity to draw investors to various countries.

According to Simon Ateba, the founder of Today News Africa who was in New York City covering the event, he released these images and he tagged it, the city of New York under total lockdown.

These are images from the street of New York as cars, buses and movement are restricted totally.

Fir those that are not aware, before a cleanup is embarked upon, a JIV is embarked upon by stakeholders in the Oil Industry (NOSDRA, DPR, Oil Company whose facility or area of operation is affected and others) before a cleanup and remediation is done.

My questions are:.

1. When was the JIV done to ascertain the current state of those spill sites?

2. Will there be transparency in the Cleanup exercise (watched by Amnesty Int'l and co)

3. WILL there be remediation to return those sites to former state.

4. And closed out

If you dont understand these terms, dig deeper.

I think the JIV has been done, its quite unfortunate that one can't post all their activities so as not to be appear sponsored or as if they are paying us to promote their activities and work but the little I knew, seems all what you mentioned have been done.

I will post some pictures if I am free, even UN Environment came to inspect the area last month... let's be hopeful that they will get it right

Many have been asking when will the federal government fulfilled its promises on the Ogoni land that has become a sort of a desolate land for its inhabitants. Well, we have some good news for you all, the federal government of Nigeria has truly begun the clean up of the Ogoni land. According to images received by AutorReportNG, we can testify that work has really started.

This is HYPREP's lot 6 (Nkeleoken) at Alode in Eleme LGA where remediation is ongoing. The process is the transfer of contaminated soil into the biocell for treatment.

It will be recalled that in 2011, UNEP submitted a report to the Federal Government on Environmental Assessment of Ogoniland. Today, that document is popularly referred to as the “UNEP Report” among stakeholders. The report contains detailed information on the assessment which covered contaminated land, groundwater, surface water, sediment, vegetation, air pollution, public health, industry practice and institutional issues as well as recommendations and steps to be followed in carrying out the clean-up exercise.

On 2nd June 2016, the Federal Government flagged-off the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) with the mandate to Remediate the Environment and Restore the Livelihood of the people.

With the clean up of the Ogoniland, the people of this community can rest assured that their lands will be fruitful and bring forth bountiful harvest again.

Travel / The Irony Of Lagos Lesser Known Toll Gate: An Exposé Into Mushin Toll Gate by AutoReportNG: 4:32pm On Sep 23, 2019
If you are a regular road user of the Mushin, Fadeyi, Onipanu area, there is no way that you won't pass through the Mushin toll gate. The Mushin toll gate links Mushin and Ogunmokun Street junction. The Mushin toll gate has been there for ages, in fact as long as residents can remember. The Mushin Toll Gate collects money from commercial buses, private car owners even to bikes and Keke NAPEP plying this route, they charge from 50 naira upwards depending on your category of cars or vehicles.

While it is not a crime or a sin to collect toll fares in as such as people see what you use the funds to do by making sure the road is up to standard and you use the toll fees to develop the roads which they are paying.

One of our readers sent in this post detailing the activities of the Mushin Toll Gate and why those in charge of it only collect money from road users and refuse to maintain and develop the road. The question now is, where are these monies going to? Who are those in charge and lots more.

Read his submission below...

What comes to the mind of an average Lagosian when the concept of a toll gate is mentioned? Most Lagosians will most likely think about the Lekki and Ikoyi toll gates. These tollgates were introduced by the past administration of Babatunde Fashola as a solution to providing funding for the construction and maintenance of major roads in the city.

However, this development proved quite unpopular in some quarters, leading to high profile protests that claimed the life of one protester and possibly informed the decision of the state government acquiring the concessionaire (Lekki Concession Company) in 2014.

However, there is a lesser-known toll gate situated at the gateway of Mushin Local Government Area. The toll gate is situated between Kayode Street in the Onipan area of Lagos and Ogunmokun Street in the Mushin area of Lagos.

Mushin toll gates operate much in the same way as its more popular cousins, with attendants backed by armed policed men demanding that motorist pay the prescribed toll fare before passage through the gate. It, however, stands apart from its more popular cousin as it is situated on a road that could well compete as one of Lagos bad roads. The road is riddled with deep portholes, silt, and dirt, creating a non-recreational off-road driving experience for motorists plying the road.

If some users of the Lekki-Epe Expressway found it difficult to understand why the state government had to toll the road to an area that possibly generates billions in monthly tax revenues to fund the repair and maintain it, it is lost to most users of Mushin roads as to why Government will toll a road to a major economic hub without any meaningful effort to repair it over the years.

Perhaps, it’s high time the State and Local Government clarify the justification for the toll gate at Mushin. God bless Lagos State.

See the state of the roads around this area...

Ever since Lagosians have voiced their anger on the Oshodi-Apapa Road especially the path leading to Apapa where a journey of 10mins is taking hours due to the bad roads and tankers that have turned the place to their garage. We have it on good authority that work has started at the Oshodi-Apapa Road. It will be recalled that the reconstruction of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway was started by Dangote Group under the Road Infrastructure Development & Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme aka Executive Order 007 signed by Pres. Buhari in January 2019 (Dangote awarded the contract to Hitech).

For those familiar with the Apapa-Wharf road, it will be recalled that Dangote Group and some industries teamed up together to reconstructe the Apapa-Wharf Road citing the ta relief reforms.

AutoReportNG sighted some images of the Oshodi - Apapa road construction, just like the Apapa-Wharf construction, the road is being done with cement and some iron reinforcement. It has been 3 months since work started on this road and we can only wish the construction firm hasten up a bit.

Amazon, Netflix etc doesn't beat dstv when you do an apple for apple comparison..

NTEL was sick, don't know if it has recovered. Spectrabet throttle your speed after certain utilization.. So?

I disagree Sir, I use both NTEL and Spectranet and I am far better off though they had their challenges. The truth remains that DSTV is nothing than a repetitive cable network... You need to see how other cable network works, that's when you will know that they are scamming us in Nigeria, no fresh or new content, its GI-GO

You can only boycott what you have an alternative to. In Nigeria who is competing with DSTv, even in the telecom, other brands are still miles away from MTN.

To worsen, matters, even the poor no longer patronize the kiosks in their neighbourhood but root for ShopRite. The list is endless.

Ever heard of Amazon Fire stick or Android box? Do you know with good internet of about 19k use Spectranet unlimited or NTEL unlimited of 17500, you can steam thousand of channels with amazing and new contents unlike the nonesense dstv is showing??

When do they fight on the weekends... we have had Dambe fighters come in from Kano and Kebbi, with a few from Lagos.

Where is your area? Maybe we can come and cover your fight one of these days... Let me know the venue and time, I will try to come and take some few shots...

The Dambe is usually common among the Hausa's... If you come to Obalende on weekends, you will see them under the bridge, I once did a feature about them around May this year... But they are mostly drugged
