Politics / 2nd Niger Bridge: See The New Look As Construction Works Continue - (Oct Update) by AutoReportNG: 6:51pm On Oct 26, 2019
The many questions on the lips of many are, will the 2nd Niger Bridge ever come to reality? Are we not been scammed as usual? When are we going to reap the benefit of this government? All these and more questions we come across daily which most times we have no answers for them.

The Second Niger Bridge Project is one project that the Eastern folks look up to with high expectations, many began having a mixed feeling when it was reported that youths in this area shut down the construction site and demanded 10billion naira as compensation from Julius Berger, the company handling the project, well, we have some news for you all.

AutoReportNG promised our readers up to date information about how work is faring at this site, we also promise to give live images, feed and camera view from the site. According to the latest images made available to AutReportNG, we noticed some latest developments and construction, for example, the following were reported at the site...

- Maintaining a temporary dam (against rising water table)
- Offshore pier construction (Axes 210 + 220)
- Installation of scour protection (Axis 250)
- Casting station for incremental launching (West Approach)
- Increased stiffness piers Axis 110 for Incremental launching (West Approach).

We can report that work is ongoing at the site daily as the engineers are working on making sure that they meet up with the target set by the federal government of Nigeria.

The Second Niger Bridge is a key national infrastructure, with immense socio-economic benefits for the contiguous states and indeed the entire nation. It is a project by the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented through the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing in collaboration with the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority.

Upon completion, the bridge will ease traffic flow, improve road safety, and create greater opportunities for local residents by advancing the commercial viability of the immediate area and regenerating economic life.

The scope of works includes the construction of 1.6 km long bridge, 10.3 km Highway, Owerri interchange and a toll station. The bridge is estimated to be completed in 42 months (3 and half years) and so far, 26 months seem gone.

These are live images from the site as obtained by AutoReportNG.

Politics / Kwara Govt Starts Rehabilitating Moro Bridge After Public Outcry by AutoReportNG: 8:28pm On Oct 25, 2019
Remember the story we broke about the Kwara's Mooro Bridge where people crawl before they can pass through the bridge? If you missed it, read it here. We have it on a good note that the Kwara State Government has begun immediate repair of the bridge since the news broke. According to the press release by the press sectary, Mansurat Amuda-Kannike, she said...

The Executive Governor of Kwara State Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq has directed the immediate rehabilitation of Moro-Bailey Bridge along Ilorin-Igbeti Federal road and the damaged portion on the Ilorin-Ogomosho old Federal road at OTTE respectively. Consequently, the Kwara State Road Maintenance Agency KWARMA has commenced repair work in the two areas.

Inspecting the repair works exercise, the Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport Dr Yusuf Garba Manjo expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor for approving funds for the repairs of the Moro-Bailey Bridge and the damaged portion at the Ilorin-Ogbomosho old Federal road at OTTE.

The Permanent Secretary thanked the Oloje Garage Motor Unions for their support for the closure of the Moro-Bailey Bridge to ensure repair work on the bridge and directed Officers of Kwara State Road Maintenance Agency (KWARMA) at the site to expedite action on the bridge repair work so that the bridge can be reopened for traffic on scheduled by Thursday 3rd October 2019.

Dr Manjo during his assessment visit to the site noted that the Kwara State Government intervened in the repair work of the Moro Bailey Bridge and the damaged portion on the Ilorin-Ogbomosho old Federal at OTTE in order to curb accidents and reduce hardship being faced by commuters plying these two roads.

He, therefore, enjoined KWARMA to carry out the quality job and also called on Federal Ministry Works and Housing to prevail on the contractor handling Moro/Ohan Bridges to return to the site in order facilitate timely completion of the two bridges.

Travel / The New Lagos Airport Terminal That Will Be Commissioned In April 2020 by AutoReportNG: 11:56am On Oct 25, 2019
The Federal Government on Wednesday in Abuja pledged to ensure the delivery of a new international airport in Lagos before Easter celebration next year.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, stated this in an interview with journalists at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in the State House.

The minister also said the necessity to construct a new airport in Lagos had become compelling, bearing in mind that when the airport was first commissioned in 1980, it was meant to serve only 200,000 people.

However, he said the number of passengers using the airport has risen from 200,000 in 1980 to 8 million people today with a number of infrastructures there already collapsed.

He also explained that the plan for the overhaul of the Lagos airport is in two phases, noting that after the delivery of the new airport, the old one will be redesigned and reconstructed in acknowledgement of the growing population of Lagos as well as the attraction that Lagos continues to generate.

