''Keep yourself busy in remembering your faults so that you have no time left to remember the faults of OTHERS'' -Imam Sufyan ath-Thawri (Rahimahullah) |
Fudayl ibn 'Iyad (rahimahullaah) said: "If Iblees conquers the son Adam with one of the three [things] he says, 'I will not seek anything else from him. (1) being fond of himself, (2) deeming his deeds to be plentiful, and (3) forgetfulness of his sins.'" |
Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "No man, who wept out of fear of Allah, will enter the Fire until the milk returns to the bosom. Dust raised in the way of Allah and the smoke of Jahannam will never be joined together." [at-Tirmidhi] |
Lagosboy:Jazakumullahu Khairan. Yes a very good point. Only Allah knows what will be our status when we die. A believer can die a non believer by committing shirk just before death. Prophet Yousef (alaihi salaam) used to make dua to Allah to make him die as a Muslim. So imagine how important it is. We should realize we should not just live as a believer but also die as one. May Allah include us that catogery. Ameen. The Dua made by Prophet Yusuf (alaihi salaam) فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنُيَا وَالآخِرَةِ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ “The (only) Creator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Wali (Protector, Helper, Supporter, Guardian, etc.) in this world and in the Hereafter, cause me to die as a Muslim (the one submitting to Your Will), and join me with the righteous." Al-Qur'an, 12.101 (Suratul Yusuf) Ameen. |
ifyalways:I ve posted the reply for the second question in the other thread. As for the 1st question, Yes gold i haraam for men. It is reported by Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, took some silk in his right hand and some gold in his left hand and then he said, "These two are haram for the males among my followers." (Reported in Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Hadith no. 1642 and also in An-Nasai, Hadith No. 5170.) Scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi gives a quote in his book trying to explain why gold is forbidden for males.: "There is a social aim underlying the prohibition of men wearing gold. The prohibition of gold and silk to males is part of a broader Islamic program of combating luxuriousness in living. From the Qur'anic point of view, luxurious living leads to weakness among nations and to their eventual downfall; the existence of luxury is also an expression of social injustice, as only a few can afford luxurious items at the expense of the deprived masses of people. In addition to this, luxurious living is an enemy of every call towards truth, justice, and social reform. Allah Almighty says: “And when We intend that We should destroy a township, we permit its luxury-loving people to commit wickedness therein. Then the word is proved true against it, and We then destroy it utterly.” ( Al-Israa’: 16) |
ifyalways:@Ify We are not supposed to pray for forgiveness for unbelievers as Allah have indefinitely placed them in Hell. Quran : Surat Tawba, verse 113: It is not ( fit ) for the Prophet and those who believe that they should ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even though they should be near relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are inmates of the flaiming fire. Committing shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the most punishable act. According to the Qur’an, a person who commits shirk will not be forgiven and will remain in Hell forever. Allah the Almighty says, “Surely, Allah does not forgive associating anything with Him, and He forgives whatever is other than that to whomsoever He wills.” (An-Nisaa 4:48 and 4:116) |
The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said : That the shaytan said to Allah: "I shall continue to lead Thy servants astray as long as their spirits are in their bodies." And Allah replied: "(Then) I shall continue to pardon them as long as they ask for My forgiveness." ❂[Al-Tirmidhi,Hadith 742] |
LadyT:Well NONE of us fear YOU. We fear Allah the Almighty!! |
The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Do not show joy at the misfortune of your brother, lest Allah have mercy on him and afflict you with misfortune." (Tirmidhi) |
DevotedOne:Ofcourse. Why didnt i think of that earlier. lol. |
Anas (Ra) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said: “A supplication made between the Adhan and Iqama is not rejected.” [An-Nasai and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (sound)] |
@tbaba Jazakumullahu Khairan. Great revert story, he puts a lot of jokes in between, but at the same time his story is really a good one. The best part is how he was convinced by Allah to convert. I m certainly forwarding this video to by brothers. |
