Thanks to naijaforeigner ( I hope I got the moniker right), I asked the immigration guy to give me a study permit that will let me work on and off the campus and he did.

This is why this forum is available, to prevent some of us coming from making mistakes others did.

My meal during my wait at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

P.S I purged after all the meals Ethiopian Airline served me. The flight was great nonetheless and the entertainment awesome as well.

Hello from Canada, my people. I just touched down Toronto Pearson few minutes ago. I tried my best to document my journey in pictures.

It likely will. You’ll have to remain hopeful. There are places where you can apply and get your International passport within hours. You should have waited but since the deed is done, when your passport is ready you can email the admission office and inform them that you have an additional document to submit.

Horlamidei:
Please guys, i applied to 2 colleges due to my low cgpa for fall semester. As we all know reg for fall semester closes soon or is already closed. During my reg, i reached the stage of doc upload in which i did except for passport upload in which am yet to get. Instead of uploading my passport, i uploaded my passport photograph so as to enable me finish and submit my application. Please will this affect my addmission process as am yet to get my passport or what advise can you give please

Thank you chief.

Frankrobbn1:
This is actually not a problem. It happens occasionally.

Send the E-MEDICAL SLIP the second time to Kenya (Nairobi) Immigration department via this email: nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca

The subject of the mail should bear URGENT, along side her FULL NAME, UCI NUMBER, APPLICATION NUMBER AND DATE OF BIRTH.

Also take advantage of THE NAIROBI WEBFORM

You should state in the mail that the applicant has already completed her medicals and attached is her E-medical slip. You would request that her medical result be appended with her application and updated on her MyCIC account within the shortest possible timeframe. Lastly, thank them for the success so far in the applicants application.

A friend applied last month with upfront medicals. She uploaded her slip but was surprised to get a medical invite this week. She has contacted IOM, but they insisted they have sent in her documents. Issue is, it’s not reflecting in her account. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on how to tackle this?

Use ilovepdfdotcome to compress files. Word is its the best PDF compressing tool. it reduces smaller than the rest and also allows you an opportunty to choose the quality of the document you want.

Mykaelolalekan:
Please I need help. My bank statement with my landed documents are 35 pages approximately 16 MB. I have tried to compress it to 4 MB required but the quality is poor. Please can someone help

Please those who plan on travelling to and through Ethiopia via Ethiopia airlines are expected to declare the funds on them at Addis Ababa Bole International airport or risk having your money seized. I heard it on the radio and I thought to share.

No I don’t. Tuition varies from school to school. The only certainty is the living cost for a year wihich is 10,000CAD or 11,000 CAD (if your school is in Quebec).

Identify a school that offers the program you’ll like to study and find out how much their tuition fees are. That way you have a clearer picture of the financial involvement.

itisco:
Thanks bro.
Do you have any idea the figure it's going to cost for tuition and all other fees? Just a rough estimate will be highly appreciated.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 2:10pm On Mar 09, 2019
You’ll have to do a lot of reading. Go to previous parts of this thread and read. If you have any questions afterwards you can come back and ask.

By the way, how do you intend to sponsor yourself at 19? The visa officer will want to know the source of your funds.

itisco:
Hello there, please I'm quite new on here and would like to make enquiry as regards starting off my undergraduate studies in Canada. I plan on sponsoring myself financially. I need to know what are the things to do and things not to do. All the processes involved... I mean how do I go about studying in Canada? I'm presently 19yrs and a 400lv law student in OAU but really want to start all over again. Please I need someone to put me through. Thanks.

Get the most recent version of adobe reader, Foxit reader should do the trick. Download the forms even if they don’t open while you’re on the site. Go back to your desktop and open with the latest version of adobe reader you downloaded. This should resolve that issue.

AgroNACT:
Thank you so much for this detailed reply. i really appreciate it. I am still looking for a sponsor though, and i still have problem downloading the IMM forms. I was advised to go for Paper route, however, i am still open to suggestions.

You have to get to their site for you to contact them. There is a form you’re expected to fill. Please do not include confidential information. Here’s their number for a faster response. + 1 514 864-9191

I am really in a hurry!

School resumes in June and this is just CAQ!

What email do i use to reach them?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 9:17am On Mar 06, 2019
Why don’t you wait a little while. Hold on till Friday, if by then you still haven’t heard from them then you can reach out to them via mail.

sillysassysally:
Hi nairaland family,

I have a question to ask regarding the CAQ application process.

I have applied and sent out the supporting documents to Quebec. Yesterday afternoon, it was delivered to them. However, my portal has not been updated even till today. Who has an idea of how long it would take for them to update my portal that they have received the hard copy of my signed documents?

Words on marble.

