Miyetti Allah yesterday said that their reason for slaughtering over 200 innocent and defenseless Christians in Jos yesterday was because they stole 300 of their cows.

Actress Toyin Abraham apologises to Mercy Aigbe weeks after their IG spat

Few weeks ago, Nollywood actresses, Mercy Aigbe and Toyin Abraham, had a spat on IG. Trouble started when Mercy went to congratulate Toyin Aimakhu's ex-husband, Adeniyi Johnson's fiancee, on their upcoming wedding.

This did not go down well with Toyin who called Mercy an ''Alabosi oshi'' and also insinuated that Mercy played a part in the crash of her marriage to Adeniyi.

Life had changed for me. I never realized it. Moonlight walk changed into late night strategy workshops. Candlelight dinner turned into business meetings. Russian social media users have rallied in support of a teacher who lost her job after photos emerged of her in a swimsuit online.

Viktoria Popova, 26, was sacked by School Number 7 in Omsk for “bringing her school and profession into disrepute”, according to the Siberian Times.

The decision to fire her was made after photos of her modelling swimwear were posted to Instagram, although they have since been deleted.
Over 3,000 people have since shared photos of themselves wearing swimsuits to protest against the decision using the hashtag “teachers are people too”.
Much of the reaction online has been positive, with one person calling the teacher’s sacking an “outrageous example of hypocrisy, stupidity and idiocy”.

She added: “We are teachers, but we are also humans, therefore we have the right to look different outside the school and in our social media.”

One person dismissed the decision as “absolutely mad”, while another recalled a time when “there was no necessity to protect yourself for stupid reasons” and criticised the school for sacking the teacher.

The reaction was criticised by some sections of social media, including @ohmybroochh who wrote “it’s just an excuse to show yourself in a bathing suit”.

Others agreed with her view and slammed the women for “getting naked” instead of directly contacting the people involved in Ms Popova’s sacking.

Another person, who also claimed to be a teacher, hit out at Ms Popova, writing: “This is not the norm. Teachers are humans too, but these humans are educators.”
“Yes, there is a private sphere of life. Private! How would you like teachers drinking behind schools, smoking pot and hitting on high-schoolers? Why not? They are humans too.”

After the swimsuit photos spread online, the Omsk Region government announced that Ms Popova could return to her old job, stating: “The question of Viktoria’s future employment has been decided: she may decide to work as a teacher either at this school or another one.”

However, she might have to weigh up her options before taking them up on the offer, as she is also now being courted elsewhere.

Another Russian modelling agency, Plus Size Omsk, have reached out to her, asking “the gorgeous Viktoria” to join their ranks in July.

Two would-be bank robbers almost had their escape scuppered by traffic in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa.

The attempted bank heist happened late on Tuesday afternoon at the Bole branch of Abyssinia Bank.

Two of the alleged robbers – one of whom is reported to be a security guard – fled empty-handed, but police managed to apprehend the main suspects.
According to Aschalew Tamiru, the communications chief at the bank, they used a car to escape, which later collided with a vehicle belonging to Anteneh Redai.

‘’My friends and I tried to follow them but the car couldn’t go beyond 50 metres due to the crash it suffered,’’ Mr Anteneh reporters.

‘‘I saw them driving the car down the wrong lane. Because of the traffic jam, the driver jumped out of the car and started running. Another young man from the passenger seat followed the driver.

“Then the people around the area stated shouting and tried to stop them but one of the guys was holding a knife.”

Fassika Fenta, spokesman of the city’s police commission, told reporters Amharic that nearly 5m birr ($185,000; £136,000) was saved.

Mr Aschalew added that things were now back to normal and the branch resumed its operations today.

The incident is a rarity not just for Abyssinia Bank, but also for the country at large.

A 35-year-old woman June Wanza Mulupi, died of sepsis after a botched breast enlargement surgery in Karen, Kenya.

The mother of three died last week at Nairobi Hospital where she was rushed after developing complications from a breast enlargement surgery.

The procedure was carried out by an unidentified surgeon in his office at Galleria Mall last week. Wanza was discharged but developed severe abdominal pain that worsened.
She had gone to Nairobi Hospital for review on Wednesday and was immediately admitted to the High Dependency Unit, then the ICU.

