And yet there are millions of akwa ibomite resident in Imo state and sharing that small allocation. How many Imolites reside in Akwa ibom? I bet you can count it in one hand . That is how Akwa ibom is cheating everyone.

Oga leave this sentiment and don't drag me into it. Everyone has right to reside anywhere he or she desires.

Let's celebrate with Akwa ibom people, it's their turn to shine no one knows where the blessing will go tomorrow. Before 1999 Akwa ibom used to be the worst state in the whole of southeast and southsouth but today, it is the best. Back then everybody used to sing Calabar the small London but today, nobody think of Calabar again. Life is rotatory, so don't kill yourself tommorow might be your turn. I remember Uyo back then, nobody knows that a day like this will come.

God is great.

Not holding brief for any politicians ,but was Rochas allocation the same as Akpabio/Akwa ibom? Some of you do not think before you comment.

I love this question.
Some people will open their mouth say whatever they like without considering the amount of resources available for each state. The ratio of Akwa ibom allocation to Imo state allocation is 36billion : 5.4billion

After all these years, it never ceases to astound me that there are people who address a demented person like Chino with seriousness. He may be mentally ill, but his derangement is fed by people like you giving him attention. I don't understand it. Does it seem like you're addressing a normal human being? When you see mad men on the road, do you stop and start arguing with them?

Noted. But it's high time people from Anambra state caution him.

You must be very stupid to make such comment, I have every right to comment or say how or what I feel in Anambra thread because I am Igbo. Anambra progress is not for Anambra state rather for all Igbo.

Anambra is just a state name not a tribe, a boundary adjustment can put or remove a LGA from it. Any Anambra son or daughter has right too to comment in any Igbo state's thread.

B2MARIO this is the present condition of Aba. Abia state is gone, there's nothing like development in Abia state. Stop deceiving yourself. This is even to be mild because Aba is a sewage.

This is what you've been longing to do. You've been looking for an opportunity for you to display your peculiar madness. Now that you've done it, I hope you can rest now.

All these can no longer move us because we've known you and your tactics on nairaland, soon will start commenting and quoting yourself with your other monikers. All you want is someone from Abia to start posting the bad side of Anambra so that you will make the same statement you made in 2012 that "you are happy that you have achieved what you want". In Igbo, we have values and respect our culture and people. No Igbo man can behave the way you behave. Your blood is so strange to us.

Igbos are great but in terms of ranking using human development and individual achievement Anambra still take the lead followed by Imo, Abia, Delta Igbo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Rivers Igbo and Benue Igbo. We've already known our positions so what else should we be dragging. You always bring unnecessary dragging and comparison which every Igbo sons and daughters know the true state of things. Mind you Enugu and Ebonyi is not poor as you always portrayed here, evidence can be seen in their outlook and pattern of building.

I sensed that NBS used your comments on nairaland to draw their conclusion of the 2019 poverty ranking. In a state you see up to 500,000 5-storey buildings distributed all over the state and you used only 22,000 respondents in your research work and you place her far below a state you barely see a 2-storey building. That result is pathetic and should be rejected.

And what you posted here, there is no state in Nigeria that does not have a place worse than these. In the north, flood and stagnant water is chasing them away from their home, causing potholes and breakdown of roads and nobody is posting pictures to use them against them. You see how mad you are?

Since you are claiming Anambra, contribute something meaningful to this thread in a rational manner.

Pls can u name the sector Imo is better than Anambra... Imo is a one city state. Should be way easy to govern yet okorocha messed up

In all ramifications apart from trade, industry and commerce. All these things you are celebrating in Anambra today have been built in Imo state long ago Drop sentiment and tell your government the plain truth so as to motivate them to work. I am not comfortable with the level Anambra state is today considering her potentials in human and natural resources. Apart from individual development and contributions, are you sure Anambra is not the least in southeast in terms of government presence?

How's government presence in Awka as the capital city, Onitsha as a prominent Nigerian commercial city, Nnewi as it's foremost industrial city, Ekwulobia and Enugu ukwu as it's emerging towns compared to other states like Imo's Owerri, Orlu, Okigwe, Oguta and Nkwerre; Abia's cities and towns like Aba, Umuahia, Ohafia, Abariba and Igberre; Enugu's Enugu city and Nsukka town?

I will still repeat it, had it been it was Anambra state that Rochas ruled, today he will be seen as god. The ICC and international airport Obiano is building that's attracting much praises were equally constructed by Rochas in his state with the help of private sector attracted by him. He built one ICC and one investment center and numerous event centers, he built international cargo airport, he built numerous 8-lane roads in Owerri, he built 10 world class higher institutions, he built two stadia in Orlu and Okigwe, renovated primary and secondary schools in Imo state, dualised Intercity roads, gave out free buses and taxis, built Hero and Freedom squares, gave free education to all levels, started a multi storey car part and diasporan city, built controversial two flyovers and two tunnels, built Akachi tower, built Bongo apartments and Akachi apartments, dualised Orlu and Okigwe city major roads, built houses for widows, gave out school uniforms to primary and secondary schools' children. Very numerous to mention.

What signature project has Obiano completed apart from the ones built by Obi and Ngige?

Pray that God should open your eyes. Meanwhile, this is Aba and Abiriba.

Anambra is not interested in big names, they already have many of that. Anambra is interested in good governance and their is a chance that if Soludo becomes Governor, he will switch his attention to power at the centre by decamping to APC or PDP, thereby derailing everything just like Okorocha who ended messing Imo state up after starting well when he was in APGA

Guy, Okorocha did not mess any Imo state up, you people should stop spreading falsehood here.

