Politics / Warning: Abakaliki And Imo State Miscreants Creating Problems In Anambra State by Awka360: 10:56am On Apr 08, 2022
The jobless youths of these states are currently in Anambra and fueling crises. Some are online in faraway Lagos and beating the drums of war on our land. The ones who are here with us are jobless boys, mostly made up of cultists and touts moving around causing violence in Anambra state. Charles Soludo must buckle up and send these miscreants back to their states enough of the pampering, enough of the committees, enough of the dialogue. Ndi Anambra are being threatened in their motherland by these foreign miscreants and they go about recruiting our youths in furtherance of the violence going on in Anambra state.
These boys are also part of the touts disengaged from harassing innocent drivers and passengers on illegal tax. And most of them have vowed to join non state actors on unleashing mayhem on our land. The big men behind the illegal taxations are not left out and must be brought to book.
Security must be mounted in border areas of the state. This is important because every tom dick and harry are trooping in to the state to escalate violence.
Soludo must sit up. Ndi Anambra are not known for violence,we are peace loving people and enterprising.

Politics / The Hunger And Hardship In The East Is On An Astronomical Increase by Awka360: 3:54pm On Apr 05, 2022
This thread isn't for you to come here and play politics nor counter the current hunger in the east. This info is first hand, there's real poverty being created by heartless people who call themselves igbos. The east is worst hit because the Nigeria economy is already on a collapse and then the Eastern economy woes added. pls if u have anyone doing business in the east always call them and say a word of prayer for them. Its currently not easy for business people not to talk of artisans who depend on daily jobs to eat.
If you're igbo wherever you are just pray for southeast and stop adding to her problems.

Politics / Re: Anambra Agbero Extortions And Protesting Tricycle Operators by Awka360: 4:07pm On Jan 23, 2022
Why is Govt still keeping quiet about all these illegal extortions? Is this how to generate revenue? Revenue that finally ends up in the pockets of state thieves?
These set of agberos will still come out tomorrow to shout no good roads in Anambra, poor infrastructure etc but they stand on the road doing illegal extortions from every commercial riders.
One would ask, where then is the money going to?
Good roads we no see.
Pipe borne water we no see.
Infrastructure we no see.
Affordable transportation we no see.

Of a truth the spate of Agbero extortions in Onitsha and Awka axis has tripled the cost of transportation. Passengers now pay more due to the excess and illegal tax these jobless guys collect and threaten them for. A journey of #100 last year has been hiked to #300. A journey of #50 has been hiked to #200. Why? Because of Agberos aka street touts.

Meanwhile, fuel is still being sold at #165 cry

What will then happen when Bubu finally ends fuel subsidy?

I know of some Agberos that resume work everyday in Awka. They live in Onitsha and resume agberoism in the state capital. They look richer and neater than big business men. Why is the govt doing this to us?
Can’t we have a better society?
Is this how Biafra will look like?

South East speak out..you’re not dumb!!!

Politics / Anambra Agbero Extortions And Protesting Tricycle Operators by Awka360: 4:04pm On Jan 23, 2022
Commercial activities were grounded in Onitsha, Anambra State as tricycle operators protested alleged extortion and brutality in the hands of touts and revenue collectors.

The group, known as Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, also blocked major roads in the city on Saturday.

The protest also followed the alleged multiple stabbing of a tricycle operator on the Awka road by a revenue collector.

The group lamented that their sufferings in the hands of the touts were becoming unbearable and called on the state government to come to their rescue by deploying security personnel to the area.

The protest started about 12.30pm and lasted several hours while they blocked the Main Market road, Awka Road, New Cemetary Road, Old Cemetary Road, Old Enugu Road, and other exits and entry points into Onitsha.

Addressing journalists, the spokesman for the group, Mr David Emmanuel, said that they had taken enough humiliation from both legal and illegal revenue collectors in the state.

He added that they pay between N4,500 N8,000 to the revenue collectors apart from the N350 daily dues they pay to the Anambra State Government.

Emmanuel lamented that while they had nothing to show for their daily efforts, the revenue collectors and thugs smiled home with huge sums of money.

He said, “We wondered why even after such money is collected from us, they beat and wound us, you dare not question their identity. Several complaints we made to the Anambra State Ministry of Transport did not yield any result.

“We pay money to a group, before you move an inch, another group will stop you and if you question them, they would start beating you, using all types of weapons against you, that is one of the causes of today’s protest, they have killed and given life threatening injuries to our members just because we want to know who we are giving our money.

“We give money to people we don’t know who they are working for, all they know is for you to give them money, that is not covered by receipt, and some operate with receipts we do not know their source.

Do you know that Marker Pen is used to collect money from tricycle operators in Anambra State, a genuine agent use receipt to collect money, you give him money and he gives you receipt, but in Anambra State, particularly, Onitsha, people use Marker pen, and tick good or sign signature on the windscreen of your tricycle and collect between N300 to N500 per trip depending on the route you ply.