Doctors realised that her intestines had been cut or punctured in the first surgery, apparently a fat transfer augmentation. Her blood pressure was dangerously low.

“Because her intestines were cut, all the waste was seeping out and spreading inside the stomach. That caused an infection called sepsis. Doctors battled to save her life on Friday but she died from the infection,” a family member told the Star on Tuesday.
Wanza is to be buried on Saturday. The family requested time to grieve before they divulge more information.

“We are having the postmortem tomorrow [today]. Allow us to finish that process,” they said through lawyer Jared Orare.

Wanza’s intestine had been severed, and waste had spilled into her abdominal cavity — the cause of the acute pains.

She developed sepsis, an infection that takes effect when the body’s immune system releases chemicals into the bloodstream to fight an infection.

A team of doctors, led by Prof Stanley Khainga, frantically attended to Wanza. Speaking to The Star yesterday, Dr. Khainga was called in as a corrective surgeon after Wanza was admitted to Nairobi Hospital.

The surgeon said the patient had also developed gas gangrene, likely from the incisions made during the surgery. Khainga said the infection usually spreads quickly.

“It was gas gangrene which is an infection of soft tissues from bacteria on the skin. I was just called in to control that. When gas gangrene gets under the skin, it kills blood supply and eats the fat and whatever remains. If you don’t remove the dead skin then it spreads all over and you can’t control it,” he said.

“The wounds through which the surgery is done are the ones that now become the portals of entry of the bacteria. For her, it was an infection that was too fast. I was just intervening to control that and correct the shock and so on. I was in Nairobi Hospital when they called me. She was a referral. As a consultant, I was trying to sort out the problem.”

Kinsmen of the presumed winner of the June 12th 1993 election, MKO Abiola, have called for the elongation of the tenure of President Buhari by 14 days so that future presidential inaugurations will coincide with the June 12th inauguration day.

The call was made by the traditional ruler of Gbagura in Ogun State, Halidu Laloko, at a press conference yesterday June 11th.

“We see this as victory of truth over injustice, and as people of Gbagura and Ogun State at large, we are extremely glad that Mr President has finally done what is just and fair with the posthumous award of GCFR on late Abiola and the declaration of June 12 as proper Democracy Day and a Public Holiday in Nigeria. We equally applaud the National Assembly led by the Senate for directing the Independent National Electoral Commission to formally declare Chief MKO Abiola winner and as an Ex-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with all his entitlements fully paid.

We also passionately request the National Assembly to take a second look at the President Muhammadu Buhari’s proposal on June 12 and demand that, for proper actualisation and immortalisation of the date and Abiola, there is need to support Mr President on the need to replace the hitherto Public Holiday of May 29 and celebration as well as Handover Day with June 12 since the date marks a watershed in the Nigerian political history” the monarch said

A high chief of the community, Bode Mustapha, asked President Buhari to send an executive bill to the National Assembly for constitutional backing of an amendment to the President’s Handover Day and Democracy Celebration that he announced last week

”Because of the separation of powers between the Executive and the Legislature, we appeal to the President to forward an Executive Bill to the National Assembly, taking into cognizance of the circumstances that led to the annulment of the June 12 election and the importance of that day and date as the watershed of the democracy of this nation. He should send the Bill to the National Assembly changing the Democracy Day. Once it has been sent to the National Assembly and it becomes law, it extends the tenure of the present government and the National Assembly only by a couple of days. And there will be no disparity again in the Democracy Day and Handover Date.” he said

The family of former senate president, late Senator Chuba Okadigbo, has announced the funeral date for Obiajulu, the 30-year-old son of the politician who died in the US on Tuesday May 29th. He died from a cold-related ailment.

According to the obituary put out by the family, a Funeral ceremony for Obiajulu will take place on June 16th at the St. John Neumann Catholic church Warfield road in Maryland,USA.

Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has commended President Buhari for declaring June 12th as the New Democracy Day in honour of the late presumed winner of the June 12th 1993 Presidential Election, Chief MKO Abiola.
