TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga:
1. If your sponsor is a third party sponsor then it is expected that he pays in your living costs for a year {CAD10,000} into your account and also pay in part of your fees. This shows how committed your sponsor is to you & your study plans. Please note, the living cost for a year {CAD 10,000} doesn’t necessarily have to be paid into your Dom account. The equivalent in naira could be paid into your naira account. Also paying part or all of your fees doesn’t guarantee anything, it just goes to show how committed your sponsor is.

If your sponsor is a close family member ( not a third part) then all the funds available can be left in his/her account, you’ll just have to state that in your statement of purpose (SOP).

2. Being unemployed for 2 years doesn’t call for a red flag, as long as you’ve been busy ( productively) in any manner. You can explain that you’re a sales person and also attach any document that can substantiate this claim. Include your statement of account, explain the salary wasn’t regular and attach any sales documents used during those two years.

3. I think you should tick ‘NO’ reason being, the VO knows if your application is approved, you will be allowed to work 20hrs/week when school is in session and more (40hrs) I’m guessing when the school isn’t. So studying is your primary aim for applying. I stand corrected.

4. The statement of purpose isn’t the same as the study/ student questionnaire. Difference is, the statement of purpose is written by the applicant explaining the purpose of visit, why he chose Canada, to explain study gaps, to explain and show home ties & also explain how he/she intends to survive in Canada without working WHILE the study questionnaire focuses mainly on your academic history and why you picked your preferred program.

I hope this helps. Goodluck.

Maestro001:
Hello please gurus in the house ;I got a few questions as regards the application;here they are:

1.While showing your proof of funds;is it compulsory that the applicant opens a dorm acct and the sponsor deposits the tuition fees plus the $10k Canadian dollars into account or is the sponsor’s statement of account enough to show proof of sufficient fundshuh

2.If the applicant hasn’t been employed for a little over 2years ;but has minor business he/she has been doing during this time frame;is that a red flag for a refusalhuh
N.B(Business don’t have a name;just a sales person and earnings doesn’t reflect on the applicant banks statements;except for normal deposits).

3.While filling the student permit form;is it ok to tick “YES” when asked if you will work in Canada?

4.Lastly,Is the statement of purpose the same as Student questionnaire huh

Your answers are all welcome;thanks .

While you’re waiting for your CAQ you should go through the earlier Parts (Part 1 - 15).
If you’ve any questions after you’re done you can go ahead and ask the platform.

obazi:
Please can somebody put me through how the way forward to get a study permit in canada. It looks like you didn’t show enough funds to cover your tuition and living costs for the duration of your study. Did you use a third party sponsor? Did you show enough funds?

Also what program are you going to study in Canada? Is it in line with your previous program of study? Looks like you didn’t convince the VO that there’ll be job openings available for someone with a degree in your preferred program.

Andrepete:
Someone please help me explain this o

domex007:
hi guys

i have been a nairaland follower since 2013.

I know i am not suppose to post this here but i just want to raise the hope of Nigerians seeking greener pastures abroad.
I also applied for CANADA VISA in 2016 but was denied. I DIDNT GIVE UP AS I AM IN NEW JERSEY NOW! Please DONT GIVE UP!
Please join me in thanking GOD for this testimony

i am sorry my testimony is coming late. i hope it helps raise the hope of Nigerian youths seeking greener pastures here.

My brief HIstory:
i have been denied USA student visa in 2013, 2014 and 2015
i then turned my dreams to canada in 2016 (paid my school fees in full and was still denied student visa in 2016 after waiting over 3months)
at this point my money was almost finished and my family started advising me to start studies here in nigeria
I also tried Germany in 2016 was also denied

i enrolled for yaba tech part time program while i also chased my travel dreams in Germany. i was also denied visa to germany because i couldn't raise the 8,800 euro blocked account.

at this point, i was frustrated and desperate, but the work load from yabatech and my business kept me from depression.

immediately, after my graduation in Yaba i decided to give USA one last trial knowing fully well that i will be denied but i kept on pushing forward

my interview went thus:
first, my interview was for 6;30 13th august 2018 but for the first time i got to the embassy very late and i was not scared or nervous. it rained heavily that day and the rain no pity me at all.
i just protected my documents and went it. i was very cold and feeling sick. i just wanted to do my interview and leave. i was bending down to make my self warm and was almost sleeping before the person behind me told me that it was my turn.

