Nairaland General › What Do You Say Of Your Signature? Proud Of It? by ayobase(op): 1:50am On Sep 17, 2013 |
My brothers and sisters on NL, my signature is one of the ugliest of all signatures walahi.
You know that period when you wanna sign and a beautiful lady is by ur side in.......its either you are proud or humbled to!
To me, though the soundness of one's signatures is not attached to intelligence, but it speaks volume of one without saying a word.
A guy with an ugly signature will still wanna prove that he is intelligent, but the one with a smart signature is considered intelligent at the first instance!
I have been using this signature since my primary school days. Thought I was gonna change it very soon, but procrastination has been tossing me until I was embarraseed again today in the banking hall.
Went to renew my expired debit card at Eco-bank yesterday morning, the guy asked me to go re-sign (this wasn't the first time), since it tallied not with the one I have on the database.....I have resolved that I'm gonna abandon the account if.......well, Glory be to God!
Sometimes, I wonder how I came about that signature....it so embarrassing when I have to scribble it, especially when I'm in the open!
"This your signature na die"' one cashier once said teasingly.
Thank God for debit cards sha.....but I'm gonna need to go officially change my signature!
People, what do you say of your signature?
#seun, this my signature aint uploading o# |

hardbody: Very myopic analysis.
How much do you think corporate organisations pay in Nigeria depending on your level ?
What is the tax implication of what you earn in both worlds?
What are the financial liabilities to the earner as is being compared?
What guarantee is there that the jobs are all over the place for the taking, irrespective of where you are?
Nothing wrong in wanting to elope or jump ship to the US, UK or wherever in double hell anyone wants to go to, however, i ask, why are some Tokunbos coming back to Nigeria to take up employment, are those mega hourly pays not available to them?
Have you noticed that Nigerians spend more than the westerners when they come over to your world? Where do you think the money is coming from and please note, the huge spenders are not all politicians.
How about you find something meaningful to analyse than raise issues with no substance. If you have fun living in the western world, enjoy it, i know people that will not leave their well paid employment in this country to come pick up your mega hourly pay (yours sincerely inclusive).
When i need to holiday abroad, i will, when i need to work to make the money, i do it here, capic?? u better dont give yourself hypertension! im here chilling, and u r there just vexing! easy does it...go read again what I wrote! |

Though there is no much difference between intra-state or inter-state driving, just the distance at a go. No extra-ordinary tactics involved. Driving is fun when u r relaxed and taken as hobby. Now that u have cold feet about this, I would suggest u don't drive. Nevertheless, u can conquer ur fear via determination. But it is strongly advised not to drive when u don't feel like. homesolutions: 5 Things You Should Know Before Becoming a Landlord Learn the Challenges and the Rewards
If you are considering a career as a landlord, there are some things you need to know first. Here are five things you should know before becoming a landlord.
1. Being a Landlord Is Not a 9 to 5 Job
The daily life of a landlord is much more impromptu than structured. It is not the type of life where you get to work at 9:00 A.M, go to lunch at noon and leave at 5:00 P.M. One day you may have one hour of work to do while the next you may have fifteen hours of work.
Your daily obligations can also change on a dime. You may be expecting to go to your property for ten minutes to collect rent, but when you get there, your tenant asks if you can look at a small leak they have. You have three choices:
You can disregard their request. You can call a plumber or handyman to look at the problem. You can spend the time to immediately troubleshoot the problem. If you decide to address the problem immediately, your ten minute rent collection can quickly become a three hour ordeal.
2. A Landlord Wears Many Hats
It is hard to truly define what a landlord does because a landlord does so many different things. You must be able to adapt to these different roles to have a successful career as a landlord. Here are some examples of the roles a landlord plays:
Realtor Salesperson Detective Negotiator Debt Collector Repairman Therapist/Counselor Supervisor/Watchdog
3. There Are Legal Rules You Must Follow
Many people think, I’ll buy a property, rent it out and make some money; easy enough. If it were that easy then everyone would do it. There are many legal rules you must abide by when you become a landlord.
