You guys should keep living in denial. Please what direct access to the sea does SE have? Maybe I am looking at another map of Nigeria. SE HAS NO DIRECT ACCESS TO THE SEA!!! The OP talked about the ship that was tugged to Onitsha. Please from where did the ship come from? Is it not Onne in PortHarcourt? Is PH now SE? Stop living in denial. SE land is generally poor for agriculture! What major CASH CROP comes from SE? Cocoa? cashew? sesame seed? shea nut? ginger? coffee? None of them is grown in any commercial quantity in SE. SE has limited natural resources! Even the coal from SE is seen as lower quality based on quality you can find elsewhere. SE has a major erosion problem which will make construction expensive. SE has a very low water table that's why they rely on tankers for water. SE market is relatively small. Proof? Igbos are scattered everywhere and need other markets to make money. SE has no train routes which will hinder commerce. I can go on and on. The truth of the matter is that SE is very vulnerable economically, politically and strategically. Until igbos go back home and start building instead of behaving like IDPs, you lot will remain forever weak and vulnerable. I mean, see how FG is dealing with IPOB! There is no fear because they know you lot are weak and trapped! |

Sammy07: . As usual dem dey boast. The write-up sef can give you headache. |
NGpatriot:Apparently the Ondo to Lagos Road has begun. I can’t confirm this but I heard it has started even though work is slow. The basis for the road is the proposed Port in Ondo state. I agree that Ogun State has struggled in terms of ramping up infrastructure to accommodate the Lagos overflow. Luckily the Lagos-Ibadan express way Project is making good strides. Julius Berger are doing a fantastic job I can tell you. The road will really open up Ogun State especially the Sagamu to Mowe/Ibafo axis. Add the Lagos-Ibadan rail project that is almost complete and the mind begins to get excited! |
NGpatriot:Fashola is also my favorite! That man has vision! I’m just glad we got the Dangote Refinery situated in the SW. As you have clearly shown, the multiplier effects will be massive and it’s for the long-term. I wonder how the SS folks are feeling. It’s a real slap on their collective faces and a massive vote of no confidence in them as a people. It’s the people that make the environment conducive for business. In that regard the SS has failed woefully. I hope that the light rail project is given more attention as if will really boost Lagos and materially improve the quality of life for the residents. |
NGpatriot:Man! The opportunities are massive! At this rate you will give the Ibos high blood pressure! Lol. The multiplier effects will even cross into Ogun and the SW region considering the fact that the Lagos-Ibadan rail project is 90% complete—the port connection segment is the main work left. This rail line will really integrate the SW region and especially boost Ogun state given its proximity to Lagos. Real Estate prices are also set to rise in many areas in Ogun just as we’re seeing in the Lekki axis. I’m also glad that the governors have seen the importance of security hence the establishment of Amotekun. This will further make the SW the premier destination in Nigeria and the West African region. Long live Ooduwa!!! |
NGpatriot:You’re very correct. A grade companies are simply not interested. Worse for them, manufacturing doesn’t make sense in SE because the markets and export terminal is and will continue to be in the SW—we have already seen why SS ports are pretty much a write-off. Any sensible industrialist will manufacture in SW to massively save on transportation cost. Indeed, that’s why the manufacturing base that existed in SE in the 1980s and early 1990s seized to exist! No purchasing power in the region and to far from Lagos ports. See how Ogun has massively benefited from manufacturers looking for more space, cheaper land, and less bottlenecks tied to a tight Lagos. Our access to the sea is a massive advantage and it’s good to see Ogun and Ondo joining in the port party. Recently there are some Ibos trying to claim SE is not landlocked. They said they can build ports in some river lol. They don’t know that even if it was possible (highly unlikely) ships will still have to pass SS which is a no go area for the shipping companies. It will be interesting to see how everything unfolds. |
