Business / Re: Why Can't Jumia Offer Same-Day Delivery? by ayonuga(m): 7:53pm On Oct 26, 2013
Ecommerce is still at its baby stage in Nigeria, regardless has grown significantly. Living abroad, I've never seen same day delivery although I've seen 24hrs delivery time while in these places - Germany, France, India. Consider that Jumia will have key challenges such as logistics, technology and road network. With time the service will improve, provided people give them adequate feedback just as you've done.
P.S. I don't know a lot about Jumia or their operations but If truly it's a year old then I'd say it's a company on the right track.

As an HR professional I have a desire to support growth of the country with my skillset by reducing unemployment.

Nairalanders that so wish can decide to forward their CVs to me for review. For security and trust issues, you might decide to remove your bio-data(name, address, age etc). This is not a hoax or an effort to defraud Nigerians. I want to support the graduates in the capacity that I can. God has blessed me continuously and I should support others as well.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Do Online Job Applications Ever Work? by ayonuga(m): 6:48pm On Oct 10, 2013
Firstly you are doing right by ensuring you customise every cv+cover letter for individual applications. People have recommended good options already. Pls forward your CV I can do a review and give you feedback.

As an HR professional I can give you this advice-try getting an internship (paid or non paid). This will help you get the required practical experience. You can do this by walk-in (physically visiting companies) or virtually by sending customized emails to selected companies and make them know of your intention. I know someone who did the same thing and within 24hrs he got a call from the HR head of a multinational. They had a 30mins discussion and that was how the connection was made to get his job till date.

C me o: to be honest, it requires more than common sense that most nigerians display to understand this was an acted script written & directed by arikair people to thwart omojuwa's case/campaign against them

Exactly what I was thinking. Omojuwa's ipad was actually stolen, arik actually admitted seeing the ipad, only to change their story after it mysteriously disappeared again.

Career / Re: What Are My Chances In The Labour Market. by ayonuga(m): 5:26pm On Jun 30, 2012
osifred:
I am a graduate of Human Resource Management with a first class, apart from leadership experience and informal work experience (which are not directly related to my field of study) I have never had a real formal working experience.

I am aware that in today’s business world emphasize is place or should be more in work experience than paper qualification. Honestly not having a work experience is not my fault as circumstance has not presented itself for a formal work experience. Even after school I was ready to volunteer free of charge for any organization, still I didn’t get a positive feedback.

My last hope of getting a formal working experience before joining the labour market was during my National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) but your guess is as good as mine, despite my class of grade and the uniqueness of my course of study I was posted to a nursery and primary school in a remote village to teach, something I can’t comfortably add in my Curriculum Vitae as a working experience.

Knowing the importance of work experience I have decided not to proceed immediately for my masters degree after service but to get at-least 2years work experience despite the fact that I am an academic person, I love school, in-order to acquire the much needed work experience.

I am not frightened of the real work environment because I know if am placed in a job I will not have a problem adapting because I have been part of several informal projects which have being excused successfully.

Please what do you think are my chances of employment after service and people like me out there and advice me on what immediate thing I should or can do to get a formal work experience.

Ufeolorun: All work experience matter regardless of your qualification even if you are in the highly technical field. It only need a bit of tweaking here and there, you just need to make it relevant through tailoring and fitting.
Yours is even easier,H.R is all about people management isn't it? if you have been able to manage kids!! and you can prove how you brought the best out of them then working with adults should be a cake walk.
Pupils/workers resume late or absent, you find out. What's the difference? Isn't this routine H.R
You hardly see irrelevant experience if you look deeply.

Just what I was thinking.
Poster, Teaching is a little aligned to Talent Education...and Human Resources is basically about Talent Management. You should definitely write the work experience from teaching in your CV. If you truly taught these kids, you educated them (which is called Training & Development in HR) you also assessed them and conducted tests as well as graded them, (which can be aligned to Staff/Talent appraisal in HR). If there were times where you rewarded kids that performed extraordinarily and surpassed his/her peers then you can relate that with Reward & Recognition.
Truth is I think this is the best non-corporate HR related job. You also say that you have Leadership and Team mgt experiences- dude you got all you need. You just need to sit and think how to develop your CV. You have a good grade to get you noticed, so what you need do now is translate these experiences in your interviews by showing confidence. You can also go professional by acquiring the CIPM certificate (but frankly right now its no needed) But firstly, put everything in God's hands.

