PoliticsRe: Musiwa Was Right About Kano Lol by auwal87(m): 1:24pm On Nov 05, 2013
There are 44 local government areas in Kano, travelling between this local government areas will give you a clear and comprehensive information about the population of Kano 'state'. There are agitations for creating 2 more states out of Kano at present. Each of these 2 agitations is genuinely made due to population and increasing concentration of infrastructural development in the center of the Kano city (Municipal area, Fagge, Nassarawa, Gwale, Kumbotso, Dala, and few others).

So I can personally put Kano in the area of 8 million to 12 million. Even though recently the governor himself mentioned that Kano is populated by about 15 million people depending his argument with the information he received from the local Inland Revenue Board. Truthfully, Kano metropolis cannot be more populated than Lagos metropolis, but Kano 'state' can be more populated than Lagos 'state', hence making it the 2nd most populated 'state' in Africa, not city.

PoliticsRe: Naira Drops As US Begins Monetary Tightening !!! by auwal87(m): 12:26pm On Aug 29, 2013
HNosegbe: Also, let's remember that the US is currently investing in energy self-sufficiency with the massive development of shale gas and tar sands deposits as well as the new fracking technology.

When the US becomes self-sufficient (in 2017 or so) they should witness an improvement in its balance of payments position as they don't have to spend so much on energy imports. This will boost the value of the dollar against other currencies (naira inclusive) and the naira may eventually fall in value to about N250 to the dollar.

Meanwhile, our crude oil is being stolen (meaning the government revenue from oil is dwindling). Nigerians are yet to curb their taste for imported goods, meaning that less and less naira will be exchanged for more expensive US dollars in order to keep importing. This will lead to "imported inflation" as the increased cost of such goods gets transferred to the final buyer.

Meanwhile, wages will remain constant, and unemployment will remain high as companies will not be able to expand.

While all these ominous events are taking place, our "leaders" are busy strategising for 2015.

Issokay...
Actually, it will be around N2,500 to $1 by 2017, due to so many factors, both political and economic.
WebmastersRe: What Is Wrong With Nigerian Government Websites? by auwal87(op): 1:11pm On Aug 08, 2013
Nigeria as a whole lacks a solid online presence strategy. It is one thing to have a website but another to know why you have that website and how to go about securing the site, managing the site and the site's relationship to other government websites.
It is actually a shame that a country as new as South Sudan are better than Nigeria in managing their online presence very well.
WebmastersRe: What Is Wrong With Nigerian Government Websites? by auwal87(op): 10:03am On Aug 08, 2013
Ministry of Foreign Affairs is supposed to be a place where people can find investment opportunities in Nigeria, embassy contact addresses, visa information for several countries, and other wealth of information that can help people find out important information about Nigeria.
WebmastersWhat Is Wrong With Nigerian Government Websites? by auwal87(op):
I am trying to reach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website for some information, but all I can see is that the domain has been redirected to another website as a subdomain, or am I trying to access the wrong website? The address I entered was mfa.gov.ng Please let me know if they have any other address apart from that, if you don't know please ask your oga at the top before you reply!! grin

Seriously they need to get their acts right, how can a simple website can't be maintained in Nigeria?
PoliticsICC Accused Boko Haram Of Crimes Against Humanity by auwal87(op): 8:45am On Aug 06, 2013
AMSTERDAM (AP) — The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court says that after a preliminary investigation she believes that acts attributed to the Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram are likely crimes against humanity.

“Information available provides a reasonable basis to believe that since July 2009 Boko Haram has launched a widespread and systematic attack that has resulted in the killing of more than 1,200 Christian and Muslim civilians in different locations throughout Nigeria,” Fatou Bensouda wrote in a report issued Monday.

She said the potential crimes against humanity include murder and persecution. But she said she will only move to a full-fledged investigation after further study and depending on whether Nigerian authorities themselves are willing and able to prosecute “those who appear to bear the greatest responsibility.”

Her report was based on evidence gathered through December 2012.

Nigeria declared a state of emergency on May 14 to fight an Islamic uprising by militants in the northeast who want to impose Islamic law across a country divided almost equally between the predominantly Muslim north and mainly Christian south.

Boko Haram’s center of power is in the northeast, but last month Nigeria’s army arrested 42 suspected Islamic extremists in the southwest states of Lagos and neighboring Ogun.

Bensouda noted that while that Nigerian government forces may also have violated human rights while conducting operations against Boko Haram, as of December 2012 there was no evidence they were targeting civilians.

The International Criminal Court is the world’s permanent war crimes court, established in The Hague, Netherlands in 2002. The prosecutor’s office formally launched its investigation into the situation in Nigeria in November 2010.

PoliticsRe: Army Soldiers Force Muslim To Drink Gutter Water Creates Problems In North by auwal87(m): 10:11am On Aug 05, 2013
Unfortunately, some people will still find a justification for this killing.

Well let me tell you something, if you justify this killing by the force, then those killing in the name of Islam, aka Boko Haram and Ansaru can also justify their killings.

One thing for sure is, both are killing people without Justification, but when the person killed is from a particular ethnic group, that killing is justified.

Nigerians are very funny sha, anything goes.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Leader Shekau Has Fled Nigeria, Escorted By " White Men "? by auwal87(op): 7:54pm On May 23, 2013
KnowAll: since they were not speaking Arabic were they then speaking your so called "white language" if there is anything like that, having said that every one knows Shekarau can only speak Hausa, Arabic and maybe Kanuri would it not be more plausible that he was with white men he understands their languages which again points to Arabians not necessary Europeans or Americans.!!! huh
Well, the description was for the colour, not the race of the people seen, as the witness pointed. Haven't you seen Shekau's video speaking in English before? He do understand some little English, both his Arabic and English skills are very poor.

