Kano Pillars was already at the top with 1 point ahead of Lobi. It is justice served, nothing wrong.

What if pillars win today's match? Will you still say it is manipulated?

Interesting remarks from my "southern abokis friends".

Congratulations to our darling team Kano Pillars!!!

Pillars to end season in style

Champions-elect Kano Pillars have promised to play their last game of the season at Sunshine Stars on Friday with total commitment.

This was disclosed to MTNFootball.com by Pillars coach Mohammed Baba Ganaru.

He said he will present his best team against Sunshine stars and that they will give their best as they have done in previous games even though they have been crowned champions following the ruling on Ocean Boys.

“It is true that we have won the league no matter the outcome of the game against Sunshine Stars, but we are not looking it that way, we are approaching the game with all seriousness,” he assured.

“We will go into the game as if we have not won the league. I am presenting the best team for the match, so it should be an interesting and explosive game.”

Pillars will be missing Eagles defender Papa Idris, who is injured, while Gabriel Rueben and Umar Zango are with the national team for the AFCON qualifier in Liberia.

Youth international midfielder Shehu Abdullahi has been released by the Flying Eagles to be part of the victory party in Ijebu-Ode.

Also, the club’s top scorer with 15 goals Gambo Mohammed has rejoined the team from Turkey and will face Sunshine Stars.

Gambo has been in Turkey on trials but in the end he did not secure a contract with either Samsunspor or Adana Demirspor.

“Gambo is back with us, he came back from Turkey yesterday night (Wednesday) and we picked him at the airport in Lagos yesterday night. He is here with us for the game,” Ganaru disclosed.

Pillars beat Sunshine by the odd goal in the reverse fixture in Kano.

TB Joshua Vs Dr Sign Fireman: Who's Faker? by Ijogz K(m): 10:35am On Nov 30, 2011
LMAO: Dr Fireman is beginning to steal the show from TB Joshua, he is now the talk of the town both nationally and internationally. Some claim he is the sign of the end time prophets, while others believe that he's a true man of God with his everyday wondrous miracle's. Well either way, he is beginning to derive, draw and control attention to his church which is forming a kind of PR. Same strategy that made the Synagogue church of all Nations so popular due to the high level of criticism that it got.

Seems our dear TB Joshua is busy smiling, and watching the small boys take their turn as he his considered an Elder Statesman in the league of Fake pastors, He his getting close to his retirement in criticism as he now spends majority of his time predicting football and playing Rapido .

Who would you consider a Total Fake and thief and please state your reasons?

When the beast was going around campaigning for votes and making promises, he also visited the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) where he came up to make his usual fake promises and pastor Adeboye prayed for him. He must have won the heart of so many Nigerians who didn't see ahead of a beast in the making, I can also remember this same beast visiting Living faith church worldwide aka Winners Chapel, where he came up at the podium and spoke to thousands of people, been hosted by the Vice president Living faith church Bishop David ABioye.

Am so sure that if this spiritual leaders hadn't endorsed this man/beast/slowpoke/im.becile/Eediot, we probably would have had a more reasonable animal, like Buhari,

NONSENSE!!!
I am sure he doesn't have any faith in Islam already. He is either a Christian or have no religion at all.

@PapaBrowne

I can tell you that the Southern Governors are doing this just to impose their own political will in their states. State Police means some separate State Laws. An offence in Enugu may not be an offence in Lagos, we will not be so sure until it is implemented and the Governors did not impose or allow some outrageous acts to happen in the states. In the long run, it might led to the separation of the country. grin

ahika: There are few people in this world who take their words as a mark of dignity, and 'auwal' is among the few ones. When I was explaining the poem, in my mind was ''even if he does not give me the $100 it is worth trying'' but he have proved those of us who thought that someone can't just give away $100, wrong. Some will be asking 'did he actually give out the $100 as he promised?' the answer to that question is yes. Once again thank you auwal.

And @sunical, what is it about the poem that makes it difficult to understand. As you can see, almost everybody that replied to this post gave a clue or almost all the answer. So I can't see the reason why the poem is being criticised.
Thanks for the good words Ahika. I am glad I gave out this prize, and it is my wish to do more. I am trying to encourage/promote creation of creative art and literature in Nigeria. I may pick one of my poems and run this type of contest every 3 months. Hopefully some people will copy what I am doing and offer even more higher prizes.

sunical: On the words highlighted above, "literary masterpiece" ?? I don't get you. Who wrote the poem? And on what grounds is it a literary masterpiece? Why not try sending it to some renowned poetry editors to see if they accept it for publication.

My point is, you don't go about saying a poem is a literary masterpiece. I am trying very hard not to critique this poem of yours, because I will be very honest to point some weaknesses I find in it. Why must it be hard to understand? That a poem is hard to understand doesn't make it a great poem. Chances are, it's a bad poem written by a poet with mediocre language skills.

