Brothers and sisters lets keep our disagreements apart and stay united. I am sure we ALL agree on one thing: 'La ilaaha illallah muhammadurasoolullah'.

Allah will let the people know his real intention (on the Day of Resurrection), and he who does good things in public to show off and win the praise of the people, Allah will disclose his real intention,  (and humiliate him).

Salam,

The Quran is the irrefutable word of Allah.

But Allah has commanded us to follow the prophet,

We know that the hadiths were compiled by men who would inevitably make mistakes. But great pains were taken to ensure that the hadiths were authentic.

The hadith should be followed only in the light of the Quran, But to reject it altogether is wrong, Sayings of the prophet are very much a part of the religion,

May Allah guide us all!!
Ameen.

Be careful while learning stuff online. I think you should stick to people who have real knowledge in the religion and the ones you trust like Lagosboy.
I have noticed some ppl here make statements about religious topics with a narrow mind and minimum knowledge. May Allah protect us from such false Information. Ameen.

Is there an arabic school or something nearby, ?
Reciting the Quran from the arabic text(even without knowing the meaning) is a very delightful experience. Its very easy to learn to recite the Quran. Its important we pronounce each letter properly or we will not get the benifit. Search for online classes too or videos from youtube. All it takes is a small effort but the reward for it is infinite, !

IslamRe: Muslims: What Did You Learn In Islam Recently? by azharuddin: 4:40am On Nov 29, 2010
I came across the following article recently please read it:

    A few months before I was born, my dad met a stranger who was new to our small town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer, and soon invited him to live with our family.

         As I grew up I never questioned his place in our family. In my young mind, each member had a special niche. My brother, Omar, five years my senior, was my example. Zakiyah, my younger sister, gave me an opportunity to play 'big sister' and develop the art of teasing. My parents were complementary instructors- Mom taught me to love the word of Allah, and Dad taught me to obey it.

         But the stranger was our storyteller. He could weave the most fascinating tales. Adventures, mysteries, and comedies were daily conversations. He could hold our whole family spell-bound for hours each evening. If I wanted to know about politics, history, or science, he knew it. He knew about the past, understood the present, and seemingly could predict the future. The pictures he could draw were so life like that I would often laugh or cry as I watched. He was like a friend to the whole family. He took Dad, Omar and me to our first major league baseball game. He was always encouraging us to see the movies and he even made arrangements to introduce us to several movie stars. The stranger was an incessant talker. Dad didn't seem to mind - but sometimes Mom would quietly get up - while the rest of us were enthralled with one of his stories of faraway places - go to her room, read her Quran and pray. I wonder now if she ever prayed that the stranger would leave.

        You see, my dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions. But this stranger never felt obligation to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our house - not from us, from our friends, or adults. Our longtime visitor, however, used occasional four letter words that turned my ears and made Dad squirm. To my knowledge the stranger was never confronted. My dad didn't permit alcohol in his home - as good Muslims should. But the stranger felt like we needed exposure and enlightened us to other ways of life. He offered us, cigarettes, beer, and other alcoholic beverages often. He talked freely (probably much too freely) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing. I know now that the stranger influenced my early concepts of the man-woman relationship.

         As I look back, I believe it was the grace of Allah that the stranger did not influence us more. Time after time he opposed the values of my parents. Yet he was seldom rebuked and never asked to leave. More than thirty years have passed since the stranger moved in with the young family on Bangladesh Road. He is not nearly so intriguing to my Dad as he was in those early years. But if I were to walk into my parents' den today, you would still see him sitting over in a corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures, His name you ask? We called him TV.

[This article hasn't been written by me. It was passed onto me by a Brother called Ibrahim Ahmed and so please make du'a for him and for the entire Ummah. Pray that we are all protected from the fitnah of our time and future times. Ameen]

Don't let the system brainwash you and your children.

Sorry bro, did not mean to make you feel down. Please accept my apologies.

No no,  I dont have anything against you in my heart.
May Allah shower you with ample blessings and guide you in the right path. Ameen.

Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu ‘anhu, reported that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam, said:
    “Do not be envious of one another;
do not artificially inflate prices against one another;
do not hate one another; do not shun one another;
and do not undercut one another in business transactions;
and be as fellow-brothers and servants of Allah.
    A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He neither oppresses him nor humiliates him nor looks down upon him.
Piety is here – and he pointed to his chest three times.
It is evil enough for a Muslim to hold his brother Muslim in contempt.
All things of a Muslim are inviolable for another Muslim: his blood, his property and his honour.”

He replied, "She will go to Paradise."

Brother even I had doubts about Hadith at one point of my life. But I didnt know what a hadith really was back then.

   Nobody is denying the fact about the Quran's 100% authenticity. The Quran says to follow our Messenger(saw) teachings.
Our Messenger(saw) explained the Quran to the ashaba(companions) in 'words and by action'. The ashaba taught the 'same words and actions' to other new muslims. These 'words and actions of the Prophet(saw)' which we quote is called the Hadith.

If you want to know more about how Hadith is transmitted and how its authenticity is verified, I will be happy to oblige.
May Allah guide you, me and all of us in the right path. Ameen.

Nowhere in the Quran do we come across a statement like: “Obey God and Muhammad.” “Obey God and his messenger” is the expression used.
"Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, " (surah Nur: 54)

"And obey Allah and the Messenger that you may obtain mercy" (Surah Aal-Imran: 132)

"O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, " (Surah An-Nisa: 59)

"And when it is said to them: "Come to what Allah has sent down and to the Messenger," you see the hypocrites turn away from you with aversion" (Surah An-Nisa: 61)

"We sent no Messenger, but to be obeyed by Allah's Leave, " (Surah An-Nisa: 64)

"But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O Muhammad sallalahu alayhi wasallam) judge in all disputes between then, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission" (Surah An-Nisa: 65)

"And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, such are the successful" (Surah Nur: 52)

"O you who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger and render not vain your deeds" (Surah Muhammad: 33)

"Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, " (Surah At-Taghabun: 12)

"Certainly, there is an excellent example for you in the Messenger of Allah, for him who looks forward to Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much." (Surah Al-Ahzab: 21)

You Just contradicted the Quran. Brother i dont want to argue but remember be VERY careful, i repeat VERY careful while declaring things about Islam. You just CONTRADICTED the Quran which is Allah's words!!!
It is VERY clear in the Quran that we should Obey Allah and his Messenger. Iblees will try to mislead us brother. We should not deviate from our Prophet(saw) teachings which is Allah's teachings.

I forgot to mention sadaqa,  Its the easiest thing to do,  with a huge benifit and certainly will increase our imaan.

Mu‘aadh bin Jabal (r.a.) related from the Prophet (s.a.w.s.)  “Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.”
(Ahmad, Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah)