For example: There are things you can and cannot ask when interviewing perspective tenants.
There are Fair Housing Laws which dictate what is considered discrimination.
There are certain ways you must handle a tenant’s security deposit.
There are certain housing safety codes your property must abide by- such as hard wiring smoke detectors or properly handling a lead-based paint hazard.
There are health codes to adhere to- such as providing working plumbing and freedom from insect or rodent infestation.
There are also proper and legal ways to evict a tenant.
4. There Is a Learning Curve
You could be a very intelligent person, but if you do not have experience being a landlord, you will inevitably hit some bumps in the road and unfortunately some craters as well. There is only so much you can learn from reading or from speaking with others. This is the type of career where real life experience is often the best teacher.
In landlording, one plus two does not always equal three. For example, your tenant sees a mouse. Logically, you call an exterminator to get rid of the problem. However, when the exterminator comes, they go into the crawl space and notice that you also have extensive mold developing. Your open and shut case of getting rid of a mouse has now become a mouse problem and a mold problem, and probably four times as expensive as you had budgeted for.
Another example of a learning curve is when you select tenants for your property. When you first start out, you go through all the typical steps to screen a tenant. You think you’re doing everything right, but one month later you’re having problems and are forced to evict the tenant.
After you have been a landlord for a while, you rely on the logical steps, but also on your instincts to select the right tenants for your property. You may find that tenants who answer rental ads on Craigslist are higher quality than those who answer rental ads in the newspaper or that people who view the apartment on weekends or after normal work hours are higher quality than those who view it at 1:00 P.M. on a weekday.
5. It Is Very Rewarding Work
Yes, there are the headaches and the struggles that come with the life of a landlord, but there are also great rewards. Of course there is the monetary reward. There is the reward of personal freedom that comes from being your own boss. There is also the pride that comes from seeing what you have been able to build up and maintain with your hard work.
You will develop personal relationships with your tenants. The fact that you are able to provide a home for another human being is an accomplishment in and of itself. You will see children grow and tenants come and go, but you can take pride in the fact that your property has provided a home for all these people, and will do so for years to come. In addition to providing a home for others, you also have the opportunity to leave a nest egg for your own family. Food › Re: 10 Foods That Damage Your Teeth by ayobase(m): 7:46pm On Sep 16, 2013 |
Krasid: Most people know candy and other sugary foods wreak havoc on their teeth, but how about fruit?
You've probably heard brushing and flossing twice a day is the best way to keep your teeth healthy. But some foods cause enough damage to warrant extra cleanings.
1. Apples Apples are high in acid, are surprisingly hard on your enamel. While a daily apple may keep the doctor away, the acid might keep your dentist on speed dial.Eating apples is fine, just be sure to rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash shortly after.
2. Hard candies Though you probably know the sugar in candy is a problem, hard candies are especially harmful because we tend to hold them in our mouths longer. Also be aware that cough drops are often made with sugar, so opt for the sugar-free brand if available.
3. Pickled vegetables Pickles are made with vinegar, which is acidic, and often sugar as well. While the vegetables are healthy, the brine is can damage your teeth.Drinking water with your meal helps wash away acids and sugar, but remember to brush an hour later.
4. Bread Many breads contain sugar-especially processed white breads. It's best to check the labels for any added sweeteners that will breed mouth bacteria.Bread is also sticky and gets between and behind your teeth.
5. Popcorn Popcorn is notorious for getting stuck in your teeth, and the areas between your teeth will cultivate more bacteria for that reason. It's okay to treat yourself to a bag of popcorn as long as you rinse with water and remember to floss and brush after.
6. Peanut butter Sticky and often made with sugar, peanut butter not only feeds bacteria but makes it easier for them to adhere to teeth.Look for natural peanut butters with no added sugars to lessen the problem.
7. Jelly Along with peanut butter, jelly or jam is loaded with sugar and quite sticky.Even the all-fruit brands contain natural sugars and encourage plaque and bacteria if not washed away soon.