Celebrities / Re: Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria (MBGN) Disqualified Over False Age! by ayonuga(m): 10:40am On Jun 20, 2012
berem: who cares anyway! of what benefit is MBGN to nigerians who are suffering? there are important issues on ground to tackle abeg! mtscheeew!

Wanna know the benefit? It gives hope that an average Nigerian can work hard, be passionate about what she does and eventually win something to make herself and her nation proud. How can you even ask that kinda question? Is Agbani Darego not a Nigerian and YES! she did us proud by winning...

That being said tho, I'm still confused about these claims. If she really falsified her age, I don't think she would still contest for Miss Universe. Just my 2cents!

Damolux01: Pls guys...which °ƒ the part °ƒ Germany ȋ̝̊̅§ better...WEST OR EAST....state cool and interesting states or cities too with high standard buh low cost °ƒ living...most 9ja guys don't knw this hence finding themselves in ǎ̜̍ very remote area...thanks!

Its actually West. (Southern part to be precise). That's where you have cities like Munich, Ulm, Stuttgart, Augsburg, Passau etc. The Bavarian region in my own opinion is an awesome place to stay in Germany. Although some cities are more expensive than others like Munich, but generally the Bavarians are more fun and lively...plus its closer to Paris *smiles*

WTH is it with this age thing I've been hearing lately. Jus a few days ago, som chic told me that her first relationship @ 15 was with a 35yr old man (the guy shud be arrested for abuse :| ). And just yday, som other chic said her bf is 30...she's just 20. *confused*
@op, your lecturer should talk about how the young lads can improve the medical profession and not some baseless opinions. If he wants to give such advises he should open up a blog and drop watever he feels is best abeg.

Its sad, its really sad. Alotta people travel by air, it could have been any of us. I just hope each victim lived a positive life. Another time for us to reflect and re-evaluate. God protect us all.

Demdem: MKO was definitely a great man however i do not like this idea to be honest. we now have Moshood Abiola University Lagos. wait a minute, i think there is one Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in ogun state

Exactly, there's already a Moshood Abiola Polytechnic(altho I think people would argue that its state owned).

Unilag is a brand name whether we all accept it or not with a great history. So I really don't think its a smart move.

That is the result you get when you are too materialistic.
I have dated girls like that...

N.B: If a girl is simple and down to earth and not too concerned about
her boyfriends educational background, job, money etc, guys will
open up about their lies.
He knew that the girl will dump him the moment she knows he is jobless.
MORAL OF THIS STORY: DON'T BE TOO CHOOSY, YOU MIGHT JUST END UP CHOOSING A JOBLESS GUY

Buhahaahaha...if you want a good laugh, walai just come to NL.

My 2cents...family is family, Dude should be forgiven and the whole thing thoroughly investigated. Get in touch with his family, they r the best people to give you his history.

Help the dude out, if you can get him cash, no wahala...better still a job tho. but keep an eye on them. Oh and one more thing, spank your cousin for being so naïve plus her family def didn't do enough to find out info about the guy.

I don't agree with you bro, If the News is True then we should all be scared of their attacking option next season cos they'll have 3 Creative players that can change game among them.

Less i forget, they already sealed Marco Marin from Werder Bremen, Now Eden Hazard (If it's True) and Juan Mata.

It makes HAZARD-MARIN-MATA behind Torres with Mikel Sitting Dip and Ramires roaming....

Career / Re: Any Hope With 3.49 CGPA? by ayonuga(m): 7:09pm On May 19, 2012
Dude, any cgpa doesn't guarantee that a person will get the best of jobs. As an HR professional, I've seen numerous applications of people with the best of grades but during interview you realize they have just "book knowledge". In Nigeria, life outside school is way different from life in school. I have 2 friends that graduated with 3rd class, they didn't let that get to them-they went for graduate internships abroad(seek for information and take advantage of them) and believe me 3 years after graduation they were blessed-one works for Ecowas (abuja)as a Talent Manager, the other works for GSK as an Assistant Brand manager. They could only achieve this cause of determination and hard work.
I think a big mistake alotta students make is while in school, they don't engage in extra curricular activities like involving themselves with meaningful student orgs that help develop you professionally & personally (sometimes academically too).
Don't beat yourself over it, personally I think its the least thing you should worry about. To say there's so much hope is an understatement.

Despite the high airfare from this airline yet they refuse to remit tax. What a shame!
The whole Sky team consisting of Air france, delta airlines etc should be looked into and if shady activities are noticed, they should all be sanctioned. Airfares cost soooo much in africa.