Meanwhile, these are the on-going construction of the new terminal of MMIA as obtained by AutoReportNG.... See more of the photos below

You can open 100 new Nairaland accounts in one day. All you need is new email addresses, which on its own is also very easy.
This is the loophole that those guys exploit, and it's really very difficult to curb. The only option is for most people to keep reporting them once they notice the posts.

This is quite easy, once your account gets reported or get banned, you know you can't get the account back again, even if he opens a new account, it takes a month to get fully activated to post or comment, he will guide the remaining accounts with some sense.

The issue is that spammers are fast turning this forum into something else and I think this idea might help in some way.

This same suggestion has been made over and over again with no response. It's only on nairaland anyone can create a new account with almost 99% access except in the business section. On more established international forums all accounts go through probation periods of 2 weeks and above. To make matters worse, nairaland does not have enough moderators. Alot of illegal acts go unchecked.

Reason why Seun needs to look into account opening and moderation. If a user knows for sure that if he/she signed up, it will take a month to post or comment, he will guard his existing account jealously. NL is big enough to have checks and balances.

Those bet 9ja guys and the guy selling data using same method from fb message all the time

Seun... I want to make a proposal, let every new account have a trial period of one month before they can be fully activated to post or comment.... You will agree that those guys spamming the forum are new accounts, when a new account is created, its under probation period of one month such that if such user goes against the rule, its ban or suspended, he knows he can't open a new one to try such and so he will be respectful, we will have a forum devoid of hate, spam and porn.

Let every new account be under probation of one month, once you break any rule, you are banned, so you know you can't misbehave, insult or spam the forum anyhow.

Please look this and I believe this is the best solution for the tribal attacks we having here

Politics / Dapo Abiodun Declares Emergency On Flooded Areas, Visits Flood Victims by AutoReportNG: 6:40pm On Oct 23, 2019
Just as his Lagos counterpart, the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has declared a state of emergency on flood areas in Ogun state. According to the governor, we have declared an emergency on the deplorable state of the flood-hit Isheri Road, which is on the border Ogun State shares with Lagos State.

We will also begin work on the Atan-Lusada-Agbara Road, located in Agbara-Igbesa LCDA which houses a remarkable number of industries. The work will be in partnership with the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), which has offered technical and financial contributions to this long-awaited intervention.

While I received a delegation in Abeokuta from the AFC, led by the Senior Director, Mr Taiwo Adeniji, I expressed joy at the succour that these moves would bring to our people who have been affected by years-long abandonment of the roads which had heavy vehicular traffic due to their locations and industrial viability.

Also, the governor was narrating his experience when he visited those whose homes were taken over by flood, the governor said, On my way back from Lagos yesterday, I had the opportunity of having an on-the-spot assessment of the Isheri Riverview Estate recently hit by floods.

The situation I observed is a major catastrophe and it calls for rapt attention, and this is exactly what we will give to it.

Our Government will speed up action to bring succor to our people in the flood-ravaged community. AutoReportNG got some images from the governor's visit to the flooded area

Politics / A Trailer Falls Into Water At Brewery Ijora 7up Road In Lagos - Photos by AutoReportNG: 6:22pm On Oct 23, 2019
For those who ply this road regularly especially those who go through Apapa, Ajegunle, Orile and Ijora Badia, you must be familiar with this road. This is Brewery Road en route Ijora 7up. This road has been in ruins for years with the promise from the federal government to look into the road but nothing has been.

The trailers and tankers ply this road regularly as this road leads to NNPC depot at Ijora 7up also this road leads to Apapa-Wharf for the tanker drivers which makes this road quite a busy one for road users and also private car owners.

Early this morning, an articulated container lost track due to the bad road and poor drainage fell into the water. Though no lives were reported lost or any casualties it caused a traffic jam as the road has to be diverted for cars.

It will be recalled that in June, the federal government of Nigeria directed that all trucks and trailers on the Apapa road and bridges should be cleared, even though the order was carried out but they are yet to comply 100% as some still park on the highway.

These are images from Brewery Road, Ijora 7up Lagos

The Agric-Isawo road is one of the worst roads in Lagos, it's so bad that when it rains, everywhere was flooded. Now that Hi-Tech is back to the road, let's hope they will be able to find a logical solution to the menace this road has caused.

Beginning to notice that AutoReportNG might be part of the Bourdillon Bullion Gang...
Nothing against Sanwo-Olu, but like a few other AutoReport posts credit is never given to the Ambode administration that acquired these ferries.