My interview was very long.........

my interview: (a Beautiful black american woman):
VO: Hi there. are you okay?
Me; Hi. yes i am fine. i am just cold. with fake smile on my face.
VO: oh okay why are you going to the USA?
Me; for my undergrad studies in Business Administration and management
VO: when did you finish high school?
Me; 2012
VO; what have you been doing since:
Me; I went for a computer diploma program for a year. then i started applying to Universities in US, Canada, Germany and Nigeria. Things didnt go as planned with the Abroad studies so i went for my National diploma in yaba that took me 4years.
VO: Why did you choose to continue studies in US? why not nigeria?
me: the educational system in nigeria is really poor even though it is affordable to study in nigeria. my program for example is suppose to be a program of 2 years but due to the strike and poor educational amenities it will take me longer time to graduate here in Nigerian university. And i believe in the proverb; "what is what doing is what doing well"
VO: Why do you Change your course?
Me; briefly after my studies i open a Human Hair Business with the financial assistance from my uncle but i need more board knowledge in the field of business. thats why i decided to change my program to help me business grow when i return to Nigeria.
VO:how many Universities did you apply to?
Me; A lot
VO; sorry i meant how many gave you admission?
Me: 6
VO: wow, name them
Me: saint peters University, University of central oklahoma,Troy University, University of manitoba, Canada. Conestoga College, Canada, and the last one Westfallen, Germany
VO: can i see some other admission and I-20
me: *i smiled because i know she didn't trust me. I passed them to her and apologized because they were a bit wet.
Vo: passed them back and asked how i found out about Saints Peters University
Me; My cousin who is a US citizen studied there and he has nothing but praise for the university.
VO: what classes will you be taking?
Me: I smiled because this question was the reason why i was denied the 2nd time. I answered them sweetly grin
VO: what will happen to your business when you leave Nigeria.
Me; Presently, i have filled my sister in on the basic things she needs to know to keep the business alive until i return
VO: can i see some of the business documents
ME; i passed her CAC document and business bank statement with just 400k in it
Vo: who is paying for your studies?
Me: my uncle?
VO: Why?
Me; He has been the one funding my education due to the death of my father in 2007
VO: what does he do?
Me; He is a medical doctor
VO: Can i see his bank statement?
Me: Passed his bank statement
VO: he is in the US?
Me; Yes ( at this point i thought i will be denied)
VO: what is his legal status
Me; He is a citizen
Vo: do you have his tax clearance?
Me: Passed them
VO: flips through and returns them

*starts Typing endlessly as i was waiting for my denial letter*
God surprised me as she raised her head and gave me the White paper and said the magical words

VO: Congratulations and goodluck in your business
Me; *straight face* Thank you so much ma

Me: stepped out in the rain. the jubilation in me chased the cold away grin grin grin grin grin
My family cant still believe it until the day they excorted me to the airport with tears of Joy in the eyes of my Lovely mom

I got to US on December 4th, Cold has been dealing with me since....

My dear brothers and sisters,
I give thanks to God for the delay i faced before because He was using it to help me build a business for my self here in Nigeria.
i wore simple native attire, went last with so many red flags and still got the visa. It can only be God.

i hope my testimony boost your hope. NEVER GIVE UP! Give it your best!

I also thank all Nairaland members especially Amefrica, Gravinton, Stewee, Kunlebal, Walspring, even Justwise as i Welcome myself to AMERICA

Congratulations sir.

Adebayo2296:
APPROVAL ALERT!!! LONG POST!!!

I sincerely thank God for His mercies and grace towards my application. In 2016, we were deceived by canada school agent over 1k dollars trying to apply for my wife. The agent did a poor job including documentations, however she was rejected. So when i decided to apply for myself I did it myself.

I have travel history for family vacation to Dubai and SA and short study in Canada. However, was rejected visa to UK and US. So when they asked if i have been denied visa before? I put UK and US and explained I was denied visa for family vacation.