8. Meat Meat tends to get stuck between your teeth, and some meat products contain sugar as a preservative. While the amount may not be very high, any food that sits between your teeth can promote tooth decay.Try chewing sugar-less gum after eating if you can't brush right away.
9. Diet soda Just because it doesn't have sugar doesn't mean your teeth are safe. The acidity of diet sodas is still extremely high, making it one of the worst products for your teeth.
10. Salad dressing More of a condiment than a food, salad dressings use vinegar and sugar for flavor.Salads should be a staple in anyone's diet, but be careful of the dressings that can harm your smile.

debbleopto: you don't read the OP well. in California the monthly minimum wage is $2000. for 12 months it s $24000 that's around 3.8 million naira a year. that's is the minimum! Now for the giant of Africa, Nigeria for a month it is #18000 and for 12 months it is #216,000. Muntulas is is all these you are using to rent house? won't you eat, what of your wife, children and all the bills and transportation and medical. that's why most of u resorted to over concentrated agbo. 3.8 million naira with quality life and brighter future compared with 216000 naira plus low standard living and not too sure future like ASUU strike and M.SC holders still looking for job or graduate ready to drive trucks with his certificate. May God help you in your analytic reasoning. |
Politics › Re: USA Minimum Wage Vs Nigeria Minimum Wage. by ayobase(op): 6:57pm On Sep 16, 2013 |
michelism: Why are most of you getting so much sentimental, claiming some useless patroitism here. It's incomparable! Lets assume a minimum wage worker with #18k spends #500 only on food for a month, that's #15k already. So the remaining #3k can take care of : transport, accommodation, house maintenance, feeding two children + wife?e.t.c. Why do you keep emphasising on USA's 'tax and fuel'? When in reality if an American minimum wage worker, after his taxes and fuel deduction in a month could still have some cash in his pocket if he does not live extravagantly. How many of you live on #18k/month? Even a secondary school graduate without responsibilities: wife and children can't solely live. on that! Pls no abuse! If you're against my post only 'quote' if you are living on the said #18k. |
We are all missing the point..................
The argument shouldn't be the amount of money, but what that money can do to ensure better standard of living.....
For example, if you give me $1 million is the middle of Sahara desert, it might be of no use to be than if you give me water and shade.... (worth couple of dollars to get)
This implies that how people measure the benefits of money is relative, irrespective of the amount they get.
Now, back to the argument!
So if in Nigeria, with a man's $1 million, he can't get chemo for his cancer, he can't get the best security, and can't get the best University education for his kids, etc.... then that amount is meaningless to the man if he considers health, education and peace as ways of measuring standard of living.
Okay, if we all agree that food availability is our variable for standard of living....
A Californian man on a minimum wage of $10/h will be well fed compared to his counterpart in Nigeria earning a meager N18,000.
God help him if Malaria and Typhoid kon strike dat man on N18K...... He may not even live to see next month....
Thanks....the ending part got me cracked up! |

Properties › Re: How To Identify A Fraudulent Set-up In Property acquisition In Nigeria by ayobase(m): 7:35am On Sep 16, 2013 |
Jarus: 4. Pointing out Buildings without Any Depth of Knowledge about the Owner: This is closely related to the above only that it is more pointed. In your discussions, you might find the agent just reeling off the various addresses of properties from his list but knows nothing about the owner(s) or the details of the property as in the house type, street number and details of ownership documents. In other words, the agent is not convincing.
5. Strange Relationships: This also makes reference to the office. You may note that there is no coherence in office activities. Perhaps the person introduced to you as the Chairman does not seem familiar to the person introduced as manager. Again you might have observed that there are too many whispers here and there between staff each time glancing at you or being pretentious. You may need to back out quietly of such relationships.
6. Hurry: This is another strong point you need to watch. If everything about the people you are dealing with is hurry; hurry for payments; hurry and hurry; you are under pressure to perform or the agents exert a sense of compulsion in the things they want you to do. Wait to think so you can operate with a clear mind or else you might have agreed to do things you may never be able to reverse.
