Jazakumulllahu Khairan.
We should never judge people or find their faults Because we ourselves are not perfect.

The Noble Qur'an - Al-Hujurat 49:11
O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former):
Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than the (former):
Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames:
Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.

An Inspirational Story.

Why do we read Quran, we don't understand Arabic ?
An old man lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandfather was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Qur'an. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, 'Grandfather! I try to read the Qur'an just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?'

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, 'Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water.'

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, 'You'll have to move a little faster next time,' and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, 'I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough,' and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would Leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, 'See Grandfather, it's useless!' 'So you think it is useless?' The old man said, 'Look at the basket.'

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

'Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out.'

Say " Sadaqa Allah ul-`Azheem (Allah Says the Truth)" and Invoking Allah after Recitation

The Glorious Qur'an is sacred, so after finishing the recitation, one should say "Allah Says the Truth", bear witness that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has truly delivered the message, and testify that the Glorious Qur'an is all true. One should say: "Our Lord! You have said the Truth. Your messengers have delivered the message. We testify on all this. O Allah! Make us bear witness of the truth and observe justice in all our dealings." Then, one should supplicate Allah, asking for His Grace and Bounty.

One should restart reciting the Glorious Qur'an when he comes to its end in order not to render it disused or forsaken. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, when he finished reciting the Glorious Qur'an, used to read about five verses from the beginning in order not to render it deserted. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a man came and said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the best of all deeds? He said: Be like a man who is constantly on the go. The man said: what is meant by "a man on the go"? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: He is reciter of the Glorious Qur'an who starts reciting it from the beginning to its end, then starts from its beginning once more; whenever he settles he travels again.

It is recommended to gather one's household together upon finishing recitation of the Glorious Qur'an. Abu Bakr Al-Anbari said: Idris told us that Khalaf told us that Waki` told us on the authority of Mus`ar after Qatadah, that Anas Ibn Malik used to gather his household when he came to finish reciting the Glorious Qur'an and started to invoke Allah the Almighty.

Idris told us that Khalaf told us that Jarir told us on the authority of Mansour after Al-Hakam, who said: Mujahid, `Abdullah Ibn Ubai and others used to frequently recite the Glorious Qur'an. And when they come to finish reciting the whole Glorious Qur'an they brought us because mercy descends upon finishing recitation of the Qur'an.

Idris told us that Khalaf told us that Hasheem told us on the authority of Al-`Awwam after Ibrahim Al-Taimi, who said: The Angels pray and supplicate for the sake of those who finish reciting the Glorious Qur'an at the beginning of day till the evening comes, and for those who finish it at the beginning of evening till the day comes. He added: For this, they preferred to finish reciting it at the beginning of either day or evening.

I dont know but i kind of feel free and more comfortable reciting In English,Is this strange or normal for new converts and wud fade away with time?
My husband in order to help me has taken pains translating in both languages, tried hard morn, noon and nite to teach me but i still see myself preferring English. Is this abnormal  undecided
Dont worryyyy,
Sister believe me reciting in Arabic is very very satisfying and more comfortable. The way we pronounce Arabic in English is not right. For example in Suratul Fathiha We recite 'Ghairil maghlubi alaihim.' The 1st letter 'Ghain' is pronounced from the back of our throat Not the like the 'G' in english. Most of the letters in Arabic cannot be pronounced properly in English. Reciting Quran without proper pronunciation is equivalent to not reciting it.  I learnt to read Quran in Arabic, even though i dont know the meaning, the satisfaction and the tranquility one  get from reciting Quran is unexplainable.

Even a marathon starts with the small first step. Take that first step and be patient. Initially concentrate on reciting the Quran even if you cannot keep up with the translation. Inshallah you ll be reciting Quran beautifully soon.

P.s Use the digital Quran you have. Its very easy to learn while you listen to it. Or you can download this one. It is a very good software that will help you (this link was posted in NL few months back)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said, "When two Muslims fight (meet) each other with their swords, both the murderer as well as the murdered will go to the Hell." He was then asked, "O Allah's Messenger! We understand why the murderer would go to Hell, but what about the murdered one?" The Prophet replied, "He surely had the intention to kill his companion."

Seek (beneficial) knowledge,
because seeking it for the sake of Allaah is a worship.
And knowing it makes you more God-fearing;
and searching for it is jihad,
teaching it to those who do not know is charity,
reviewing and learning it more is like tasbeeh.
Through knowledge Allaah will be known and worshipped."

IslamRe: Curious About Islam, facts About Islam. by azharuddin: 5:01pm On Dec 11, 2010
Very well said Lagosboy.

@hymen
Just because some muslims have low regard for woman does not indicate Islam has a low regard for women. Man and Woman are equal but not Identical. Both of them have different priorities.

Modern culture implies that Women should be free from the kitchen. On the contrary the fact is, its easier to go for work and make money, But the more difficult and important work is of the mother to raise children to  proper well behaved decent adults. If the father is sick n doesnt go for job for a week its ok. But if the mother sick for just one day we can imagine what pitiful condition that house will be. lol.

Women are sensitive, need very good care and should be protected. But does that mean Women are weak? NO, absolutely not. I can declare without hesitation no Man (including myself) will be able to go through the difficulties and pain of 40 weeks of pregnancy and then child birth. No Man can match the  protection a child gets from a Woman. But thanks to modern media they convey the wrong information that looking after the household is a weak thing.

Islam always have high regard for women. Quran speaks against female infanticide which was common in Arabia at that time.
When one of them gets a baby girl, his face becomes darkened with overwhelming grief.
Ashamed, he hides from the people, because of the bad news given to him. He even ponders: should he keep the baby grudgingly, or bury her in the dust. Miserable indeed is their judgment.[16:58,59]

There are a lot more of such examples. As Lagosboy mentioned just ask your queries, Inshallah you will get the answers.
Allah knows best.