NGpatriot:Even more fantastic news! All these moves will really become evident in 5-10yrs from now. In that time you will probably not see anything tangible coming from SE given the governors they have. It was until SW did Amotekun that suddenly they too realized that Fulani herdsmen were pillaging them. Let’s just keep praying that God will continue to guide SW to navigate this terrible union called Nigeria. |
PHAYOL81:They are in denial as the world is passing them by. As you mentioned, Ondo wants to build a seaport while two will be in Lagos after the Lekki Port is complete. Dangote Refinery has built a port too. What will happen is that virtually all the port traffic will be in the SW and they will find a way to complain or claim they developed Ondo state and Lekki. Ekiti about a week ago or so massively slashed the Right of Way (RoW) cost and today they announced a partnership that will see broadband technology installed. It will have a big positive impact on the state and business. What are their governors doing? When the positive impact is felt some of them will move to Ekiti and say they “developed” Ekiti by building 2 by 2 shops. The truth is that big investors simply don’t fancy the SE. The Ibos themselves don’t fancy their region that’s why they only build house for Christmas and yet they claim marginalization. Any serious minded person will know that real development is driven by the private sector. Waiting on FG is a stupid thing to do. If they want development they need to go back home and invest! I just thank God that i’m from the SW despite being in this quagmire called Nigeria. Cheers bro!

mystery22:You can’t even write. I’m first and foremost a YORUBA man before anything. There’s nothing like Ogun State, Lagos State, Ondo State etc. I see SOUTH WEST!!! We Yorubas are homogenous people and it will always be that way whether you jealous Ibos like it or not. It’s you people that like to say “Yoruba Muslim” but na lie! E no go work! It is in South West you will see a Muslim man marry a Christian woman. Daughter is Christian, son is Muslim. We go celebrate Sallah and Christmas in our SW. You go just give yourself BP because you know say Igbo no get advantage. GO BACK TO YOUR EROSION RIDDEN MUD LAND!!! We don’t want you in SW!!! |
PHAYOL81:Guy that Onne port is only useful because of the oil and gas companies that have no choice but to use it. The level of piracy in that section of the Gulf of Guinea means normal ships will not dock there because it’s too dangerous and expensive (insurance) thanks to ND militants. So Onne is pretty useless for anything other than oil/gas. The oil/gas use is there out of a lack of alternative because it will be too costly to ship the oil from SS to Lagos by road. Dangote saw the rubbish going on in SS and rushed to build the refinery in Lagos. He has said that if oil flow from ND is disrupted he will buy it from the global market and ship it to the refinery. He has hedged his company from the nonsense that is happening in Niger Delta. Situating the refinery in Lagos shows a complete lack of confidence of private capital in the SS region because of the violence and myriad of other anti-development attitudes of the people. I mean look at Wike. Even Shell wants to move logistics operation from Rivers to Lagos. I guess they are tired of the militancy, hungry people there that are always asking for money and the tug Governor. When Shell moves finish they will blame FG and say there’s an “agenda” to hold them back. Clowns!