KnowAll: So Arabs don't wear suit and trousers huh undecided which kind thinking be this one!!! huh
They do, but it is easy to identify them as just "white men" not necessarily Americans or Europeans, it might be anybody. But the fact that they are not seen dressed as Arabs no one can say if they are Arabs unless they were heard talking in Arabic.

Suits and trouser is to white men, robes and Jalabiyya is to arabs, so "white men" is the appropriate term to describe them I think.
PoliticsBoko Haram Leader Shekau Has Fled Nigeria, Escorted By " White Men "? by auwal87(op):
The Leader of the dreaded terrorist organisation popularly known as Boko Haram has fled the country last Monday. In what appears to be his Facebook profile, the leader’s last current location was at Diffa Airport, in Niger Republic. If the profile is indeed for the leader of Boko Haram, so many questions will arise, such as why the Government was unable to track him down using the several locations posted on the profile. There are also strong indications that the leader was picked up in a Military plane to an unknown destination.

An official at the Airport who decline to be named said he saw group of people being leaded by some “white” men escorted to a Military aeroplane. Nobody was able to question them where they were heading to. But from all indications, officials at the Airport knew who he was before boarding the plane with registration number N922NE.

PoliticsRe: 2015:Nigerdelta Oil Belong To The North, We Will fight for it -- Farouk Aliyu by auwal87(m): 3:28pm On May 15, 2013
Nashville: I thought we practised Federalism. Nigeria can only exist as a country if we practiced Federalism. Nigeria's foundation was on the premise of federalism and that is what can restore peace. That was the agreement between the founding fathers.

I believe states and regions should country 60% of their resources and send only 40% to the Federal government. It will force each region to become hard working and not depend on Oil money. You can imagine this man who has done nothing to develop his own state laying claim to Niger Delta Oil. Just sad.
I actually think 25% should go to the Federal Government while the remaining 75% to the state/region. This is fair. After all, the Federal institutions are bunch of useless buildings full of useless people doing useless things.

I am actually supporting the scrapping of Nigeria.

The majority of posters here qualifies to be far more worst than BH members, words like "kill them all", "finish them all", "burn their mosques and islamic schools" etc etc. These words are coming from the so called "civilised people of Nigeria" and they are wannabe presidents, governors, senators, reps, ministers, etc. I pity this country as much as I pity those inciting the above words, as they have shown how cruel and barbaric they can be if given the chance, imagine if some of them are among the military deployed to Borno or Yobe. I am so so disappointed with the so called "civilised people of Nigeria".

Actually, the population can be close to or even more than 180m now. A politician will never tell people that Nigeria is indeed not as wealthy as people thought it is because he is indirectly telling them that he has failed from the start. But if the truth will be told, Nigeria's oil wealth cannot cater for the needs of every Nigeria, but it can definitely cater for the country's ailing infrastructures that is dilapidating every day.

IslamGumi: Suicide is The Surest Way To Hell by auwal87(op): 2:33pm On Apr 14, 2013
Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi shared this on his Facebook page.

The prophet – Salawatullahi alaihi- is a mercy for mankind. He said the way to Paradise is easy for those that follow his path. He said: “everybody in my Ummah is going to enter the paradise except he who refuses. They said (the companions): oh messenger of Allah, who will refuse? He said: whoever obeys me enter the paradise and whoever disobeys me he has indeed refused” Al-Bukhari.

Despite this ease of entering the Paradise, those that commit suicide for whatever reason have guaranteed for themselves the Hell Fire forever. Anas said: “ if not for my hearing the prophet – alaihis Salam- saying: Do not wish for death I would wish for it” Al-Bukhari. People are forbidden to wish for death talks less of committing suicide. Islam is a practicable religion. We are required to do what we can do and leave the rest to the Al-Mighty. “So fear Allah As much As ye can; listen and obey and spend In charity for the benefit of your own soul and those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- They are the ones that achieve prosperity.” Q64/16.

Whoever therefore will be taken by fanaticism or sickness or depression to kill himself, he has condemned himself to eternity in the Hell fire, May Allah Save us from it. Muslim narrated from Abu Huraira who said: the messenger of Allah said: “whoever will kill himself with an iron, then he would be tormented with his iron in his hand injuring his belly continuously in Hell Fire forever. And whoever will drink poison and then kill himself, he will continue sipping the poison in the Hell fire forever. And whoever fall from a rock then kills himself, He will continue falling in the Hell fire forever”.

Whoever, will explode himself with explosive for whatever reason or disguise will also continue to be in his explosion in hellfire forever. This is what the hadith teaches; suiciders are tormented with the same means they employ to kill themselves.

Today we see young men killing themselves with explosives in the name of Jihad yet they never reflect that those ‘leaders’ that send them to such adventure never commit suicide nor send their children to commit it.

My brothers and sisters, nobody should deceive you to take your own life. Real Jihad is fought to either win or get the martyrdom. The shahada is gotten when killed by the enemy action. Allah said: “Let those Fight In the cause of Allah who sell the life of This world for the Hereafter. to Him who fighteth In the cause of Allah,- whether He is slain or gets victory - soon shall we give Him a reward of great (value). ” Q4/74.

May Allah continue to guide us all to the straight path. Ameen.

I think more than half of Nigeria's population will be residents of Abuja and Lagos if State of Residency is introduced and State of Origin is abolished. Nigerians always want to associate themselves with the most popular places, and Abuja and Lagos are more easily identifiable than any other state in Nigeria. Back to the question, Where will you reside?
