Family5 Reasons Why Men Seek Divorce by ayoola22(op): 7:05pm On Aug 06, 2015
Unlike Nigeria where you be laugh out of court for such, most cases of divorce in India are filed on the grounds of abuse, or what's legally termed as "cruelty". But what amounts to abuse has long been open to debate, especially when determining whether psychological trauma has been afflicted on a person during marriage.

Party pooper
A sailor who claimed his wife's regular partying, among other things, was a form of abuse. The 42-year-old man, who married his wife in 1999, was also in the "habit of enjoying parties",

Sex machine
A sexless marriage is a common trigger for divorce globally. But last year, a man wanted to divorce his wife because of too much sex.
In his petition, the man described his wife as having an "excessive and insatiable appetite for sex" ever since their marriage in April 2012. He alleged that she would force him to have sex, even at times when he was sick, and threatened to sleep with other men when he refused

Speaking also to journalists was Monday Ikuesan, 37, who confessed to be a fisherman involved in bunkering within the area.

Ikuesan, a father of two, also stated that he got N180, 000 for his efforts in the robbery and has since ‘invested’ the money in getting kegs which he used for oil theft.

“I was accosted by some people and was forcefully asked to take them over the water or release my speedboat that was how I got involved.

“I am not a member of the gang. I was only involved in the Lekki robbery prior to the Ikorodu incident,” he explained soberly.

According to British Newspaper, Independent the most popular footballer and sportsman on Facebook is Cristiano Ronaldo. He can revel in becoming the first sportsman to receive over 50 million 'Likes' on Facebook. Every one in twenty people on Facebook like the Real Madrid Forward.

His lead of more than 10 million over Lionel Messi might not mean he is the better player but that he is more newsworthy.

The five most popular footballers according to the paper are......

1.Cristiano Ronaldo
2.Lionel Messi
3.David Beckham (21 million)
4.Kaka(18 million)
5.Andres Iniesta(10 million)

Did we all noticed that all the 5 are either playing or have played in Spain for Barcelona or Real Madrid meaning that Spanish league is probably the most popular in the world.......

PoliticsAdesina Impeached: by ayoola22(op): 7:38am On Nov 09, 2009
Kingmakers dethrone Akure monarch

I remain on the throne, says Deji

From Niyi Bello, Akure
THE four-year reign of Oba Oluwadare Adepoju Adesina, Osupa 111, as the traditional ruler, the Deji of Akure, came to an abrupt end yesterday when the traditional council of kingmakers, the body that installed him on November 26, 2005, declared him as "unfit, unworthy and improper to continue to occupy the cherished and exalted throne" and thereby ordered his immediate dethronement.

In a statement containing the resolution of the Akure Council of Chiefs made available to the press yesterday and signed by 38 high chiefs who included the 17-member traditional council of kingmakers led by Chief Folorunso David, the Olisa and the Prime Minister of the town, it was stated that the Oba, through his actions on the throne, "brought disgrace, dishonour and impudence to the office of the Deji."

Said to be the first time in the long history of the town that a Deji would be removed from office in such manner, the dethronement of Adesina is believed to have the backing of the elite of Akure, who had watched in amazement at the way the monarch "had brought the throne to ridicule".

But the embattled Oba, in a telephone conversation with The Guardian moments after the pronouncement relieving him of the crown was made public, said he was not aware of such development and that "as far as I am concerned, I remain the Deji of Akure".

Failed Nigeria’ motion sparks uproar in House of Reps
By Our Reporter Published Today News Rating: Unrated
The House of Representatives yesterday had a near rancorous debate on a motion which sought to debunk insinuations that "Nigeria is a failed state."

The motion, sponsored by Hon. Sani Minjibir, generated sentiments as members dismissed the assertion that the country should be classified a failed state.

But the motion almost ended on a bad note when Hon. Bala Ibn N’Allah attacked former Speaker Patricia Olubunmi Etteh over her contribution that parties should entrench internal democracy in their affairs.

Minjibir expressed surprise at the cover story of the Tell of October 5, 2009 entitled: "The making of a failed state."

He said though Nigeria was grappling with lack of adequate power supply, youth unemployment, hunger and insecurity, these were enough for the publication to conclude that Nigeria was a failed state.