I don't know why Anambra people criticize Rochas more than even Imo people themselves. Is there any political motivation behind it?

No matter the neglect and destruction of things in Imo state by the immediate past administrative, watch the below videos and see the hand of Rochas. Had it been that Rochas ruled Anambra state, today he will be seen and praised like god. Criticize Obiano to speed up his works and clean up Anambra instead of you criticizing other states that are better.

It’s frightening what has been going on in Imo state.
A state governor spent the state’s funds to build development projects. The next governor kills the projects because either the projects are not built in his home area, or the projects are not completed, or not done appropriately.

Imo state is unique in this.

University built with IMSG funds in Ideato is wasting because it’s not built in state capital area.

Owerri-Orlu dualized express road nearly completed by Okorocha government was demoted and destroyed by Ihedioha government to narrow single lane highway.

Are you sure of the bolded this man?
The only thing I know Ihedioha did was the scrapping of Dee Sam Mbakwe road, the attempted demolition of Akachi tower, the demolition of freedom square water fountain, the removal of the fancy overhead street lights and the closing of the newly established higher institutions.

Okorocha launches state airline [PHOTOS]

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha launches Imo Air on January 24, 2017.
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha launches Imo Air on January 24, 2017.
The first “Imo Air” flight landed at the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport in Owerri on Tuesday, January 24.

Imo state governor,

The airline is currently being operated on the government’s behalf by Dana Air because the state does not have the license to operate a full – blown airline yet.

“This is a happy moment in the State. The aim of going into the Air business is because I want to drive traffic to Imo State as Imo is genuinely becoming the fastest developing City outside Abuja and Lagos,” Okorocha said.

“For this, there is need for more airlines to cushion the effects of high traffic coming to the State. Imo government does not have an operating air license. So we needed to partner with a good and qualified airline operator.

“Hence, the choice of DANA Air because of its proven track record and sincerity of purpose. The Imo Air will be operated by DANA and we have a contract of ten years with them. We have five of this aircraft and the first one has just landed and four other ones will start operation in few weeks time.

“The International Cargo Airport will soon kick-start to supplement the efforts of Imo Air. In our pursuit of making Imo better, Imo International Cargo Airport will soon commence operations. Work is going on smoothly and by April God’s willing the fastest International Cargo Plane will arrive Imo State.

“This, we believe will help drive up commercial activities in the State. Imo is a hub for business and there is no better place to invest now in Nigeria than Imo State as inspite of the recession the State is still flourishing and progressing because of its visionary leadership," he added.

Okorocha also said that Imo Air will offer 10% discount to all Imo indigenes and would employ Imo sons and daughters to make up 30% of its staff.

With all the noise and fanfare then where's imo airline that okoroawusa wasted resources on? Where are the jets? 8yrs down the line, there's obviously nothing to show in terms of development anywhere in Imo state. Ndi Imo eri go unu. Useless old vagabond called abagworo should come and explain further.

It has been established by law. It is left for private sector to indicate interest and take over.

But what’s the need of Owerri was capital of this Umuahia was capital of that?

What is important is level of urbanization in every town before and now.

Calabar was the first capital of Nigeria. Not even a foolish Calabar man can now come out to say: because Calabar was capital of Nigeria, therefore Calabar must be made by government to have all development institutions in Nigeria, get all government patronage, while rest of Nigeria waits.
This is the impression our bros from Owerri drop here.

The funniest thing about Internet is that exposed the ignorance of the goons. The administrative headquarters of protectorates, northern and southern, were Lokoja and Calabar without Lagos Colony. When northern and southern protectorates were amalgamated, Lagos assumed the headquarter of the amalgamated protectorates. Enugu only became capital of eastern region due to large presence and economic interest of colonialists due to coal mine in Enugu. The only time Umuahia became administrative headquarter of Eastern region was during the war which Owerri also served as administrative headquarter. Again Calabar was only the administrative of the southern protectorate not eastern region.

Stop disgracing yourself. Umuahia was the second capital of eastern Nigeria and the capital of Owerri province. Lokoja was not the capital of northern protectorate it was only the administrative center of the British Royal company before the British government established protectorates and direct rule. The administrative capital of northern protectorate was Zengeru in the present Niger state before the regional capital was moved to Kaduna.

At the time of the protectorates, Nigeria had only 3 colonies i.e Lagos, northern and southern protectorates which had their capitals in Lagos, Zengeru and Calabar respectively. Go and look for Nigerian map as at 1953.

Province: capital/headquarter

2. Cameroon: -
3. Ogoja: Abakiliki
4. Onitsha: Enugu
5. Owerri: Umuahia
6. Rivers: Portharcourt

By the way, old Owerri province comprised the defunct Imo and Rivers States. Everything under Rivers province was part of Owerri province before Rivers province was created. The Eastern Region was an administrative region in Nigeria, dating back originally from the division of the colony Southern Nigeria in 1954. Its first capital was Calabar. The capital was later moved to Enugu and the second capital was Umuahia. The region was officially divided in 1967 into three new states, the East-Central State, Rivers State and South-Eastern State. East-Central State had its capital at Enugu, which is now part of Enugu State.[1]

Umuahia was literally a backwater until Dr. M. I. Okpara, then premier of eastern region, flooded Umuahia with industries. The fact that few industries were cited in Umuahia does not indicated Umuahia was more urbanized than Owerri. Owerri as provincial headquarter saw a more measured urbanization than Umuahia.

Guy stop saying what you don't know, Umuahia was the capital (headquarter) of Owerri province that comprised of old imo state and was more industrialized and was almost at the same urbanization level with Owerri. Aba was the largest town in the province in particular and in the east in general.