|
mystery22:Please you people should leave. You want SW to fail abi? Please leave! I’m begging you. Carry your mother and father join so SW can fail. You sef know dem no born ibo to leave. Where will they go? Imo? Dirty Abia? Enugu wey na only guest house dey. Abi na Anambra wey be Christmas town. You sef know. Nothing is in SE that’s why you people can’t stay in your house! I pity Ibo people because one day one day una go collect another £20. |
Oshigun:Don’t mind them. They are confusing presence with tax payment. As you rightly said, these are people that don’t pay tax in their region claiming they are the tax base of the richest state. It’s laughable. They don’t know that it’s the big business that actually account for most of the tax revenue. I hear say Alaba trader they pay tax lol. Bunch of boastful clowns! |
mystery22:You can barely string a complete sentence together. It’s not your type somebody argues with. No intellectual content. You’re probably one of those “boy boy” that didn’t go to school and stay in a shop somewhere in SOUTH WEST!!! Go back to your erosion-riddled land!!! We don’t want you people here. Leave our “skull mining” region for us. SE is not and can never be a match to SW. How many South Westerners do you see in the East? That’s right, very few. We are happy to stay home because things are happening here. GO AND DEVELOP YOUR EROSION LAND!!! |
golddust6000:There is way more business and transactions going on in Kano than Enugu can dream of. Do you even know that Kano has the second largest VAT receipt in the country after Lagos? What exactly is going on in Enugu in terms of business Kano is also the central travel hub for the Core North. Most Ibos talk of restructuring with their eyes on SS oil. You guys are landlocked so restructuring will not favour you if you’re not friendly with the SW. shipping companies are not interested in docking in the SS because of piracy which makes it too dangerous and expensive in terms of security and insurance cost. Even shell wants to move its logistics operations from Rivers to Lagos. Rivers people are protesting but not calling their militants to order. SE is not as safe as they think in a restructuring. The region is small. There’s next to no industry, the land is poor and the human capital has emigrated. Why will major companies go there? Is there demand? If i’m manufacturer who exports why will I build in Enugu when I have to take it all the way to Lagos ports? Forget SS ports because the shipping companies wouldn’t dock there. This shows that the ability of the SE to industrialise will be severely curtailed by lack of direct assess to the sea. It’s just not as rosy as you lot make it out to be. This your ignorance is much bigger than I thought. Please save yourself the embarrassment.
|
omonnakoda:Don’t mind him. It’s jealousy mixed with ignorance. He doesn’t understand that it’s demand/supply that plays the key role in price differentials. I just get so irritated by the Igbos sometimes. How can they hate a people and a region that has been a blessing to them as a people especially post the civil war devastation? It’s disturbing to be honest and shows that we Yorubas are just too liberal and risk having enemies in our mist. We need to buckle up and be on guard. Anyone or people that can’t respect the people and traditions of their hosts should be thrown out. |
golddust6000:How do you know i’m not a Lagosian? You just assumed. Go and do your checks. Dangote and Flour Mills are building the roads to the ports—SEA PORT NOT AIRPORT!!! The international carriers will always prefer Lagos because that’s where the demand is. How many people on the flight have their final destination in Lagos compared to say Enugu or Uyo? Don’t be surprised that the ratio could be like 90:10. It will be more expensive to land in Enugu or Uyo because of simple economics. If they land in Lagos there will have far more passengers to pick up because of demand compared to if the land in Enugu. If you’re in the airline business wouldn’t you prefer to land where you will see more passengers to pick up? It’s that economy of scale that will make it Lagos ticket cheaper not some hidden government “agenda”. Also why does Lagos still dominate Abuja airport even though Abuja is the capital? It’s demand and supply. There’s little demand in SE and SS!!! You say Lagos can’t boast of basic infrastructure. While I will admit that the infrastructure is not good enough, it’s improving. For your information a big part of the infrastructure problem is driven by so many people from other regions (especially SE) trooping into the state at a pace that creates infrastructural challenges. You have the smallest state with the largest population and population density. So you Ibos are a fundamental cause of Lagos’s infrastructural challenge. Maybe if you lot returned to your region and developed it Lagos will be better for it. By the way no SE state comes anywhere close to Lagos in terms of infrastructure and development. Or you wan deny that one ![]() |