Jazakumullahu Khairan. Can you increase the size of the Arabic text. Its a bit difficult to read. |
Assalamualaikum, making Dua whenever we can is important, because Allah is the only one that can help us in worldly affairs or in Hereafter. "And your Lord says: Call on me; I will answer (your prayer). But those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell in humiliation." [Mu'min: 60] "When my servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every supplicant when he calls on Me." [Baqarah:186] "Any Muslim who supplicates Allah with a supplication that does not contain any sin or cutting off of family relations, Allah will give him one of three things for it: 1. Either He will speedily answer his dua 2. or He will save it for him until the Hereafter 3. or He will avert something bad from him equal to the value of his dua. (Explanation: Almighty Allah either grants the prayer we make, or if the supplication is not being accepted, He removes some future trouble that was destined for us, or He grants us in full in the Hereafter). [At-Tirmidhi]. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH), "The supplication of every one of you will be granted if he does not get impatient and say (for example `I supplicated my Rubb but my prayer has not been granted'.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was asked: "At what time does the supplication find the greatest response?'' He (PBUH) replied, "A supplication made during the middle of the last part of the night and after the conclusion of the obligatory prayers.'' [At-Tirmidhi]. |
This story is a reality check. |
Jazakumullahu Khairan. |
Yes Imam Shafi is well known for his logic. When i read that quote i was wondering, do we worry enough about our religion, ![]() |
@jarus There a post in this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-559456.0.html which is highly revolting. We should not allow ppl to say bad things about our Prophet (saw) in this forum. Hope you will delete such stupid statements. |
Ameen. |
“All humans are dead except those who have knowledge; and all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds; and those who do good deeds are deceived, except those who are sincere; and those who are sincere are always in a state of worry.” [said by Imam Shafi (rahimullah)] |
As a scholar once said: "The believer speaks little, but does much. And the hypocrite talks a lot, but does little. The believer's speech is wisdom, his silence is contemplation, his gaze is pondering, his actions are righteous. So if this is your state, you shall perpetually be in worship" - Fudayl bin Iyyad |

To everyone out there, take a look at this video by brother Nouman. Just because we learnt the Quran or few Hadith doesnt qualify us to make our own opinions or argue about the religion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftp2qRg2xz4 Lets all not forget that Iblees was thrown out of heaven because of his arrogance. He disobeyed Allah when he commanded him to prostate to Adam (alayhi salaam) due to his arrogance. Surat Al-A’raaf, Verse (12),"…I am better than him (Adam), you created me from fire, and you created him from clay." Allah knows best. Save us from falling into the trap of our own arrogance, Include us in the group of your humblest slaves. Ameen. |
muhsin:That would be a great idea bro, No use arguing about such things, For the past few weeks all i see is arguments! |
LeoChinedu:Inshallah. |
The Prophet (pbuh) said: "Convey (my teachings) to the people even if it were a single sentence." (Bukhari) |
Ameen. |
Really difficult to choose, since there are a lot of really good contributors. I ll go for babs for his long and informative posts. |
Barakah Juma'a Here are a few points about what the Imam said during the Friday Sermon: He stressed on the fact we should be very afraid of Hellfire. The fuel of Hell is men and stones. He then mentioned 4 deeds which will help us from escaping from Hell. 1. One who takes part in congregational prayer for 40 consecutive days. The person should be present in the Jamath from the start of the prayer(ie from the moment the Imam says 'Allahu Akbar'.) 2. One who prays Dhuha prayer every day for one year. Dhuha prayer is a sunnath prayer which can be performed from 20mins after sunrise till the adhan of Zuhr prayer. 3. One who prays 4 rakat of sunnat prayer before and after Zuhr prayer. 4. One who performs Hajj 3 times, then Hellfire is haraam for him. All the 4 mentioned people will be saved from the Fire of Hell. May Allah give us the blessing to be in these category and may Allah save us from the fire of Hell. Ameen. |
