@erico2k2 and mikkko, hi, when you say the home office applied for your hearing to be reviewed, what do you mean?

the determination of my appeal was allowed the 21st of May but i don't know if a copy has been sent to their home office here,

please keep us informed on any developments.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries by awoll(f): 11:41am On Jun 06, 2009
hi uchehendaz,

i know of just one sponsorship form. have it filled. then shed some light on your present situation, like if you are still schooling in the other country, and if you're on holiday which u should prove,

yes, i guess u use your bankstatement if you find that your status in the other country allows for you to have visiting time.

else, you can use yours from here or any of your parents or guardians/sponsor from here,

thats 1 sponsor here, and 1 from the uk, explain extensively where given the chance.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries by awoll(f): 9:36pm On Jun 04, 2009
@uchehendaz,

for visiting, i think u will need copies of ur sponsor's bank statements and payslips for the last 6 months, utility bills-electricity, phone, passport data page and an invitation letter, ur sponsor might want to fill a sponsorship form he/she can print out from d ukvisas' site and scan to you after filling.

An itinery will just explain how u plan to spend ur holiday eg places u'l visit,
its not compulsory that u have 1 though its good that u just do it to avoid loopholes, also, add urs or a parent's bank statement from here too. wish u luck.

@lanrenz,

there's nothing wrong when an officer representing the home office doesn't show up, they often don't, and the hearing goes on as it normally should,

don't worry.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries by awoll(f): 12:22am On Jun 03, 2009
hi uchehendaz,

The workingholidaymaker visa has been scrapped off the uk immigration non-settlement types, but what you might want next might be the YOUTH MOBILITY SCHEME,

Though it's advisable that you apply for a six-months visiting visa if its going to be your first time,

Check the website: www.ukvisas.gov.uk to see which tier points-based system you meet,

I wish you the best.

hi mj2008,

how are u? what's the situation with your progress now? was a copy of your determination faxed or emailed to the embassy here in lagos? or would we have to do teither of that? i haven't received an actual copy now, just that my sister scanned me copies of it,

what do we expect next? i heard it takes from four to six weeks before they call? true?

just checking, anyways, keep me informed, thanks, and God bless,

TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 2:15pm On Apr 27, 2009
ok MJ2008, thanks alot but i really didnt understand ur msg,

will it make sense that i dont have a certificate for a program i will have completed?

what will u suggest we do? any need mentioning that i'v started at all?

and when you say if i want my intentions known to the judge? i don't really understand,

what would you do in my shoes? i intend to come back for school but what strong reason reason or commitment can i present for the assurance of returning?
TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 6:36pm On Apr 25, 2009
thanks MJ, my sister submitting bank statements and the likes will only justify d fact that i won't rely on public funds,

they always want to see reason that any applicant applying for a non-settlement visa has commitments back home,

and since i'm already doing that which i meant to do at d expiration of my visa (nysc) and rounding up in july, what chances do i have? cuz nw, her stating that will leave no other strong hold to returning back,

thanks,
TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 4:31pm On Apr 25, 2009
wow, congrats MJ2008! this is a big step for u, nice one,

does it mean that after the judge gives a decision, d ECO doesn't necessarily have to appeal against it?

i'v completed my studies here in nigeria and am almost completing my nysc exercise, i applied for the working holiday maker visa and my reason for coming back at the end of my stay was that i hadnt done nysc and wl have to have completed it b4 i turn 30, but when they refused me the 1st, then 2nd time, i applied to be called up,

now, d appeal statement has it as d main reason for me returning at d end of d visa if given me, but my sister, who'll be representing me wants to say i'm almost through with the exercise, and that she will instead, stand as a guarantor for me,

what do u advise? congrats once again, we'l still appreciate that u update us with the processes and developments u encounter right until u'v left nigeria, ok?

thanks!
TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 2:45pm On Apr 25, 2009
@all, my sister says she plans to tell the judge that she'll stand as a guarantor seeing that i return at the end of my visa, what do u think?

TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 10:53pm On Apr 23, 2009

TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 2:53pm On Apr 22, 2009
ok royalboy, you have a point there, about them being able to claim family ties with my sister on my behalf thus having the intent of remaining there even when my visa expires, as for the oral hearing, i see that as wise, besides, most appeal cases i'v heard of were done with d oral hearing cuz they stood better chances of winning as many of these judges are compassionate and are most likely to agree with the rep's view of why the appellant should be granted entry(with all genuine docs)instead of a paper hearing, i doubt that entry clearance officers go through applications thoroughly, they just decide whether or not they are happy, and apply that to the lucky or less-lucky application they handle at each point in time,

i wish myself the best anyways

Nairaland GeneralAttn! My Appeal Hearing Is In 10 Days! Pls Advise Everybody: by awoll(op): 1:19am On Apr 20, 2009
hi every one, i posted a similar topic with the same story you're going to hear 2 days ago but its really cuz i can't find it!

ok, the hearing of appeal case is just around the corner, i was denied d WHMvisa twice so decided not too reapply but appeal as i was given the right, one of the major reasons i gave for coming back at the end of my visa if i was given is that i had not participated in the compulsory 1yr NYSC program. at the time of the 2nd visa application's denial, i had been calld up for the batch 'b' exercise, and il be rounding up in july,

now, my sister is going to be my representative at the hearing and she plans to tell the judge that i'm almost completing the exercise!
i'm a bit worried cuz asides strong family ties, d aforementioned reason is only only major one i gave, she says she'l make it known that she'll be standing as a guarantor(she's british by birth),

noting that this visa category(WHM) among others have been scrapped off, the positive outcome(in my favor of going to the uk)of the appeal will be a good chance to visit my sister, holiday &work when need be, the new immigration rules for various categories including visiting are just nerve-cracking!!
please &please, advise on this issue so we know what to do and represent the case in the utmost manner, we have all genuine supporting documents for backing, and i know my sister will speal well for me, i just want to know what will be more appropriate and justifiable in the judge's court.

