I was enjoying your contribution until you said the Indian should be deported. Deportation is not the penalty for assault under Nigerian laws. He should face jail for assault and then face deportation for being an incorrigible presence in our Country where he does not respect our laws or people.

This should be the standard approach for every one of these foreigners who hold the least Nigerian in contempt. Additionally, every Nigerian must know that they will go to jail for obeying a foreigner's order to break our laws.


The Company should have called the Police to remove the truck, if I believe their story, but they resorted to assault. That is not allowed under our laws.

The response from some of the comments above is shocking. The violation of the dignity of a Nigerian is the violation of the dignity of all Nigerians, yourself inclusive.

These Indians and the Nigerians involved in this assault must be arrested and given the legal and lawful option that they denied these drivers.

I think this is a good initiative that deserves replication across the country. Several issues need to be thought through before this can be beneficial to the populace though. Some of these are :

1. How do you determine who to pay when several people capture the same driving offense?

2. How do you determine that the reporting person is not using their phone to capture an offender while also committing a similar offense of using a mobile phone while driving?

3. How do you compensate someone who has done his bit of reporting a violation while the State has not been able to recover any fines from the offender?

4. How do you determine that the video clip is not AI generated or enhanced to implicate an innocent person?

5. How do you manage the Appeal process, or do you automatically declare people guilty once their vehicle is captured facing on-coming traffic?

For the same amount of money spent on this wedding, the State could have sponsored them on a skill acquisition program and bought them the tools they need for self-employment after graduation.

A self-employed Nigerian would be able to sponsor his or her own wedding and become a productive member of the society. This is a result of the failure of Leadership in Nigerian politicians. They are unable to lead and have deflected to deception of the people while they pilfer their common wealth and resources.

This is a source of sadness to me as a Nigerian in this day and age.

These guys are not ghosts and Nigeria spends so much on Intelligence gathering. Surely if they can track and trace the Oyo Kidnappers, they must be able to track these herders who are interwoven into the local communties.

The Federal Government should install radar-enforced average speed cameras on all these new Tinubu/Umahi roads. Any smooth road surface is an invitation to speed. It is up to the owners of the road to implement every possible prevention to make them safe for all. This should maintain itself from the accrued fines, hence cost-neutral to the State

Trucks and commercial vehicles should also undergo rigorous safety checks every 6 months.

These are the sort of measures that a responsible and caring government implements everywhere in the world.

Tokunbo cars come with the foreign number plate that they were shipped with from the originating Country. These should be kept on the car until it is registered in Nigeria. Even Foreign number plates can be used to trace a car on Nigerian roads. It is a big crime already to drive a car that cannot be identified on a public road.

Every licensed Car Dealer should have their own unique number plates which they can affix on a car when it needs to go on a public road. It then becomes easy for the Police to identify which dealer was driving a particular car if the Police need to trace them for any reason.

About time. Good morning to the IGP and the Nigerian Police.

Why did it take so long for a lawless country like ours to realize that all these wannabe big men and their copycats driving around in unlicensed cars are the real problem in a State with security issues?

Every car, including the the Presidential Fleet should have a unique identifier on a public road because Nigerians and especially the Police should be able to identify a car that commits a crime, has an accident or even knocks someone down and disappears. There is no rocket science to this.

Please implement this to the letter and let every big man or Tokunbo car be identified otherwise they will be used for criminal pursuits right in our faces and we won't be able to report them to the police because there is no means of accurately identifying them other than their Make, Model and colour, a combination which are not necessarily unique.

I am disappointed to be reading this sort of threat from an organisation like NANS. Their preoccupation should be with the quality and delivery of Education in Nigeria, not commercial interests that have nothing to do with their welfare.

DSTV is not an essential service, not even a government service nor a Monopoly, so why is NANS giving them an ultimatum? Unsubscribe to their service and move to Startimes if they are too dear and they will learn their lesson when enough people do the same. But to shut their offices is unlawful and a practice that is alien to democratic norms.

Don't just blame our politicians when Nigeria doesn't work, we all just pick and choose the aspects of democracy that suits us and this makes the country the way it is.