golddust6000:Okay let us assume he’s not. Please show us facts to back your point. Send a link. Me and you know you picked up what you said from the sky. Why wouldn’t the foreigners land in Lagos. What are they going to do in Uyo or Enugu? What’s happening in those places that will tempt them to come. Note that the FG has largely abandoned Lagos. See the Federal roads that lead to the ports in Lagos which bring in over N1trillion a year in revenue. Is it not Dangote and Flour Mill fixing it in return for tax abatement. Lagos is what it is today because of the private sector and the much better business-friendly environment. See how the private sector rallied around the Governor when COVID-19 started. Compare that to Rivers or Kano. Forget the government. The SE is just not attractive enough for investment. Dangote chose to build his refinery in Lagos even though the oil is in the ND. Why? Is that government policy too? Why did investors choose to build another sea port in Lekki instead of SS?—of course we know SE is landlocked. You guys are just boasters who are in denial. There’s nothing to write home about in the SE and the flow of private investment towards the SW is the clearest example you need. |
mystery22:And yet you Ibo people are trooping to Ogun State like there’s war in SE. You guys are pathetic. You insult SW yet you come In droves. Does that make sense? Even in the movie you hear them say “i’m leaving the village to go hustle in Lagos”. Now add Ogun state join. What’s so terrible about SE that you guys only want to go there on Christmas? . One day your cup will get full again and you’ll be chased out! Continue. |
mystery22:“Build SEAport in Imo RIVER”. Can you see you’re a clown. Isn’t it rivers that feed into oceans? How can you build a sea port in a river? How do massive ships get to the river? Or you think it’s easy like that. What you guys don’t know is that virtually no shipping company wants to dock in the Niger Delta area because of piracy. Niger Delta area of the Gulf of Guinea accounted for 60% of PIRACY ATTACKS LAST YEAR!!!! They simply wouldn’t come because you guys have used your hands to destroy your future! Why will investors go to Enugu Airport? What’s happening in Enugu that will draw capital? Nothing! You lot are just time wasters.
|
mystery22:You guys are in denial. Do you wonder why private investors are building a new bigger better port in Lekki but are not doing so in SS (SE is landlocked)? They know it will be a big mistake. Do you know that the Niger Delta part of the Gulf of Guinea accounted for most of the piracy attack that happened globally last year? It was something like 60% of recorded attacks. The report said international shipping companies avoid that area. This means they will dock in Lagos no matter the congestion. Are you not surprised that Dangote built his refinery in Lagos even though the oil is in Niger Delta? . You guys keep blaming government and saying there’s an agenda. The private sector is saying they don’t want to establish anything tangible is any area except the SW. we’re seeing another $220million coming in to the Lekki Free Trade zone of recent. It’s no coincidence. The SE and SS see this and they get jealous because they cannot compete. Shell even wants to move its logistics operation from Rivers to Lagos. Some of them were protesting . They forget that the Governor (Wike) they were hailing is very bad for development. You guys should continue beefing SW while she quietly grows. Eventually maybe you lot will have to run away again and eat grass in your erosion-ridden Biafra. You lot need SW waaaayyyy more than we need you and you know it .
|
Openbusiness:I can smell the envy in this nonsense conspiracy theory you have put out. You guys are just jealous of the SW and will come up with nonsense to feel better about yourselves. I wouldn’t be surprised that you probably live in the SW yet to beef your host. Let everybody just go back to their region. Pathetic! |
purplecoco:When I see things like this is just shake my head. He’s her boyfriend not her father. There’s lockdown that is affecting everyone but her problem is hair and cream How shallow-minded. It’s girls like this that hold young naive men back. The money they should be saving and investing they will be using to buy cream, hair, dress, provisions, rent etc for a girl that has no long-term benefit in their life. OP maybe you need to reconsider your girlfriend’s presence in your life. She clearly lacks awareness and maturity or probably doesn’t even give a real damn about you. Thread wisely! |
Kudos man! It’s good to try things and live outside our comfort zone at times. |