I decided to apply for study permit paper route on 12 OCt, 2018. Got Medical request on 4December, biometric validation on 18th and approval Jan3, 19. Documents submitted;

- All CIC forms
-major required documents
-My CAC documents for two companies
-Annual returns receipts of 14k paid to CAC not tax clearance
-personal current accounts which i have been running very well. Infact i used it for all my transactions to build the account. 6 months SOA over 120 pages. Ending balance of 10.5m and 9m was reserved for all my study expenses which came in from my savings acct from the same bank to current acct. So it shows own account transfer. I moved the money 8 days to my application.
-4 Banks accounts for my company with total balance of 1.8m in all
-4 bank references
-letter of financial sponsorship- written by me as self sponsor
-Letter of Introduction from my 2 companies. signed by my staff with our company seal stating I am my position
-letter of financial support from my organization for 2k dollars just for flights.( Company sponsorship is not always the best if you have alternatives- you can read more from nairaland about this)
-consent letter from wife that i have made provision for upkeep. She wrote it on her company letter head
-SOP 3 pages. ( I also had to do handwritten Letter of explanation because i couldn't go back to type it at the point of submission. I had to explain I already had a visiting visa for short study
-Valuation of my land with R of O and title deeds
-University certificates and transcripts
-CV
-No tuition deposits
-Visa form and Letter from the university
-Passport
-police report
-birth certificates
etc

I prepare my application from VO's perspective. I was honest and took my time to prepare documents. I did vigils with Nairaland and google in all my 3 visa applications to learn from past applications. I prayed and thank God alot.

My advice- be honest in all your application process, Be consistent with your information across embassies, relax and submit until you are sure you've your dot your I's and cross your T's and completely rely on GOD = Visa assured! Thanks to @Austacus! He really lifted my spirit at a point of long silence! Let somebody shout Hallelujah!!!!!!! You're the next to share your success story!

All the best to the hopeful!!!
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 10:06pm On Jan 03, 2019
I submitted landed documents during my application.

Get a C or O or a deed of assignment and attach it to the documents stating the estimated evaluation.
A certified surveyor will have his own seal. The documents stating the estimate evaluation should have his seal.

Some of these surveyors aren’t certified, they get the job & take it to a certified surveyor and make use of his seal. This will incur more cost because they’ll have to pay whoever will be stamping the documents.

So make sure he/she is certified.

P.S if the property is a rented one, include the agreement between you and the tenants, also add a few of the receipts of payments made to you.

Pimi:
Hello house, please has anyone gone through the process of getting evidence of landed documents during the course of the Visa application? I'm trying to get mine I don't know if a land evaluation from a real estate agent would be enough. Do I have to get any form of seal from a surveyor general or something like that?

Please I need answers from people that presented any form of landed documents. Thank you

Congratulations sir/ma.

Goldenegg:
Compliments of the season my people.

So this is my story.....

Applied in April
Refused in June

Re-applied in June
Refused in November

I was so heartbroken and devastated.....
But I just held on to God's promise.

I didn't want to try again.

But the Spirit of God gave me the courage to try again.

So I applied again in November.

God finally came through for me and I got my approval this December.

Lesson : If God has said it, that settles it because He will surely do it. Don't give up. It's not over till you win!

By the way I'm a matured student o, in my forties. I left university over 20 years ago. If God can do it for me, He will also do yours!

To God be the glory! All I can say is THANK YOU JESUS CHRIST MY LORD!

JustMellow:
A program that is more than 1 year or close to 2 years can qualify a student for a 3 years PGWP

A program that is less than 1 year and not below 6 months gets same duration for PGWP
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 1:52pm On Dec 13, 2018
Will do. Thank you.

Naijaforeigner:
Normally PGWP is given for the length of program. So if your program is 16 months you get 16 months but if 2 years, you get 3 years.

However, it also depends on how the school runs their program.
Some schools see the 16 months program as 2 years. If the school at the end of your program gives you a letter to confirm that the 16 months program is equivalent to a 2 year program when applying for your PGWP, you will get 3 years PGWP.