Members who contributed agreed that the country faced challenges, but not "peculiarly grave to qualify her as a failed state."

Hon. Mohammed Ndume noted that though it was unacceptable to say the nation had failed, recent development indices showed the nation is "failing."

"The World Economic Forum has said recently that Nigeria’s infrastructure is one of the world’s worst," he said.

Nigerian pilgrims and the attack on Saudi banks
By Reuben Abati

I AM not supporting violent conduct but I think the Nigerian pilgrims who took out their anger on a number of Saudi banks on Tuesday, November 3, smashing the banks' glass windows and doors in the process deserve understanding, not condemnation. The story as reported in the Daily Trust (Wed., Nov. 4) is explanatory enough

'Silence of the lambs'
By Levi Obijiofor

"HERE is an assignment for you. The next time Nigeria's representatives in the current Under-17 world soccer tournament line up to honour the national anthem ahead of a match, watch closely to check how many of the players would be silent and how many would be reciting the anthem. The task is not difficult. Just follow the television camera as it gives a close-up of the face of each player. Extend the same scrutiny to Nigerian officials standing alongside the players.

I don't know whether I am the only person who has noticed that Nigerian sportsmen, sportswomen and officials hardly recite the national anthem when it is being played before a sporting event. Look into their faces and you will find them gazing blankly into space. You get the impression that these representatives are either indifferent to the national anthem or they do not know the lyrics of the anthem. How do we interpret such behaviour? Does that empty stare suggest that our sports representatives and officials are contemptuous of the national anthem - that symbol of national praise? Does the silence of the soccer players, athletes and other categories of sports representatives signal a more serious problem - general ignorance of the words that constitute the national anthem? Either way, we have a fundamental problem. "

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/editorial_opinion/article04//indexn2_html?pdate=061109&ptitle='Silence%20of%20the%20lambs'

Really before we decide, ask yourself do you know the exact wordings of the anthem?

Its so easy to abuse Senator Mark or football player but what about you,

Is it that we don't care or we all went to glorified night school?

PoliticsComedy At Osun Tribunal by ayoola22(op): 7:19am On Oct 16, 2009
Oyinlola Demands Another Police Report from Aregbesola

The fake police report controversy on the Osun gubernatorial poll in 2007 re-choed as hearing continued yesterday, with counsel to Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State asking the AC candidate in the election, Rauf Aregbesola if he had another police report to tender.
Counsel to Oyinlola, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, who led the legal team, threw a question at Aregbesola’s counsel, Deji Sasegbon, SAN, when discrepancies were repeatedly detected in documents he sought to tender yesterday, and asked, “do you have another police report?”
The import of the question was not lost on Sasegbon who replied “no comment, no comment,” and smiled. Aregbesola is already facing a criminal charge at a Magistrate's Court in Abuja, over forgery of a police report on the 2007 governorship election in Osun State and for tendering same at the election tribunal in Osogbo, and at the Appeal Court, Ibadan.
Also yesterday the two lawyers exchanged jokes as several discrepancies were detected in the documents sought to be tendered by Aregbesola.
Consequently, as Sasegbon informed the tribunal that he wanted to tender a total of 419 ballot papers from a unit at DC School, Lasun Village, Ode Omu, Oyinlola’s lawyer, Pinheiro got up and said he was “interested in looking at the 419 ballot papers brought by our friends from Barawo (thieves) village.”
He later informed the tribunal that “in that 419 pack, there are 40 blank sheets which our friends want to tender as ballot papers.”
Sasegbon had earlier mis-pronounced the name of a village, Barau, in Ayedaade Local Government, calling it Barawo Village, which is Hausa word for thief.
Pinheiro then threw a broadside saying “My Lord can see the people from Barawo village again,” adding that actually, “AC is very strong in that ‘thieves village. It is their stronghold.”
There were other discrepancies in several polling units, one of which was St Lukes Primary School 1, Orile Owu, where Aregbesola’s lawyer announced that he was tendering 131 ballot papers contained in an envelope.
Pinheiro said the envelope looked too bulky to contain 131 ballot papers and called for a re-count by the court registrar, who counted 211 ballot papers.
Also at Aba Ibadan Village, Sasegbon announced 155 ballot papers, but Pinheiro said he doubted if the content could be up to that figure. When counted, 75 ballot papers were found. Another was Atoba Village, where Sasegbon announced that he was tendering 96 ballot papers, with Pinheiro suggesting that it be counted and 93 ballot papers were found there. When Sasegbon tried to rationalise it that INEC should be blamed for the irregularities, Pinheiro countered that it was Aregbesola’s lawyer who brought the materials to court and announced the figures, not INEC.Also the unit called Wakajaye 1, where Sasegbon announced that he was tendering 339 ballot papers, Pinheiro said there were blank sheets in the pack and therefore, called for a recount. The recount showed that there were 404 ballot papers instead of 339 announced by Aregbesola’s lawyer.