That women are “mysterious” has to be one of the biggest joke of all time. I personally find women pedestrian and lacking any depth. Indeed, women are particularly predictable and uninteresting. Even look at Nairaland. Ever wonder why it’s men that carry topics here? More often than not female rarely ever contribute meaningfully to posts. You here things like “i’m here to read comments “ or “getting my chair and popcorn “. When it’s time to talk about experiences, again, it’s men who are the overwhelming contributors. Ever wonder why you rarely hear of female philosophers? Yes, real depth is the realm of men. It’s that depth that allows for the creation of things—which again is the realm of men. Even look at comedy which require creativity, it’s very rare to see a female comedian let alone a funny one. A woman is only mysterious to naive men and men who themselves lack depth. |
Guy your initial way was right. Your lack of economic power has deeply affected your confidence (it shouldn’t but that’s who you are). This lack of confidence probably makes your come off as needy which is an attraction killer for women. Worse, the more you make an effort to win the girl back the needier you look which makes you ever more irritating to the girl. The first thing you should do (I doubt you can) is to withdraw! You have already lost this battle. Now you need to refocus on yourself and how you can climb up the economic and social ladder. Make what has happened a source of motivation. The honest truth is that women only respect strength and are hypergamous in nature. Build yourself and they will come. Good luck! |
blowjohn:Honestly speaking Nigeria is a mere reflection of its people and especially the people in power. When the country has been predominantly ruled by people from the region with the lowest education level and general development we really shouldn’t be surprised. The likes of Buhari don’t take life seriously so they are not compelled to do the needful. Imagine if there was not the level of illiteracy and backwardness in the North and we used the $billions spent on Boko Haram war to actually equip our schools and hospitals. It’s so sad and unfortunate! |
To think that this is coming from the help minister. This is really pathetic. The use of a ventilator often occurs in the context of a MEDICAL EMERGENCY!!! This means that at a moments notice a patient can go into shock and need to be placed on life supporting devices like ventilators. Now this minister is saying that it is at such time that a ventilator will now be requested to be flown in from say Abuja to Lagos! I can’t believe i’m hearing this. What happens to the patient that can’t breath during the transit time? By the time the ventilator arrives the patient is most likely dead or worse brain dead! We are just synonymous with failure in this country. A ventilator cost N9m meaning that 1,000 ventilators will cost about N9-N10 billion give or take. Let this sink in. I say this because in a year we spend somewhere between N400billion and N1trillion of fuel subsidy! So it means that the government priorities fuel subsidy to equipping our hospitals to actually save lives. Even the National Assembly budget is bigger than either education and health budget. We really are a cursed nation! I regret being a Nigerian! |
Nairalandmonika:Nairaland and misinformation. To think you made this false statement with so much confidence. Please next time know that Google is your friend. That said, I get your underlying point. We still shouldn’t have gas issues seeing that we have the 9th largest proven gas reserve in the world.
|
Yenefer:If you were someone that reads and actually knows what’s happening in the world besides hair and makeup you would have heard that the majority of deaths are tied to people of older age with UNDERLYING HEALTH CONDITIONS. Please pick up and book and read and stop showing your lack of training and exposure. |
ifeanyija:Click the “Get Started” link and tell me what you see. Maybe you didn’t even bother to click it because if you did you’ll see the site is suspended! I’m shocked that you guys either don’t dig deep enough or you’re just in denial because the greed is too much. Please which business can legitimately give you 10-20% per month! Don’t tell me FX trading because I started trading FX before most of you even heard it (12years ago). It’s a scam!!! Nigerians can never learn as we’re lazy, greedy and dishonest! |
oluwaseyi000:I don’t know how some of you folks can be so greedy and lazy to do the simplest of due diligence. The site has been suspended!!!!! You could even bother to check. I guess greed has clouded your judgement. I don’t know you but it still stinks to see people lose their money. DON’T GO NEAR THEM!!!

? Since Abuja had been the federal capital which would equate the years lagos had as one (30 years) around next year, what happens to the Airport at least, if having no chance of a seaport can be excused? Why hasn't the Airport overtaking MMIA as the busiest? Even when officials messed up landing equipments a while ago at the Lagos MMIA, the airlines coming in would rather opt for Ghana instead of any in Nigeria... Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, none else? To them it was either Lagos or nothing. Is that another political jargons from the FG?