Frankrobbn1:
Congrats Vikmeek, I can remember vividly some time last year when you came here seeking for counsel because your study visa was denied DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUNDS. It's good to know you exploited other alternatives and presently in a country as good as Canada. You're actually correct, everyone mustn't be in Canada. Sometimes we should be actually be grateful for some things don't work out the way we once wanted them to. When we get rejected, or we fail or things don't go our way. We feel we are farther away from our goal. However, sometimes its those moments that we have the greatest opportunity to reflect, refuel and refocus. If a door doesn't open, it's simply not your door. Often we are trying to climb latters that are not ours to climb. Is your dream really your dream? Are you chasing what you truly want?. Sometimes it takes a good fall to really know where you stand. Everytime we think we are being rejected for something good, remember you're just being redirected to something better. I wish people will know about this and make the most of it. I am not trying to discourage anyone out there from not trying, but the trial should be to an extent.

Good evening everyone, I will be arriving Canada in the last week of March to commence my masters program at the University of Windsor. A friend has offered to accommodate me for the first few nights. However, I’d like to get my accommodation sorted before arriving so as not to burden my friend but so far I haven’t had any luck. I have gone through kijiji still nothing has panned out.

Please If there is anyone arriving the same time or who is already there and is in need of a flatmate, I’d appreciate it if you contact me.

If there is also anyone arriving the same time and is in the same position as I am, contact me so we could get somewhere together and share.
The house should be furnished and close to the University, the person should be a male, neat & tidy and my budget is within CAD(350 - 500)/ month. Thank you guys. Have a blessed day.

No it isn’t. What you have is a study permit and not a work visa and as such you are expected to respect the conditions of your visa.

You can decide to work while pursing a degree, you are allowed to work a maximum of 20hrs/wk when school is in session and a few hours more when your school isn’t.
If you’re caught defaulting, you risk being deported.

Regards.

Hi guys,

Is it possible to defer my admission for a year or 6 months once I'm in Canada, work, make some money and then resume schooling?

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 10:45am On Jan 30, 2019
lol I prefer this type of waiting too.

How far with your application?

Ormohlawlah:
Lol,now I remember. You can go by April..I prefer this wait to waiting for application to be approved grin
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 10:27am On Jan 30, 2019
Yeah, it was approved November last year but classes don’t start until May 2019.
I’m counting down. The wait isn’t funny at all.

Ormohlawlah:
I thought your application was approved already?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 10:25am On Jan 30, 2019
No. However, If you can get your hands on a 6 month SOA, i’d advice you go for that.

Maxihyfr:
So submitting a 4months SOA won't be an issue then??
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 10:09am On Jan 30, 2019
Yeah. Been a while. Not in Canada yet, soon though.

Ormohlawlah:
Long time!!!! How's Canada?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 8:39am On Jan 30, 2019
Right.

Maxihyfr:
SOA to be presented is from 4-6months right??
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 8:39am On Jan 30, 2019
1. Well in that case he is actually a third party sponsor and it’ll be beneficial to you if he shows commitment by paying in the CAD10,000 for your living costs and part of your fees (optional). Also before any fees are paid be sure that your school has a refund policy and also confirm what percentage will be refunded.

2. In the absence of those documents you’ll have to do a really good job of convincing the VO of the source of the funds in your account. Go ahead and explain explicitly that you were productively busy during that period.

3. Yes it is and it is totally legal. Note that you have a maximum of 20hrs/week to work. Make sure you have enough funds for upkeep because it may take you a while to get a job depending on the province you find yourself and also you might be too involved in your academics to give your side job your best.

For the percentage of fees to be paid, that depends on your budget. Like I said earlier, make sure your school has a refund policy and also find out the percentage that will be refunded.

4. Check the first page of this part and read up on how to write a good SOP. Go through previous threads, draft your SOP and then come back and ask for it to be reviewed

The above is open for corrections and contributions from monikers more knowledgeable.

Regards.

Maestro001:
Thanks for your response:permit me to shed more light on some areas ;however

1.My sponsor is my father brother’s son which if I am not mistaken should be my cousin and I’m his cousin/nephew(I stand to be corrected);with that being said I guess he’s a close family member and not a third party so the funds should remain in his account isn’t it ??

2.Yes I am a sales person for the period of me being unemployed in any establishments and I have no documents to substantiate this claim because I just buy in local markets and resell to get profits which in turn is deposited into my account(my account is well over 1m).
Since I have no documents to back up my claims a a sales person during those two years ;can my bank statement suffice at this juncturehuh

3.Yes,study is my primary aim of applying and intend to work while schooling ;I hope that’s ok ??
Also;if I’m to pay part of my tuition fee;what percentage of it should be paid since I can pay in installments??

4.Do you have a template or sample of any statement of purpose I can use as a guide ??i will be very grateful to you if I can get any ;Also, owing to the SOP you mentioned purpose of visit;explain study gaps, why choosing Canada, home ties and how to survive in Canada without working ;How do one go about writing a good SOP that will convince the VO?Your kind help is highly welcomed.