all suggestions will be highly appreciated,

please, i await your quick replies in earnest,

thanks.

oh, i laughed when i saw this, first time i'm hearing of its kind, its a good thing that nigeria is wanting to prove its true worth and do the right thing by checkmating wanting areas like these,

let due process be followed no matter who's involved, i'm sure dan would have gotten good advice even upon leaving so he has nothing to worry about,

oya my pple, i have a post on the uk travels' appeals' board,

check me out and advice on what to do cuz i have less than two weeks for my appeal hearing, shocked shocked shocked

all suggestions will be welcome and appreciated,   i wait in earnest, smiley smiley

God bless u all
TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 10:10pm On Apr 16, 2009
and yes, apart from strong family ties here in nigeria, that was the only other strong reason i could give, smiley smiley smiley

advice ooo, so we know what do in time, comments and advices will highly be appreciated!!!

God bless you all
TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 10:05pm On Apr 16, 2009
hi mr pataki, funkybaby, mr crackles, akolawole, yettidear and everyone else,

i await my hearing which is in less than two weeks, but just thinking that one conctrete i gave for returning at the expiration of my visa is to return to partake in the compulsory 1-yr nysc exercise,

now, i'm almost completing my exercise, i applied to be mobilised when i was refused the visa, now, my sister is going to representing me before the immigration judge,

i'v thought questions on this issue will arise in different ways like

i) if my sister doesnt mention anything about me doing nysc, they might ask what it is i'v been doing all the while,

ii) if she tells them i'm already involved in the exercise as she plans to do, they might see no other concrete reason for me coming back at the end of my stay,

and though she might tell them that i have done the compulsory part of the 3-weeks camp but they will note that i stated that NYSC is a compulsory 1 year program,

i don't know what to do so i ask for your advice as the hearing is in less than two weeks, and winning it is going to be a thing of joy as it will be coming at the right time, i conclude the nysc program in july,

my representative is going to tell them i'm already doing nysc but how would she argue that i actually will return at the end of my visa timehuh?

EVERYONE smiley smiley smiley

THANKS ALREADY

@mj2008,

great, now i'v heard from someone who is actually post-hearing phasical, nice, my hearing date comes up at the end of the month, wat do i expect after?

na true say eco fit appeal against the judge's decision? cuz what i read on the home office website in the appeals' section only states that the judge makes his decision known to the concerned parties ten days after the actual hearing but no talk about it been contested for any reason afterwards,

pls, be sure to update ur status and ANY developments as it'll guide our thoughts and part expectations.

wish u the best in ur outcome,

these uk visa tier rules are so demanding!!! shocked how person go do?, the problem is, no matter how many times you read the requirements, you actually don't get the real picture!!! too confusing too, all of them, tier 0, grin

@funkybaby, londoncool and the pioneers, read my story and advise, i hope these tiers won't affect my appeal, cuz i already filed like three days before news of the changes were made public,

thanks,
TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 10:16pm On Mar 29, 2009
@anyone who's been through and out with the appeal process,

i applied for the working holiday maker visa last yr and was denied, i did a second time correcting faults the eco found in my application but was denied a second time though i was given a right to appeal, i filed my appeal sometime in november last year before the new cases of their confusing 'tiers' were brought up, even that category which i applied for was scrapped off alongside others,

my sister who's resident in the uk is going to be my representative and she's been given a hearing date for sometime in april,

i'v also been going through appeal testimonies and talks here on nairaland and learnt that most appeal cases are successful which is good but i also learnt that even in all cases when the judge rules in favour of the appellant, a period of mybe 20 or 28 days(not sure) is given for the eco to either or not, appeal against the judge's decision,

what i want to know is how often is it that these people appeal against such decisions? and how long really does it take for a decision to be taken after the actual hearing?

i'll appreciate your answers,

thanks,

and hey, while you're at it, be sure to get a filled sponsorship form from your cousin in the uk also his payslips and bank statement, even though he won't directly be responsible for your family's welfare, i read somewhere that it's a necessity to have the sponsorship check now, check out www.ukvisas.gov.uk and www.ukvac-ng.com, i hope you will find good info you might need, even other links to sites that have help on appeal processes, etc.

@obamania

hi. its a good decision you've made, send all your papers to the AIT office in the uk including those you might find helpful even though you did't submit them initially, i scanned all my documents to my sister who will be representing me there, i have read somewhere that the ECO overturns his decision sometimes or even at the end of the day, appeals against your appeal shocked if he chop belle full, then you're back to square one!!!, it's good to have a representative you can trust, one who'd in your best interest, fight for your cause, i hear the lawyers there are quite expensive, i wish you the best, i only know so much as to the point at which i'm at now i.e waiting for the ECO here in lagos to send my appeal bundle to the AIT office after which a hearing date for my case will be fixed,

i know for sure that most appeal cases are won just that it takes time(4-6months)- which discourages people but when you think about the cash used in applying each time with the ECO just writing whatever he likes at the end of the day depending on his mood is just overwhelming, that's why you're always advised to reapply while you appeal, and pray!!!

keep us posted on different levels of any development u encounter oo. all the best.