http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=157199

The real brawo are not those villagers but the politicians and the lawyers,

I hope Aregbesola wont loss the case with this his lawyer that cannot count ooo,

Atiku was speaking against the backdrop of yesterday’s publication by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which listed a facility of N111,150,439 against his name.
In a statement issued by his media office in Abuja, the former Vice-President said that the account in question was an “old, dormant account” to which no attention had been drawn by his staff.

PoliticsMEND Say No More Ceasefire: by ayoola22(op): 7:07am On Oct 16, 2009
Nigeria militants end ceasefire

A hardline faction in Nigeria's main armed group says it is ending a three-month ceasefire and will resume attacks on the oil industry.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) had called the truce in the wake of an amnesty offer from the president.

Most Mend commanders and thousands of militants have disarmed under the deal.

Correspondents say the splinter group is tiny and is believed to be led by Henry Okah.

It says the Nigerian government has done nothing to address the underlying problems in the Niger Delta.

"The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta resumes its hostilities against the Nigerian oil industry, the Nigerian armed forces and its collaborators with effect from 0000 hours Friday, Oct. 16," the group said in an e-mailed statement.

Mend declared the 60-day ceasefire on 15 July to allow for peace talks shortly after Mr Okah was freed from prison.

It extended the ceasefire by a month in mid-September despite not having held any formal discussions with the government.

Last week, the authorities in Nigeria said as many as 15,000 oil militants active in the delta had surrendered under the two-month amnesty, which expired on 4 October.

The BBC's Caroline Duffield in Nigeria says the splinter group has called the disarmament ceremonies staged displays and vowed that they will not give up violence.

Militant groups have flourished in the delta amid a lack of governance and rule of law.

They claim to be fighting to help local people benefit from the region's oil wealth but fund their activities with oil theft, extortion and kidnapping.

Attacks on oil installations and their employees have cut Nigeria's output by a third in the past three years and helped raise oil prices.

University lecturers suspend strike for two weeks

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, on Friday, announced that it has suspended its strike which has lasted for more than three months.

Ukachukwu Awuzie, the national president of the union told NEXT in a telephone interview that the strike had been suspended for two weeks to allow for further negotiations between it and the Federal Government.

“We have suspended the strike to conclude the negotiations and sign the agreement,” said Mr. Awuzie.

He stated that the union believes in the ongoing negotiations.

“The understanding we had was duly signed by the minister (of education) himself, myself and NLC, so I don’t have any reasons to believe that

they will not keep their own part of the negotiation.”

The union had gone on an indefinite strike to press for the signing and implementation of the agreement it reached with the government in 2008, which included increased funding to the education sector.

FBI outlines retooled scams designed to prey upon people's trust and greed
By Kevin Graham, Times Staff Writer

TAMPA — The FBI has generated a list of the latest scams and ways people can protect against becoming victims.

Special Agent Dave Couvertier, a spokesman for the FBI Tampa Field Division, said there are "literally thousands" of scams making their way through cyberspace.

"Some old. Some that have evolved or been retooled," Couvertier said. "People have to understand that scams nowadays are nothing more than tricks that are devised to steal money from individuals or companies, which result in a profit for the scam artist."

I saw this online and was wondering which scam is the latest in Nigeria, no more gigolo trying to make money thinking i am a lady, no more Abacha's body guard mailing me that all the loot is with him, I think now its email from CBN asking for my account information.

Lets share experience of scam emails so we can all learn.