Please confirm with your school.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 1:51pm On Dec 13, 2018
It’s never too early to apply.

Raymondrain:
Hello house,I want to know if it's okay for me to apply by February for fall 2019, hope it's not too early or should I wait till some months later?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 12:59pm On Dec 13, 2018
So what happens if your program is less than 2 years, say 16 months or 18 months.

Naijaforeigner:
cc Strongtech

You will get a 3 year post graduation work permit (PGWP) so far the school is an eligible DLI (not all DLI make you eligible).

After getting 3 years PGWP, You qualify to apply for PR if you have worked for at least 1 year in a skilled occupation.

So here you go;

Get offered admission in an eligible DLI - school for at least 2 years (masters, PGD) without any issue or criminal record - get 3 years PGWP - work for 1 year in a skilled occupation - apply for PR
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 11:25am On Dec 13, 2018
This is a scary revelation.

Naijaforeigner:
Sorry this response is coming late.
Visa is not guaranteed for anyone. Some people have gotten visas for PGC (1 year program) on this forum. However, I would suggest if you cannot get admission for masters degree of at least 18 months, please go for a 2 year PGD so you can easily get a 3 year work permit once you are done.

I am currently on a 1 year study permit that ends September 1, 2019. The challenge is I need to renew my study permit next year before this current one ends by either going for another 1 year PGC (what most Indians and Nigerians do here based on my findings) or do at least another 1 year masters so that I can qualify for the 3 year work permit. I heard work permit is given only once.

Imagine if I was using a third party sponsor? I would have to start begging the sponsor to please send me money for fees next year to renew study permit. It is better you get that 2 years visa once and for all from Nigeria so you don’t have anything to worry about again when you get here.

No one can say for sure since the medical exam was upfront.

Remain positive, you should get a decision soon. I hope it all works out for you.

Hi,
If one submits medical report and police report upfront with his visa application; and in about 5 weeks after submission receives correspondence on "validity of your biometrics information". Is it a positive sign?

I’d advice you to type your SOP out.

Asapant:
Hello everyone. For paper application. Can SOP be hand written ?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 8:41pm On Dec 11, 2018
Submit photocopies, only letters addressed to the embassy should be original.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 11:47pm On Dec 08, 2018
Right.

No

Only when you're called for medical > medical passed> validity of biometric then its a sure bet for an approval.

PPR!!!!
I saw a post about people only posting when they are denied visa and not when they are approved and I felt bad because it is actually true. Anyways I joined nairaland after I submitted my application however, I will state what I did to ease my application

I applied on the 3rd of October 2018, did my biometrics on the 9th of October. Then on the 25th of October I checked my portal and sa my medicals has been updated to passed.

I applied online and I did upfront medicals[/b
Then on the 28th of November my eligibility review started, I got a biometrics validity correspondence later same day. Then on the 1st if Decmeber which is a Saturday I got my PPR. I didn’t even know they respond to people on the weekend

Anyways to the important part my documents
SOA of 11m
I paid my tuition of CAD7,800
I put my father’s companies certificate of incorporation. My father was my sponsor
I put his sponsorship letter
My bank statement was for 6 months there was also a letter on the statement from the banks stating my father is the sole owner of the account and some other information I can’t remember
I also put my fathers certificate of ownership for a land
I then put two different valuation documents for a house in lagos and ph

Then for the other information I put my SOP which was very detailed. I studied economics as my Bsc and I’m going for masters in economics which makes my case very easy to explain. I also worked in a good company practicing economy’s
I put my present companies offer letter, WAEC, some NYSC documents because at that time I was still doing my NYSC. I put my transcript, TOEFL result because in one of the forms online I was asked if I had taken the English proficiency exam and I selected yes so It made a lot of sense to include that in my document. I got 96/120 in my toefl.

I prayed and prayed and prayed. I checked my portal everyday until I got the PPR. Thank God for good news. It shall end in praise for every other applicant.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Awuuga: 10:48am On Dec 03, 2018
Yes I did. I submitted a copy of my IELTS result.

dorange:
please did you submit any English proficiency test score like ielts or toefl in your application?, the Windsor egas portal is refusing to submit the application because of i didn't include any English test results.
