Messi gives away a couple of goals himself. Case in point - one of the goals that sank us against Levante. He rarely chases down opposition. We would be under attack from oppositions and Messi would be seen strolling away, head bent down. No player will be motivated to see his captain that way in a match of importance.

And if your best player and captain does that, whose job is it to chastise and correct him? Have u seen coaches like Zidane, Guardiola, Simeone, Tuchel etc react to goal or/and chance-missed before? You see it on their faces and actions. They stand on the touchline giving instructions especially in big games. Koeman needs to do more in this aspect, not sitting down and writing names of noise makers in his jotter.

Well, obviously his goals, assists etc are no longer enough for us otherwise we should be winning important matches and celebrating more titles. He must do more in leadership.

Now I don't agree with this summation. Messi has been all for this team for so many seasons consequtively. Performing at the top level back to back even in his worst season.

Being an introvert does not have anything to do with his performance, afterall he had been a quiet fellow even in the Guardiola/Enrique era and then we were winning all winnables.

My point is that - most of the goals that crushed us this season are counters and defensive blunders, you don't expect a striker captain to be on the ball and controlling the defense same time. The coach should in those situations be signalling or controlling his defenders on their positioning. For example, If Alba overlaps as usual who moves backward to cover for him (tactics), not error prone lenglet of course.

I still think Koeman can be a massive success at Barcelona. His substitutions may not have worked well because most of the time the players coming in does not have what it takes to improve the team. We have seen lots of team performance collapse after substitutions were made even though it was a like-for-like substitution. Example replacing a right back with another.

And most of other time, we do not have finishers. We generate alot of chances but fail to score them but then concede once the opponent generate their first chance. These are signs of feeble team who need proper re-engineering. These signs have been their since 2017. Weak mentality. It won't vanish over night until we dismiss about 75% of this current squad.

Despite the numerous short comings of Koeman, if Barcelona fail to tremendously renovate this group of players we currently have, I will say we won't improve much, no matter which coach we have.

About 75% of players in this current squad are playing at a very very low level and I don't think they can give more than that. They are simply players not good enough for the shirt.

If you hadn't included excuses for Koeman, I would have agreed with you all the way about players playing at a very low level.

However, coaching tactics, motivation and on-the-field formation flexibility to counter opponents tactics also have a lot to do with success, not forgetting right substitutions.

How many times have you seen Koeman shouting or signalling instructions to his players from the sidelines?