It's my hope you focus more on honing your poetic skills instead of basking in the glory of finding your poem difficult to understand by readers (that is if this poem was written by you).

Thanks.
Quite nice of you, I shouldn't have mentioned 'masterpiece' even though I was referring to my own collection of poems which I wrote my self not world masterpiece.

Are you finding it hard to believe that I wrote the poem? Well, I don't blame you, you may not understand the veracity of it either.

PoliticsGovernors Will Abuse State Police - Jonathan by auwal87(op): 4:38am On Aug 28, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday said state police would be abused by governors and the Nigerian polity is not ripe for the policy. He disagreed with the position of the NBA on the urgent need to create state police in addressing the nation’s security challenges, saying if abused by the governors it could worsen the security situation in the country.

Speaking while declaring open the 52nd NBA annual national conference, President Jonathan said he had consulted widely with the Council of State and had been advised not to implement the idea of state police.

Jonathan further noted that there was a time the Nigeria police had come up with the policy of posting police officers from the rank of inspector downwards to their states of origin, but instead of improving the situation, that policy worsened the security situation in the country.

The president, who lamented that his critics failed to understand that the challenges the country was facing had been there before he came in vowed to prove critics of his administration wrong by 2013 when the dividends of new policies introduced in various sectors begin to manifest.

The president also described himself as the most criticised president in the world.

He told the gathering: “I think I am the most criticised president in the whole world, but I tell this noble audience that before I leave, I will also be the most praised. I have experienced that before in my governor journey in Bayelsa State. In fact, people who were close to me will tell you that even after the election, I told them that in my first 12 months please cover your ears because you will hear all kinds of things. But as we progress, there will be changes.”

ahika: LAND OF HOPE
It talks about Nigeria and Niger Delta(land).

In the beginning there was peace in the land, the atmosphere was nice, there was no oil spillage on the land, the land was fruitful (midst of the valley full of shades). Until a time when exploitation of the land begins, when spilled crude oil starts to damage the land (with molten trees rot to death. While the spillage damaged your veins)

Now, the second paragraph tells how the land was made to suffer bitterly due to the selfishness of the exploiters (Darkness reign, no where to run. Host tempting you hard with clout). The exploiters went on to dig more crude oil in search of more from the land, causing more oil spillage, not minding the present situation of the land (They lead you all the way down Down down to a deadly end).

The third paragraph talks about how those who live on the land fears or don't even bother to confront the exploiters (Those that hear can't even tempt). Moreover, the wealth acquired from the land have done wonders to the nation (You blessed the right with care, The left enjoys your open gate,......) but the land still suffers (You cry, cry and cry.......)

Finally, the land have come to realise its use, and forget its sorrows and painful times, and also use its wealth, resources to bless the NATION NIGERIA (Now is the time for you to take your pride, share your blessings with the guarded host..........)

PoliticsThere May Be Little Or No Oil In Sokoto by auwal87(op): 5:44am On Aug 25, 2012
Everyone know the current political issue being discussed is the State Police, since most of the Governors in the North are opposing this motion, this is then brought up to deviate the attention of the Southern Governors from creating State Police. grin

Reasons
1. Before oil is discovered, an OPL is first given (Oil Prospecting License), after which the prospect will announce the availability of oil, quantity, density, etc.
2. There would have been news headline for the award of OPL in Sokoto state before the sudden news of "Oil Discovery".
3. Nobody can determine any of the above 2 and even make it official without federal government's permission, that is by obtaining the OPL. Case study is Lake Chad in Borno State (Maiduguri) where OPL was given to NNDC (OPL722 and OPL733). NNDC is the Northern Nigeria Development Company.
4. The Oil Mining License (OML) is the final thing that the company will obtain before extracting the oil for sale.

I will definitely love my region (North) to have oil wealth, but I cannot quickly agree to this and start jubilation without getting the real facts and figures, I am just not that kind. I also hope that when oil is discovered, the separation of the country will be accelerated, since we don't need to negotiate on the coastal areas again.

All I am seeing now is politics at play wink

I wasn't actually looking for the answer, because I already know what the meaning since I wrote it myself, I wanted to know how other people will translate the poem without any clue from me. That is why I put on this contest.

Ethiopia has become the second country after Japan to take delivery of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Ethiopian Airlines has bought 10 of Boeing's flagship aircraft, which are built from lightweight material, rather than aluminium, to save fuel.

The BBC's Catherine Byaruhanga in Addis Ababa says that despite the pouring rain, a marching band gave a fitting welcome as the first plane arrived.

Ethiopian Airlines is one of Africa's biggest airlines.