Even the bit about online purchase of tickets is all part of the Ambode administration’s Intelligent Transport System (ITS), which would not only allow for online ticket purchases but also for commute planning and intermodal transfer between ferries and buses (and ultimately the light rail trains as well) without having to buy multiple tickets. Finally, in respect of route development, it was also a carryover from the Ambode administration which was dredging and developing 9 major ferry routes in Lagos (the marine equivalent of road highways), following years of fighting with the National Inland Waterways Authority (which by law under Nigeria’s bizarre “federal” system controlled inland waterways) for control of Lagos’ inland waters (litigation that was in fairness carried over from the Fashola administration). PLEASE GIVE CREDIT WHERE DUE!

cheesycheesycheesy... You are funny! No one gets more attack than us cos we do try to clear the facts from the figures. We have never said that Sanwo-Olu bought these ferries, we all know that Ambode bought these boats and he commissioned them before leaving office.

We do give credit but this is a press release by the LASG and we can't add or edit it. Please check on our site to read more about these boats, you will see we try to be factual.

For the records, no politicians or states pay us for our report, we are self-funded and we have never been tipped to write a compromise story or report, our integrity is all that counts.

Travel / Lagos Ferry To Start Operations In November - See What The Ferries Look Like by AutoReportNG: 9:09am On Oct 22, 2019
The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Ferry Services, LAGFERRY, will ferry an average of 480,000 passengers via the waterways as it progresses in its commercial operations due to commence next month in commemoration of 200 days of the Sanwo-Olu led administration.

The Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde disclosed this during his working visit to the LAGFERRY office at Mile-2, alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Olawale Musa and other management staff.

He lauded the agency’s efforts and preparations on advancing water transportation including boat tests, and critical assessment of 30 key routes with the aid of drones, promising the Ministry's support to ensure that the agency remains effective to sustain the safe use of the waterways by citizens.

Oladeinde also stated that the agency will work hand in hand with LAMATA to incorporate the ferry system into the central ticketing and billing system to coordinate the modes of transportation in the State.

The Managing Director, LAGFERRY, Mr Abdoulbaq Ladi-Balogun, while briefing the Commissioner, stated that the agency is working with its counterparts, the Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources as well as the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure to rid the water channels of wreckages and debris which are the main causes of mishaps on the waterways.

He revealed that the agency is looking to drive its operations via technology by creating an application that will allow passengers to make online ticket bookings for their trips ahead of time to create ease and reduce loading time.

Ladi-Balogun also mentioned that the agency is keen on commencing commercial boat activities, through its already existing routes, to decongest the roads and ultimately ease movement from one place to another, adding that riverine communities like coconut, Snake Island, Badagry and Ikorodu are clamouring for effective waterways transportation along the axis.

He proferred that goods and vehicles could also be moved off the roads to their various destinations on water through high capacity barges.

According to LAGFerry, in a bid to ensure a wonderful experience on our ferries, we are providing free wifi to every passenger on board as well as an electrical power outlet to charge your phones and gadgets. We are putting a lot into consideration.

See photos of the ferries that will launch as from November.

Nice one...
Travel / Work Resumes At Agege Pen Cinema Bridge - Photos by AutoReportNG: 6:47pm On Oct 19, 2019
Just as a Biblical phrase that says "the vision is yet for an appointed time, though it tarries, it will not lie but will surely come to pass". Such can be said for residents of Pen-Cinema in Agege. Pen Cinema road has been a pain for all road users either you trek or you are driving, this spot will likely make you have some discomfort. The project which was kick-started by former governor, Akinwunmi Ambode was to link Pen Cinema to other places like Iju, Fagba and other roads that are close by, ordinarily, this project ought to have been completed as it is at its 70% completion stage but we are surprised to see it abandoned.

It will be recalled that on Sunday, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu declared a state of emergency on all Lagos roads, this according to him is necessary and timely as the roads are bads and people are going through tough times.

HiTech Construction has commenced work and do hope it will completed on time and this time commissioned to the public.

AutoReportNG got these images on how HiTech are starting to work and we can only wish them well... See more of the photos below...

Crime / Re: Gunshots In Obalende As Rival Gangs Clash (Video, Pictures) by AutoReportNG: 1:01pm On Oct 19, 2019
Lalasticlala

This is a fake news...

Its the NDLEA that are raiding the Obalende under bridge early this morning. Gun shots were heard as early as 8am which lasted till about 8.45am. I was an eye witness and I can tell you that this report is false from the pit of hell... No cultists were fighting, its the NDLEA clearing Obalende bridge and they clash with those selling weeds...