“We don’t go home with anything after daily settling of both legal and illegal revenue agents, we will not leave the roads until government come and address and hear us, they pretend not to know what we are going through because it is the monster they created that is working against us.

“We are practically working for these criminal revenue agents who hide under working for government to extort all sums of money from us. We are busy working, toiling under the sun and rain and illegal revenue agents are forcefully collecting our money and drinking beer in our presence with our money.

“They dress better than us, they wear the beat shirts and shoes with money they forcefully collect from us. Today, we say enough is enough and we will not accept their intimidation, harassment and in most cases killing of our members any longer.”

Due to the protests, residents resorted to trekking to their various destinations as the situation led to a standstill on all the major roads.

The State Media Coordinator, TOAN, Mr Uzir Uzir, confirmed that the tricycle operators grievances were genuine and called on relevant authorities to look into their plight.

Efforts to get the reaction of the police spokesman, Mr Ikenga Tochukwu, proved abortive as he did not respond to messages sent to his phone as of the time of sending this report.

Politics / The IPOB Sit At Home Order And The Changes It Caused In The East In 2021 by Awka360: 11:20am On Jan 13, 2022
Most of us travelled down East during the Yuletide period and met a different region from what we use to know. Some people couldn’t ball the way they used to because of the rate of crime and political unrest currently going on in the East. Will be highlighting the biggest events of the East and its effects.

One of the biggest event that took place in Nigerian in the heat 2021 is that of the IPOB sit at home order. This event caused a huge change especially amongst the Eastern part of Nigeria.

August 9, 2021, a day Nigerians in the east would not forget so easily. It was the day the Indigenous people of Biafra decided that every Monday would be declared Ghost Monday, or sit at home Monday.

The Indigenous people of Biafra decided to sit at home every Monday as a way of Solidarity to their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. They promised to sit at home every Mondays until Nnamdi Kanu gets released. This was because Nnamdi Kanu was detained by the federal Government of Nigeria.

Below are a few changes in the East that made this one of the biggest event in 2021,

1. Increase in price of goods and services

During the sit at home in the east, the prices of goods and services increased drastically. The poor people were finding it hard to feed, this happened because traders could not go to the market on Mondays to buy goods.

Since the demand for goods and services by the people became high, traders saw it as an opportunity to increase their goods. The sit at home also affected the importation of food from other states, this is because majority of people were unable to trade mondays.

2. Loss of lives and properties

The sit at home order also led to alot of lives being loss, and alot of properties getting destroyed. This was due to the attack on citizens that refused to sit at home on Mondays.

There were various reports by different Media houses of cars getting burnt because they refused to sit at home.

3. Change in the Educational System in the East

The IPOB sit at home also affected the education system and school time table in the east. Alot of kids had to stop going to school on Mondays in other to be safe. Even exams that were scheduled on Mondays had to be moved because of the order.

Different schools had to make a readjustment to their school calendar and scrap off Mondays from their time tables.

4. Business Men and traders also lost alot of money during the sit at home. This is because Mondays are known as the busiest day of the week, and these traders were denied the right to trade on Mondays.

The IPOB sit at home definitely changed alot in the East, even though the sit at home order has reduced, some things are yet to go back to normal.

Politics / Touts In Awka Begins Collection Of Christmas/New Year Levies From Shop Owners by Awka360: 12:44pm On Jan 01, 2022
Lawlessness is a breeding ground for crime. There's a worrying situation in Awka currently between shop owners around the Eke Awka axis(Amikwor village) as shop owners are being forced by touts to give them Christmas dues. Whatever that means.
So many shop owners around Dike street and those close to the market in Awka have lamented how these jobless boys moved round since 27th Dec,2021 distributing papers and receipts collecting monies from shop owners which they referred to as 'Christmas ndi ogbe'. Some were given levies of #1000,#2000 to be paid or face harassment from the boys.
One would be left to wonder what the state government is doing about the growing menace of touts and their activities in the state capital. A shop owner was seen lamenting on how these touts do not allow businesses to grow..they tax everything taxable through bullying until the business is on a verge of collapsing. Some shop owners who cant withstand them have had to shut down their businesses to other areas free of touts.
These touts are mostly seen around the market area and motor park areas harassing people going about their legal work.
The government should sit up and address this menace.

What is really happening in Awka?
Are the security operatives becoming to docile?

Politics / Rumored Sit-At-Home: What Is The Sit At Home For Tomorrow? by Awka360: 7:33pm On Nov 29, 2021
There’s a rumored sit at home tomorrow all over south east.when you ask these emissaries what the sit at home tomorrow being Tuesday is for again..they can’t tell. Some will start releasing gunner from their mouth.

Since the first sit at home started, the once vibrant economy of the south East region has being diminishing; people have been living from hand to mouth, wasted rents of shops here and there, events had taken different turns, the region is already tiring, more youths are getting frustrated and some have now resorted to drug abuse which is now prevalent in the region.

Now I want to ask the Nairaland online Ipob chapter,if they are aware of the rumored sit at home? If yes, what is it for?

