spodathug: As per owerri I am not impressed with okorocha the town is still a very small town not growing nor expanding with Wider roads and city planning, suburbs like irete, avu, obinze, ihiagwa, nekede, naze, akwakuma, amakohia etc should be well planned with streets but this present government aint doing any thing about it,they leave people to build houses any how with no mapped out street and major road even if not tarred for the main time as its been done in lagos and other yoruba cities. on Oguta the most educated town in imo state,a potential federal government inland port town,a town with fresh water swamp,a town with oil/gas activities,a lake and tourist town, finally a huge agricultural potential town, okorosha government still left the town unplanned with wider streets,as in en I don tire for mallam okorosha I swear. hmmmmm, see another liar. Pls millionaireman clarify this man, he said that owerri is a small town. |

spodathug: Very impressed so far with orlu pics, can somebody pls beg okorocha to stop littering everywhere in owerri with roundabouts even where its obviously not called for, okorocha also betrayed my trust on him now I visited owerri and found out he has abandoned the ohakim road project with bridges at amakohia and orji, what one will see in this places now are roundabouts, the enugu state government has constructed bridges in enugu urban but the only one necessary in owerri for now mallam okorocha has turned the place to a roundabout. Okorocha is also still failing to expand owerri the state capital with wider roads, the city still has only 3 to 4 major roads compared to other old cities in igboland,so fed up of okorosha and presently we have no better of person. On other cities orlu and okigwe he tried but he so much neglected the town with the highest potential in imo state which is oguta, will justify my claim on oguta in my next post, typing from my phone so paragraphs are not real. hmmmmm, are you serious? |

abagoro: Judging from my movement around Orlu and immediate environs, 2 roads are unfinished.
1 is old Owerri road but it looks like there is serious work and it will be completed year end or early next year. The 2nd road though short could have helped ease movement within Orlu central but looks completely abandoned and overgrown with grass. There is what looks like ITC park, a lively joint and children's park on that road. I dont know the name but here is the picture. Okorocha needs to complete this road. Abagworo is this not the uncompleted road you were talking about?

millionaireman: berem, I cannot sell my town for a plate of porridge. This pit below was dug near St Joseph Catholic Church at the centre of Orlu by Okorocha govt to collect flood. The pit remains, but flood problems have worsened since the pit was dug. Let me break it down to some people in A,B,C form: what is required is a duct or gutter to channel those floods to a nearby Ogidi valley less than 1 km from where the floods collect - not this pit.
Abagworo, I think understands what I mean here.
Late Gov. Ikwechegh started the drainage system. And without the drainage system completed, a short time from now, more of the roads in Orlu on display here now shall be washed away. more of st. Joseph axis!

abagoro: Where exactly is St Joseph. There was actually no flooding in Orlu the day I took the pictures but I have read on internet about flood problems of Orlu just like I also read of Owerri, Enugu, onitsha Aba and Uyo. Abagworo pls don't mind Tabletman, my friend here was born and brought up in Orlu city though he's from Nkwere. And he has keep on hammering to me that there's no flooding in orlu now unlike before the inception of the present administration. St. Joseph junction is the last junction you'll get if you are going to nkwere from Orlu. Below are more pix.

tabletman1: Never wanted to comment on this thread.
But with this mr man, you lied and accuse someone else of lying.
That st. Joseph normally get flooded whenever it rains, not just a serious rain but 2mins rain. Abagowro actually knows this that's why he mistook st joseph for st augustine, why don't u snap the double two storey buildings behind st joseph? People in that compound have packed out due to flooding. Farmlands and some houses normally get flooded at orlu especially around that st Joseph.
You people will still go there in dry season and get me pictures of those building when the occupants must have pack in to call me a liar. Mr. Man those buildings around that area have been like that before the construction of that drainage system. I'm not from Orlu but when i saw your post i called to Orlu to confirm the condition of the place before react ing to your post, and the reply was that no flooding at that st. Joseph junction and st. Joseph road, that where they are experiencing little flooding now is at Ama-Orji and that even the gutters dug by road sides are large enough to hold large volume of rain water. I'm not defending imo state, even millionnairenaija knows the true conditions of that place, I'm only commending the developmental stride Rochas has embarked upon. I'll and show the pix of that st. Joseph church. Below are roads in Orlu.