Our reporter says when the first Dreamliner arrived, it was a very proud moment for the company's workers and many took photographs of the new plane.

"As a continent this shows how much we are making progress as Africans... competing on the global stage and changing our image," Ethiopian Airline head Tewolde Gebremariam told reporters at Addis Ababa's Bole International Airport.

The aircraft are supposed to cost $200m each but correspondents say airlines rarely pay this price, especially for bulk orders.

Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways are the only two airlines already operating Dreamliner aircraft.

Ethiopian Airlines generally has a good safety record, apart from the 2010 crash of one of its aircraft off the coast of Lebanon.

The state-owned company serves 69 international destinations.

Christianity EtcWhat Catholics Can Learn From The Qur'an by auwal87(op): 10:23pm On Aug 19, 2012
(RNS) This year during Ramadan -- the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar when Muslims believe the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad -- I was in solidarity with my Muslim sisters and brothers throughout the world by reading the Quran. But here's the thing: I am a Roman Catholic.

My copy of the Quran, with more than 1,700 pages, has sat on the top shelf of my bedroom bookcase among other sacred texts for 14 years. Typically I would use it as a sporadic reference and resource to better understanding Islam, reading a few short passages at a time.

However, this Ramadan something at the core of my being was calling me to read the Quran in its entirety. And so my monthlong Ramadan journey began.
Each day and evening, the prayerful poetry in the Quran held me in a meditative mode of peace as I read without being aware of the passage of time.

When I finished reading a week before the end of the month, I felt as if the Quran was almost endless, reaching beyond the confines of my calendar days. I didn't want to read the last page. I didn't want to be finished.

The Quran inspired me, taught me and helped me to remember my essential holiness and how that holiness in the image of God should be reflected in the world.
As Ramadan comes to a close this weekend (Aug. 18-19) with Eid al-Fitr, I find myself focusing on the blessings I have been given through the grace of God while reading the Quran.

The Quran encouraged me to continuously be aware of a gracious and merciful God who cherishes humanity and cherishes all of creation. I came to believe more firmly during my humble Ramadan experience that being cherished by God is an example of divine love beyond the limitations of any one language, symbol and imagination.

Certainly this has implications for how we treat each other and care for the world.

Many chapters, or surahs, in the Quran had me reflecting on the diversity and opposite realities in nature (night/day, male/female, darkness/light, beginning/ending, life/death) and reaffirming that God is found in both. This insight into sacred polarity is a perfect teaching paradigm for respectful interreligious dialogue, which is never about win/lose, right/wrong profiling and divisiveness.

Among my greatest lessons from the Quran was to be reminded to have faith, seek the truth, praise God, pray, forgive, be kind, be peaceful and take care of people who are most vulnerable -- those who are oppressed and often forgotten.

Perhaps the commentary found in the conclusion of my Quran says it best:
"What can we do to make Allah's light shine forth through the darkness around us? We must first let it shine in our own selves. With the light in the niche of our inmost hearts we can walk with steps both firm and sure: We can humbly visit the comfortless and guide their steps. Not we but the light will guide. But oh the joy of being found worthy to bear the torch and to say to our brethren: I too was in darkness, comfortless, and behold, I have found comfort and joy in the grace divine."
After reading the Quran during Ramadan, I am again convinced that there are more commonalities between and among religions than there are differences that isolate and divide.

PoliticsSheikh Gumi Escaped Death In Kaduna by auwal87(op): 2:19am On Aug 16, 2012
The outspoken Sheikh Ahmad Gumi escaped death at the hand of suicide bombers after failing to reach him on their motorcycle.

Two people carrying explosives on motorbikes were killed by their own bombs in Kaduna yesterday, witnesses said, suggesting that the bombers targeted Islamic scholar Ahmad Gumi who recently criticised attacks blamed on the Boko Haram sect.
Only the bomb carriers died in the incident which happened at about 3.35pm on the busy Ali Akilu Road.
Witnesses said the bike-bombers appeared to be heading towards the Sultan Bello Mosque where hundreds of Muslims were gathering for Sheikh Gumi’s Ramadan Tafsir which was due to start in less than 30 minutes.
They said Gumi uses the same road to go to the mosque for the preaching session, which has been holding daily from 4pm since the beginning of the Muslim fasting month that ends at the weekend.
People who attend the Tafsir sessions said Gumi had recently criticised Boko Haram-linked suicide bombings and shootings, describing such acts as sacrilegious.
“(The bombers) were heading for Sultan Bello Mosque but before they reached the roundabout, we heard a loud explosion and three of them died instantly,” said a witness, Kaduna polytechnic student Idris Mustapha.
“Two were riding one of bikes while another person who we believe was part of them, was driving behind them. Then there was a loud blast,” he said.