Yes I said do not come home for Christmas because you will regret it. Infrastructure are falling off..no good roads. Gridlock everywhere, the good roads are blocked by security due to fear of attacks on their facilities and personnel(they are not to blame);they’ve got families too.
Our mothers and fathers now come back home with serious body pains due to long hours of sitting in gridlock for journeys that usually take 5-10mins.
You will suffer on the roads even if u have a private car. The current access roads which ain’t tarred are filled with new gullies and gallops. Shuttling around the state capital is a No No...will get even worse at the Yuletide period.

Politics / Suffering In The East Is On Another Level by Awka360: 8:35am On Nov 14, 2021
If you live in the East currently u will agree with me our people are really going through hell. The effect of IPOB and security forces violence over the past few months has left Easterners in a pit of suffering.

A great example is in Anambra state, currently the only road leading to other towns from the state capital which houses the security parastatals like State CID,Immigration,Police Quarters is currently blocked because of fear of the rampaging unknown gunmen. This has forced all commercial buses and private vehicles to take another route in which the alternative roads are nothing to write home about. These routes located in Amawbia already have their roads depleting; some already turning into small gullies. It will take the 2022 rainfall to further deepen the gullies.

Commercial drivers and their passengers who have to bear the pains of driving through these alternate bad roads have never had good things to say about the state of the roads in the capital.

Transport fares also didn’t fail to shoot by 200%. A journey which usually takes 5mins now take 30mins. A journey of 5mins which was usually charged for 50 naira earlier this year has gone so high as 150 naira.

The people are not finding it funny on these bad roads. And worse is that the traffic gridlock on these alternate bad routes is on another level.

Now that the Anambra elections are over,We call on the Commissioner of Police of Anambra state and the govt to please open the major road which accommodates commercial vehicles and passengers,so as to ease the suffering of the people or better still fix the alternative routes.

IPOB should also get sense by now. South Easterners are suffering. And if you’re planning on coming home this December,it is better you remain wherever you are because things ain’t so rosy down here. No roads, traffic gridlock everywhere, road blocks by Security forces.

Politics / IPOB Sit At Home Or Not...Anambra Indigenes Had Prepared To Vote. by Awka360: 8:28pm On Nov 04, 2021
IPoB should sit this one out. The heavy turn ups in our various INEC centers across the state were so encouraging that Anambra dared the trouble makers of the state to try them on Saturday.

Community Vigilantes members along side federal and state forces were ready to protect voters from their various communities come Saturday.

Anambrarians no longer take the useless decrees and irrational orders of the troubled organization called IPOB serious. This is because since their razzmatazz they’ve only succeeded in bringing hardship and suffering to the land. Prices of items has skyrocketed due to insecurity in the land. Transport companies are losing huge amount of money,,transport fares keep skyrocketing each day. Anambra people have boldly said, enough is enough!

Anambra Decides 2021 it is.

Politics / Re: What Is Really Going On In Anambra State These Days? by Awka360: 9:58am On Oct 31, 2021
Listen and listen carefully

The current hottest places in Anambra as I type now are:

Awka(state capital)~cultist disturbances
Okpuno axis of Awka~cultist disturbances
Amikwor (Awka)~cultist disturbances
Ifiite Awka~cultist disturbances
Border towns of Anambra~Ipob and Nigeria security forces

Onitsha ain’t even as hot as the state capital...Onitsha is cool.

Cult killings here and there in d state capital...gangs moving up and down. The situation in Anambra currently seems like some touts, cultists from other states were imported down to Anambra.

Anambra State never had these cult disturbances in previous govt...this govt just licensed thuggery and cultism and now pple can’t sleep in peace in a whole state capital.

Towns like Amawbia, nawfia, nise,Nibo,Abagana,EnuguUkwu, nimo etc in Anambra are more serene and safest than than even d state capital.

Movt around the state capital is a bit restricted. The only major road which houses prison, immigration,SCID is blocked because of security. And coupled with no good motorable roads in d state capital pple are made to pay through their nose for a journey which usually takes a short period of time.

Awka to Nibo is 200 before 100
Awka to Agulu is 300 before 150
Awka to Amawbia is 150 before 50
Awka to Enugukwu 150 before 100
Awka to Abagana 200 before 100
Awka to nkpor 300
Awka to Onitsha 400

Poor Masses especially in d state capital are suffering and still smiling. December looks gloomy already for them.Life is currently hard for the pple dwelling in d so called state capital because everything has trippled. Food prices, rents soaring higher.
It’s best to say that the emergence of unknown gunmen,Ipob, security forces, rising case of cultism has made life more difficult for the poor masses who just want to live,do business and relax.

Note: This is a people’s view on the current happenings in Anambra

Politics / South East: Traders Groan Over Low Patronage by Awka360: 9:35pm On Sep 22, 2021
As the fourth quarter of 2021 gradually winds up. Traders in the highly enterprising region of Nigeria groan seriously over low business patronage and poor sales.