Pls tell that st. Joseph parish to renovate their church it's not govt that will renovate it for them. The church looks very old but it's not flooded as claimed by you, i have it's pix but will post it later cos I'm busy now. For the road complained by Abagworo, ie judis road, it's completed now but has been taken over by mechanics. What Orlu roads need now is road marking and sweeping, but not painting the center divider. |

millionaireman: To dig gutter or duct for Orlu central drainage system, let govt deploy a few policemen to ward off any intruders. In less than one month, the digging can be completed by two tractors. Udenwa had to use police to move traders from the old market to the new imternational market. If this Orlu central drainage system started by former governor Ikwechegh is not completed, most of these roads in Orlu being exhibited here shall wear away shortly. Water is greatest enemy to asphalt. Oga stop lying that drainage system has been completed, you are from Orlu, agreed, but just accept that you are not close to Orlu and don't know the state of that city right now. Before now I've been calling Orlu small town but yesterday i confirmed that Orlu is a city and the population has tremendously increased. Initially Orlu town was only Orlu(ie umuokpara where they have the Orlu cathedral), Umuna and Amaifeke but now it has expanded to Okporo, Owerriebeiri, ihioma, Okwuabali, and connected to Nkwere, a suburb of Orlu. Yesterday i drove round Orlu with friends and it rained that yesterday but i couldn't see any flooding around that st. Joseph. Below is the: -Orlu city drainage system which has long been completed and it looks very old and can contain a large volume of water. -The size of gutter being built in Orlu by the present administration , and this is how they did it for all the roads they constructed in Orlu which can hold large volume of water. You can see how dry it looks though it rained yesterday. -Road around st. Joseph which you've complained many times that normally flooded whenever it rains. -the new university axis which you know that apart from the university, Imo govt is also building many structures around that area.

abagoro: There is no living soul that was last in Imo State 2012 that will visit and deny the unbelievable improvement. While Orlu is moving to be like other State capitals Owerri is departing from the looks of typical Nigerian city.
The Orlu/Owerri federal highway is nearing complete dualization at a record low cost. When this is completed, the symbiotic effects will be to the advantage of Orlu town, Umuaka, Orodo, Nwaorieubi, Nkume, Amucha, Ubomiri etc as they will all be a continuum of Owerri-Orlu urban cluster. Abagworo just relax let me prove that man that he's a liar. I went to Osina, Ideato north and Okporo Orlu yesterday and i saw many developmental strides in orlu axis, many new govt structures like the new general hospitals, the new still acquisition center, the new school of health, the level of work on the new stadium, the new Orlu building material market and many unknown structures, but millionnaija has been misinforming people now that Rochas only built roads in Orlu without things that can attract population boom. |

millionaireman: To be frank, too many in Orlu are complaining. Okorocha has road development as his development programme in Orlu. But lots of the Orlu urban roads started by Okorocha govt about two and half years ago are not completed, and they create difficulties in getting from point A to B. The roads built by previous govts also rot away - no repairs. In Owerri, those old roads get repaired. As for the absence of drainage system in Orlu, no more politics. Issue is that flood water from Stadium area, international market and IMSUTH areas collect at the area of St. Joseph Church/School. It is worse now. Only solution is to dig a duct or gutter less than 800m to channel the floods to a nearby valley. Playing politics with excuse of universal flooding is not it. |

You can lie without conscience, which people in Orlu are complaining, and where and where are they experiencing flooding? Enugu road, asika ilobi road, amaigbo/ihioma road, owu avenue, new and old owerri road, Judis avenue are completed so what are you trying to say? I left Orlu just yesterday night, while in Orlu i interrogated many people and said that anybody who speaks bad about Rochas(Nwanna) developmental stride is a Devil and can never see good thing in life, so base on this premise i can conclude that you are a Devil and can never accept good thing in life. |

I will have to try and cover Mbaise and Ngor-Okpala soon. Okigwe pictures will be highly appreciated. i don't know when I'll be chanced, i will try and see if i can cover okigwe. But the ones I'm showing now is Ideato north and south. The last pix is obiagu junction Ogboko, from there you go to the new Imo-European university.
